Gone make a meme thread about traps too on your forum? Seriously asking, because last one was sooo good :p.

I set a deadline for myself to when I wanted to see an AC fix, I went for 13th of this month. They announced the patch to be the 14th so yea, sure I can wait 1 extra day. They added traps and I could still defend bay while watching a movie and clicking ‘1’ on the arrowcard. Hills is even worse and I don’t think I have flipt garrison since the AC buff. Game is ruined for my playstyle, another game budged for the ‘unskilled’ ones. The casual WvW players got what they want. I will keep the game in the hope they add GvG arenas or something with openfield combat. Till then I will barely play. Have fun all, Anet ain’t thinking the same as me about what WvW should be and I am going to spare myself the dissapointment that will follow in the upcoming patches.

I already installed a new game, I played GW2 for the WvW.

WvW is non existant at the moment, traps are rediculous. Good job in ruining a really fun game mod. Waiting for the private servers to come that host the good old WvW.

So, I took the effort to buy a full sentinel set. I was really curious to how much health I could get. First we wanted to reach 35k+, but when I passed that, I wanted to go for the 38k health mark. And I did it!

Did you remember to factor out the WvW HP bonus? Or was it early enough to not include it?

You should show your total health from the hero screen instead of the gameplay UI because it doesn’t factor in the WvW HP bonus on the hero screen.

Why would I do that? Ain’t that health used in WvW? You can’t brake it without those.

Because it doesn’t represent the true health that the build has. It’s in the same vein as the food buffs, although people tend to incorporate food and tool consumables into a build.

Think of it this way… perhaps I claim that I am exactly six feet tall and can prove it by standing next to a measurement chart. However, at the time I do this I am wearing shoes, which naturally add a small bit of height due to the soles. In actual fact, I am slightly under six feet tall, and only wearing my shoes allows me to reach that height on the measuring chart.

Similarly the “38k health warrior” build does not actually have this amount of health in an of itself. It has less, boosted with consumables and WvW bonuses.

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I think there’s an important distinction between the health the build naturally has (with gear and traits, of course) and the amount it has when being boosted by consumables or world bonuses, which are temporary. Some of these external boosts (i.e. WvW bonuses) are also largely beyond an individual’s ability to control, so it doesn’t make for a fair comparison or benchmark.

I get the point is to just see how high you can get your health, but I think a non-boosted number has more genuine meaning as far as min-maxing goes.

You do play sports with your shoes on don’t you?

Nice stream, he gave a lot of nice tips. Ofcourse this wasn’t for you hardcore WvWers out there. You should know all of this already.

He did clicked his skills, which bothered me a bit, but apparantly he wasn’t playing on his regular keyboards, so I can forgive him.

But the one thing I really liked is that he played a condition warrior build. These are actually pretty powerful in WvW. His build wasn’t fully optimized thou. He could have gotten a lot more survivability without giving away to much damage with some tweaks. But still, thanks for showing this build to people.

And about thiefs, you got troll thiefs build for maximum survivability. You can’t kill these without putting way to much effort in it. Lucky they don’t deal a lot of damage either. So he was right about just ignoring them.

Commander says - it's hard to tell

These ain’t the only fixes they have to introduce to the commander icon. That icon is just a blue taco atm, nothing more. The squad is an absolute joke and you have 0 commander options. If you try to command by typing you get muted for spamming. So yea, almost looks like Anet gets sponsored by teamspeak.

And I don’t want to sound cynical, it is great that we gte new stuff in WvW. But it ain’t what we ask for. So please, focus on the things we want instead of adding all these new things that could damage the fragil balance of WvW.

Builds I got so far:
-knight build with berserker (for pve)
-pvt build (serious one for GvG and raids)
-condition build (really fun, such a troll)
-full power build, reached 4k+ power (kinda less funny with the retal nerf )
-full sentinel build with 38k health

I actually rolled a thief and they are redicilously easy class to play compared to my warrior. But got to agree, most thieves are pretty useless in group fights. They are mostly build for solo fights.

I hate perma stealth thou, and they can teleport so far. So I hate to fight them. So I just made my warrior tanky so a thief hates to fight me. If they are persistent, I wait till they use daggerstorm, than it is really easy to kill them. But those are the nuby thiefs unfortunatly, I can’t kill the good ones, I just ignore them.

As far as I know, this bug only occurs when you jump and try to man the AC. Or that is how I got it to trigger multiple times atleast.

If you trait mace and play clever, use the block skill. If he blocks and smack you can see numbers up to 8k on a single skill.

Most of the mace skills are instant, the 2s stun is just getting close and you got him. The daze is great to interrupt enemies, again you have to use it on the right times.

No, mace offhand is actually really strong in 1on1 fights, but you need a really good understanding of the game and it has a high skillcap. In other words it is a really hard weapon to use effectively. And it sucks in 2vs1, only reason why I don’t run it more.

I disabled auto-target and if you are like really quick, you sometimes still jump backwards to a previous selected enemy. Even if you quickly select an enemy infront of you and press leap you sometimes go to the previous one.

So yea it needs a bug fix, think I reported it 10+ times already.

Thruth is hammer is super strong in WvW.

Some weapons are good in PvE, some in PvP and some in WvW. None are good everywhere. So if you don’t like the hammer in PvE, than simply don’t use it.

Buffing hammer would make it to strong in WvW.

Only 1-2 came to RoS, we asked and they aren’t going to transfer to us. So don’t worry. Don’t think we are getting any new guilds in the near future (atleast I hope so).

WE TOOK T3 HILLS FULLY SIEGED AND DEFENDED BY THE ENTIRE SERVER!

It only took our entire server, 5 trebs alone to get into inner, few douzen arrowcards, few catapults and we had to wipe the enemy zerg 8+ times.

It took us 1.5 hours. Yes we feel proud. We did the impossible!

I noticed a big decrease in WvW players. Now only in prime you can get decent kills. It is a bit empty now outside of it.

And @Jackie you are 100% right and this is the reason I am mad about the ACs.

WvW is broken atm, you will be seeing this a lot more. Many guilds are thinking of not playing for points anymore, just plain and simple open ground battles against other guilds (no ACs allowed).

Which is in my opinion great.

How is this not hotfixed already?

Just throwing it out there, most of what the complaints are in this thread (particularly from VoTF) are not being “hotfixed”. The devs have in a nice and well worded way stated L2P. They are fixing the damage to siege from AC, which I agree with. The damage to siege probaby isn’t a huge priority either so I doubt they would bring out a hotfix specifically for this. They might but Id expect them to just do it during a maintenance/patch.

I think I can speak for the entire VcY by saying we support what VoTF says, the ACs damage got to be reverted. And we ain’t the only guild/person saying it. I just have to look in /m chat to see nobody is liking the change.

so basically a fifth WvW map with no objectives (and therefore no reason to go there unless you just want to fight for the fun of it)? this doesn’t sound technically difficult.

lol, you could put the entry portals to this new map behind the windmills on each of the three borderlands maps (so as to avoid cluttering up the spawn point with portals that most players won’t care about).

Give ACs real arrows, like only 10 skill activations possible and than you have to put in another 20 supply.

Like this you could still atleast take something with clever play.

ps.: I would rather see the 80% dmg boost reduced to 10% (+% from mastery), but if you don’t want to do this than implement a limitted use ASAP.

I am not denying it, ACs took the fun out of the game and I am looking for other games now.

I agree with how fast they gona patch this up tells a lot about the future of this game. If next patch means end of this month, then I am long gone.

My warrior could run through a zerg and come out practicly unharmed to turn around and run in again. If I run through the fire of 5 superior ACs and I got the guts to turn around, I die.

I prefer a 100 man blob above a tower with 5 superior ACs anyday. That blob is easier to take down. Shame nobody leaves his tower anymore, like ever.

You started it by stating it ain’t possible. Give a lumberjack an axe and he eventually chew through your gate. Bringing logic to a game is stupid, that is why bashing in a gate with 100 people should be possible.

And I do think this thread is coming from a minority of the community. From weak servers that are getting dominated it seems.

The majority of the hardcore players in WvW want plain simple PvP, not SiegevSiege.

I liked zerg vs zerg, because a zerg was atleast easy to take down.

Let’s go back in time. Let us assume those medieval stories are all through about castles and knights. And I am talking about the romantizised ones.

Now, let us look at what many of you claim as what should be possible. Defending a tower with 10 players against a blob. Let us assume it is a big server and the blob counts 100 players.

Let us transfer these numbers to a medieval setting. We take a guard tower from a castle, we fill it with 10 people and give them weapons to defend (all the regular ones). Now we sent 100 knights with siege weapons. Do you think these 10 people should be able to fend off 100 knights in shinny armor? No, they should get slaughtered. Better luck next time getting more defenders our army says.

You see, a tower gives a 3/1 advantage. Meaning that you need 3 times the amount of people to take it. A keep/ castle takes 4-5/1. It makes no sens that you can defend against a blob unless you have a significant number of players yourself.

So don’t say the AC dmg buff was needed, it wasn’t. A zerg counter = 1/3 of the numbers of that zerg. It was even the case before the AC buff, 30 guildies could defeat a 100+ blob that was attacking their tower. All the numbers were fine.

Now this game became more cat-mouse than ever. You move from tower to tower in the hope to find an empty one. Build 4 superior rams and hope you get the gate down before 4-5 people get in. As soon some get in you leave and move to the next objective because it ain’t worth it to spend 3 hours+ to take that tower.

And I haven’t even said a word about how boring siege wars is, a lot more fun to bash a gate in with damage raining from all sides on you, you outheal it and be ready for the enemy to storm outside to fight you. And the epic battle that follows infront of the gate.

This is what we want and please develop your game in that direction or you will lose a mass of hardcore and skilled players.

If this idea gets implemented you will lose all the top guilds. They will move to a game that has PvP, they wouldn’t care how crappy their graphics are, as long as it has decent PvP.

Looks like Anet decided that PvP doesn’t belong in WvW, character skill should be used on mobs not players. WvW should be siege only they say. This is plain boring and requires no skill. It will become like chess with good graphics. And I don’t like to play chess, I like something that requires fast thinking, reflexes and good hand-eye coordination.

ps.: a game needs to be fast passed, if it takes 4 hours to take hills or bay, than I say goodbye I am gone to play a fun game. And countering a zerg really ain’t that hard, a server big blob will lose against 25 guildies in a tower. This is just a l2 kitten ue, just as you think we, that don’t like the AC, have a l2 kitten ue too.

Why fix something that ain’t broken? Why mess with siege numbers while they were fine (little damage boost to trebs wouldn’t have been that bad). Why you want to change our tactics that were working and force us into a completely different gamestyle.

We don’t want to build a quazillion ballistas and catapults to take down a few ACs that get rebuild in seconds.

I am serious, if you don’t revert the AC damage you will lose all the top guilds and serious players. You have no idea how lucky you are that there ain’t an alternative to this game. We have been discussing other games in my guild and I am sure other guilds have too.

Don’t change WvW in nubwars, to many games died because develeports favoured the new or bad players.

1. It’s only 15g to transfer, that really ain’t much
2. I do believe they should fine tune the ele a bit, the nerf was hard. I don’t play ele so don’t know more about this subject. (they did need a nerf thou)
3. Confusion nerf should have been -33% too. I agree here. Confusion was OP but not -50% OP.
4. Reason why I only play 10% of my normal time. And I bought 100s of ACs and dropping them down everywhere because they are so so so so so OP. I have done some 3k+ hits, I mean COME ON….
5. Always been like this, I love the timer (1 of the best things this patch). They can’t make it to last forever and I agree with Anet on this one.
6. I can live with this tbh, haven’t bothered me to much and does support more tactic in the game.
7. Don’t play thief, just heard they wanted to nerf their burst a bit and can agree with that.
8. The system is not the best no, but look at other games. Getting a good rating system is almost impossible. A win tier, move up a tier ain’t optimal either.

OP is the ‘1’ presser in a zerg and couldn’t stand a group of 18-25 players rolled their 80 man zerg?

As mentioned before a group of 30 could hold a keep against 100 people even before the patch.

Give me command of 100 PUGs with map chat against your 30 best WvW players on voice chat, and I will run those 100 PUGs down your collective gullets, buffed ACs or not. You won’t even know what hit you.

100 bags, nice. We are up for it too. A good guild shouldn’t have to much problem with that.

Honestly, I can imagine the pug zergs and people who run in these zergs having a huge issue with this. In most tiers, trying to coordinate a pug zerg is like trying to teach a blind man to read.

For those of us who run with our guilds, coordinate, and are much more tactical. This is a very much welcomed addition. Long time coming honestly. Now, it FORCES people to think and listen.

This is the exact opposite.

You are facing baddies, that’s the point.

In a correcly fortified keep, I defend with my 10 peeps against your coordinate guild for hours. Hours.
And you can be 40-60 we don’t care. If we play correctly you just have no way to take the keep, ever.

This, defending became so easy that I do it while eating, watching a movie or chattin with some friends. If everything is sieged up, it is 100% impossible to take a tower/keep.

I have siege bunker maxed, 3.3k armor 30k health, had protection from a guardian and tons of boons to keep me standing and I got melted in 3-4 seconds because of AC fire.

Everything defended by something with a brain is a pain to capture. Takes ages and is boring like hell. Even with a guild group. There is no reason anymore to come out and fight. WvW became something that is starting ressemble something a lot like PvE and I detest PvE….

Gain some lose some, the runes aren’t that good compared to others. You lose again with the food.

It can be done but comes at a price. I wont be running it because I don’t find it worth it. The trait is really nice thou and should stay the way it is.

Stop hiding behind your OP arrow cart and COME AT ME BRO.

Indeed, leave the defensive position you hold, and mindlessly charge into the group that outnumbers you 4:1, 5:1, or in some terrible cases, 10:1. This is why I believe you people just need to learn to play.

You do know there are multiple locations on which you can build an arrowcard now that can’t be destroyed by trebs. Just because ACs now have a stupid long range.

I don’t want to endlessly watch a treb (as this is practicly the only viable siege left) and drain there supplies in a 4 hours+ siege. Can even go up to 8 hours+. There is 0 fun involved in this gameplay. Fun = hard against hard player action. I WANT to use my weapon skills against other players.

I want to fight other guilds with my guild to see who has the superior tactics and players. This is why 80%+ of the WvW players play day in day out. Not to man a treb 24/7 and eating a sandwich while the sun goes down.

I put points into Arrow Cart Mastery to test the extended range. In the towers in which I tested this, arrow carts do NOT outrange catapults. This includes arrow carts built at a height advantage relative to the catapult. For example, at Longview / Sunnyhill / Woodhaven tower, an arrow cart built on the roof near the vista is still unable to reach catapults built on the bluff to the north of the tower. Meanwhile, those same catapults can hit the North wall.

The new arrow carts and their associated mastery line are not OP; you just have to be cognizant of your siege ranges and placement is all. Practice, practice, practice.

Regular arrowcarts now do ~ 700-1000 dps, superior arrowcarts ~2100 as damage has been increased to up to +80% – with the range but they can hit almost as far as catas but not as far.. Put 10 sups in the tower and a 60 man zerg, and good luck trying to take that objective.

Simple math, I have seen an arrowcard deal 3k damage (superior one).
But let’s be reasonable and take 2k damage as base.
Also let’s take 4 superior arrowcards per gate.
Take into consideration they deal damage up to 50 people.

So, 2k*4*50=400k damage per second or 100k damage per second per arrowcard.

Don’t think I have ever encountered something this overpowered in my entire gaming history.

With AC mastery = 3500 range
Catapult = 4000 range

You just need to build it near max range for it work. Basically requires smarter cata placement now.

3500 range to the center of the AC fire, you got to add the radius of the circle which is really big too.

This means that catapults are useless.
