Cannot see party member's events

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Manasa Devi.7958

A possible explanation:

Some dynamic events have NPCs with an orange star above their heads that tell you were the event is taking place. If you talk to them and “accept” the event, that event will be in your GUI no matter where you are on the map.

One of you could have such an event active while you’re all standing outside the active range of the event. In that case, only the player who accepted the event from the NPC will see the event.

20 slot bags from WvW don’t have compact and other annoying restrictions on them, fractal bags unfortunately do

Many of my characters use a few of the fractal bags that collect masterwork items, in the first few bag slots. That way, their “green collecting” power has no effect whatsoever. They’re fine bags, and cheap.

Permanent Inventory Scroll Bar

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

It’s a bit annoying, because I’m so used to the “inventory resize bug” that I start dragging at my inventory window any time I see a scrollbar. Seeing that bar used to imply that my inventory had spontaneously resized again.

I find it very aggravating when the leftmost slots of my inventory rows don’t coincide with the first slot of the ‘bank view’ of the inventory that’s only 4 slots wide. It makes it harder to find stuff. That’s fixed now, so I’m happy.

There’s definitely something wrong with the vertical scrollbar. I can’t get rid of it no matter how much I stretch the window. I just get more empty space to scroll over with the ever-present scrollbar.

Obtaining Fractal Encryption Keys

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Manasa Devi.7958

Manasa Devi.7958

In my experience, the recommended dailies pull the encryption:key ratio out of whack. Just doing the 3 tier 4 fractals will give you a guaranteed 12 keys, which is usually enough or at least nearly enough to open all the encryptions I find.

The 2 recommended daily chests give you extra encryptions instead of extra keys. Throw in the encryptions you get from the big end-of-fractal chests for those levels, and those 2 fractals dump a lot of extra encryptions on you.

My worst story pales in comparison to the hairstyle kit.

I forgot to extract the +11 agony infusion from my Unbound before forging it into Ad Infinitum. The worst part is that during the last few steps I needed to do to complete the final gift, I kept telling myself not to forget to extract that infusion. Also, I dumped thousands of +1 agony infusions after they went up in price a bit when people were gearing up for level 100, and was left with none of them to make a new +11.

Bag slots..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Manasa Devi.7958

Manasa Devi.7958

It’s because if they were account wide bag expansions, they’d have to charge a heck of a lot more than one bag expansion for one char only. Every char have you have now and every char you made from the time of purchase onward would get a free bag expansion. That would be a VERY good deal.

If they were account-wide, I’d buy them and I’d pay that “heck of a lot more”.

As they are now, not a chance in hell I’m ever buying even one.

I was thinking “Legendary Sucker” – from Naruto although, since we can’t use Sucker, “Legendary Fool” ?

Not to insult those who managed to get it, I quit after I did like 20 or so lol…. but how many profited, and how many lost incredible amounts of gold by going for it?

I never actually intended to go for it but I made a significant amount of gold while getting it. I tried it to see what the fuss was all about and kept going because I kept winning. I only stopped when I hit the “100 times” achievement.

I disagree with the OPs numbers. It didn’t take me 10,000 gold and 25,000 ectoplasm. Just 100 gold, 250 ectoplasm, and a whole lot of luck.

People not using CC

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Manasa Devi.7958

Manasa Devi.7958

Also, for a lot of casual players in big boss events, so long as the boss is losing health, and they are winning, they are probably not aware of doing anything wrong by not CCing. “Was the event successful? Then I must’ve been doing it right.” That also furthrs the “I don’t care about CC” attitude b/c they didn’t need it last time. They end up getting carried by everyone else and don’t realize there’s more to learn. Only by repeated failure will they finally stop to figure out what’s going wrong.

The vast majority of the time, people are actually right when they think they don’t need to break that bar. Most encounters are easily winnable without ever putting even a slight dent in the bar. That sure doesn’t do anything to educate people, and after fighting dozens of enemies with useless break bars, running into one where not breaking it has major consequences, they’re still clueless.

What's the point of 1 shared inventory slot?

A simple answer to the original question: the usefulness of a single slot depends on what you have available to put there. Do you own a permanent bank access express? That shared slot is the most awesome thing ever. Do you own a salvage-o-matic? Still pretty good. Tarrktun personal delivery portal? Sign me up!

He’s not trying to purchase, sell or trade a game account or gold, or pursuing a real-money transaction. Nothing in that sentence, regardless of how many words you bold, applies to the OP.

They could’ve made it a 0 gem purchase.

There’s no option to hide the slots.

They could have, but they didn’t. Do you really expect that it’s worth their time to adjust this solely for those who don’t want even 1 shared slot?

Mind you, I’m not at all against them spending time to allow folks to move around the full set of SIS (shared-inventory slots), as if they were another bag, so folks could drag them up or down on the left side. I just don’t think any special effort should be made to satisfy a type of minor OCD about having +1 slot.

Of course they shouldn’t fix this “solely for those who don’t want even 1 shared slot”. They should fix it for the many people who requested placement options when the slots were first introduced. They should’ve done that months ago. There was a lot of noise at that time, and that was just from the small minority of people that actually bought them. Me included.

When nothing became of those requests, I bit the bullet and put 15 slot bags in the first slot on all my characters, to realign everything. Now, I’d need to put two 12 slot bags in the first 2 slots to fix it, or buy 4 more shared slots that I don’t need.

It’s got nothing to do with OCD or whatever insult you care to throw at me. I just find it a very clumsy setup to have the narrow left-pane of the bank that shows the inventory not have corresponding starting positions as the rows of my bagless inventory. It makes it harder to find stuff and manage the whole thing.

Hide/Unhide – Hidden inventory slots can be toggled as hidden or visible, regardless of show bags setting.
Top/Bottom- Hidden inventory slots can be toggled to show at the top or bottom of the inventory.
Removal – Remove the free shared inventory slot form the account.

It would also be nice to know who would find more than one of these satisfactory, (or none of them) and why.

I assume you mean shared in place of the bolded *hidden*s.

Either an option to put them at the bottom or having the free one removed would be fine for me. Keeping them separated from the inventory bags even with the “Show bags” option disabled would also work.

Your option 1, the option to hide the slots would do nothing for me. I’d like the 5 I bought visible at all times.

By the time you have earned the masteries you are probably done with the maps where they are useful.

Well, they certainly help you rush additional characters through the content.

On my first character, I was annoyed because of all the speed bumps I ran into, lacking certain masteries. On subsequent characters, everything felt completely trivial because of a combination of prior experience and those speed bumps being gone. Both experiences were sub-optimal. Something about the system is off, for sure.

I was thinking of things like the 2 completely different fights against the Shadow of the Dragon, the teragriff boss, the stealth mission.

The HoT instances have nothing interesting going for them by way of mechanics, apart from the final one. And on top of that they have the temerity to actually call the parts where we’re just moving from one point of the map to the next part of the map “story chapters”. Ridiculous.

The participation reward system is just generally flawed. There’s this here. There’s also sitting afk at the end of a meta with your 200% slowly ticking down while you get chest after chest if you’re lucky and the map turns out to be one that remains active on the next cycle. There’s so many ways to game the system.

The participation system is a good idea, but needs refinement.

I never swap stats, unless it’s a permanent move out of a build that I completely lost interest in. If I need different stats for something, I make a whole new character. I have 9 “general PvE” characters, 1 of each profession, and a lot of characters to fulfil specific roles.

Rebuilding characters is too cumbersome. Too many pieces of equipment that have to be stored, and no quick and elegant way to change builds. Besides, it’s a good excuse to keep making more characters.

So, I don’t really care about legendary armor, which conveniently goes hand in hand with a complete and total disinterest in raids.

Blame the game. Taxiing, which is required for plenty of people to have a chance at winning the meta, sets your participation level to 0%. Doing a full circuit is pretty much required to get participation level up to a level where rewards are worthwhile.

Only if you show up <5 Mins before the main event and let other players before do most of the work. A map that goes through the whole event chains with a couple of people organizing always does the meta event afterwards.

If you say so. I’ve never been on a map that long.
