Tengu is not a playable race, and there is no evidence they will become playable any time soon.
I don’t believe for one second they planned this from the start. It was clearly fanservice because people whined to get their way, and now they’re making up excuses.
This isn’t really a lore topic, is it?
So, let me get this straight: until now, due to being protected by the Dream from Elder Dragon corruption, the Sylvari have been used by the Pact more or less as cannon fodder – being trusted that they can’t be corrupted i.e. not die and rise right away to hack back at their former allies.
Now that it has finally been confirmed that the Pale Tree is a former champion of Mordremoth everybody’s ooh-ing and aah-in. The Pale Tree is like Glint, a former Dragon Champion who went rogue. The Pale Tree has gone even further, and protects her children from Dragon influence through the Dream – making it so that Dreamer Sylvari are STILL protected from Mordremoth’s influence. Not only that, but the Pale Tree has fought and protected all Tyrian leaders from the attack in the Grove – almost with the expense of her own life. The Sylvari did not turn around and say "oh gee, I’ll kick you out of my group because you can be corrupted by Zhaitan/Primordius/Kralkatorrik etc. No, they’ve been nice and gracious and helped wherever it was needed.
Instead of thanking Sylvari for what they have been doing, and be grateful for the help, and doing all they can to restore the Pale Tree – and maybe even find HOW she does the whole Dream thing so maybe the other races can create something similar and thus be protected from the corruption of the other dragons – as I said, instead of doing that, we are witnessing a whole Meta RP-zerg turning on Sylvari.
We’re witnessing a serious meta-RP event. I wonder if the devs anticipated that or not. And are we going to have an “alliance/horde” type of factions soon? Because this is where it seems to lead, honestly.
On a lighter note. Seriously, how many of these people who rant and rave against Sylvari do NOT have a Sylvari character?
OP, gratefulness has nothing to do with it. Did you watch the cutscene at the end? The Sylvari that came anywhere near Mordremoth’s terrirory all turned on the others and wrecked the fleet. They attacked first.
I thought watching those cutscenes was 10 times more pleasant than actually playing the game. They were very well done, imo.
So yeah, I disagree :p
Expansion thread no. 1.897.147.
Though I agree with your points, the timing makes you look ungrateful towards Anet. They did announce HoT, after all. I just hope it’s an expansion this time, not more of this LS tripe.
New zones. The Maguuma Wastes could easily accommodate 4 Brisban-sized zones.
Mursaat/Seers. Or at the very least traces their civilizations ever existed.
The Charr will crush all of you weaklings beneath our iron-shod heels.
So how’s that Ebonhawke problem working out for you? Ever manage to break it?
Of course we did. You see Charr openly walking the streets of Ebonhawke now, don’t you?
And humans are allowed to live in the Black Citadel. Your point is…?
On topic: very good! The growing suspicion against Sylvari is quite convenient for growing my glorious empire. LA is weakened, one race kicked from the alliance, wünderbar!
It’s obvious.
Humans, Norn, Charr and Asura CAN be corrupted and turned into dragon minions.
Sylvari are fundamentally dragon minions from the start.
Please… not free!
I’d wager after some thought that it is a Margonite, the glow would make sense, Mursaat have distinct outstretched feathers with humanoid bodies, save for some golden armor.
kitten why would a MARGONITE be in the Maguuma? They are human followers of Abaddon turned into demons. They have NO PLACE at all in this story.
Why is it so hard to believe Wynne is dead?
She’s not even a very important character.
Dead, and will stay dead.
Was there not a scene right after that indicating they had somehow survived the crash? I’m pretty sure it showed them all on the ground with the wreckage, but maybe I’m remembering wrong.
They all survived the crash.
It is beginning to look a bit like the TV-show LOST.
New questions every episode, but rarely any clear answers.
I don’t think anyone’s kitten was hurt during this episode. The regulars on the lore forum are probably used to their theories being proven wrong occasionally, so why would they care about that this time? It’s just that they, or at least some of them, are disappointed in the direction Anet seems to be going with the lore. The often apparent continuity errors don’t help either, even if they are because stuff changed between original reveal and now.
That said, I’ll be sad to see you go, Konig. I enjoy reading your posts. They’re usually informative and very well put together.
No, nobody’s kitten was hurt, that must be why people are ragequitting the game forever.
Just record it with Fraps.
I record everything.
Kill all Sylvari on sight.
This is a dream come true. Thank you, Anet. sniff
Vinewhat?
Never seen the chap.
Oh, I am LOVING the kittenhurt caused by this revelation! Especially the uptight loremeisters who’s precious ego got hurt by being proven wrong =D
There will be no season three.
Praise be to Dwayna if you’re right.
If they need that many “breaks”, they should stop claiming updates are bi-weekly. They’re not.
And that’s okay, if they didn’t claim they were biweekly.
Judging from the trailer, we’ll get no Rytlock and nothing crystal desert related.
Except Turai Ossa, or at least I suspect it’s him.
“Point of no return” should be renamed “No point in returning”.
Tbh, I don’t see why human territorial expansion has to be land-based. We have airships now. Can’t we just find non-occupied land to colonize?
“habilididad”? What on Abaddon’s green Tyria is that?
I am sorry that you are allowed to go on Winter break to spend with your family while Anet is not allowed to…
If the break after the coming episode is long, then complain.
DO NOT complain over a Christmas break.
I don’t mean to be rude to Anet staff or anyone for that matter but your post is invalid. We all have jobs as well, I myself had to work for the so called “Christmas break”, and everyone I know also had no break really.
They are not volunteering at Anet, it’s their job, so yeah they should work like everyone else.
Also once again, I am not kittening here or anything. I somewhat enjoy the prolonged Wintersday cause I had enough time to farm the Wintersday Reward Track (finished 8 times so far)
Ditto, what is this “Christmas break” you speak of?
I for one had to work the entire month, including 24, 25, and the 31st.
This thread is terrifying. I’m called a fascist for always choosing the side of humanity, but this “treaty” can be proposed and everybody is totally cool with this.
“Bring New Ascalon and Ebonhawke into the fold”? How about NO? The charr don’t get to dictate whether Kryta and Ascalon can unite or not. I say we stick to the original treaty, and just wage war around Ascalon and seize unclaimed land. A cold war of sorts.
I think Jennah is indeed a weak ruler, and the charr are strong. Humanity needs to show its teeth if they don’t want to become the charr’s kitten.

Nothing, I worked HARD to get 50/50 and GWAMM; I was rewarded with the feeling of having “completed” GW1, and I’ll be kittened if I’m suddenly robbed of that feeling of completion.
It’s done. It’s over. Let it rest.
I agree that declaring some people “white knights” and using that to discredit their opinion is a fine example of the “shill gambit” (http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Shill_gambit), a logical fallacy.
Am I the only one finding the negative responses to this thread ironic and telling at the same time?
Yeah, I was thinking that while reading this thread. It’s almost like some of them feel threatened in some way.
People are defending their right to be kittens. Nothing to see here.
There’s a saying: “I do not agree with what you’re saying, but I will fight for your right to say it”. Tolerance is a cornerstone of freedom. People complaining and using tired old arguments may be exhausting, but it should be tolerated.
By outlawing criticism, Anet is one step closer to making these forums like communist Russia.
Don’t like the party? Get sent to Siberia (banned).
Eternity.
Every 12-year old has one as kitten extender.
I wasted 4000 hours of my life getting GWAMM and 50/50.
Don’t do it. I regret it every day.
Why does everyone keep droning on about the Crystal Desert? Yes, I’d love to go there, but we’re in the Maguuma Wastes, that’s an entirely different desert on the opposite side of the continent!
All my characters have names that make sense for their race.
Human:
Claire Bennett (ranger)
Evelyn Chastity (ele)
Pandora Ossa (necro)
Luna Nix (thief)
Cassandra La Fiera (warrior)
Asura:
Quorra Aetherwalker (engi)
Norn:
Lola Blackraven (mes)
Frauke Olafdottir (ranger)
Charr:
I forgot O.o was a warrior, though
Sylvari:
Forgot both of them >.<
something something Moonglow (guard)
and another one, a necro
To be honest, I don’t do dailies anymore.
I just don’t feel like doing what they want me to do, I guess I’m too used to being rewarded just for playing the game.
Questions like this really demonstrate the level of the Guild Wars lore post-GW2.
For science. You monster.
Hey, when I do this, they call me a fascist!
Oh, wait. I’m human. The Charr can play the race card and all is fine.
I like your analysis, Drax. As much as I would love to see Ascalon restored to former glory, perhaps we’re better off without the Charr as enemies.
Bump. I’m not giving up on this topic before I’m banned.
I hope the big announcement at PAX East is not about an expansion, but about fixing everything they broke last time instead.
Like the entire story!
The sloppy way in which this change was introduced is baffling.
They “removed” monthlies but it still says “dailies and montlies” in the cheevo panel, and there’s still a “monthly” bar in the character select screen. They didn’t even bother cleaning it up.
It’s reminiscent of how they butchered the Personal story, deleted an entire story arc, and then didn’t change the other missions so it would make sense.
Pfft. Ascalon is nothing!
What about the once “vibrant, proud and prosperous nation”? With marble streets, the City of Gods.I say we rebuild the true human Kingdom, before we start slaughtering those incapable defenseless kittens…
I agree completely. The queen could negotiate with the Pact for stewardship of Orr. It would make sense… it’s like the holy land of mankind after all. No war required for this, either. That’s certain to make some of you hippies happy! =D
Dinosaurs? Dinosaurs?
I really regret missing out on the first Guild Wars. I love dinosaurs. They’re like huge lizards that make funny squawky noises with tiny little arms and I just want to cuddle them and love them and put them in little bonnets… uhhh, should probably sleep soon.
GW1 still exists, you know.
It doesn’t even look that bad. Just do a quick campaign playthrough. It’s quite doable with henchmen/heroes.
Yeah, okay. Fair enough.
There is a lot ArenaNet does right, no doubt about it- and there is a lot they do wrong.
But yeah, the aspect of everyone being nice to each other is something they have a good watch over.
I agree. Whenever I lose control and lash out at someone, they’re pretty Johnny on the spot with removing my posts and infracting me. I could be mad about it, but actually – it’s a sign they’re doing a good job.
Surely the boss of Anet would not host a talk about an average LS episode.
I’m tentatively hopeful.
I hope, and pray to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, that the people who predicted Living Story season 2 was actually the introduction of a full-blown expansion focusing on Mordremoth were right.
Must…not… get … hyped…!

I got a new laptop, Windows 8.1 installed by default.
Superior hardware, yet it is slower in every single area. And unstable! Applications just feel like they could crash at any moment (and they often do).
No, really. If you get a new machine, wipe W8/W8.1 and install good old 7.
This is actually looking quite interesting. I’ll keep my eye on PAX South.
