My *guess* on release date - with "evidence"

THey announced it way too soon imo. I have zero motivation to play now.
The only way they could do that is by adding a new Orrian zone, only accessable through HoT, to ensure chatracters that haven’t killed Zhaitan yet can’t wander in there and break their precious immersion.
I leveled about 7 characters through the NPE now. It’s mind-numbing, yes, but not all that bad. You’ll get used to it.
I hate underwater because I have zero depth perception down there, and I’m expected to fight there.
In the air, I hope exploration is all I’ll be expected to do, so I don’t mind the y-axis.
I also hated air combat in Aion, btw.
PvE Masteries not usable in existing maps?

… hang gliding in the far shiverpeaks makes no scence.
Ever played Far Cry 4? I can assure you hang gliding in the mountains makes a lot of sense. And it’s “cool” as hell.
Well, you also claimed the ghost was “more definitely not the Ghostly Hero”, and “likely Rurik”.
We all know how that turned out. Personally a think it’s just a Mursaat redesign. We all know how radically Anet redesigned much of their art, and not just creatures but landscapes and lore too. They don’t seem to care too much about continuity.
The Mursaat appear to have the power to “hide” in the mists. A lot of their powers are “mist-related”. Like “spectral” agony. Isn’t it possible they are “demons” (GW lore demons) – creatures born from the Mists itself? And therefore as ALien to Tyria as humans and the Gods?
If that was true, more Mursaat could “spawn” from the Mists and enter Tyria to replenish their numbers.
Make it feel alive by kicking everyone inactive for longer than two weeks (who did not warn they would be absent for longer for a holiday or illness or whatever).
Recruit only those you feel would actively bring something to the guild, not randoms.
Oh, the humanity.
Guild Wars 2 has many typo’s, if you look carefully. Report them and move on.
though it would be pretty cool if that turned out to be what became of trahearne and caladbolg :P
“This won’t end well… for you!”
The second Tree will be in the expansion. I suggest we just wait and see, hmm?
First, this doesn’t really belong in the lore forum; it’s pure speculation.
Second… I will never understand why so many people enthusiastically want to replicate humanity’s worst mistakes and evils in their games. Let’s skip the internment camps, thank you. You realize there are people alive today, quite possibly even people playing this game, who were forced into one of those? (Yes, believe it or not, old folks can play vidya games too.)
It’s not material suitable for Guild Wars 2.
Lol, yeah. Internment camps bad, non-stop murder and carnage okay? This kind of stuff happens, and you or any other oppressive government won’t stop artists from showing this on their works.
By the way, the camp approach simply works. It is NEEDED. They are tryng to KILL all of us. Weakness like yours would be Tyria’s downfall.
of course, there’s always the chance that those 3 are the only ones left, just 3 mursaat living on their own, in a ghost city, waiting to die.
Yeah, those three just sat there for 250 years with no hanky-panky to replenish their numbers.
Please.
If they were “waiting to die”, wouldn’t they have died centuries ago?
They are dragon minions now, and act like them. Do you show Risen mercy? Mordrem wolves? No. So why show mercy to Mordrem based on humans instead of wolves?
Kill all corrupted Sylvari, I say. And treat those who aren’t corrupted (yet) with suspicion… for your own safety.
I can haz your stuff?
As others have said, RP’ers were never the target demographic.
I’ve never had so much in the game before. Leveling finally feels “right”. I get that level-up “ding!” before the point I get discouraged/bored, and that’s a big reason why I’m having so much fun! I have a lot of characters to level, so I appreciate this event even more =)
I don’t really know how these things work, as I’m not a techie. Wouldn’t allowing us to download all game files to our machine be sufficient? I’m not really sure why it would have to be so expensive.
“Living Story is an expansion’s worth of content”.
Hello,
Mods, feel free to move this to where ever you feel this belongs most. I opted to post this on the Guild Wars 2 forums because the original Guild Wars obviously has no official forum (and the unofficial ones are dead), and I’d like to make sure devs can read this.
Like many, I’ve spent an unholy amount of time playing the original Guild Wars. As it stands right now, Guild Wars is actually mostly entirely solo’able. We have heroes, and henchmen. Except PvP and elite content (DoA…), this could work well as a single player RPG. So here’s what I was thinking – how about making Guild Wars available in offline mode? Instead of having a client downloader, allow owners of the game to download all the game data like with all other offline games, and ensure we can play Guild Wars for all eternity (or until the next Dragonrise!). I know Anet have said maintaining the old servers costs them little to nothing, but still – it would give us a sense of reassurance that our hard work will never be lost.
You could even allow players who still wish to play together with their friends or guild to rent servers, as some games already do. At a low, low price of course ;-) Maybe even custom servers, where you can allow others to join or not.
Guild Wars Offline: yay or nay?
(edited by Mental Paradox.3845)
Yeah, that definitely a game-breaking feature.
And that my friends, is why things like the NPE exist. Remember the human female idle animations? Too confusing for new players, I guess.
The PC can’t command the pact as Marshall, as (s)he is affiliated with a specific order.
Not sure who else I’d nominate for the position.
Paying for someone’s hard work is soooo mainstream.
sigh
Sorry man, but you just sound unskilled.
ALso on my ranger, aced it on the first try. And I’m not even a good player. I get roflstomped in dungeons and PvP. My character wears some exotic junk I cobbled together, not even paying attention to stats.
Tasty tears. Mhhh.
Seriously though, there’s nothing dishonest about any of this. The base game is B2P. So is the additional content, as it is with every other game ever. Only Anet is nice enough to make it free for active players who bother to log in ONCE for ONE SECOND during those two weeks. Can’t bother with that? Don’t complain it ain’t free anymore.
“They’re getting bolder”
“Of course they are! We barely have enough Lionguard to patrol the city for one shift!”
All dialogue is terribly repetitive.
I’m more worried about there being another plot device that is used once, then never again.
Guys, please. You know how this game caters to the (mentally) lowest common denominator. They are never ever going to include something complex like languages, that might “confuse” those poor new players (who have no business in 80 zones, imo).
Que?

Why is everyone stuck in this endless debate about whether Mursaat are “good” or “bad”, while there’s a fracking OTHER PALE TREE right there in the image?
You are never ever going to agree on this Mursaat debate. Humans are miserable at debate, and few people ever change their minds, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Give up!
Guild Wars 2 HoT Release Date? [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Mental Paradox.3845
I will have forgotten about HoT in 9 months…
You should have kept it secret for longer.
I have 17 character slots already, but I could use 5 more.
New human character, starting from scratch, no tomes, no shortcuts.
It’s a new class, I want learning it to be fun, not rushed.
In GW1, “one-person guilds” could own a guild hall if they had the cash.
I don’t see why it would have to be different, but with ANet you can never know these days…
Why are the radical redesigns necessary? I liked the Mursaat as they were, they were an iconic species. I’m so tired of Anet ruining their own work. First they retcon Kryta from tropical to a generic fantasy land, then a dozen or so more retcons and unneeded redesigns, now this…? Come on…
Your picked races for your Revenant?

It is very unwise to mention your character name on the forums before creating it.
Someone more kittenbaggy than me might snatch it away right in front of you.
I’m still curious what’ll happen to Living Story now. I don’t think they’ll retire the idea.
Maybe they’ll be using it to introduce Xpacs now, like how S2 was essentially the “intro” of HoT.
For all we know, the Mursaat we fought in GW1 were just a group of outcasts.
They did it before… all the Charr in GW1 were supposedly flame legion. Simple lore mechanism for making a race more “open” to negotiations.
We might help the Mursaat fight the descendants of Lazarus the Dire. Who may have been an outcasted criminal in their culture.
It’ll be my 16th character. One of my six tier-2 mains, probably.
Of course, they did not mention a release date. Or a price.
Let us switch between Specializations!

What’s the point of “specialization” if there only one “choice”?
Should be at least 2.
HoT locations should get own music themes
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Mental Paradox.3845
Yeah, the GW1 music ruins the mood of the game imo. Music from Temple of Tolerance (Kryta theme) shouldn’t be playing in Ascalon.
I wish there was an option to enable/disable GW1 music.
What was *not* anounced for the new expansion

Mounts: well, we have flying now. Not sure that counts as a “mount”, but it sure augments the way you travel.
I’m not too happy with this. Doesn’t fit the lore at all, and it just looks like they’re trying to be Aion.
So we are going to ally with the murssat?
The who? Oh, the Mursaat. Yeah, possibly. I’m not yet 100% sure they are Mursaat, though. They don’t really look like them, other than the fact they float.
Months of these guys trying to destroy our hopes and dreams, gloating over the lack of evidence regarding an upcoming expansion.
I think I’ve earned this opportunity to gloat at your miserable defeat.
What’s the point of centaur taxi service? All my humans can outrun centaurs!
My baker’s girlfriend’s hairdresser used to work for Arenanet and he told me that “Heart of Thorns” is the codename for Guild Wars 4.
True story.
I’m pretty sure the largos work for bubbles
Yeah, after reading that wiki page they sound almost like a dragons minion. They “hunt” and remain underwater most of their lives. With little info on Bubbles and the Largos, I’m gonna take a stab in the dark and say they’re minions.
So that’s how Trahearne and Sayeh know each other! They met during a meeting of the DMA (Dragon Minion Anonymous).
And this has a place in GW lore… how?
