Darn, you all T1 heavy users make me thinking on getting it, but I don’t have munniez to get the fine stones. Degrading armor to lv 79 and transmuting that sounds kind of overkill to me too

Wondering about long hair and clipping?

Marge.4035

Yeah, that and the skirt are the reasons I never get that skin. ;p

I don’t know if people would like this, but I remember there was a unique feature for female dark elves in Lineage 2, when wearing armors with a big collar, their hair mesh swapped to a high ponytail. I think TERA does that too? I’m not sure, but browsing TERA’s files, I’ve noticed that every long female hairstyle has a variation with a an elegant bun.

Something like this as an optional switch would be great.

[February] Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Race: Human
Gender: Female
Class: Elementalist
Armor: Heritage Light
Body type: In character creation it’s probably – second “page”, lower row, far right preset. I can’t confirm that having no free slot to create a character. There are two quite proportional presets, one with larger, one with smaller breasts. It’s the second one, with distinct muscle lines (ele with abs, got a prob with that? ). I’m including a screen if that helps.

The clipping illustrated on the screens is constant. It gets worse around the waist depending of the moves the character does. Corset looks fine, but adjusting the skirt at that areas would be my suggestion.

Is making few copper bars that painful, really? Just asking.

Painful? How about fun?

Well, if you were doing previous dailies, you surely got mats in your bank. You take those (just the gathering tools cost, even not if you got tools from the personal story), take any crafting profession (free), craft the basic stuff (copper ore to copper bars being the easiest example) and sell it on TP! Do I lose anything from it? Two minutes of my time. Do I gain something? Munniez on emergency WP and repairs! Not much for someone like me who just explores maps, but you know what they say, a penny saved is penny earned. It makes me happy.

Edit: Also TIL Sparkfly Fen is awesome for dailies.

Mine is probably unoriginal as they come, but her appearance was decided long time ago, I was a fan of Roan Fierceheart. He was a Mo/Me if I remember clearly, and always standing at the entrance to the CoF, majestic as hell. xD
I gave her non complicated horns though in case I’d like to draw her someday. Not very good at that, so just wanted to keep it simple. Well, close enough.

Wondering about long hair and clipping?

Marge.4035

Clipping will occur always. It’s unavoidable with the way the things are made. I’m not even sure if reducing the clipping would be possible to do, a dev would have to give some insight. Even if it was, I’m sure it would 1) be difficult as hell since there’s so many armors. 2) could not be possible to implement without requiring some godly PC setup.

I have an ele with the longest, straight hair, and it’s not that scary as I thought it could be. It’s actually the first game where I enjoy having a toon with a long hair.
Upper part (of this particular hairstyle) is rigged to move with the neck, so they’re stretching, you might find that ugly if you tend to fixate on details, and below that, they are animated with game physics.

They (long hairstyles in general) will clip with staves and armors with large collars/shoulder pieces. You can create a toon, teleport to the Mists, go to PVP locker and try out sets in preview.

As someone who played around with 3D models extracted from games, I can just say, clipping is sometimes the only way, need to learn to live with that.

Cabalist. That set has to be one of my favorites. It’s sexy without showing everything off.

+1 to this, it’s my fav skin for my ele. I don’t have enough stones to transmute my 80 lv set with it :/ Animated parts, nice details, colors nicely. Misses earrings thou, one of the things I’d like from GW1 to be in GW2.

This thread – again – is an opinion, and the idea of “sexiness” is different to everyone, but I have to agree in one thing. Heavy and light armors have quite a variety of revealing armors lots of them already available under lv 79 so they can be transmuted, while definitely larger part of medium sets are trench coats. Yeah, I kind of hoped to some of GW1 spirit to be transferred over, not just HoM skins and some weapon replicas, but the style of the armor. Ranger/assassin skirts included.

After the whole discussion over starter light armor, I don’t see OP’s demand granted unless we get some new skins in new dungeons or expansions that would met their expectations.

I’m horrible at platform games, clumsy, and I tend to play alone, yet when I see a reaction like this…

*Get into low level zone, aggro few enemies, press “V” randomly, I’m SURE you will get the “Evaded” info eventually.
*Res dead NPCs. Game is full of them. Begin with behind the Shaemoor Garrison.
*You surely got some materials during your gameplay, simple refinement counts as crafting. Simple ball of dough from cooking. Bolt of jute. Copper bars.
*If the “combo” achi shows up again, just run and do some events on the maps where people lvl up and ping directions on the /y chat. Daily events pops in at the same time. Veterans might too. You don’t even have to TALK with people. Read descriptions on the skill bar, see which ones create combos, and just use them when you see some funny white circles on the ground :/ Oh, it’s also karma, and gold, and exp…
*Veteran Oakenhearts walk in packs.

Everything is done on low level maps. The chances that one may fail are really really low, unless something is bugged on the game level.

Start complaining again when something is impossible for you to achieve.

This will sound bad, but sometimes I think that people who complain about new dailies like being rewarded, want laurels, want gold and karma just like everyone else, but they don’t want to put any effort to earn it. After making them myself I think it’s seriously minimal.

Human skin color

Marge.4035

Well, people just make what feels nice to them. Players go for “individuality” rather than “diversity”, I think. GW1 main was a tanned Canthan. My Elonian paragon girl was darker, but not completely dark skinned. I made their GW2 “counterparts” similar.

My prob with certain colors is that with dark skin facial features disappear (I LOVE the fact they didn’t forget about lighter inner palm, so many designers skip this!), and pale characters glow like light bulbs. So, sure, I will be making chars somewhere in between. I’m trying to avoid orange lips though, they usually come with more caramel skin tones. They look ill to me. Or… too much carrot juice?

Oh, I’ve found this shot! I always hoped that people who want their “descendant characters” look like their GW toons will have that possibility, but we got what we got.

So, luckily for me there is one than more “fairly Canthan” face preset that it could work with. My goal was to make her similar, I doubt that I could make her identical. I liked the result and I play that char from the day one (though my main is an asura). I was delighted to finally have nicely animated long hair, too.

What do you think? Do anyone else tried to do the same thing?
Edit: I also tried with the paragon. So-so, but there’s not much dark skinned PCs on my server, so I’ll stick to her. It’s just a pity the face features are so “homogeneous” for human females.

Why its called Celestial Dye

in Sylvari

Posted by: Marge.4035

Marge.4035

For the starters, I’m just gonna say I don’t know anything about 3D and stuff, but I’m interested in how dyes work. So I’m sorry if this post seems like driveling, it’s just all observations described in simplest words I know.

I’m actually curious in this what people perceive as this kind of shine. The brighter the color of the surface and the brighter lights, the stronger the “shine” caused by bloom effect (post processing) is. Celestial dye is very bright, if not the brightest dye (dunno, I saw it only on screens), then sure, bloom will be more visible in most areas.
Well, in that case it’s not exactly “shine” but “glow”. But not glow as in light (like emissivity effect on sylvari, or a lamp, or fire, etc).

My guildmates mention that the color of the “shine” changes with some expensive dyes.
I never noticed dyes affecting specular effect in any way. Specular lighting is always specific for the area (for example login screen, it’s bluish), not for the dye, at least that’s what it looks to me.

Unless I’m mistaking it with some kinda environmental/gloss mapping (since visibility of it is increasing in less light), but still, it’s seem to be specific to area, not the dye. I think. It would be nice to know how are our armors made. Are we changing only the diffuse map, or something else when we apply dyes?

In other words, buying an expensive dye, do we pay for color and rarity, or something else too?

If you highlight the scroll, it says “Note from Forgal”, but I can’t read (F doesn’t work) the contents of the scroll.

All my characters in the instance see this scroll, but none including the one who joined the Vigil can’t read it. Anyone knows something about it?

Me on the other hand, I’m always distracted clicking on every male charr NPC just to check if he will greet me with Blum’s voice. He’s everywhere in this game, I think he even voices few old asuras. I guess it may be also because this guy is great to work with, or so I’ve heard.

Listening to Mardine was very entertaining, apart from the fact he’s loading cows on his “cattlepult”.

I’m not VO freak, and I often may not recognize people, but I find some actors more pleasant to listen than others, Steve’s one of them.

A bit OT:
Although I miss Maurice LaMarche and his performance as Vekk. Sure Vekk is dead by now but it would be nice if Maurice could make some guest appearance.

Or Mari Weiss (Oola/Livia). Though I think I hear someone who sounds like her, but no database confirms her participation. If someone could give some insight on that, I’d be grateful.

EDIT:
Well, for those who may miss this “occurrence”, I managed to record this clip. It’s in the home instance, but close to the described weeping mother as you’ll see. :P
http://youtu.be/yeVypcp5wAo

It just sounds like some random clips are played too frequently. Sometimes it;s hilarious. Yesterday I was running around DR and the instance and this wasn’t happening just in one place. For example, I went inside this cottage near this place, there’s Josir standing on the second floor, and the sounds glitched just like in the movie (that’s why I came back here today), it wasn’t the “uh-huh, uh-huh”, but some female moaning-yawning sound instead.

I LOL’d at the thought of Josir being “this pervy Priory scholar”. Because he's kind of cute.

Female human guardian wearing [Precise] Worn Chain (crafted) set.

Issue: upper and lower body aren’t connected, there’s quite a big hole there. It looks like it’s the gaiters’ fault, because:
- changing them to something else closes the gap;
- when I unequip the upper part, gap is still there.

Body build: I’m sorry, but I don’t remember which one was that anymore, and I don’t have a free slot to confirm. Second tab, upper row, it was the proportional (read: no wasp-waist and no baloon boobs), muscled one, but with larger breast than the one in the lower row on the same page – thus I’m adding a screen in underwear, I’m sure 3D artists are able to determine the shape.
