This is ahead of class balance in my opinion. This is getting a distinct advantage for clicking 1 button and being a miniature character.

It’s not an unfixable problem, and if ToL showed anet anything, it’s a real problem. Like ~60% of the ToL fighters were asuran.

I’m happy with the patch’s balance changes.

I don’t use runes of strength as I think they’re a problem, but I do think eles are in a great place now in WvW and spvp.

I’ve seen some staff eles wrecking in spvp, an increased number of eles around (which has leveled out finally as people are re-giving up on their old ele alts) and my d/d ele roaming squads are taking on triple our number in WvW. Super fun.

Im in the camp that believes this rune is over the limit. As is perplexity (I know, they’re not in spvp, but they nearly were.) I’d call for them to be nerfed in not boon duration, but in their sources of might.

Unfortunately d/p is a bit underpowered these days. You can play it and be successful, but there are better specs out there. Thx for putting the effort out to make the guide. It’s bound to help someone.

I’m failing to see how it’s unfortunate they’re taking away from a faceroll build to make it worth it’s skill input. I hope they do that with other classes and builds.

I wish there was an option to turn all character models into humans. Client side.

Well. I went to the straw poll fully expecting to click yes, but the contribution was in cash. No, I wouldn’t put in cash, but I would put in gold.

We tried hosting a doubles tourney where te team entry was 50g each, and the tourneys were 100% crowdsourced, so 100% of the pot would be split amongst 1st 2nd and 3rd.

It sputtered in the end even though we had 8 teams committ. We’re still trying to get it off the ground.

Cav Zerk is a great option.

Can you do anything PvP wise successfully with 1 and 2 spam? No.. This isn’t the class for you if you don’t want to work for your kills.

The less points you put into water you’re absolutely correct. — it becomes a far more useful rune set.

Like I said it is a flavor choice, but it truly is deciding where 20% will go to. Removing conditions, or buffing power.

My personal favorite build doesn’t even go two into water, so I see your points, it just becomes a matter of what allows you greater control in a fight.

I personally don’t like using the build with -60% with condi duration, only because you’re factoring in food.. And food can be applied to anything. Because even with strength, you have that jump in EP and still have 40% condi dura (which is arguably more effective). So the question really is where do you want to put a 20% modifier. To stats (basically) or -condi.

It’ll come down to flavor.

Hey guys. Took this interesting snap yesterday with Mojite(Joseph). Tis the Elementalist creed.

Kinda sums up how I’m feeling after this patch. Really well put together, very happy with game balance minus a few little things. A couple runes and sigils could be different in my opinion.

I personally feel like I can beat or tie everybody I fight, and that’s all I ever wanted from my class. I’m wondering how everybody else feels about it. I’m also wondering if anybody has drastically changed their ele looks after the patch. I know I look nothing like I used to look.

Most of my friends in game are adapting well, and I’ve got to give a shoutout to my ele friends like Spoon, Serane, Tokegawa, Moj and several others of course for relentlessly dueling me to help round out my build.

Enjoying this patch is why I haven’t posted much on the forums, and will likely decrease the amount of forum activity I have.

Yes, they are, but conjures do the best PvE damage. In PvE go for a burstier spec trait wise.

Just some credence to his claim, I’ve used this trait for two months and I love it.

There’s a Dev post somewhere confirming the issues. They said they’ll work to get a new certificate in place, as the heartbleed virus needed to be patched.

I seen caed duel in a tourny a couple weeks ago, he is way overhyped I was not impressed at all.

I’d agree he’s over hyped, but hes actually really good and plays thief with the highest skill cap possible.

The tourney he was in had a majority of players using Shadow Arts III as an alternative to Shadow Rejuv. He also lost to a notably good medi guard which is the direct counter to ALMOST all melee thieves, especially those without Shadow Arts.

To play devils advocate, you lost first round in both tourneys and lost to a warrior which isn’t an overly difficult fight given the weapon sets you use. Granted, I was not present at this tourney to see whether or not you ran your normal setup. If not, I’m not really surprised by the outcome.

I ran a build I made on the fly, and lost to a m/s lb warrior. Not a big deal I lost fair and square. But, when I watched caeds fight he literally didn’t do anything to the guardian with either one of his builds he played.

You and I both know that a medi guard is a REALLY tough fight even with Shadow Arts. I wouldn’t expect caed to be able to do anything against Aldix with a 10/30/0/0/30 ogre rune setup. Everything is going to be blocked, dodged, blinded or mitigated whereas Caed is like 200% vulnerable to even sceptor AA damage. That fight is the epitome of an uphill battle.

The same cannot be said about a fighting a warrior for this specific instance.

The flaw in your logic is someone did beat the guardian. On a thief. And went on to win that tourney. So. By real logic, that guy is the best thief.

But by all means, conveniently leave that part out.

I also love how nobody has mentioned Kronos Xnm in this yet. He won two high value tourneys, and he proves day in and day out he’s the best thief in the game.

If anybody has the chops to prove they’re better, PM him and duel him. Record it and post your “victory” here.

Caed really is no good, nor is any player who relies on D/P. That’s sad. A lot of thieves mentioned here are better than Caed, including Amon.

As proof there’s a post around this same thread of me raging because many others started to run d/d because of Daphonix. I want to say that I would not love Ele as much as I do now without the help of daphoenix’s guide, his build, to me, was the first stepping stone for mastering the Elementalist class. For that, I respected him.
IMO, winning duels does not make someone a great player, it’s teaching and helping others realize how fun a class can be.

I don’t discount his guides and help at the time. It had great relevance and helped a good deal of people.

But the definition of a great player is foggy at best. There’s a lot of facets of the game one can be “great” at. For me, I only particularly have ever cared about martial skills.

I deleted that post because of the insults. Read the one above. I take it easy on players I don’t consider much of a challenge and play like whatever. Against your tutoring master Serane, it was a different story. It is not about beating him in a lame pointless duel. It is about realizing what he did for the entire ele community at his time and it is still carrying on up to this day.

You really have nothing to go off of. You can insult me and Serane, who are arguably equals at this point, but I know I’ve trained up 20-30 eles in the past few months, and I get requests daily for advice. I know Serane helps people in the same way. We work towards eles who know more about their class. You just insult and sling condescension at people who aren’t playing the same build as you.

Duels aren’t lame and pointless to some. They’re all I really care about in this game. It’s where I get my kicks from the game. That’s no less worthwhile than someone who zergs or someone who spvps.

The threshold for respect is so arbitrary. Some people are so sensitive and defensive that any negativity is seen as disrespect. Every negative opinion shouldn’t have to be watered down because people need emotional babysitters.

We aren’t trying to praise him as a hero, but he should be respected because he somewhat laid the foundation for dagger tank builds to this day. Evolutionists still praise Charles Darwin for his discovery, even though that theory has since been further developed.

Lastly, discrediting fresh air does no service to you or Daphoenix. I mentioned Fresh Air as an alternative to dagger/dagger. That wasn’t the only alternative that Daphoenix recommended. As a matter of fact, in his blog, and in one of his original videos he discussed several variations of builds, as well as giving advice and helping others develop their own builds.

Try as you may to discredit Daphoenix, he was a very smart, and very good player. He knew well what the capabilities of an elementalist were and he mastered all forms of that class almost to perfection.

The majority of d/d eles already run “your build”. The reason you don’t post it is because everyone knows about it. It is in sPvP they added a new map that is basically for team deathmatch, no points no objectives at all just kill the other people.

This. Watch his videos. I watched them for the first time this morning. He never kills anybody. He either lets his Zerg do it or runs.

Yeah I don’t agree with your logic there. The game existed a year without fresh air, so it wasn’t their plan to begin with, and fresh air isn’t a trait everyone chooses.

Excellent points my man. I have been advocating for a long time for this heal to receive a change to a gradual cooldown so that it is more intuitive.

This would improve skillful play and the survivability of eles.

The change would go as such: when you start casting the skill, the first pulse happens .25 seconds after casting, and after that first pulse, the cooldown is broken into fractions based on when the skill is ended. This gives users the option to heal two pulses, but dodge an incoming signet of spite or eviscerate, and have the heal come back in a matter of 4 seconds.

The fraction would be the length of the cooldown divided by each pulse.

This is true, but you rarely see much use out of this advantage given its short range.

I don’t think they need much change. I’ve in the past asked for most of our attacks to be whips for continuity.

Flame whip, lightning whip, earth whip and vapor blade is fine, I love the skill, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it getting changed to water whip.

This kind of simplifies our autos if they were all to be the same range, just with different damage modifiers.

I’m sure my two favorite condition fans are in here, but I’m just popping in to say conditions, at least chill for eles, need some type of correction. In my opinion, reducing the duration would be fine.

Fix chill only hurting eles 10x more than other classes, and we’ll truly be peachy.

Anyways, funny suggestion. I’d like to see OPEN PvE get a PK system, that way guilds could war over territory, but nothing really past that.
