Fun? I want to have seen every possible personal story combination.

Currently have 11 characters, I will eventually have 18.

There’s a guy that got a white weapon from a rare weapon loot bag.

And just now, some guy got a PRECURSOR from a blue/green weapon loot bag (he opened 147).

Something’s wrong with the loot in this patch…

Cuddy, he tried to destroy the world because the Gods, his “friends”, tortured him for 1000 years straight, for doing what he though was right.

Humans are driven insane by mere months of torture… try to image ONE THOUSAND years of torture. The Abaddon we fought was but a shadow of his former self. Also, he’s the God of knowledge. I think he had a pretty good idea of why giving the races powerful magic was a good idea.

He based his decisions on logic. The other gods on emotion (listening to Doric).

It’s pretty clear you have some kind of personal vendetta against this character.

Well, I DO want to see more Abaddon lore, especially a motivation for WHY magic meant so much to him.

I mean, it meant SO much to him that he was prepared to go to war over it. They don’t need to physically bring him back to give him a motivation.

It seems this is just your personal dislike of Abaddon, and I’m glad you’re a minority in this.

Nope. It’s a savannah, with the Elon river flowing through it. It’s currently occupied by minions of Palawa Joko, and presumably Kralkatorrik in the north.

Abbadon is gone. Permanantly.

The six left the world, but they are not dead.
Dhuum is bound, but he is not dead.

Abbadon is more than dead. He ceased to exist and was taken over by Kormir.

Like how characters from TV-shows are always permanently dead? The writers are the real gods, something isn’t dead until Guild Wars itself is dead.

Abaddon could return as a spirit, stripped of his divine abilities, back to how he was before he became a god. Maybe even cured of his madness, as an advisor to our heroes. Maybe his entire plan all along was to grant the races complete control over magic as to give them a chance against the dragons. Abbadon may be the only (ex) god NOT too scared to fight the dragons.

As I did in the thread in the Lore section, my post was to get people thinking a little deeper than just Abaddon, as in location, perhaps, meaning, etc. It’s quite possible, say 99% that it is Abaddon’s statue…in a forgotten temple in the middle of the Maguuma Jungle, hidden for centuries.

i think your on the right track

I personally think this is a temple to abaddon built by the mursaat ( you know that race that was particularly gifted with MAGIC, the thing abaddon released into the world)
so i think we are going to visit a city of mursaat
as well as that the temple surrounding the statue looks either maintained or at least untouched
so potentially its a temple built out of phase by the mursaat and we get to see this glorius city of the mursaat

or perhaps maybe a temple built to the god of magic where a bloodstone is kept/once was kept/once was used/once was found

The old races (dwarves, mursaat, seers, forgotten, and the fifth) were around BEFORE the gods came to Tyria. I’m not sure if they had command over magic back then, though.

is the expansion real??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mental Paradox.3845

IF there is ever a first expansion, I’d guess it would focus on the Maguuma Jungle and Mordremoth. I still have a hard time believing they can fit Mordy into the living world. Not in 4 episodes.

But don’t get your hopes up, Anet have said many times they do not like the idea of actually releasing a substantial amount of content. Apparently 350 devs can barely manage 2 hours worth of content per month, for four months, before being so tired they need a 2,5 month break.

i dont understand this mentality….it makes no sense. sooo basically expand on a single living story and thats it?? with minimal changes and additions to the game? soooo i paid for a mediocre interactive storytelling game….so basically a bad single player game….BUT with mmo content…great!!

That summarizes it pretty well. Only reason I still play is to complete everu single personal story mission. But now that they’ve also deleted an entire chapter from the PS… Yeah, they delete more than they add.

I really want to play it, as there was an entire arc I hadn’t played yet (the orb one). I don’t dare play any further until I know from Anet that

B. it’s not coming back.

Hey guys, remember Guild Wars? Like, the original?

Remember having several HUNDRED skills, and making your own builds without anyone holding your hand? Remember being treated like an adult?

Then GW2 came, and we all agreed to sacrifice this on the altar of “balance”.
Now, what little was left is also gone, on the altar of accessibility.

It’s time for us old-timers to realize that what we want, and what ArenaNet wants is no longer the same.

Mental Paradox.3845

I’ll have to agree with you, Andred. Most people are just complaining because they’ve already made up their mind that it’s going to be bad ever since reading about the changes in the blogposts.

Honestly, I’ve yet to try the new leveling system extensively, but from what I could tell from my guildmates leveling new characters, it’s not as horrible as people make it out to be. The only sensible suggestion from those raging is the option to go through the tutorial phase or not. Although it may be hard to implement as that would mean coding two different character types (one with more level-gated stuff and another that doesn’t).

I agree. OP complains that Guild Wars is too boring to “grind” 12 levels. If it’s so boring, why are you playing at all? But believe me, it’s not hard to gain levels – use an experience booster (Birthday booster is even better), food that gives experience, see if you can get a heroe’s banner buff and head to EoTM. You’ll be leveled up in no time. Did that with my thief, went from 55-80 in a few hours. Might be something different to try if you hate hearts…personally I found EoTM to be boring but at least it’s lucrative.

I should complain about the old TP then, I always had to click sellers price! New TP is not bad…maybe a little cumbersome, but not ruined that’s for sure. Something new to get used to.

It WAS fun – the first three characters. Now that I’m on my fourth 80, I’ve pretty much seen it all… it’s getting very dull doing the same areas and hearts over and over and over again. That’s what I mean. I have no choice, I want to have as many characters as it takes to do every possible story choice.

I might try EoTM again. Tried it once, sadly my server was losing big time, and there wasn’t much to gain there at that time.

Vayne will be here soon to help by explaining why his personal experience has shown him that these changes are well suited to new players and veteran players. Just wait.

Is there anybody else who honestly likes these changes? In every topic it is always Vayne irrationally defending the game. If you truly believe this game is flawless no matter what points people bring up, you can’t be reasoned with and thus your opinion hold no merit.

Our friend Elsdragon is of the same ilk, it would seem. Criticize one thing, and they all high and mighty on you. Päthetic.

Logged back on after a few weeks, and suddenly everything is ruined? What happened?

I am suddenly not allowed to play my personal story anymore, and have to grind 12 levels to continue. I have 3 level 80’s, and Guild Wars 2 is just too boring to grind 12 levels. “Do events” they say. Oh how much effin’ fun to do events for a week straight just so I can continue playing the game!

Suddenly the TP is ruined. It used to be SO easy to use! Suddenly the bloody thing wants me to post stuff on TP as a seller, instead of the easy “instant selling” thing the original had.

Really, I just logged on today, had a look around and thought “well, that’s it. Not playing that anymore”.

What a shame! Why???

Character Development you hope to see

in Living World

Posted by: Mental Paradox.3845

Mental Paradox.3845

I want to see the “development” of the whole biconic crew being slowly torn limb from limb by a dragon champion. Then Trahearne “accidentally” falls down the Pale Tree and dies, and the Pale tree itself dies of sadness.

Suddenly, all of Tyria looks up to US as the Heroes that will save the world, not lettuce-head, or that little band of clowns that are the biconics.

Also, Abaddon comes back, gives Kormir a big kick in her ladyparts, and reclaims his position as God of knowledge. Now fully redeemed, it turns out Abaddon tried to remove the Five from power because he knew about the Elder Dragons, and he was the only one who wanted to fight them (that’s why he gave the races the power to manipulate magic). He blesses the player character, and now armed with the power of a demigod, our Heroes face off with the Dragons themselves!

But no, we’ll probably get some childish characters bickering and acting stupid, and Trahearne solo’ing Mordemoth while all we do is watch.

What do people want from an expansion?

in Living World

Mental Paradox.3845

ZONES!

As an explorer at heart, it kills me to see all those unexplorable zones in Tyria. A new continent isn’t even necessary (though it would be cool). The Deldrimor areas, Maguuma Wastes, Isles of Janthir, Blood Legion Homelands, the Desert… So much potential for exploration!

I honestly do not care about new classes or skills, or even dungeons.

And more connections to GW1 lore. How should I put it… a bigger focus on lore on larger timescales… As in, less low quality soap/sitcom stuff (biconics…) and more serious stuff, involving the 5 ancient races. And the human Gods.
