You can launch asuras into keeps using trebuchets
As an Asura Engineer, I say bring it on >:D
Consensus around the intertubes is that 314.14 doesn’t like to overclock as much as previous driver versions. So turn down your overclock a bit (assuming you are OC’d).
I’ve never overclocked my graphic card, but is there a way to check if it’s overclocked in any way by default?
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
Being an Nvidia 600 series, you’ll need to make sure the graphics card is stressed so it goes into boost mode.
Alternatively you can download an overclocking program which will give you the info (you won’t need to overclock)

Just in case it helps someone (although I’m sure it’s different for ATI users):
On my Nvidia 3 screen setup, if I set the game to 5760×1080 the chat window and mini map appear on the middle screen, but if I set it to “windowed fullscreen” they appear on the outer monitors.
You probably will load faster with a ram drive, just as you load faster with an SSD over a HDD, but there will probably be a cap as to how quick you can load as it seems to be limited by the servers.
As a general rule of thumb, always go with the fastest single GPU you can afford. Then, later, you can get a 2nd card to run Crossfire or SLI.
Exactly.
The SLI option may be slightly faster than a 670/680 for same money, but buying a 670/680 now means you can buy another used one in a year of two when they’re cheap and have performance equal to the next generation of single cards.
While I like the auto-login on the launcher better than the old system, it would be cool to have the dragon logo animation flash over the screen before character select.
Noticed this too. Hylek need to be looked at.
I was handled as filthy talking animal, who brings mud into home and collects fleas.
Your point being?
As to your question, why don’t you make an Asura and find out?
Scared you might like it, bookah?
Golems are balanced around risk vs reward. The reward being they chew through gates like crazy, and the risk being that they’re slow and vulnerable until they get to the gate.
Problem is, when you introduce a Mesmer portal into the equation, it removes the risk leaving only the reward, thus making golems overpowered.
I used to hate how my Quaggan backpack was so small on my Asura. Then I did AC and was transformed into a human and I saw how horrible BIG engineer kits look on bookahs.
So I’m happy to live with small kits now : P
There was a bug with the outmanned buff which caused it to be stripped from players on death. That bug should be fixed in the March update.
I sincerely hope you’re doing more to the outmanned buff for the “big WvW” patch than just fixing a bug with how it applies.
Then on the other hand we have the issue of waypoints being permanently blocked (thus being redundant) by players systematically tagging keeps/garrisons to keep the in-combat status active.
Waypoints really need some changes.
I originally saw the Eternal Alchemy as a philosophy. That is until I heard an Asura talking to himself that his own findings have to be wrong because they conflict with the beliefs of the Eternal Alchemy. Does this make the Eternal Alchemy a religion that can’t be questioned?
The Asura view the Alchemy as science.
No different than dismissing a theory because it violates the laws of physics
There was a good thread about Asura religion a while ago:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/asura/Asuran-Religion/first
I found my problem.
I installed Lucid Virtu MVP recently to play around with it and the HyperFormance mode was disabling Aero. Strangely it only started doing it recently despite being enabled for the last few weeks, but turning it off solves my issue.
Thanks for everyone who gave feedback and advice
If you want a good salad, you have to tear off a couple of leaves.
maybe you accidentally messed about at the compatibility tab of the launchers properties.
rightclick on the GW2 icon —-> properties —-> compatibility
if “disable desktop composition” is checked, uncheck it.
Not checked. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Also, am I correct in my assumption that Aero disabling is now a default feature, or is it just me?
Is there a command line switch to keep Windows Aero enabled?
It was changed to automatically disable in a recent patch, and now my alt/tab speed is annoyingly slow.
I don’t get any benefit from Aero being disabled (I have a very high spec rig), and I can’t run in windowed mode for faster alt/tab because it causes problems with UI position on 3 screens.
The pie nerf proves that ArenaNet is taking bribes from big cake.
OP does raise an interesting point.
Many classes have been allowed to be very overpowered for months on end, with many people complaining about them, and they either don’t get nerfed, or have very tiny adjustments.
Engineers on the other hand seem to get nerfed everytime they have a strong, yet not OP build, even with no one complaining. Furthermore they seem to have no problem nerfing Engineers “to the ground” despite their stated goal of small adjustments to balance (Exhibit A: Grenades 30% nerf as a first step).
My asura just had a makeover he is officially the cutest asura here so you may commence sucking it.
If he’s so cute, then why does he have to hide his face with a mask?
The stupid thing is, the change doesn’t stop players from doing the burst they nerfed Kit Refinement for. All the change does it make Engineers MORE annoying to play, even for players that weren’t “100 nade’ing” people from inside their model.
Speedy Kits needs a major redesign for QoL reasons.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND kit refinement skills still have their normal CD + internal one
fantastic..
Could they be anymore half arsed?
/facepalm
This nerf does nothing to change that. A 10 second cooldown is NOTHING.
Except if you run more than 1 kit, which any decent Engineer does.
confusion is one of the weakest conditions in the game and only really affects Thieves and Rangers who like to spam 1 all the time.
It destroys grenade engineers too.
Harder to use = punished harder.
Doesn’t seem like great game design to me.
Why is it that every other class gets tiny adjustments to abilities the devs think are OP, but every time the devs think an Engineer ability is too strong it gets the “to the ground” treatment.
A simple way to counter their zergs is….more fireworks!
/facepalm
yeah! Go FA! Rock dat Points per tick!
You’re actually bragging about your Asian zerg guild night capping while you’re losing by 65,000 points?
/facepalm
he’s on maguuma
Fair enough then :P

Free at last!, free at last!
I want both!
Velvet Symphony (Mesmer, SBI)
D’awwww
Nice!
Zerg tactics getting bashed in the face with a baseball bat.
Good riddance.
Um…. if anything it encourages zerging.
Orange swords notify you of an attack of >5 players.
Now they will only notify you of an attack of >25 players.
So large groups, i.e. zergs, will now have benefits previously only afforded to tiny groups.
Upcoming WvW patch = purchased waypoints will be useless.
Old video, pre grenade nerf.
What about the “day capping problem” ?

Oceania

Pfft… what good is Synergetics. You’ll never discover the true meaning of the Eternal Alchemy. You’re simply wasting a potential lifetime of work.
We Dynamics types on the other hand have progressed our society to where we are today – the most advanced in all of Tyria.
The Engineer is a highly versatile class. While it doesn’t have the long range capabilities of the Ranger, or the melee capabilities of the Warrior or Guardian, they are comfortable at medium ranges in most fights. They have a lot of control, and use their boons to keep themselves (and allies) alive in a fight. They can use different kits based on the situation, but this extreme versatility comes at a cost in damage on their main hand weapons.
Holy wow that made a difference! I’m now on ~30 FPS the whole time with most settings on medium and a few on high
Thanks a lot Mif
Woohoo!
Glad to be able to help
I strongly recommend getting an SSD.
But if you don’t have the money, you can play with FancyCache and see if it gives you an improvement.
It works by using some of your ram (recommend a setting of 1gb to 1.5gb, of which you will “lose” the use of as ram) to store data that has already been read from your HDD. So your first load to LA each boot will be slow, but subsequent loads should theoretically be faster.
I have removed the Apple graphics drivers and have the most up to date version of AMD Catalyst.
Are you running the WHQL (release) or beta drivers?
The latest beta has GW2 improvements:
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst132BetaDriver.aspx
To quote the devs. “thiefs give new players alot of trouble, but kinda fade out the higher level of play you get to”
New player tries sPVP
New player gets one shot by Thief
New player new plays sPVP again
Dev’s wonder why sPVP isn’t more popular
Copy paste these into a chat tab while on your Asura, then right click the result and choose preview.
Staff = [&AgF9fQAA]
Greatsword = [&AgGGfQAA]
If you want to preview more stuff you can get the codes from a number of sites, for example GW2DB.
While you all bicker and complain there are real issues plaguing this world such as lost baby quaggans desperately looking for their families..
You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
D’awwww
The real issue is that Anet wouldn’t want 2 professions to have very similar playstyles.
Ding ding ding winner!
All professions are meant to have a unique mechanic. ArenaNet will NOT make Engineers F1-F4 work like Elementalists.
Don’t even use the harpoon…
Do use the harpoon.
Double tap Harpoon 2 at melee range, it does huge damage, then use Harpoon 4 (also good damage) before you switch to a kit.
Game Content in gem store would be bad idea, but an overall expansion~ now I’m curious. You can buy the Digital Deluxe version with gems, I wonder if we’re going to be able to buy entire expansions with gems? Wouldn’t be much difference than ordering it digitally from site, except you could use gold to fund it. O_o
I doubt they’d ever do it. Too many people would trade gold for gems instead of paying $$ for the expansion (in part or full), limiting the profit the expansion would make.
Digital Deluxe upgrade is a different story because they already have your $$ and it’s just a few in-game items your buying.
(edited by Mif.3471)
At OP.
A net specifically said that expansions will be free the only thing to buy is cash shop items. That is of course if i am correct.
What i want in gem store?
More variety.I have seen them say there will be free updates but I have not seen them say they will not be having paid expansions. I would like to see their quote on that if it is the case. It would seem odd since they did have xpacs for GW1.
Edit:
I may have found it.
“At this time we don’t plan to continue with the standalone expansion model,” revealed Guild Wars 2’s lead designer."
http://www.gw2fans.com/guild-wars-2-discussion/2197-no-standalone-expansions-guild-wars-2-a.html
Reading that whole thing seems to point toward what I was suggesting in my OP. Releasing new zones in the store.
An “expansion” is different to a “stand alone expansion”.
GW1 had “stand alone expansions” where you didn’t have to own the original game to play the content of the expansions.
GW2 will not have that model and will require you to own the core game to play any expansion content.
