Is this going to be modified along with the game-wide reward revamps as mentioned in the “6 month plan” blog?

Yesterday, using the GW2stuff.com api maps, I received 12 rares in only an hour, by mindlessly map jumping and half-assing boss fights.

In comparison, a WvW rank chest, which in my experience usually takes longer than an hour to earn, will more than likely reward me with a single green.

I fail to see the equality.

How do you know it isn’t someone foolishly trying to do Ultimate Fabricator and Ultimate Besieger?

Especially now with the achievement rewards …

This is a big part of the problem IMO. The game rewards behavior that could be viewed as griefing in certain circumstances.

Keep supply depots and non-linear upgrade queues are both also guilty of this.

Seeing some warped sense of achievement from TC in TCBL. Not sure why spamming laugh and corpse jumping was performed by them while having 4 times the numbers.

Regardless, thanks for the good fun.

With the amount of insults and disrespect thrown at TC in this thread, is it any wonder that some have stopped caring about being “nice”?

It may sound stupid (i.e. why would my router cause a graphic problem?), but don’t ignore this step:

have you tried bypassing your router all together and connecting directly to the modem?

I never had the black screen issue until one time when my ADSL was having terrible packet loss for a few days, and I decided to play via 3G with my phone tethered to my PC instead.

Anytime I would connect through the phone I would get random black screens, but going back to my router I wouldn’t have the problem.

So if you have any alternative network equipment, or can eliminate some, it’s worth your time to test with it.

that putting that in a blog post would be a little less specific than we generally like to be in something that visible.

I fail to see how “new maps” is any less specific than “replacing the orb mechanic”.

I also think it’s far more important to promote a WvW feature in something as visible as the “6 month plan” blog, regardless of how specific the info, to keep people interested in WvW and make them feel like the game mode has a future and isn’t being neglected.

I tried it real quick in WvW when I tested it so it was against a moving target/s. The latency could be an issue, I was actually going to mention that in my original post but forgot. Also check out what Dina said. I’m not sure I noticed it firing forward rather than where I aimed when holding the mouse 3 button, and I always play that way. I’ll try it out on dummies or something when I get home. Its worth a shot though if your having trouble.

I think I’ll have to devote some time to see if I can adapt my playstyle as a work around

The main reason it annoys me, is Air Burst (skill 3) on Flamethrower never misses for me, no matter what circumstance I use it. So if they can make that work with latency involved, then why can’t they do the same for Rifle skills :/

I’d like to correct you, because in my experience I have neither of these problems with the rifle. Just to be sure I just tested it, and yep, don’t have this problem. Are you sure your aiming in the general direction of what you’d like to hit?

Are you testing in against moving players, or against mobs / training dummys?

Perhaps it’s a latency issue due to my oceanic connection (which sadly they’ll use as an excuse to not change/fix anything )

Edit: I’ll also point out, as someone who used Flamethrower for a long time before they tweaked it’s aiming, I do know how the camera/aiming system works :P.

Rifle would make a lot more sense, and be a lot better, if it’s shotgun-style abilities actually worked properly as cone AoEs.

Now, before someone corrects me and says that Blunderbuss is a cone AoE, in whose experience does it actually work that way? In my experience the only way for Blunderbuss to not have a 50% chance to miss against a mere single enemy, is to target the enemy and (if you’re not closely chasing them) briefly stop moving so the game auto-aims you at them. (I suspect it’s another issue caused by ArenaNet testing on development servers located in their offices with 0.2ms lag)

Another annoyance is Overcharged Shot requiring a target to actually hit. To put it in perspective how stupid that is: In practice, I need to target someone to hit them with my shotgun at 400 range or it will miss, while Thieves will always hit people with Heartseeker without needing to target them at 450 range.

We’ve already had three Guild Wars games (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall) that were set in human lore, and as a result, we have more lore about humans than all of the other four playable races combined.

We don’t need yet another story about the Human gods.

Give one of the other races a change to be in the spotlight.

I think i’ll stick to Grenades for farming bades. I’ll tag upto 15 enemies per attack, 1500range away. Every .5seconds.

Fun build nonetheless, but you made it abundantly clear its entirely just to farm badges by tagging and otherwise not really dealing dangerous damage. And the Grenadekit just does that all-round much better. Picking up Grenadier only makes it that much better.

5 enemies, max; 15 total hits possible.

Incorrect.

5 enemies, if all 3 grenades hit, and only hit, the same targets
15 enemies, if each grenade doesn’t hit a target another grenade did

Both outcomes are equally unlikely. In practice it ends up somewhere in the middle.

We took Briar, then lost 90% of the golems (I think we had 60 of them) after getting caught in a bottleneck after taking down inner south of Bay. We were countered quite easily because the defense was prepared for us.

The defence was prepared for you because you showed your band by golem rushing Briar on the way to bay. A properly executed golem rush, which has no warning, is effectively unstoppable when the math is scaled to 30 golems.

The time, organization and effort required to run an effective golem rush is worth the reward of flipping a BL.

It’s takes 3 hours to upgrade bay, 3 hours to upgrade Garrison, and 3 hours to upgrade hills.
A 30 golem rushed flips them all in 15 minutes, and there is no effective way to defend against it.

Go run yaks and pay for upgrades for a night, then tell me it’s fair and not game breaking.

I’m actually one of the guys who does a lot of the boring stuff. Yak running and overwatch and such, so that upgrades don’t get spoiled by people trying to ninja our stuff. So I fully appreciate how much it sucks to have a keep ninjad, whatever method is used to do so (mesmer, stealth siege or golems)

And I’ll reiterate, golem rushes are not uncounterable. If you have nobody watching your keep and you lose it, that’s your bad. If you don’t notice suspicious activity like all your camps getting flipped by people wearing the same guild tag, and your spidey senses aren’t telling you “they’re building golems” then it’s your bad. It’s fully possible to counter it, you just need to be vigilant smart and prepared (and paranoid)

It’s a lot of fun when it goes right also, you should try it. I agree also that if the game devolves into only golem rushing, that will be boring as hell. Almost as boring as trebbing everything to death. But I don’t see either scenario happening yet even with the current siege prices.

I do agree with your points about being vigilant for golem rushes.

The issue I have is with scaling. A point can be reached where the total health pool of the golems exceeds the amount of damage that can be done to them (especially factoring the map siege limits) in the time it takes for the golems to reach the lord room.

That’s always existed, and it’s always been game breaking imo. However, the saving grace was it didn’t happen very often.

The problem is now that the game is being flooded with cheap golems, it is happening too often.

Your 30 man zerg is defeated by 40 players = “This is unfair kitten BS, FIX IT ARENANET”

If you;re being serious the changes to ACs actually encouraged bigger blobbing.

There is a difference between encouraging and having effect, and since 90%+ of people on any given WvW map were already blobbing/zerging, I fail to see how it made blobs larger.

The only actual effect it had, was giving smaller forces greater chance to defend against blobs/zergs.

they are just as bad, now siege can be purchased form TP its insane the amount there is now, got a tower finally after getting past NINE Arrow Carts, cats and other siege took ages using Trebs to down as much of the siege as possible

I agree that siege on the TP is creating issues with excessive siege atm, but defenders need an advantage, or else WvW just becomes a flip-fest. It should takes “ages” to capture a defended, sieged, upgraded tower.

Also, there are two distinct ways to play WvW.

1) You either play smart and use tactics, often involving siege equipment, or
2) You get as many people as possible in a blob and smack into opposing blobs.

OP is a number 2.

I recommend a 5x reduction in keep upgrade costs. To match the similar reduction that has happened to golems.

There’s still the problem that it takes 3 hours to fully upgrade a keep (and that’s if your yaks aren’t killed), but it takes less than 3 minutes to golem rush it.

I hope the problem gets even worse so ArenaNet actually have to do something about a problem that has existed for a long time.

You shouldn’t be able to buy your way into someones lord room via golem blueprints, and there should always be a way to actually defend (damage wise, it’s mathematically impossible to stop huge golem rushes).

Advice to budding developers (because Anet’s won’t learn): NEVER put stealth classes in a mulitplayer game.

Stealth is quite simply a gamebreaker that is no fun to come up against.

I remember waaaay back when ArenaNet first announced the Thief, they said that stealth was utilitarian and that they didn’t want Thieves to be in stealth all the time.

What a joke that turned out to be.

ArenaNet went with Thief instead of Assassin for a reason, but the balance team sure is doing their best to change that.

… and another new s/tPvP map comes with another patch. Grats to the few people who play sPvP. Anet’s obsession with this game being an eSport is getting baaaaaaad.

I’m thoroughly sick of this kitten.

WvW has a playerbase 100x larger than sPvP, yet sPvP has 7 maps, with 3 new maps since release. WvW has had the same 2 maps since release with zero updates.

And for people that want to use the excuse that WvW maps are larger and take more time, look at the amount of detail work in the latest sPvP map, and compare that to EB.

Just a quick tip for underwater with EG: You can detonate the #5 orb when underwater by pressing the skill again. A quick double-tap fixes any issues of the field not being around you.

Exploding at the player should be the default behavior imo.

…how would you suggest that work? You can’t just… put the elixir back in a bottle to make it a projectile on the second keypress.

I don’t want it to be a projectile.

It’s a handy buff, but I don’t like skills that have a secondary use that’s more powerful than their primary use.

When you can’t use it as a small heal because you’ll throw the MUCH more powerful stunbreak on cooldown, you have a tree falling in the woods kinda deal.

if it stays this way, than the skill is now a stunbreaker that adds some aoe regen.
Never again will it be seen as a regen skill, the regen is now a fun little side-effect.

Perhaps they should rename it to something more appropriate.
