Anyway, back on topic…

Last week, while outmanned on EB, one of our towers was attacked by huge 70+ player Asian zerg guild (and militia).

Using our prepared catas and trebs at the keep, as well as it’s mortars, we eventually managed to bring down their array of rams and catapults.

With the door at 25%, their siege gone, and build sites taken out easily, we thought we had won.

Then they literally PvDoor’d the last 25% of the gates health, and took the tower.

So while things have changed since then with the arrow cart buff, I still think no player damage to doors is an important change that should happen to prevent circumstances where numbers result in victory, even when being tactically outplayed.

But if they want the pvp community to stay, theyre going to have to give us somewhere else to do our larger battles. 10v10 or 5v5 in spvp is not what we are here for.

As much as it terrifies me to say, I actually agree with you.

I think the base of this AC issue, that no one has really bothered to talk about at any depth, is there seems to be a disconnect in the WvW playerbase as to what they want.

Personally, when I think WvW, I think fighting with siege and fist, and hour long fights over towers.

Others clearly view PvP as the base of WvW, that siege shouldn’t have any power in determining battles, and that towers should be a reward for PvP battles won.

The challenge will be if ArenaNet can cater to both players types inside the WvW framework, or if they will need to give the later mentioned types a different outlet for their playstyle.

But removing being able to heal under Elixir S is way too harsh a nerf (especially considering Elementalists can still heal in Mist Form).

Not entirely true. The camera still hits the wall preventing you from seeing over it if you’re on ground level. You need to be almost level to the walls height to shoot over, which takes away a lot of the advantage.

The real advantage is being able to peak around corners and get the circle down.

I despise the siege timers now effecting EB, it makes the boring, tedious and rewardless job of being a scout/yak runner/upgrader even more tedious.

Use your F1-F4 skills while downed?

I’d be happy just to have a reason to use my 1-5 skills.
The only key I use when my Engineer goes down is M.

Never played against a engineer bunker build that was comparable to guardian/ranger/ele bunker. Not even close.

Speaking of “not really fair”, Elementalists can still heal for 4k through traits while in Mist Form, yet Engineers under Elixir S now get zero, when they previously got 3k (for med kit users).

I can’t even articulate how devastating this nerf is to “tough” build Engineers.

Coming into to this patch, it was actually the first time I felt my Engineer was in a good place (FYI: I don’t use or want to use HGH because I think it’s an idiotic crutch of a trait), but post-patch, I feel more useless than I have ever been.

I can no longer push zerg lines to deny area in WvW. I can no longer hit and run to harass groups. Everything that I found enjoyable about my Engineer is gone, and all I’m left with is “stand at the back and spam Grenade skill 1”.

I’ve remained committed to my Engineer despite nerf after nerf. Hell, my motto when they nerfed grenades 30% was “then I’ll just play 30% better”. But after this patch, I can’t see a point investing any more time in an Engineer.

So people understand where I’m coming from: My build. Not full bunker, not full attacker, not cookie cutter, but definitely a ton of fun, and now ruined.

The real problem is that player available supply and upgrade supply are one and the same. There needs to be separate “piles”, where players cannot take supply marked for upgrading towers/keeps.

Furthermore, the current one “pile” of supply actually goes against the fundamental GW2 design principal of anti-griefing.

QFT. Yesterday I was in an SoR rush to take Hills. 30+ golems. 5 arrow carts took almost all of them all down.

No one even bothered with the arrow carts. They just thought the golems were enough in number that they could bust down both gates before they all died. The element of surprise was also lost minutes before the attack. For the entire fight I was just facepalming my desk.

You were scouted 5 minutes before the attack and you think you should have just walked over and taken hills with no resistance? You still wrecked the outer door in under 15 seconds.

It really is a great demonstration of how the tactical solutions of zergballers begins and ends with “get a bigger zerg”.

To be honest you might want to consider waiting a month until the latest Intel processors debut. Haswell is expected to perform about 10% better than Ivy Bridge clock for clock due to the new architecture.

Haswell should* also run a lot cooler than Ivy bridge, and heat can be an issue with GW2.

(*unless Intel hasn’t learnt their lesson and cheap out and use thermal paste instead of solder on the IHS again)

Honestly, never had much of a problem with retaliation, unless I have low health.

Different story for classes with fast or multiple attacks.

Example:
Despite doing the same ballpark damage

1 backstab = 1 retaliation proc = 370
1 unload = 8 retaliation procs = 2960

1 overcharged shot = 1 retaliation proc = 370
1 grenade barrage = 8 retaliation procs = 2960
(with area retaliation, grenade barrage can even return 24 retaliation procs for 8880)

After 5 minutes spent with Ctrl+F, I can tell you that 193 of 1316 posts are from around half a dozen VoTF members. And that’s only the VoTF members that advertise it in their signature…

It makes it pretty clear that this thread does not represent the opinion of the greater WvW community, and is nothing but a campaign run by a small group of posters to get their way.

You guys are silly if you think elixir S and mist form are equal. I just tested and I can pop mist form and aoe heal for 4.5k (attune water, dodge roll, regen tics, soothing mist tics) while aoe clearing 3 conditions. Can an engi do that?

Rifle and grenades are great fun for fighting Thieves.

Hit them with Rifle 2 to net them. Swap to Grenades and spam barrage, shrapnel and grenade while running towards them (If you do it right, they should land at the same time. Learn this trick, it does great spike damage). When you get in range, switch to Rifle, and use skill 4 to knock them on their kitten Close the gap with Rifle 1, Rifle 3 when in range, and then Rifle 5 when you reach them as they go in to stealth.
