I really wish this would be fixed sometime. It’s incredibly annoying. I keep the permanent stuff for my characters on the bottom of my inventory, and those are of course exactly the rows always disappearing.

Dragon's Gaze Achievement

I’m at 50% after 5 games. I went in with the express purpose of completing achievements. I just beeline for the right upgrade and spam it at whomsoever gets in my face. Never at someone fleeing, because there’s a 0% chance they’re using a skill. The skills are too fast for me to interrupt more purposefully, but if you at least aim it at people actually fighting you, there’s a good chance to interrupt something.

Compact bags an issue?

The only times I ever compacted my bags were accidental clicks. A few times in 3.5 years. It’s a fix I could do without, but who am I to complain if they implement something that saves me a minute per year?

I never quite figured out why I’d want to compact my bags.

There was a time GW2 was Casual Friendly

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Manasa Devi.7958

Personally I don’t think that a casual player is a bad player, or that a hardcore player is a good player, being one, doesn’t suggest the other. A casual player can read guides and change their builds just fine so difficulty has nothing to do with how casual content is.

See, here’s where things go astray when people use the word “casual” to define players. It has no agreed upon meaning and people using it in conversation are always talking about completely different things.

In my interpretation of the concept, a “casual player” will never ever consult a guide to the game he’s playing. Because I use the meaning of “casual” that says: “done without much thought, effort, or concern”. (Quoting a dictionary there, I don’t want to paraphrase in my own words and have someone come out and tell me that that’s not what “casual” means.)

Reading or watching a guide online goes against what I consider casual gaming.

DS a solution for AFKers

If AFK-ing for extended periods of time can get you anything, it’s indeed a problem with the design.

I’ve done it myself. I wanted to get something from the merchant at the end and had no intention of playing those dreadfully boring zerg events. Stood at the start and amused myself in a browser for an hour or so, periodically checking if the map was making progress. It was.

Manasa Devi.7958

There is only one thing to say – Shame on you ArenaNet for locking mastery points behind mini games!
Why would anyone like to play a game that locks you out from being able to enjoy all the new mastery abilities?

There are 129 mastery points available in HOT, you need 114 for all the HOT mastery tracks.

Yes, I know that. I also know that here are 31 mastery points from the mini games and 1 from Tarir challenge winner. 129 ./.32 = 97.

of those 32, you can get half of them really easy, just get gold in the babys mini games and in the difficult ones try to get silver (not so difficult)

in VB only shotting gallery its a pain in the kitten , with a little of practice you can get silver

in AB you got 2 games that with a little of practice you get gold fast, the rest you can aim silver with not too much problem.

in TD, ley-line run, bettle feast and drone race, the same thing: a little of practice and you get gold.

with that you are more than ready, also you can toss another 12 points with not getting nuhoch alchemy, the most useless mastery.

What seems to be easy for you might not be easy for everyone. For me it is impossible to do fast-paced, single-mini games. I can’t even score bronze in the “babys mini games”.

The game will never be balanced around the lowest denominator, sorry.

And it shouldn’t. It also shouldn’t require people to play content not pertinent to the theme and genre of the game. “Adventures” are worthless rubbish that have no place in the game other than as a silly distraction. Certainly not tied to any kind of progress in anything other than the “adventures” themselves.

What’s next? A “chess challenge” where you have to beat a competitive level AI at a game of chess?

I absolutely love these wings.

That being said, I haven’t bought them because it’s inevitable that anet will come out with better colors.

That ALSO being said, I now regret buying the white anatomically incorrect feather wings because now they’ll come out with anatomically correct snow owl wings instead of doing what they SHOULD do and replace the white feather wings with the new, blatantly superior model. If they actually end up doing the latter I would be surprised.

Anatomically incorrect? They’re feathers plucked from some bird and stuck to a harness your character straps on. Anatomy doesn’t figure into it at all.

For people like me who have salvage-o-matics for each of their characters, is there any chance we should have the cost of our salvage-o-matics refunded when we purchase account-wide inventory slots? The inventory slots kinda make multiple salvage-o-matics a waste.

Enlighten us,what do you mean “for people like me”

Is it really hard to transfer acc bound items via bank? Are you too busy playing game, and have so so so many things to do once you log in,you can’t even find 20 sec to spare, for salvage kit bank transfer?

People have right to do with their gold as they please, but what kittenes me off is laziness. This topic is undeniable proof how many lazy people is out there.

If you find, sharing salvage kit via bank to other chars,is waste of time, then no wonder, everyone complains how hard is to get legendary item.

What kittens me off is people who expect everyone else to live up to some kind of nonsensical arbitrary standards that they happen to have adopted for reasons I don’t even care to know.

Can someone explain the orb price increase

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Maybe they thought something like a T6 mat selling barely higher than vendor price was too low.

I bought many thousands of chrysocola and beryl orbs at a copper over merchant value a long while ago, thinking I couldn’t possibly lose at that price. Over 1000% profit when I sold them. Paid for my 5 shared inventory slots.

tl;dr: the new slots are only a real QoL improvement for those having a perm-bank-access already, for anyone else the price/benefit ratio is totally out of place and the overall usefullness is also quite limited.

Not true.

I would’ve bought at least one slot along with a single copper-fed salvage-o-matic even if I hadn’t had a permanent bank access express.

I never felt the salvage tool was worth it considering how often I switch characters. At less than twice its price I can have it on all my characters now, which I consider decent value for gold. (Never money.)

No, it has to be an especially gluttonous skritt that shouts: “Ice cream headache!!!” everytime someone feeds him snowflakes.

He will give nothing in return except for the schadenfreude.

He needs to be right next to the bank in LA of course, for maximum exposure.

I only put things there I use very frequently on ALL characters.

1) Copper-fed noisemaker
2) Mystic salvage kit
3) Permanent bank access
4) Tarrktun portal (for lack of a proper merchant contract, can sell stuff with it.)
5) Under consideration, currently running with mystic forge conduit.

I rearranged my storage to have other stuff I use frequently in the first pane.

In retrospect, I would’ve been just as happy with 4 slots but the discount when buying all 5 tempted me. And I already had the gems anyway.

Now it also has another effect, it actually reduces the amount of gems arenanet can expect to generate from MOST of their conveniance items. See all those people who are, in my opinion rightfully, asking for refunds or compensation for multiple salvage-o-matics, harveting tools, etc.? Yeah, that is gems arenanet will not be generating in the future (aka no one needs multiple of those any more).

In my case, these new slots actually caused me to finally buy a salvage-o-matic. I never felt it was convenient enough to own a single one considering how often I cycle through playing different characters, and buying them in double-digit numbers was crazily expensive.

I’m pretty happy with these, best QoL update in a long, long while.

Now, if only we could chose where to put them. My characters all have bagless inventories, and the 5 inserted slots completely shift everything into ruin. I keep all permanently carried stuff on the bottom anyway, as far away as possible from where loot accumulates. I’m used to keeping the type of items I put in these shared slots in the bottom and that’s where I’d prefer these.

Please add an option to chose where these slots appear. At their pricing they shouldn’t come with niggling little frustrations at all.

Agreed with others in this thread regarding all the permanent contracts... yikes.. they have definitely sky-rocketed and this is disappointing, however, if anyone is after a “merch” to merely sell junk when their bags are full… the Tarrktun Personal Delivery Portal still exists… for a pretty hefty price either way…

– Copper-Fed-Salvage-o-Matic
– Mystic Salvage Kit
– BL Salvage Kit
– Zephyrite Lockpicks
– Bandit Skeleton Keys
– Silverwaste Shovels
– Pact Crowbars
– …

Oops, that’s already more than 5 and does not include any unlimited harvesting tools
which can’t be shared using these slots anyway …

Given that you can teleport in and out of Heart of the Mists anytime to get Bank Access these slots are of very limited benefit. Does that mean that TP and Bank will be removed from HotM?

Having a permanent bank access contract with it makes these slots much more useful. I can now keep all keys and similar things in storage and grab some with the characters that need them, when they need them.

Since connectivity issues are an actual thing, and often beyond the control of either the user or the game provider, games should have systems in place to deal with disconnects in a non-frustrating manner. It’s an obvious and essential quality of life feature. Games are meant to entertain, not frustrate.

GW1 had a reconnect option added during its lifetime. It’s actually quite baffling that, given that earlier acknowledgement and fix, GW2 wasn’t built with such a feature from the ground up.

Of course I don’t want to do it. I have no idea how long it takes to push anything anywhere and I don’t care. Content that requires me to meta-game is worthless to me. I want to login and play and not spend a single second planning anything with anyone. And I really don’t care what people think about my attitude.

There are a few things I want out of the content, and that’s why I go there. On my terms, not on ANet’s ridiculous schedule and certainly not beholden to other players. For starters, I wanted to see all of the landscapes and I decided to finish the story as well, after having dropped it for 2 months when my distaste for HoT set in shortly after entering VB for the first time.

Spending any kind of mental effort on it is a waste. I look at what’s happening on my screen, zone out to the point that nothing I’m looking at holds any meaning any longer. Just pretty colors and a cacophony of dozens of concurrently playing sound effects, and I start wondering what’s the point of it all. But I got that answer. It’s the loot, apparently. How many people would submit themselves to it if there was no loot?

Yeah, I was looking at that page when I made that post. It’s what inspired it.

So all the hullabaloo is about loot I don’t want or need without what I play games for to begin with: interesting gameplay? Because I haven’t found any in that area. Everywhere I go people do stuff with lots of sound and fury, and I’m tagging along doing pretty much nothing at all because why bother, the game plays itself for me on a full map with driven people. It’s embarrassing to think that’s a GW2 area.

Funny I think the game play is quite interesting. If you’re doing nothing at all you’re leeching. Someone has to do the work. It’s funny you think that something a bunch of people are enjoying is embarrassing.

Really? You think it’s interesting to run from place to place in a herd of people so tightly packed you can’t see your own character, firing off attacks at enemies you can only identify by merit of their red name tags, apart from some bigger boss type creatures?

And then there’s the squad joining invitations popping up ever so often. Yeah, like I want every visual aspect of the game to be drowned out in even more useless clutter, like dozens upon dozens of blue player name tags you can’t turn off for some reason. Beneath it all there’s a nice looking game I’d imagine.

I happily leeched the run I did, because actually participating was the most terrible experience this game ever offered me in terms of, well, everything. I hung back occasionally shooting at something veering close enough. I also took every opportunity I could to wander off and explore the map, and finished it completely during that one run, using 7 scrolls of maguuma heroics to deal with the HPs. I finished with 200% participation. Yay me.
