+1 for this
They should go into the material bank.
You can change your status from the character select screen. Just press “Y” as soon as the game loads. You’ll be visible for a few seconds, but should be able to sneak in pretty quickly.
I do like the idea of the game “remembering” your last status and defaulting to that.
Achievements. I’m addicted to checking things off lists. :/
-1 weapons
-1 armor (from what I’ve seen)
While I can appreciate the art, and that it’s well done, I personally do not like the style and will not be grinding to get it.
I would love to see Anet hold a design contest for the community to design armor and weapons. Let anet choose their top 5 or 10 favorites, then let the players vote on the winner. The piece/set could then be named after the artist. It’s a great way to rally the community and make the players feel special and connected to the game.
While I’m not a great artist, I know may of you guys & gals are, and I would love to see your ideas!
Don’t forget to use a karma modifier.

There should also be an increase in gem card sales with the holiday season coming up. They make great stocking stuffers!
Maybe this video might help you decide on which class might potentially be FUN for you?
Good Luck!!! ^^
Cute video!
I have a lot of fun playing double dagger elementalist, with a focus on fire.

My husband and I run a Guardian – Ranger combo and have a blast doing it.
I have both a ranger and warrior that are 80s and love them equally. I think you will like them both better as you continue to level up and unlock traits. There is a big difference between a level 20 and a level 80.
I see so many people here that get to level 20ish and want to make another toon because they aren’t satisfied. And I totally understand this. I don’t enjoy leveling personally, but having leveled several toons to 80, I understand what a big difference the levels make.
I hated my warrior until about level 60 or 70. I didn’t fall in love with her until she was 80 will all exotics and ascended goodies.
My advice is to stick with it, it does get better. My ranger uses axe/warhorn combo mainly, but I will use a longbow when needed.
I do not like stomping in PvE. That is all.
+1, they should stack to 250 just like everything else
As someone with 6 characters and plans for more, I would buy it.
Honestly, I’m not a big lore person. But the Wizard’s Tower has always been intriguing to me. I’d love to find out more about it.
They are also offering refunds for people who have purchased multiples. If you are interested, contact support for a refund. They said to give them ample time to process the request due to high volume.
At the top of this page, click Support > Purchase Support > Refunds > scroll down to Gem refund > click Submit A Request
Now now, let’s all focus on the matter, gentlemen.
Please don’t exclude 40% or so if the MMORPG community. It’s rude.
So we have casual players, or players who don’t want to or can’t farm, that want to get something very expensive. What can we do about it?
This is the impotence I’m talking about. You can’t get it without dedicating yourself to the game for a lot of time.
Actually you can. It’s very easy. Acquire gems by visiting a local or online retailer and purchasing a gem card, or use your credit card via the in game method. Then convert the gems to gold. Next use the gold to purchase materials or gear from the trading post.
Unfortunately GW2 doesn’t give everyone equal possibilities. It may be that in terms of combat everyone can compete, but playing a MMORPG isn’t only about combat, it is also for the pleasure of creating a character like you want, both parameters and looks. And here we have an obvious gap.
I do agree that a good MMORPG isn’t solely based on combat and should be well rounded. However, I’m going to disagree on the opportunity portion here. Everyone has the same opportunity to make the same choices. You can choose to spend your time grinding away for hours to achieve the goal of your choice, or you can choose not to. You can choose to spend money to obtain said goal, or you can choose not to. The choice is yours to make.
This is much like real life. I want an egg and cheese bagel for breakfast. (goal)
Option 1: I can go to my kitchen, toast a bagel, cook an egg, and assemble the sandwich. —-—> mmmmm breakfast!
Option 2: There is a restaurant across the street. I can go to the restaurant, and purchase an egg and cheese bagel. —-—> mmmmm breakfast!
Option3: I do neither and decide to play on the forums. —-—-> hungry
(*Based on a true story. Maybe that why I’m cranky today. -_- )
So, Anet, make these materials more frequent to get via different activities, but don’t think only about the farmers who can farm things per hours or about another RNG system.
I don’t know, maybe a new dungeon that once completed allows you to select a very small amount of rare materials to get. Something that gives you a reward for your effort that even casual players can afford, in a similar way you get ascended materials now at the end of a dungeon.
This would completely diminish the accomplishment of others. The reason certain materials and gear are so prized is because they are hard to get. If you take away the difficulty, then you also take away the value. The rarer items are a reward. A reward for working hard and/or spending money [read: supporting Anet]. I do not believe that should be taken away.
If I were to go to a college and say, “I think you should give me a doctorate because it’s not fair that I do not have the money or time to complete the program!” They would promptly escort me off campus while laughing.
Most servers have their own private forums as well as their own Teamspeaks. I suggest going to WvW and ask for access.
Then what’s the point of having official forums?
So the community as a whole can gather to discuss, celebrate, laugh, debate, provide feedback, get update and bug information, report bugs, allow the community to help each other with general game play questions, bring up new ideas, allow the company to get an idea of player satisfaction, assistance with account and support tickets, provide a platform for company <—> player interaction…. just to name a few.
The reason we probably won’t see server specific sub-forums is because the servers compete against each other. It would be too easy for the opposing server to browse their competition’s forums to see when they are planning attacks and what strategies they are using.
Since these services (forums, teamspeak, etc…) are available elsewhere, there is no need to Arenanet to spend time/resources to develop and moderate them.
Mel, I understand your concern, and I assure you I would not report a bot if I wasn’t 100% positive that they were, in fact, a bot. I understand how annoying it is to be accused of doing something wrong when you are clearly not doing it. There is a big difference, however, between running around and killing everything to blow off steam, and running around the exact same path repeatedly for 8+ hours every day for four days in a row. When i say exact same path, I mean it. They were there every single time I ran my Soft Wood path in Diessa Plateu, running that same exact path. They did the EXACT same movement over and over again, with pauses to change direction and a jump several seconds after they start moving forward every single time. I’ve also seen them get stuck in a tree for about a minute, and repeatedly try the exact same method of slightly turning to the right, running foward, jumping, running forward some more and then stopping, just to try again. No human being would be perfect enough to run the exact same motion repeatedly that many times, and yet careless enough to get stuck behind a tree for a minute.
Apologies. I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was attacking you. From what you described it does indeed seem like you ran into a bot. I was just throwing my personal experience out there as a cautionary tale so that others would make a careful and informed decision when reporting, instead of jumping to conclusions.
Funny story. After reading this thread I was working on the Hyle slayer and greatsword master achievement yesterday, and I was running in a circle in Cuatl Morass over and over for quite a while. I was thinking, “I hope someone doesn’t report me 0.o” :P
Also, if anyone has even read this far, I WOULD find a guild on HoD that does dungeons, but currently I am in a small guild that roams and does a lot of WvW and they are a nice bunch so if someone does see this and want to I guess recruit me, note that I probably will not be leaving as I still want to WvW as my main activity in the game.
Thanks
This may be information that you already know, but since you’re new I feel the need to share it just in case.
This game allows you to be a part of multiple guilds, and rep as you see fit. While some guilds are very strict about “ONLY REP US RAWRRRRR”, I have found that most are pretty lax, especially if honest with them going in.
I mainly rep 3 guilds.
1) My own personal guild consisting of family and IRL friends.
2) A WvW focused guild.
3) a dungeon/fractals focused guild
So depending on what I am in the mood to do, I’ll rep different guilds.
Would you like something completely different than a warrior to play with, or do you like the tanky style?
If you are looking for something completely different, I’d suggest going a light armor class. Mesmer, Necro, Elem
I don’t have much experience with mesmer, but it seem to be popular and players seem to enjoy playing it.
I’m having ablast with my new Necro.
Dagger dagger Elementalist is a lot of fun.
I am all for wvw alt-friendliness. I don’t agree with OP’s idea though. The only way it would make sense was if turning on the Commander tag automatically changed your display name to your account name. That way when troll Commander Gabby decides to switch to another alt, and troll with them as the commander instead, it still says “Commander Gabby”. If OP amends this to their original submission I would support it.
This is a great solution. I know lots of good commanders that I believe should be able to switch toons (especially when doing so in support of the group) and keep their tag.
+1 for account bound commander tags
+1 for commander tags displaying account name
The Community Team has updated some features on the Guild Wars 2 Forums which give us a tiered system of forum privileges & access based on number of infraction points. We decided to offer this tiered approach so players lose various privileges versus receiving harsher suspensions and permanent bans. We would like our players to consider their posting habits and encourage following the Code of Conduct. We are confident that this approach is more conducive to guiding a more positive experience for our community.
This is a great idea. I love the slap on the hand approach, but is there some way to better communicate this info to players?
For example, if someone’s signature privies get revoked, and email/PM saying “Due to excessive infraction points, your signature privileges have been revoked for x number of days” ? This may already be in place, and I’m just unaware, but I’ve seen several people post about confusion on why their signature won’t work.
Alternatively, is there a reward for forum members with accounts in good standing? As in some sort of special privileges, other than not having any taken away? If not, this is an area that can be utilized to encourage better posting habits from the community aslo.
I consider myself a nice and social person IRL, but I like alone time and unwind time too.
When I’m not in a party, WvW, or guild events, I frequently turn my chat off and play alone. This is relaxing for me. If my guild mates need me, then know to whisper.
A few weeks ago, I was leveling a new alt. So I was running around killing everything. (It’s a frustration reliever )A friend whispered to me saying that someone was accusing me of botting in map chat. Because I was killing everything in sight and not responding to their chat I must be a bot. (facepalm)
Bots are bad, I’m not arguing that at all. But please be very certain before reporting people as bots. I would hate to see legit players have their accounts terminated unfairly.
From here idk if are others but from here i can lvl realy fast http://www.gw2crafts.net/
^^^^^ I Like that one too for leveling.
If I know exactly what piece I want, and want to craft it, or want to know if it’s cheaper to but or craft I use http://www.gw2spidy.com/
Here is an example. http://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/6664
You can see if it’s more cost efficient to buy or craft, and it also lists exactly what you need and how much.
Best. Thread. Ever.

My Necro is a darn good self healer with support heals and condition removals as well.
Have you tried taking it out of the bank and putting it in your inventory, then trying to sell it.
I know it’s a long shot, and the posters above me a probably right, but I’ve ran into a few things that I’ve had to take out of my bank, then open my inventory before I could sell.
For the love of Dwayna.. YES!!
I’m looking at you Mr buy order of thick leather sections at 1c.
^This
Also silk scraps.
I use my smart phone.
I like the idea of the cosmetics. A beard, hair accessory, santa hat, tattoos, make up, etc… It’s fun to play dress up! (See: every player that has ever saved up for a specific set of armor for looks + dye prices).
However, I do not like the “temporary” part. Limited edition is fine, as in it’s only available for purchase for short period of time. Limited use makes panda babies cry.
I do not like the tax idea. (Who the heck likes taxes?)
Just because a handful of people would like to see a tax system, it doesn’t make it a good idea to impose onto the whole player base. Being forced to do something in a game does not make happy players. Options are good.
There is an option to deposit gold into the guild bank. If a guild wants to make tithing a requirement for their guild, that’s fine, members would have a choice to participate in that guild or not. As a guild leader, it would be very easy to see if the members are donating simply by going to the bank history tab.
Also wanted to include some more screenshots.
Can view them here: http://stinvec.imgur.com if you would like.
I use FXAA PPI for enhanced anti-aliasing, color richness, bloom effect, sharpness, etc.
I also have side-by-side comparisons with ‘vanilla’ GW2 settings there.
Beautiful!!!!
ooooohhhhhh ok
The green may be “sour”
I’m not sure about the brown because I don’t use brown on any of my toons.
You can look through the dyes on the TP, right click, and preview.
Here are some websites that may help narrow your search:

Just my two cents, so take it for what it’s worth…..
I personally wouldn’t switch crafting professions. Since all alts share the same bank, I would crate a new toon and let them craft. 1) no fee for the new crafting profession 2) you can quickly level up the new toon just by crafting.
Even if you don’t want to play it as a main toon, it’s quite fun to see how other professions and races work, and it’s a nice change of pace. If you really don’t like the toon, you can give them some big banks, and use it as extra storage.

My daughter loves to run around in The Grove and Caledon Forest because, “it looks like a fairytale.” I have to agree, it’s quite breathtaking.
It looks like you have them matched pretty well already, or am I missing something??
Your best bet would be to use one of the websites that determine the cheapest option for you based on current TP prizes:
http://www.gw2crafts.net/artificing_400.html
This^^^ It’s a great site.
This is such a happy thread!!! I love seeing this kind of stuff.
This is flawed on so many levels. Also, this is what the TP is for.
Yes, please do a TP clean up
I would love this too. If I remember correctly, I think they tried this during Beta. My memory could be totally warped though.
(facepalm)
This sounds similar to the elitist attitudes and behaviors of champ trains. Clearly some people weren’t hugged enough as a child.
I’m pretty sure if this type of behavior occurred in school or the workplace it would be classified as bullying.
(edited by Mel.8769)
I’m not sure if it’s the absolute fastest, but if you are on a high population server and running in a zerg, and you are using some sort of XP modifier (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Xp), then it’s pretty efficient.
What I’m doing to level my newest toon, is run the Toxic events until I’m appropriate storyline level, do personal story, then go back to Toxic.
*Check Lion’s Arch for banners.
Getting lots of 502s this morning.
+1 to most every post above me
That would be nice! I might actually BUY keys of that were the case.
I’m flabbergasted at the beautiful simplicity of this idea. It makes so much sense!
