I would never join the Shining Blade, not even as a human. Their ritualistic BS is too cult-like to my liking, not to mention I strongly dislike their objectives. They’re not about protecting Kryta, they’re about protecting Jennah’s bloodline. I see monarchy as tyranny, so yeah… I would rather not be allied with the current Krytan government at all, unless it puts me in a more opportune position to destroy them and usurp power (but in a more clever way than Caudecus and his ilk).

Half of my characters secretly worship Abaddon, and that’s because he’s cool as hell. And because he’s a Lucifer-figure, which I love in real life too.

Yeah. For someone with no knowledge of GW1, this “reveal” had no impact on me. Something shows up called Lazarus and then there’s mention of a dragon called Primordius or something (I assumed a dragon). The Lazarus bit was confusing. Here I am preparing for an epic battle and…it’s gone. Some talk about Mursaats went over my head as well.

As a GW1 vet, this ignorance almost makes me want to cry. I wish I could share with you what I know, but the only way to truly understand is by playing it – which we both know won’t happen.

I have been flamed half to death over this in the past, but I’ll say this: I love Abaddon. He’s basically Prometheus before the Christians corrupted the myth and turned him into Lucifer. My guild is the “Abaddon’s Chosen”, and I respect the fallen God for what he WAS, not what he became.

I felt the same way. I remember all of Hablion’s lines from GW1 by heart. It was Steve Blum’s voice that made him sound bad*ss. Now he sounds a little… wimpy?

That was in January. 4 months ago. I wonder how much of that information is still accurate.

Frankly, I consider myself to be an explorer – I want to see what the previously never before seen areas on the map look like. Give me anything set on the Isles of Janthir or perhaps even right outside the main map (like Eye of the North in GW1) and I’ll be happy!

I’ve played Guild Wars 2 a lot in the past; but quit after finishing HoT a few times in early November last year. I see a lot of posts on this forum about LS3 and a possible second expansion, but quite frankly, I don’t see the evidence that such things will ever happen at all.

Why this radio silence on story content, anyway? I thought it was either regular LS, or a long wait for an expansion – but Arenanet at least announced HoT. Did I miss an announcement or something? Or are they just done with GW2? I don’t blame them if they are. Guild Wars 1’s good years lasted from 2005 to 2009ish too, GW2 is about the same age at this point.

Anet, I worked over 4000 hours in the original GW for both the GWAMM title and ALL MY OTHER TITLES I got in GW1. And all the heritage skins. I had 50/50 in my HoM.

Now some email I got says I didn’t deserve them.

He is talking about relative value.

For example: my character spends 1g on a weapon. For her (at the moment), this is 1/15th of her total net worth. She can, by Tyrian standards, be considered “middle class”. So how “valuable” is 1g to Earth standards? Well, I dunno about you, but 1/15th of my net value is several thousand bucks (I’m middle class too, kinda). So buying a 1g bow in Tyria would be like buying a brand new assault rifle in real life (they can cost up to $4000, easily).

Buying a legendary would be like buying the ancient sword of a real life Japanese Emperor, which will cost you a few million $ at least.

Orr will be cleansed. Lore-wise. The expansion won’t take place in Orr though, so we’ll never get to see it.

Keep in mind that in Guild Wars, time is locked to place and vice versa. Orr only exists in 1325. Its state in 1328 may well have changed, but only through characters mentioning it.

We’ve already seen the darker side of the Pale Tree. Caithe is one cold-hearted… uh… plant. Seriously, if the story didn’t require me to be the goody two shoes, I would have killed her in chapter 2 already.

I don’t hate Trahearne anymore. I got over it. He’s just a cool plant dude doing his job.

I would like an option in the options menu where you can simply disable the NPE altogether. I have 18 characters, do I really have to treated like a “new player” just because I made character no. 19?

In open world, my screen goes black, but I can still see my cursor and hear ambient sound. I am forced to alt+F4 to get out.

This has never happened before and started with the latest update.

Abaddon was not a dragon champion. That’s blasphemy. Show some respect for your lord and master.

He gave his sanity, and later his life, to protect Tyria from the dragons.

I’m still convinced there must have been a reason why Abaddon wanted magic to remain wild and free. I think he knew about the dragons. Remember the text on the ceiling above his statue? “Beware of ….”. He knew, and somehow he was convinced magic could not be allowed to be concentrated into the bloodstones (maybe because they would it too easy for the dragons to consume?). The other gods on the other hand didn’t believe him, and he was forced to wage war on his own kin.

What else could convince the God of knowledge, the wisest of them all, to wage a war he was sure to lose (1 vs 5)? Surely he knew he wouldn’t stand a chance.

Nightfall and his acts of evil in GW1 were just… madness. You spend a thousand years in Hell, and tell me you’ll still be able to think straight. You’ll be consumed by fantasies of vengeance before the first century is over… And Abaddon manifested his dark dreams in reality, that was a part of his power, his “aspect”.

And yes, I roleplay a follower of Abaddon ingame :-)

Considering LS is now dead, you’d have to be pretty daft to call it a “success”.

They’re getting desperate because LS is dead and the expansion is still many months away – meaning no new content for about half a year. They had to do crap events like this to keep us distracted.

Condition-based builds aren’t viable. Have fun never getting a group.

When I logged on after a one-year hiatus, I saw LA basically nuked. Nothing explained why, I had to piece it together from strange conversations with people I’d never met who claimed to be my best buddy ever.

Also, i’m pretty sure we’re getting a whole new zone. You know what a zone is? Ascalon is a zone, Kryta is a zone. How many maps do these zones cover? Ascalon covers 6 full-size maps and include a capital city. Even if it has just 2 maps, each map will have 3 layers so that makes it 6 zones. Look at the map, do you really see just 1 map there?

I’m guessing that we get 2 big maps, each with 3 layers making it the same as 6 maps. 6 maps for an expansion is just right.

I LOVE this addition to the game! I’m still working on the T6 mats for my first legendary, but I’m getting desperate as I’ve played for 1500 hours without a precursor in sight (and I hear some people played 4 times longer, also with no precursors!).

If you’re the kind of player for whom vanilla GW2 was so confusing that you needed the NPE, believe me when I say GW1 will melt your mind.

Yes, I agree. Many of my characters are spellcasters relying on condition damage. I’d like to be competitive while playing how I want.
