I noticed how some people complain about how annoying it is to move across the map as well as how the new mastery is pointless.

Here’s a clue: skill 1. Channel it to completion. It’s a rush similar to skill 5 of the Bloodstone Fen flying skills, but with only a second of cooldown. Just don’t bump into monsters, it’ll end the skill and damage them. It one-hit kills ice storms, which is nice.

The hot springs events are really over the top.

Just now, I arrived there during the liberation event. Killing a lot of stuff, and I mean a lot, the heart was only half-filled. I set out to kill some mushrooms and grab some herbs to complete the heart. I was only gone 2 or 3 minutes, but when I came back, the springs were under assault again, dead people all over the place, the event guaranteed to fail at that point, with level 82 veterans all over the place. I had to sit that out and wait for the liberation event.

It certainly doesn’t help that it all happens around a heart NPC. People gravitate toward that and let their guard down, resulting in a huge initial spawns that the 2 or 3 people actually paying attention can’t deal with.

One of the events seem a bit hard to win at, which is where you defend the hot spring for the quaggan bathers and lose every time – a couple of random players can’t seem to counter the extreme aggression of the invaders.

It doesn’t help if half the players there get ganked and insta-downed by this huge crowd of icebrood they didn’t see coming because they’re shopping at the quaggan.

Standing at the Hotsprings heart quaggan, his merchant screen open, my inventory open. Suddenly, I’m being bounced all over the place, downed before I can close the windows and take control, defeated just as I can see my surroundings again. Twenty-ish hard-hitting mobs around me, for the event with the water temperature indicator.

That was just very, very irritating, especially with the lack of waypoints from which to take off for another attempt at shopping at the springs.

Nightmare Fractal coming with S3 E3

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Manasa Devi.7958

Manasa Devi.7958

We have the capacity to make new content that doesn’t use as many old assets, and we will be doing that. We just really liked the idea of ToN as a fractal and had the added bonus of needing less prop + texture support, which meant Jeff had more bandwidth to do new effects and map art as well as work for the next fractal.

Since we have 16 different fractals with nightmare included, and only 3 daily fractals which are completed in less than 30min with an experienced group, can we please get more dailies?

We do actually like keeping the dailies somewhat short, since lots of dailies means that groups feel they have to play for hours per day which contributes to burnout, especially if you don’t clear the fractals on the first try. Adding a tier 3 daily recommended is not out of the question however.

Tier 3 daily recommended would certainly help with completing the 51-75 achievement by growing the pool of people willing to do them. So… yes please!

Not sure why are you bringing that up, since the easy mode initiative does not try to do that at all. You are fighting windmills here.

Really? name one instance where difficultly was split into different modes instead of overall nerfing the content down for the general public.

GW1 normal mode/hard mode split. Fractals. Any case of implementing easy mode in every other game…
Including the easy mode raids suggestion, which does not include nerfing anything in the current raid difficulty level.

This isn’t gw1, why you are naming other games when we are talking about gw2…… are you feeling ok? – They are not going to split areas when they are already relying on megaservers to keep upon the apperance of areas being populated.

If they never did anything they hadn’t done before, we wouldn’t have raids in the first place.

I don’t get the whole premise that Anet should ask players … Toyota doesn’t as me if I want 10 cup holders do they? ALl threads like this are the same lack of understanding of what you pay for as a customer to an MMO developer … it’s Access to content, not the content itself. If you understand this, you know why it’s silly to ‘ask players’ if something should be done.

It is not inherently silly to ask players if something should be done or not. It’s just entirely up to ArenaNet if they want to ask players. Which in some occasions they do.

That’s correct, but they didn’t in this case. They implemented it because it’s the design they wanted. That’s not flawed at all; there are lots of factors that go into this kind of decision that the average player has no clue about … so you think Anet wants a volume of uninformed opinions to make game design decisions? I think that would actually be irresponsible of them to do that.

Uninformed opinions? That fits nicely with how clueless and indecisive ANet has been over the years with their ever-evolving approach to dailies. The last change was the most ridiculous of all, awarding a whopping 10 points per day for the most trivial and inconsequential of activities.

Stupid pet tricks I used to call them, back when I cared. And they did this because of a sorry handful of people who, like dogs that won’t stop eating until all the food is gone, obsessively needed to get all available points every day. Cultivating degenerate game play for years and then cutting off the reward cold turkey style, that’s what I consider irresponsible. What’s left is the blatant negative reinforcement of shoving the daily system with its promise of rewards that will never materialize into our faces every time you log in. And do they even bother informing players in-game of the situation and removing the 10 AP reward from the Daily Completionist? Nope. Why not? They do have mechanisms in place that allow for repeatable achievements with limited cumulative AP rewards, like for Agent of Entropy.

Do they enjoy the daily new threads about it in the bugs section? Do they just not care to make the whole thing less of a convoluted mess? Or are they just in over their heads?

I don’t know. Ticket Scraps and Wardrobe Unlocks being the most common drops in the Account Progression slot, so far, doesn’t seem so bad to me.

Alas, the Devs can’t make everyone happy.

Wardrobe unlocks are 99% useless to me too. Generally speaking, if I want a skin, I get it and have done so since I started playing. 99% of what a wardrobe unlock can give me will only progress my account in the sense that an icon in my wardrobe/dye collection/mini collection that I’ll never look at will go from faded to full color.

My complaint is that they eliminated the chance to get no items that I consider useless and replaced it with the chance to get at least 2 items I consider useless. That’s the first 2 slots.

Then there’s the 3rd slot, still with a pretty steep chance to present me with something useless: 4 out of the 6 possible drops, with the 5th being another RNG package that can also result in something that’s useless to me.

That leaves a 4th slot I haven’t seen yet.

No, the chests don’t appeal to me anymore. Too much guaranteed uselessness.

So now instead of at least getting something useful, even if another trading post express or Bank access item…we get a completely useless bag of Halloween junk that you can’t even sell on the Trading Post??

Thank you for informing me of this change.

I had been spending $60-$100 a month on Gems, of which a good portion went to BLTC keys so I could get boosts, teleport to friend, and occasional nice skins. This change just cut the odds on getting any of those.

Sorry Anet, this move just lost you a player that was willing to spend a lot of cash each month… I am not paying for junk items I don’t need or can’t sell.

A Trick or Treat Bag is millions of times more useful than a Trading Post Express or Bank Access item.

A million times zero is still zero.

And sadly, there’s a more than reasonable chance that you get both these ‘zeroes’ sitting right next to each other in slots 1 and 2.

My guess is they are not going to remove the cap simply because they want (and have always wanted) people to spend their time on different activities rather than grinding one specific aspect of this game.

This made me laugh. Because, when the current version of the dailies was introduced and people complained about them, one argument that kept popping up was how they were meant to push people out of there comfort zones and get them to do stuff they otherwise wouldn’t.

I’d be more inclined to say that ANet wants people to log in at all. Playing is a bonus. No log-in, no contact with the player. No contact, no chance to upsell cosmetics, content bumps, or expansions.

Granted, once players get to logging in, of course ANet wants them to play. That’s increased time commitment that can be tilted toward the upsell. And I don’t even mean that in a sinister way. But if they lose players for any perceived “meh,” there’s a good chance they might not come back.

This. Before, I was used to find something else to do while I doing daily stuff. Like guildies forming fractal party, something new in gemshop worth looking and farming to buy, some ongoing events, some achievement popped in almost finished tab. But when there is no reason to log, then there is no possibility to actually become interested and involved into anything.

That’s the thing. There is a reason to log in other than dailies. Everything you listed was a reason to login. The fact that you think that dailies are the only reason to even login to the game is a telltale sign that you don’t enjoy it anymore like you used to. Seriously. Go find another game if playing GW2 is as much of a chore as you make it out to be in this thread.

There’s plenty of reasons to log in, but what changed is that there’s no reason to log in today and today I won’t. Tomorrow? Probably not. I’ll probably play a game that doesn’t reward every log in with a pop-up reminding me I’ve been playing too often for too long

Honestly if dailies were the only thing that kept you logging in then its time to find another game. The game is kittening huge, with lots of stuff to do, and if none of it interests you or excites you, if you don’t enjoy doing any of it then you need a new game. And if dailies are the only reason you logged in then it meant that nothing in the game was enjoyable to you. You are just completing dailies because you need something to grind but won’t grind something like 250k kills in PvP or giant slayer.

This is an unfair comment really, I do dailies everyday then go farm the new maps, help guildies, doing fractals, then jump in WvW for a couple of hours, but when my daily is capped in 4 days, I wont bother with any of it, sure if a friend asks me to jump on and help with something I will, but other than that I wont bother, I wont support anet via the gemstore nothing, I wont play because im being restricted and stonewalled because im an active players who has supported Anet for over 10 years now, so in your own words, yes I will go find another game to invest in, but you see it as 1 person, when I stop playing, people who play on TS with me everyday will also leave, so 1 person leaving could end up being 5 or 6 people, it snowballs fairly fast, ive seen this many times over the last 2 years with other friend/guilds, I have a friend who hasn’t played in 6 months now due to the cap, he logs in for 5 seconds everyday to get the daily log in rewards then logs out, that’s hardly what anet wants for the game is it, ( maybe it is )

If there was enough AP between the content droughts this game is now suffereing, it really wouldn’t be so much of an issue, but the fact is there are not, so in order for me to get that next armor skin/weapon skin from the AP chests I have to wait months, while someone who doesn’t log in everyday, or is super causal can continue,

This topic has been ignored and all other topics on this matters for nearly a year now, there own support told me to keep posting on the forums and or reddit until a dev replies, as they have no control over what Anet do, but its really a waste of time.

You just reinforced my point. You don’t get any pleasure from the game other than dailies. You claim that you do, by stating that after dailies you will help other people in your guild. But then you immediately contradict that statement when you say that once you are capped on dailies you will stop logging in. If you truly enjoyed helping other players in this game more than doing dailies then you wouldn’t stop logging in when your daily AP was capped.

The fact is you are just like the first guy I quoted. You don’t find the game fun anymore. You just use dailies as a convenient excuse to keep logging on despite not enjoying the game as much as you used to.

Great job telling other people how they feel. A+.

I do still enjoy the game, but I’ve gone from daily log-ins to around bi-weekly after hitting the cap. Longest I’ve gone without logging in at all was almost 2 months.

The thing is, the game is competing for my time. Being enjoyable is no big deal, many enjoyable activities vie for my attention. The game is just one of them. And it lost something that kept drawing my attention back to it. And in my experience with games, once you stop logging on regularly, you halfway gone forever.

I don’t feel Ticket Scraps or Wardrobe Unlocks are ‘useless/superfluous’ items. They are common items, so fall in slots 2 and 3.

But, of course, each to their own.

Ticket scraps and wardrobe unlocks don’t drop in the 2nd slot.

They are the only 2 items in the 3rd slot that interest me.

Zero items of interest in the first slot.
Zero items of interest in the second slot.
Two items of interest in the third slot.
Hardly anything I wouldn’t just sell for gold in the fourth slot.

No keys for me. On the plus side, I can now put the character slot I sometimes use for key runs to a different purpose.

The seasonal items aren’t the worst drop.

There’s nothing that can drop in the second slot that I have any use for and only 2 out of the 6 options for slot 3 hold any interest for me. Chests are now at a point where I don’t even care to look at what’s in one that doesn’t pop a 4th slot.

All the talk about odds and figures doesn’t change the simple fact that chests feel worse to me than they ever felt before. Two guaranteed garbage items instead of the boosters some of which I use regularly, that’s simply an awful change for me.

Bad example, but the point stands. The rarity of items wasn’t formally defined prior to this patch anyway.

I should probably rephrase it like: “before, there was a less than 100% chance to get at least 1 ‘less desirable’ item as part of the slots 2 and 3 drops, now, there’s a 100% chance of that.”

We are now more likely to get the common items. It used to be possible to get no common items (except for the booster). Now, you always (yes always!) get 2 common items.

We don’t know that’s true because we had no idea what the various drop rates were in the old chests. All we knew was that either slot seemed be able to drop any rarity but not what the rarity was other than what got crowd sourced.

The chance to get at least one common item in the 2nd and 3rd slots was less than 100%. I know this from experience. In fact, one of my last pre-patch chests had a ticket scrap in both 2nd and 3rd slots.

Now, we have a chance of exactly 100% to get one common item in those slots.

Going from less than 100%, regardless of the actual number, to exactly 100%, that means, as I stated, that we are now more likely to get a common item. So likely in fact that we’ll always at least get one.

It’s not just the ToT bag that bothers me, the other thing is the guaranteed convenience item that always appears right next to the bag in slot 2 of the chest.

Chests are now possibly something that doesn’t suck completely in slot 3 and a chance at a 4th slot with a rare drop. The first 2 slots will always be unappealing now.

Previously, the drop slots weren’t as rigidly guaranteed to drop specific classes of items like they are now. I regularly looted 2 ticket fragments from a single chest before this change. That’s no longer possible now.

Manasa Devi.7958

A 50% increase of a statistically negligible chance isn’t worth it.

Of course it is.

Plus, the way rare items go into a 4th slot seems to indicate that the generation of a rare item doesn’t work the way you and others seem to think it does. From dulfy:

“When you get an uncommon or rare item, you will get a 4th slot.”
http://dulfy.net/2016/11/01/gw2-halloween-black-lion-chest-and-vibrant-dyes/

That implies that the key/chest generates the shot at a rare, not each individual slot in the chest. In other words, there’s no correlation between your chance at a rare, and the amount of slots that exist in the chest.~EW

That’s how it works now. “Now” being the situation under criticism. It didn’t work like that before.

Run around for a bit until you reach the participation cap, then stand at a waypoint and do something else on my second screen that actually interests me. (Practically everything on my PC interests me more at this point than doing WvW. Even Solitaire.) Open the map every few minutes, scan where something can be killed, go there and kill it and back to the waypoint. Rinse and repeat.
