I think Anet will after bring some new content out for WvW or mix it up in some way soon…at the moment they have just got into a rut of just bringing out a new passive skill per month for Wxp and that’s it…
Need something more over next 4 months or so remaining of this year…
20 gold converts into 100 gems because they are letting too much actual gold enter the game too easily.
The way I understand the gem system…this could NEVER happen because all the gems people buy for gold are gems other players bought with real $$$ and used to buy gold…
So if gold becomes more plentiful and thus more people buy gems with gold rather than $$$ then the gold to gem price will go up considerably…
Inflation has already happened since the game came out a year ago now…
Anet have done a great job of controlling inflation…John Smith…probably the best I have ever seen…but players always find a way to make loads of money and thus create inflation.
Has the rewards are still the same as a year ago kind of…Anet need to boost rewards so it catches up with inflation that has took place in GW2, this is very, very important for new players or players who have not been playing from day 1. They need a way to catch up. So extra rewards are really only putting GW2 back to a level’ish playing field.
Basically you will have more gold, feel richer but in practice your 200g now will be worth what 25g was worth 1 month after game came out…
If you want to farm champions at a higher level but still want to out level them, wouldn’t Sparkfly Fen be better?
I am thinking of the lab near where Tequatl spawns…the event happens very regular and if there are enough players you get loads and loads of krait champions. Its harder than Queensdale but they still die fairly quickly and most 80’s should be able to do it without getting downed/dieing…
Once your ‘intro’ is over…click pvp icon at top of screen…click enter the mists…your in pvp land…your level 80 with ALL skills/traits, access to all pvp weapons, other equipment.
Sort your traits, skills, weapons, sigils, runes out…practice on dummies if you want…jump into spvp game.
There isn’t really a ranged class in GW2, also when at ranged in a group you are very weak and a weak link in the group. Gw2 combat mechanics encourage all classes to be in melee no greater distance from each other than a dodge roll for maxium effect.
Having said that Warriors are probably the strongest ranged with a bow now…
Ranger recently got heavily NERFED by having there shortbow range reduced by 25%, all 5 skills!?! So SB is rubbish now, axe is probably better. Also, Longbow still has a major flaw in that the 1 skill, which is always going to be your most used skill is very, very bad and always has been.
Thief shortbow range got nerfed as well, 1 skill by 25% but its not a bad weapon, no cooldowns make it pretty good.
I would always advise having a melee weapon as your alternative.
Warrior better than guardian at PvE/dungeons (but not fractals), decent in WvW but guardian better and in sPvP slightly, only slightly subpar but inferior to a Guardian.
Guardians arguably the best class in GW2 so none of the other classes fare that well when compared to it except in certain ‘niche’ areas…
I feel its worth mentioning that we would schedule tests for an hour or so and some of them would stay all day trying to beat it. But they were having fun, and that’s whats most important to me.
I take it one of those staying ‘all day’ to complete it, was testing the Ranger?
Well the Guardian tester had his feet up after half an hour?
How did his/her pet do in the boss fight? End up dead 70% of the fight and on cooldown by any chance?
Sounds interesting anyway…but expect plenty of ‘this is impossible because of x’ threads…
Its not inflexible…its designed to sell you transmutation stones from the gem store…which are probably one of the best selling items…working as intended.
If I knew there wasn’t going to be any godkitten dragons I wouldn’t have bothered…stop messing about with wishi, washi content with a rotating 2 weekly fashion show of fluffy pink rainbow back items and get onto the DRAGONS!
Oh its really tough choosing 1 so I will have a top 3:-
1) Mad King, dungeon/labyrinth were awesome…
2) Flame & Frost the end part with the dungeon (also the Bram/Rox instances) was excellent…
3) Southsun when we had 200% MF/GF that was fantastic too…
Condition damage is when you literally inflict a condition on another player like bleeding or burning for example. They can be removed instantly via condition removal, so do no damage or little damge. However, if not removed they inflict damage every second. If you read the tool tips for SB(Ranger) its obvious most of its damage is done via inflicting conditions. LB(Ranger) inflicts few if any conditions and does direct damge, direct damage is mitigated by armour/toughness…
Basically if you want to do high direct damage then high power, prcesion, crit damge.
If you are running a condition damage build, obviously go power, condition damage for highest damage.
Loads of people are playing the game because my server Seafarers Rest(EU) is teeming with players…
But my friends list, 90% of them have not logged in for months and months…ie give the game up, so I find it hard to believe gw2 retains 83% of its players…
I would say 500,000+ players out of the 3m who bought the game still continue to play…
Knew about it a couple of months before release…a lot of other games forums had links to youtube videos of it in beta and it created quite a stir by looking very good…which it is…
Those links must have been on the Diablo 3 / Torchlight games forums, as those were the games I was playing at the time…
I am more of a ARPG player than a MMO player, so watched a dozen vids, read about half a dozen reviews before buying it on release day…was a good decision…
The immersion of the two markets would be horrible, no matter how they did it.
For the new players in Asia it would be…really high, out of reach prices…
For the economically savvy players who are sitting on piles of gold it would be a license to print money…
I think Asia would after have a separate TP for the first 6 months until its economy matures…just the price of gems alone would be a huge disadvantage to Asia players if it was still one global TP…
Leave Barrage alone, its very good in WvW, it gives me dozens of loot bags, especially when used with sharpened stone and zephyr…
The 1 skill is still rubbish on LB, however…
I never said to completely delete the skill from the game but move it to utilities which you can swap at any given time. What is barrage doing to you when you’re not zerging in wvw? Not much///
I don’t want it removed from LB, from a loot gathering perspective Barrage is by far the best skill. Not only does it give me loads and loads of loot bags in WvW, it gives me loads of loot in PvE as well. I just run around aggro loads of them, group them up, barrage, sharpened stone, zephyr = quickest way to kill mobs for a ranger.
Moving it to a utility would be a TERRIBLE idea, that means I would lose one of my current utility skills off my bar, no thanks…
Personally, I am happy with skills 2-5 on LB, they are all useful. Its that rubbish 1 skill that sucks, honestly if it was as fast as shortbow 1 skill but inflicted no condition, had increased direct damage, LB would be a great weapon…
It depends how powerful you feel, if you think you die too much, do Brisban otherwise continue with Gendarran…
Just in case you didn’t know you can step right into Gendarran from Lions Arch (portal is in north of LA) which is handy. Also, if you head east from there, theres a 30-40 zone, Lorners Pass (or something like that) which is good to do as well…
You also have the option of going through the Asura stargate in Divinitys Reach to another group of zones…which are good fun too…the gate is in eastern Divinitys Reach…
2. I personally like the conquest model with some strategy/tactics mixed in. Needs more/different modes however. Needs a much better matchmaking system.
3. No, not active in sPvP for some time (I play 2-4 hrs WvW most days), not even tried that new PvP map. No rewards at all for doing sPvP, so something else always wins the battle for my playing time.
4. I prefer WvW by a HUGE, HUGE margin…its far more dynamic, vastly more strategy and tactics involved. Battles in WvW are memorable and you feel like a true hero on occasion. Its also just about rewarding enough for you not to be concerned that you might be missing out by not doing PvE. WvW guilds are huge, some are 500 players strong and you have a great time playing together in WvW. Honestly, I don’t know of 1 sPvP guild…
I agree, its exactly what they did, your the hero, center of the story, alls well till level 30 then you play second fiddle to a ‘real’ party of hero’s, then you become a soldier/a small part of a bigger order. Finally, your a zero, awaiting rezzing on a dungeon floor, well some other players kill the dragon for you and are true heros…
Personal story = hero to zero in 80 levels…
Good idea, shame it gets completely derailed after level 30…
I would prefer a proper expansion that’s the same quality of GW2 at release…
The ‘shallow’ 2 week content is very hit & miss…
I just look it up on dulfy and see if there is anything I fancy doing, the last 3 updates I have done very little, largely avoided them…don’t think I have missed anything much…
It doesn’t matter if Evon loses, just give him a ball of string and he will be forever happy, you also put the vid on youtube and get loads of hits too…
I like the fact it deselects targeting on you, so opponents constantly after reselect you as a target.
Rather like it in WvW…in PvE stealths not so good anyway, that’s why some thieves moan, the ai is just happy to wait out the stealth then attack you anyway…
