It would be nice to at least has confirmation this will be fixed in the next patch….
Great find
Er…. um…. ask Jeff Grubb or Ree Soesbee.
Another neat feature is that Windowed Fullscreen is now supported
Thanks a heap Bill
I’m rather sick of the slow alt/tab in native mode (my precious milliseconds!), and running windowed will fix that up.
WvW players don’t demand that PVE map completion be made easier, even though it’s just as time consuming as WvW map completion is. So why should PVE players be allowed to EZ-mode WvW completion instead of earning it?
Also, most importantly, the maps are balanced based on rankings, thus swapping colors would ruin matchups. This change will damage WvW solely to make life easier for lazy PVE’ers, and that ain’t cool…
(edited by Mif.3471)
that ain’t 1% at least
It ain’t “to the ground” either….
The engineer has been nerfed into the ground plenty enough times
Which is downright insulting considering their policy of “small nerfs to tune balance”, which has allowed multiple classes to be near god mode since launch.
Typical Patch Notes:
Mesmer: -2% damage on a skill they use occasionally.
Thief: -1% damage on a skill they use occasionally.
Engineer: Powerful trait now useless. Main attack – 30% damage.
Weren’t engineers left out in earlier events as well, as far as getting all 3 skins they can use?
IF you guys do this because of limited resources, than at least rotate the professions that get it all.
Agreed.
It’s funny how there it always a sword AND a greatsword, but never a rifle….
I’m not sure if anyone found this
I did!
Great news!
Thanks Bill
Thank you Habib for your months of hard work, and congratulations on achieving your long term goals within WvW. I hope you find as much success on your next project.
It’s good to see that ArenaNet has changed WvW lead from a programmer to a content designer, as it shows they’re finally comfortable with performance and are now ready to expand and refine the game mode. I look forward to seeing what Devon came come up with

I for one welcome our new balista mastery overlords.
325hp is the heal on crit food at level 80.
Moto is male with a female name.
The drop rate is INSANELY low.
I find it quite vexing that these could be added to the store with very little work, yet they don’t bother.
Y U NO want my money?
(and when I say my money I mean my credit card, ie actual money not my gold)
It seems that the class designers have no idea what they want the Engineer to be.
Then every time we find something we can be, they don’t like it, so they get rid of it.
Which leaves the Engineer with nothing to be yet again.
Is it still there or not? The #5 rifle hover!
It’s not gone, but it seems faster, so you’re not rooted as long.
Whether that’s a placebo or not is another thing…
Place superior arrowcart behind door, and fire away.
Meanwhile large zergs just stand in it and spam area heals.
@Mif.3471
Check your own traits before posting please (that’s Speedy Kits effect)
It was sarcasm….
The effect I get from kit refinement post patch is I now get swiftness every time I change kits with a 5 sec CD.
I hate to rain on folks parade here but these patch notes are pretty terrible. I see no mention of increased turret survivability or better turret targetting, which are the main issues with turrets. The damage is so laughably bad in any even that the 50% increase on many of the turrets will not be noticed. Kit refinement has been reduced to a series of interesting abilities but the 20 second cooldown makes it almost impossible to plan their usage if you are switching kits, 1000nades is effectivley dead. Elixir U is still unusable due to the randomness and is outclassed by supply drop in almost every way (except underwater I suppose). Everything else is a minor bug fix. The ONLY really great change I see is the removal of LOS on grenade kits which will make them much more useful in WvW siege situations. But other than that this patch really doesn’t change anything useful and is again far more nerf than buff.
Agreed.
Everything is either a bug fix, or a buff that isn’t big enough to stuff no one cares about.
The thing i wounder about is will the 20sec Global CD make it so you cant use medkit to allways sprint?
It’s on kit refinement procs, not on kit changes.
If this isn’t fixed in the patch today, we march our golems on ArenaNet HQ >.>
“Grenade Kit: Equipping this kit drops a mine at the player’s location that deals damage and removes a boon”
So my 1500 range kit drops a bomb at my feet?
Well that’s “useful”…. /facepalmNot tooo much less useful than a grenade barrage that only hits @ 0 range when you’re at 1500. Heh. At least the mine sticks around.
The grenade barrage did a huge amount of damage. One mine won’t.
It simply isn’t worth the effort.Effort. It’s probably going to be better as passive, not active ability, really. It seems to be just like free damage, that doesn’t require you to position yourself or anything. If it hits as hard as the throw mine ability, it’s possible to get like 3.6k crits in an offensive HGH grenade/explosion power build. But everything remains to be seen, it might be too early for a snap judgement.
The goal of this patch was to bring really good kit refinements (nade, EG) down, and bad ones up. (Bomb, med-kit, etc.)
I just wish they would be more creative, because one single mine is useless, will not effect the playstyle and will be ignored.
I would of much rather something like “your next grenade attack is 1700 range” for Grenade kit’s refinement.
Sad to see almost everyone considers Engineers to be useless
…and Jon Peters thinks the solution is buffing turrets /facepalm
Engineer: Asura. They’re much cuter with their backpacks than humans.
That’s a good point. Kits on humans look painfully large, but not so bad on Asura.

Yeah, I’m actually surprised by how many changes we got in comparison to the other classes.
Half of them are bug fixes worded to sound like buffs.
“Kit Refinement trait: All kit skills are now on a static global recharge (20 seconds)”
A good Engineer should be changing kits very often. A trait that makes you want to wait to change kits is just plain dumb.
Colin Johanson has mentioned his Engineer multiple times.
I honestly think he plays that just to see what’s going on with the class or a second to his main, a warrior.
Nah, he seems to genuinely enjoy Engineer’n:

Colin Johanson has mentioned his Engineer multiple times.
If vultures were part of my daily achievement I’d be done already!
I remember them saying when they go tours they play with a team of 5 Engineers many times
This is the problem. Five engineers is OP. They need to try to solo roam in WvWvW or in a mixed group as the single engineer.
It would also explain why they believe Engineers to be so versatile. It’s easy for an Engineer to fulfill all roles in a fight when there are 5 of them; But solo on the fly, they’re just as pigeon holed as other classes.
My suggestion would be to make both of them Asura.
Agreed.
However if common sense doesn’t prevail, it’s worth noting that if you plan on making female characters, Asura females use male armor models. Thus your Mesmer won’t be able to dress whorishly like all Mesmers do, unless you make the Mesmer your human.
The best thing about culling being fixed is now ArenaNet might finally see WvW as more than just a technical challenge and address the design/gameplay issues.
Living World is really a broader concept, it’s the idea that Guild Wars 2 is (and will become more so) a truly living game, where the world can change and constantly evolve going forward.
Onward to Asuran world domination!
If you get a set of headphones and listen closely, you can hear the empty cartridge land on the ground after you shoot. In fact, the sound is different depending whether you’re standing on rock, wood or dirt.
The college of Dynamics pushes Asura technology forward; they’re the driving force behind Asuran advancement, and thus the most important to Asuran brilliance.
I suspect it’s already up :P

Seizure camera make me sad.
Stupid BookahNet :’(
Run into a zerg solo
Do it all the time :P
“It is better to die than to be a coward” – Gurkha motto
Its a cool weapon but I think it only fits if you are an asura, doesn’t seem right on a charr.
This is true. One of the reasons I’m so fond of it is it’s Asuran design.
It helps to counter balance the human and charr aesthetic influence the engineer has.
Super Hyperbeam Alpha – that’s real nice on an Asura.
Where do you get it? Is it craftable?
Mystic forge or Trading Post.
On my female Asura the sound for /laugh plays multiple times at once.
The animation is fine.
This is still broken.
They should add extra Orichalcum nodes and Ancient Saplings to WvW which require a special Mists gathering kit.
Then make a new WvW daily:
- Claim a tower
- Claim a camp
- Kill 50 invaders
Reward: Mists gathering kit, lasts 12 hours.
This would give WvW focused players a way to gather high level materials, in line with PvE players, without the map being flooded by people only there to farm.
