I want ANet to do what they want.
so this means you want 2 weeks then?
A proper expansion with new character classes, a new proper set of zones, you know like the ones we had at launch with a epic storyline revolving around a dragon…
hmmm i want that too.
i believe everyone wants that.but for the time being, we get 2 weeks content shoved down our throats.
i wanna find out what everyone else thinks.
2 weeks … or 1 month?
Put me down as other…then…
So we are comparing living story with expansions ?
Yes, we are really, because the living story’s are instead of a expansion…Anet have said they are not ruling a expansion out in the future but have no plans beyond the Living Story for the next year or so…ie no work being done/started on a expansion…
A proper expansion with new character classes, a new proper set of zones, you know like the ones we had at launch with a epic storyline revolving around a dragon…
To you loners/solo players out there…aren’t you playing the wrong kind of game?
The clues in the title MMO…Massive Multiplayer Online…your mean’t to play as a group…that’s the point?
Surely a ARPG would be a better choice of game, those revolve around solo play but you can play co-op if you fancy it…
Guru wanted to do one for both PvE and WvW, either monthly or bi-monthly with the devs…
BUT
No one from PvE or WvW would host it or show any interest in hosting it…
So everyone in PvE & WvW can’t complain about nerfs or ‘balance’ changes to there characters.
I think the best part is that if you look back, even just one patch to the next, you can easily see the improvement that they’ve made, be it from feedback received or just intuition improvements. It’s quite amazing and they don’t get enough credit. Too many naysayers on the forums.
Its fantastic how much they have improved my Ranger…they have done such a fantastic job that I have not played that character since the last patch and unlikely to ever again in the future…thanks Anet…good work…
I really love my Elementalist too, but I am 100% confident that the ‘balancing’ team can do a equally good job with her in the future…go for it Anet…I have 100% confidence in you…to destroy anything that is good about all 8 character classes slowly by ‘balancing’ them…
Really, GW2 revolves around your character whichever you play and Anet have proved repeatedly that they will destroy characters/builds without hesitation…so whats the point in playing GW2?
Do people (a lot of people) really want harder content?
I ask because the Karka Queen is hard content, it even gives 2 rares as a reward, yet its completely deserted on the majority of servers…no one does it…
Also, Orr is made hard, huge complain thread…literally a ghost town…
AC dungeon changed, made harder, 80% of players never go near it again…again multiple huge complain threads…
The evidence seems to suggest only a small minority, but vocal on those forums want harder content?
Just saying, pointing out the facts, I have nothing against harder content personally…
I can’t help wondering what happens when rival mmo’s release big meaty expansions…will GW2 players stay with living story or jump ship?
If there is never going to be a expansion for GW2, which they seem dead set upon, from all statements we have seen/heard so far, I presume there’s never going to be any additional professions or for that matter any new big areas (consisting of multiple zones), this is the message I am getting anyway…
If, however, there is to be a new class, I would like to see a archer/missile weapon specialist because no such class like that exists in GW2 and its a bit of a void…like a lot of other people I mistakenly thought it was Ranger, but apparently they are kitten, rubbish, pathetic zookeeper class…

Can you be invited into other players instances/homes and mine there quartz?
Or do you just mine your own quartz on a daily basis?
People where creating new characters to farm the new JP…
1) Set up Mesmer portals…
2) Just keep creating new characters/do JP, delete new character…
3) Entire guilds where doing it, so if they had not patched it you would have had hyper inflation, introducing 1000’s of gold to economy…
It was a repeat of what was done with SAB…
Really, they should have a checklist of previous exploits so they can quickly run through any ‘loopholes’…
1) WvW and PvE are balanced around sPvP, resulting in a lot of unfair or not needed nerfs to skills/abilities.
2) The trait system is too rigid and not flexible enough, it allows far less build diversity than a open ended system and often forces you to take traits you do not want or stats you do not want. I have seen a lot of ways to assign abilities and its one of the worst ever…
3) At a certain point there is no progression at all character wise other than get a new skin to wear for a couple of weeks/a month before it ends up collecting dust in your inventory…
Raids are coming to GW2…
Ascended armour/weapons are planned at some point during 2013…
Join the dots…
I can see the rewards for raids being a new form of token which when you have enough you exchange for ascended armour/weapons…the reward for raids has to be something very, very good so it makes sense.
Why?
Rewards from the dungeons are not better than rewards from the open world.IF they add ascended armor and weapons to the raids it is extremely unlikely that they won’t add other ways to get it as well (such as Laurels/WvW/Crafting).
Well, last year fractals was the only way to get ascended gear for a considerable period of time…
Its possible this time, that as well as being the main reward for raids, they introduce them as a very, very expensive laurel purchase…
You have NO CHANCE whatsoever of them being available by crafting or WvW…that’s not the way Anet do things judging from there history…

I know its a noob question but what is skillceiling?
Hardest class to master/be good with…
Bored of back items now…given us loads recently…
How about ascended/exotic air breathers for a change?
The ‘fatal’ mistake is having a OP build in sPvP that gets loads of players jumping on the bandwagon…
Ranger wise nothing stood out at all until BM Ranger, then thousands of desperate Rangers jumped on it, just glad to have a ‘decent’ build for once. Anet don’t like that so Ranger gets nerfed in sPvP, which destroys Ranger in WvW/dungeons and has a negative effect on PvE.
Necro, has become a recent bandwagon class, if it continues, same will happen to Necro…
I would say Ranger because of the level of skill required to manage a misbehaving, constantly dieing, never in f2 range and draws lots of aggro to you pet, plus your own skills on top takes so much skill, its mindboggling…
All other classes, even Ele with 4 attunements is a cakewalk in comparison…
All, Rangers who pull it off deserve a gold medal…
They are going to bring out 1 unlimited tool that harvests all 3 types of node…once a decent amount of time has passed after they release the unlimited axe…
I can only judge on my server, Seafarer’s Rest (EU) and via WvW when your playing other servers…
I see hordes of people all the time…
So my guess would be lots people play GW2, only Anet could put a exact number on it thou…
However, parts of GW2 are very dead, like 16 to 70 level zones, its not culling either, often they could be just half a dozen players in that zone if your lucky…
Also, all the dungeons other than CoF1, Arah plus 1 or 2 others are heading towards ‘dead’ status…
If you think about it, it makes sense, the games been out nearly a year, the vast majority are lvl 80 and have all there exotic gear. All the people who have levelled alts have got anything from 4-8 lvl 80’s and likewise got all there exotic gear…so no need to play those areas of the game anymore…
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
those stupid minor traits revives 10% faster should be deleted i rather have nothing there
All 8 classes have traits like those, no one ever uses them afaik…reviving when dead is a waste of time in PvP anyway, just let them port back and rejoin the fight…
Really, when you look through the entire traits of all 8 classes, you could delete 60-70% of them and few people would complain…there is really very limited build diversity across all classes…
You could try the lfg website, looking for 20+ people to do Karka queen…
Otherwise just the odd guild may do it…
You can go in the PvP lobbey and practise with level 80 characters in full exotics/full skills/traits to see which you prefer yourself…
My personal advice is Guardian, great at everything…
Welcome!
Let a fellow American answer your two specific questions..
My tip for you would be, don’t roll or create a Ranger…
Get them nerfed like shortbow then they are really easy to manage, because you just salvage them…
The centaurs chopped them all down…like open fields to gallop across you see…
Really, I think if you just put all the ranger traits and weapons in a bucket, and mix them all up, it would all work about as well as the builds we have now.
Funny you should say that…
That was the EXACT method Anet used when designing/building the current trait system…
I believe when the new rewards revamp comes out…currently pending…they are going to nerf CoF, thus avoid (hopefully) a lot QQ’ing…
No expansion…that’s what Anet say…unless its labled Top Secret…for Ncsoft’s eyes only…
Just temp. content which lasts 2-4 weeks and is then gone forever…
ENJOY!
I agree totally
Either change eagle eye trait to include SB, so range goes back to 1200 if you take the trait or change LB to 1500 (standard), SB 1200(standard) and axe 900 (standard).
Before when SB was 1200, in WvW, I used SB as my skirmishing weapon for ‘dancing’ in front of a enemy zerg that outnumbered us, so it was like dancing along the edge of a very high cliff, one misstep you were dead. I was moving around 900-1200 range in this deadly dance…
Now at 900 range, I move around 600-900 range in front of the zerg, guess what happens now? Yes dead parrot…errr Ranger…its like dancing on the edge of a cliff with one foot permenantly dangling over the cliff…your always going to die…
It was nerfed for 1 reason and 1 reason only, to force Rangers to use LB…
Force players to stop using a weapon they liked to use a weapon they hated…
In Anet world it makes perfect sense…
They have done this tactic loads of times in the past and will continue to do it in the future…god knows how many players have quit GW1 and now GW2 over this type of attitude to balancing…
3 weeks ago, I started my Ranger…
This is the problem.
+1
Really bad timing, rolling a Ranger when everyone else is deleting there’s…
Its a MMO, by definition you play with other players…
If you want, ‘solo’ dungeons or solo gameplay try the other hundreds of games that cater for that?
Its true the Ranger is useless in every aspect of GW2 now…
By all means re-roll to play another class (I haven’t played my Ranger since I saw the official patch notes) but don’t delete the character unless you need the slot…
Hopefully, in the months ahead the devs will see the complete train wreck that the Ranger is and address the problems…
I have a ‘joke’ question…
Why does a Ranger who picks up a warriors banner and uses the 1 autoattack do more damage than the Rangers greatsword 1 autoattack?
Really, its sad but true…
My guardian atm…
How about NO!
sm is perfectly fine the way it is…its a strategic/tactical magnet…why do you think EB is the most played map, because of sm…
Things you should know about sm:-
The outer wall is undefendable, its pointless ever trying to defend it. It acts as a slight brake to invaders but its main use is a place to launch attacks on a enemy server. By going along the top of the outer wall, you get very close to either servers homelands in complete safety, Also, sm is a great place to treb from…
For a serious defense of sm, its all about the inner keep, this should be where all you ac/ballistas are, especially the champion room itself. With enough defenders/siege the champion room is a suicide room for any invaders. I have spent many hours in the sm champion room, farming badges from invaders who never seem to know when to give up…
So people who don’t like the ‘themepark’ content atm…should go off do something else (whatever that maybe) and tune back in when a expansion comes out? At which point we get to have epic battles and fight dragons?
Or alternatively, lets say you love WvW like I do, just do that until the expansion comes out…
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
Could you ask the devs at the SOTG:-
1) If they considered having LB 1500, SB 1200 and axe 900 (which makes a lot of sense), instead of just nerfing SB to 900? The eagle eye trait giving extra range could be reworked…
Or alternatively…
2) Put SB in the eagle eye trait, so it gives players who take the trait a way of returning SB to 1200 range? Still a nerf because they are forced to take a trait, thus sacrifice another one. But it would mean a lot of Ranger players in PvE/WvW wouldn’t face a choice of buying all new equipment or quit Ranger completely…
3) Ranger was a very low dps class before the pet damage reduction, are they considering boosting the Rangers personal dps to make up for the reduction in future ‘balance’ patches?
4) What is the future direction for Rangers? What do the devs see as the Rangers unique selling point? What does a Ranger do better than any of the other 7 classes? Are they planning on giving Ranger any additional means of helping groups out, so partys actually want us in dungeon/instances groups, instead of ignoring Rangers or kicking Rangers?
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
I after say I agree to some extent…
I wanted a endgame the was epic struggles against different dragons…I appear to have got fashion wars 2, centered around a contrived story who’s main purpose is to sell the latest piece of junk in the gemstore.
People say you want no stat progression but really its just been replaced with a endless fashion catwalk, where players wear the latest skin for 2 weeks to a month, then get a new one, leaving the old one to gather dust in there inventory.
I think since around Jan 13, GW2 has lost any sense of direction…
Just wanted to come out of my lurk mode for a bit and let you guys know that we are watching this thread on the balance team.
Keep it constructive, but keep going, we love reading the debate!
Hi, Jon have you figured out yet that a lot of players who post in this thread put there mains at the bottom/towards the bottom of the power scale because they are scared of there favourite class being nerfed?
Aragorn sure does look good with his bow…shame it only fires as far as he can throw a axe…
Obviously, Aragorn was not a Ranger at all…just a cover story…must of been a warrior…
Over a 1000+ hrs here 5 percursors dropped, they not that rare really…need to make them far rarer…
Have not played my Necro in like forever because they where so awful…
But with the recent buffs thought I would give Necro another go…
Several hours later after a lot of PvP games and playing around with different builds my opinion is they are a lot better at killing other classes than before but always seem to die at a fairly rapid rate too. I think they still have a survivability problem…
I like the chance to escape death when things go bad, but Necro just seems to have few options, which are very medicore anyway…death shroud just makes you last a few secs longer but your still certain to die…
You will also shortly learn quit threads get locked by mods.
Also, everyone posting in this thread will get a annoying pm about the thread being closed…
Just to let everyone know…
The recent patch changes to Ranger, have also introduced at least 12+ new bugs across weapon skills/pets/utility skills…none of them good bugs either…
Its very similar to what they did to Engineer when a few months back when they changed a load of there skills, dozens of bugs effected the Engineer.
Probably take a couple of months to fix those bugs…
If you want details…go read the Ranger sub forum…lots of bleak…lol…humour going on there anyway!
Lets face facts, if you want to play a roamer now, your best bet is thief…go any where they want, no chance of dieing, weapon skills have no cooldowns, there SB is better than Ranger SB, teleportation for fast movement/escape and highest burst dps over shortest space of time…
If you still want to be all ranged then Warrior with LB/Rifle is far superior to the so called Ranger…
Rangers have no role left, are the laughing stock of GW2…
If you continue to play a Ranger in GW2 your just a mashocist…
Roll a thief…start again…
No, don’t play a Ranger…any hours you put in levelling, buying equipment are a total waste of time…
If I could go back in time to when I bought the game, wouldn’t go near the Ranger class with a 10ft pole.
Roll a guardian or thief…
