Well, for kicks I created one for the Living World debate/saga/wars/whatever. One question, five options to choose from, 30 secs of your time.
Well your survey is horribly bias with 4 options implying too much negativity against the subject matter.
Agreed.
/15characters
I enjoy that JP also.
I just got the game and got it installed. I haven’t started a character yet because I don’t know which server to pick. I live in America, so I’ll obviously want to pick an American server.
Here is a list of WvW server rankings. The higher ranked servers are usually more active and more populated than the lower ranked. However, the queue for WvW and overflow for PvE times in the higher raked servers is much higher/longer.
You know what would be cool? If you made this survey via something like survey monkey so we could see the results at a glance: https://www.surveymonkey.com/
Just make sure that in the survey you clearly define your terms.

I’m not sure why these forums don’t have integrated polls. :/
Glad you found it so quickly – and as you’ve found Cubular Fells you should try out the jumping puzzle there, its a good one
Oh that’s a fun one!!!
Yay!!!!! Great job!
This would be very helpful.
Well you have a red bar underneath your skill telling you if you are in range or not. It could be highlighted in a way so it is easier to see though, it’s rather hard right now. But it is already in the game
Yeah, I’ve played for over 1000 hours (not that impressive, I know) and just discovered that little tool last week.
1: Join in fractals groups 10 levels below your personal level. You get a karma reward that stacks up nicely.
2: events, events events.
3: (only available right now) the introduction instance for nightmare tower can be repeated and when you use boosts it can give up to 3k per 15 minutes.
This^^^^ plus this https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Best-way-to-earn-to-Karma/3156693
I have a ranger and a thief. Ranger is my favorite by far. So much more fun to play. I use long bow with axe/warhorn.
Rangers have a bad reputation, but when played properly can kick butt.
I think the bad rep comes from new and/or younger player choosing ranger for their first toon and don’t have the experience to really play to the class’ full potential.
There are some pretty awesome youtube videos of rangers kicking butt and taking names in WvW, PvE, and PvP.
My husband and I sometimes run a guardian and ranger combo. They work really well together.
Guesting on various servers may be a good option to see if a particular server fits your needs.
My first character was medium armor. I was very disappointed with the available options. I don’t have an issue with the trench coats per say, but a little variety would be nice.
I must point out that while the armor may be intended to attract the male audience, women are far more responsible for how the societies of many nations portray women as sexual objects. It was primarily women who fought, and who still fight to this day to have the freedom to wear anything they want. Woman didn’t want to always have to wear fully covering dresses with veils, so they fought to make those dresses shorter and shorter. They didn’t want to be forced to wear stockings, so they fought for that right, and they won that right. They fought to have the right to wear mini skirts, 2 piece bathing suits, followed then by even more revealing bikinis up to even dental floss g-string bathing suits that leave nothing to the imagination. Men may not have fought very hard against it and may have even been part of fighting for it, but women hold far more blame than men do for fighting for their own freedom to wear skimpy outfits. So it should not be a surprise or even an offense to see that game developers reflect that social trend and the freedom that woman fought so hard to attain. My point here is, please don’t make it seem like the female player base is wholly united against skimpy armor because I think you may be surprised that it probably isn’t true. I certainly don’t have the statics for this game, but somehow I seriously believe you are most likely in the extreme minority of players, both male and female, who would fight for less skimpy armor. If that happens to be the case, then I doubt this suggestion would be given much attention when there are far better suggestions to address that actually relate to improving the playability of the game beyond what it is now.
I’m female and consider myself a feminist, and I have absolutely no problem with the skimpy armor.
If someone doesn’t like the look of a specific armor, but likes the stats use transmutes to get the look you want.
Devona’s Rest is a ghost town as well.
I know that’s not the answer you were looking for, but I can’t really speak for other servers. So maybe process of elimination will help.
Minion Master Necro is pretty easy PvE, as well as Ranger.
There is an astounding amount of unsolicited parenting advice in this thread. OP asked a question about class choice, not about the suitability of the game for young children.
Agreed. My father in law always says, “Advice is really just an opinion. We all know what opinions are like and none of them smell like cupcakes.”
Does your friend live close? If so, invite her to play on your computer. I keep an extra open character slot for my friends to create and try out the game. When they are done, I delete the character and the slot is open once again.
Pop a Karma modifier or three (see attachment) and go hit up the new toxic events. In Kessex there is usually a zerg hitting all the events and champs. Any event on any map will give karma, but the zerg route is probably the fastest to accrue as of right now.
Lion’s Arch is a good place to find banners that guilds may have put out for public use.
Also, daily and monthly provide karma consumables.

I don’t have a problem with the idea of champ trains. People working together and profiting in an efficient manner = good.
I do, however, have a problem with the mentality the trains have sometimes. Too many times I’ve seen berating of fellow players because they chose (or were unaware) to play differently than a select few. It’s a very elitist and obnoxious attitude. I see it as a spoiled little brat throwing a fit on the playground because the other children don’t want to play by some made up arbitrary rules.
It’s getting progressively worse and is to the point of bullying. The people that act this way should be but in a serious time out. It’s normally just one or two that are “louder” than the rest, but it gives everyone involved a bad image.
How about instead of yelling, name calling, and berating when rotation is disrupted just say, “Hey we are doing a champ train, this is the rotation we are using, why do you join us and we can work together as a team.”
You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
OMG That’s fantastic!
My 7 year old daughter plays. I use the game to teach reading and comprehension skills, math skills, and team work (especially reviving). I filter the chat so that all that shows is guild chat, which is basically me, my husband, and a few IRL friends.
She is more interested in gathering, crafting, map completion, and playing dress up than killing stuff. She likes to play Ranger and Mesmer. Mesmer because it’s “magic” and Ranger because she enjoys having pets and searching for new pets!
My bank is full of crafting material, so she can craft as she pleases. Jeweler and Taylor, so she can play dress up.
She likes to go to the cities (no bad guys) and do map completion. I"ll also buy her a bunch of dyes from the trading post so she can play dress up.
She will go out into the level 1 areas to find nodes, and look at the scenery. She loves Celadon Forrest and thinks it looks like a fairy tale. If she does battle somethings, it’s usually a mosquito, firefly, or spider.
I dropped her in Lion’s Arch yesterday and told her to get inside the cauldron. She had a blast climbing to the top and being transformed into a glowing green spider, then running around LA.
Thanks.
I tried these techniques long ago, before my forced hiatus. Maguuma is the only area I don’t have fully explored. Wall crawling, mountain climbing, cave exploring, dumpster diving… well, those two spots keep eluding me,
If you could go to those maps and take a screen shot of the maps, then post them here, I’ll gladly take a look for you.
My server didn’t do well at the Labyrinth events, so I guested to a different server and had no problem getting the achievements.
Guesting is free!! Just be sure to pick a server that you are confident will complete the boss because there is a limit on guesting.
Choose race > sex > armor type (light, medium, heavy)
This will pull up a list of end game armors for your viewing pleasure.
I posted this as an answer to another question a while back, but I think the method/advice will hold true for you.
“The explorer achievements are tough because there are a few areas that don’t have POIs, vistas, skill points, etc… that counts toward regular map completion. If you have map completion for all maps in the explorer achievement, but not the achievement, then it’s probably because of this. Some are tricky to get to, and use underground entrances.
What I did was first look for areas that still looked blurry on the map. Then I would walk the edges of the map very carefully, going up into all the little nooks and crannies, caves and crevices.
Cross referencing maps help too!
Go to the wiki page for a map, and look for the areas without any map completion next to them. Click the link, and cross reference your map.
Let’s take Snowden Drifts for example.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Snowden_Drifts
You can see that there are a few that do not have map completion listed. (see attachment) Click those links, I’m using Jotun’s Vista for example, and see where the area is located on the map. (see attachment) Now look at your map and see if you see the words Jotun’s Vista. If yes, move on to the next one. If no, and the area looks shaded and not clear like the rest of the map, then that area still needs to be uncovered.
http://gw2cartographers.com/
This is also a great site to see the shape of the maps. I also used this site a good bit for world completion. Click the icons for user submitted hints; really useful on chests, vistas, and jumping puzzles. It’s also great to find locations for crafting materials (like scales and bones), and ranger pets. You can toggle the icons using the menus at the top.

I would love new/more wings in the game. Capes would be cool too, but I vote for wings first.
Please. This would be so helpful.
There could be an effect override for the dye implemented in large battles.
This thread has so much win. I love Easter eggs.

Especially in this game, I’m noticing that people buy the most expensive thing in the game to display their wealth instead of their experience with certain aspects of the game. Therefore, the tags are basically handed to complete morons that have no idea how to use it, so they rep 100% of the time and afk with it.
So they’re the MMO equivalent of European sports cars…
Aye
i hare there are rabbits you shouldn’t make mad in the game either but iv never come across it .
There was in the first Guild Wars. Out in the Far Shiverpeaks there was a rabbit that if you followed it, it lead you down into a gorgeous little location and then… well…. bad things happened.
OMG I remember this!! Hahahaha
Yeah that didn’t end well for me.

Select race, sex, and armor class. Then you can look at a list of armors. Unfortunately you can’t change the color, but if you see something you like just find the vendor or visit the trading post and preview it.
I would like it to be able to have a pet system. Is this only available on ranger?
Yes, Rangers are the only profession that have commandable pets. However, every character has the ability to summon something. The Necro can be built as a MM (minion master), and you can have a swarm of creatures.
See link for list of summons:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Summon
Warrior and Guardian are the only two heavy armor classes, so if you like that look start there. I have a warrior and my hubby has a Guardian. He can lay down the damage and take the hits just as well as I can.
One of the cool things about this game is that you can range and melee, you don’t have to choose. Start off ranged, apply crippil, freeze, and other conditions. Then swap over to melee and finish the job.
Given your preferences above, I would suggest looking into Elementalist, Necro, or Ranger.
Elementalist: holds staff but I rarely use it unless in large groups, can conjure greatsword. I use double daggers with a concentration on fire, condition damage and duration, and toughness/vitality. Talk about some fun hand to hand combat! Lots of moving and dodging.
Necro: holds staff, the staff gets the scythe looks in the hands of a necro, can summon lots of minions, can survive hand to hand combat with a little skill. I play this by using staff to inflict a lot of conditions, go into death shroud and use dark path to teleport to the enemy, then switch to my melee weapons and finish them off.
Ranger: Rangers get a bad reputation around here, but this class can provide group support and be very fun and effective when played properly. No staff, but can do some awesome stuff with a longbow – axe/warhorn combo. Can use sword and greatsword. Has pets that you can command, and traits that help with pets.
This is an awesome idea!!!
Fast forward to about 11:40 mark
My question was more about if anyone had experience with having friends on other servers, and if being on a different server had any effect on how convenient it was to quest with them. From the sound of the wiki’s explanation, though, it seems rather straightforward and easy.
A member (and friend) of my guild transferred to another server to be on a better WvW battle. After about a few weeks he was perma guesting back to my server (his old server) so we could level alts, farm, dungeons, dragons, and do story lines together. When my guild would WvW, he would be miserable. Turns out, it was more fun to loose with your friends than win with strangers and PuGs. He saved his money for a couple of months to transfer back to the old server.
Long story short, it’s easy to guest and hook up with friends, as long as you don’t want to WvW together.
Taken from http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World
Guesting
Guesting allows you to play with friends on other worlds in the same region without transferring. Guests retain guild bonuses from their home world and any influence earned will accrue to their home world’s guild.2 Guests cannot participate in World versus World and do not receive any Power of the Mists bonuses. As might be expected, if you guest to a full world, you increase your chances of ending up in overflow.
Players on North American home worlds cannot guest on European worlds or vice versa.3
How to guestFrom the character selection screen, choose World Selection. Choose the world to which you wish to guest and click on the Guest button (next to the Transfer button). After confirming your choice, the game will place a suitcase icon symbol next to the guest world. The next character you play will be guesting on that server and continue to do so until you logout, change characters, or restart the current character. To guest again (or with another character), repeat the same steps.
You are eligible to guest as many times as you like, but you may only choose up to two guest worlds every 24 hours.
Guesting alternativesThere are three situations in which you can play with people in other worlds without guesting to their server. You must be in the same party and everyone must be from the same region (North America or EU).4
Any overflow — right-click on a character’s name in the party menu and choose, join in [zone].
Dungeons and Fractals of the Mists — to enter the same instance, all five party members must be in the zone that contains the dungeon before entering.
Personal stories — with the same restriction as for dungeons.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that BBC and Textile for images don’t function as they should. My best guess is that it’s disabled to discourage some behaviors.
You can still attach an image by uploading it from your hard drive.
Wow. Some of these replies are kinda harsh.
What kind of guild are you trying to make? Many guilds have a focus area, pvp, pve/storylines, dungeons, Wvw, etc… A strong guild has a strong leader that dedicates a lot of time and gold to the guild, and can also manage people, organize events and activities, and create a good atmosphere. This is not an easy task.
Other guilds are more laid-back. The guild I lead consists of my family, and friends I know in real life. It’s a very small, casual, no pressure kinda guild. The main purpose of my guild is to have a place we can hang out, chat, and have a guild bank for sharing.
I’m also a member of a couple of other guilds. Once focuses on WvW, the other is PvE/dungeon focused. I refer to them as our “sister” guilds. If one of the other guild leaders needs help, or is doing a fun activity, they PM me and we join forces.
What I guess I’m saying is that you need to figure out what style of guild you want to have, and build the members/community. The influence will come in time.
Hi can anyone help me with changing the name of a character. My son hates the name that I gave his warrior and wont play anymore. Thanks Patman1823
Do you need help in the process in how to change the name or help to find a name for the character?
I was wondering the same thing!! Sounds like other people have done a walkthough for how to change the name.
If you’d like help naming, can you provide more info? What is the race and profession of the character? What does he want the character’s personality to be like – charming, courageous, combative, evil, etc…? What is your son into – books, video games, movies, ninja turtles, monster trucks, animals?
We have lots of creative people on the forums, I’m sure we can come up with something!

When the name is Msxjxosjmxx, and the chat log is full of gw2walmart and I AM A GOLD SPAMMER. PLEASE REPORT ME BY PRESSING THE REPORT FLAG ICON IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THIS POST! automated map chat entries, repeated over a two to three day period, how is it now obvious to a support member that the account is selling gold and needs , at minimum, squelching?
What makes this a real insult is when I commanded groups through Scarlet map invasions, multiple times, I would consistently get “excessive messaging” blocks when posting (requested and thanked for no less) waypoint links in map chat..while real spam carries on unchecked.
^^ This. +982374598723
It’s very frustrating when you are trying to command, type 4 messages spaced 5-15 mins apart, some don’t contain WPs, and get throttled. Yet, I see someone spamming gold selling websites over and over.
You must not have played World of Warcraft
OMG, my eyes are bleeding!! How is that game even playable?
There is also a mini game that is pretty fun. You can get there by visiting Lion’s Arch and talking to the guy with the pumpkin over his head. It’s near the mystic forge.
My husband and I ordered his and hers laptops last year from http://www.originpc.com/
I couldn’t be happier with our purchase. While it won’t be less expensive that the ones you’ve already found, the quality and customer service are out of this world. We were a assigned a rep who called and emailed us frequently during the building, shipping, and set up process. They were kind and knowledgeable. I’ve never had a better experience purchasing anything, ever.
You can also call them and ask questions during the pre-purchase phase. They will answer any questions and help you find the products that are right for you. Also, they sometimes have special deals/discounts that aren’t listed on the website.
If you do decide to purchase from them, buy the shipping crate . Money well spent.

I agree. It’s just a pity that NC Soft/ArenaNet are too concerned about milking as much money out of the cash shop, then actually putting in content that we the players, really want.
The thing is, they could release it as a skin and “milk” just as much (if not more) money from players.
HAHAHAHA wow that’s awesome
