Obviously I cant speak for anyone else in IoJ, but I welcome a change of opponents for once.
Agreed.
IoJ has been fighting T1 quality servers in T2 for months, with no real chance of winning for most of it. Hopefully moving down a tier will allow us to have a shot at winning, or at least be very competitive, thereby inspiring more of our population to participate in WvW (which has been our biggest challenge).
You seem to forget we were fighting your IoJ zerg along with the whole BG defence which were all superiors.
So basically you’re agreeing with my point that it was a good idea to use you to take out BG’s siege equipment to allow IoJ an easier cap.
(edited by Mif.3471)
You seem to forget the fact that you were so busy defending your newly acquired Bay keep that you completely ignored Hills keep, which a small IoJ team took from you at the exact same time we took Bay keep from you.
Face it, your zerg tactics got outplayed.
(edited by Mif.3471)
When you’re spamming Lion’s Arch don’t call it WvW, call it “I can’t believe it’s not PVE”
Couldn’t see the responses of this on the old one so…
Thanks IoJ guy for ramming down the gate while we wiped your entire zerg LOL
(and he finished the gate off for us after his entire zerg was dead)
That was actually me on the ram. Perhaps you should learn some strategy.
Since our entire zerg was dead, instead of letting BG regroup and defend, taking the gate down allowed you to either continue pressure on them until we got back, or flip the keep thereby getting rid of all the upgrades and siege equipment, thus making it easier for us to attack.
You did so, and IoJ took the keep from you 5 minutes later and held it for at least the next several hours until I logged.
The fact that you’re a commander and you can’t think tactically is where the true lols are in your post.
you people forget they nerfed EVERY KIT
No they didn’t.
Show me in the patch noted where they did:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-December-14-2012/first
Because superior numbers is the lamest way to win.
Except, engineers still do good damage outside of the grenade kit. People have pointed out a few times that rifle, bomb, and heck even the flamethrower now that we have sigils (though targeting can be buggy) do good damage when built properly.
I think the thing people have issue with, is ArenaNet brought grenade kit down to the level of everything else, when everything else should of been brought up to the level of grenade kit.
Compared to other classes we might as well be shooting bean bags.
You need two things to efficiently kill with the buff up:
1) Vulnerability
2) Poison
People tend to overlook the poison, but in the time it takes to kill the boss, they will get a heal off, and if you can half that heal it’s a huge amount of damage you don’t need to do.
I think the solution is obvious….
Nerf Engineers.
TC will have a really hard time in tier 2 if Blackgate doesn’t move up to T1… Theres a 150 rating difference
Because if BG move up TC will have a much easier time against the T1 refugee with 145 rating advantage?
I’m glad we at IoJ have gotten out of this tier at time we have.
With the recent stacking that’s happened on BG thanks to server population caps being raised I don’t see anyone beating BG and the fierce competition that was T2 will no doubt fizzle.
SoR and TC are going to have to put up with being dominated until BG moved up.
Then they can enjoy being dominated by JQ or SBI instead…
Actually Princess Dolls unfairly effect grenade engineers because we don’t have an autoattack, thus we are far more likely to activate skills (because we have to constantly spam 1) when we get hit by sudden large stacks of confusion.
We lost only hire and another small oceanic guild. Actually a large chunk of hire stayed behind and formed a new guild.
What many people on other servers wouldn’t realize, is HIRE’s recent success comes from aggressive recruiting and getting other guilds to merge into them over the past month. They claimed this was to consolidate efforts and improve IoJ’s WvW performance.
What we have only now found out, was they have been planning to transfer the entire time, and along with Grimaldi of Blood Pact they secretly attempted to poach as many WvW players as possible from IoJ before they transfered.

What’s your stance on sending you pictures of cats?
Is there something going on with engineers? I was gonna roll one, maybe I shouldn’t now?
Huge amounts of bugs. We have traits that do literally nothing.
RNG everything makes it very frustrating to play, and success often depends more on luck than skill.
Very very poor damage. All our kits and weapons are so bad most Engineers were using Grenades, a ground targeted AOE with no autoattack, for single target damage. Now They nerfed that 35% (despite their policy of “taking small steps”).
Very few (if any) viable builds.
Downed state is LMFAO horrible.
According to ArenaNet’s class balance philosophies, Engineers are “a highly versatile class” but “this extreme versatility comes at a cost in damage on their main hand weapons”. Elementalist’s on the other hand are considered “the king of versatility”, but have no penalty for that honor.
And on top of all that, they’re one of the hardest classes to play, so it’s twice the effort for half the reward.
Because it makes the developers feel clever.
We’re the ones that have to live with it though….
(edited by Mif.3471)
I’d love to see more Asuran weapons. Having all siege equipment (except for golems) based on medieval Human and Charr technology is boring.
I want a MEGA-LASER
Personally, I think siege towers/siege ladders would be awesome
The WvW meta game is already biased towards attackers, adding something like this would see the end of defending altogether.
I remember Anet telling us that they were looking into classes that do insane burst damage. Well they are certainly taking their time about it. “We do it in small steps…”
Unless you’re an Engineer, then first the first small step is -35%
(we ran the numbers, it ain’t 30%)
Something that cute couldnt possibly be evil. Where do I sign up?
I know right!
They could actually use a buff imo.
They were nerfed during beta, but that was due to the complaints when everyone was level 30ish. In the live game at 80 they barely tickle.
So when all your damage goes into a single attack, when happens when I dodge roll or use a block?
Meanwhile to avoid the 3×290 damage the Grenade Engineer did all you have to do is not stand still.
Good thing they nerfed grenades, you could be killed in 25 seconds if you were AFK !!
Huh? my engineer dealt about 4k+ dps aoe with the grenade auto attack. With the recent changes that just passed if it wasnt nerfed I could deal closer to 6k dps, mind you I can still deal 3k dps with grenade so it aint terrible.
1) I was refering to the damage dealt by the Engineer in the screenshot
2) Grenades don’t have an auto attack
3) “AOE dps” isn’t relative to anything

I don’t see what’s so bad about the Inquest :P
WvW Is fun. Especially when people aren’t being well.. Mean about it.
Nods
It’s rather disappointing when you have a good 2 or 3 minute 1v1 with someone only for them to /laugh when they beat you.
Whatever happen to giving a /bow as a show of respect for a good fight?
Unlike human ears, they’re fully mobile like cat or dog ears :p (One of their idle animations they sniff the air too between that and their big eyes lead to me to suspect their senses are wayyyy more acute than bookah’s)
Yep. Remember the asura in EotN who was developing some sort of air freshening device? He said asuras have really sensitive noses.
Just more proof as to why we are superior
This is because we’ve built up a reputation of not giving up.
Must be hard to win 5 weeks in a row.
Chin up and keep on trucking Blackgate. It’s called dedication, which is what Blackgate is all about.
I thought it was all about victory through superior numbers, hence the nickname “Stackgate”. I’ve never heard it referred to as “Dedicationgate”.
This is because we’ve built up a reputation of not giving up.

Shhhhh….
Stop getting things nerfed.
/noms more pie
It does look like SoR is taking second place for the 5th week in a row though…
3rd week in a row
Well at least now I have time to level my other characters.
Oh wai.. I don’t even want to log in anymore.
Pretty much where I’m at too.
I only ever played the one class in an effort to perfect my skill, some 540 hours worth.
No way am I starting again, forced to play some faceroll Warrior or Guardian just to be viable.
I’ll even do the math.
Over 50 seconds (to make the math easier to understand) we will use Poison Grenade twice, Flash Grenade five times, and Grenade for every other attack.
Pre-nerf:
2 x Poison Grenade @ 0.000 = 0.000
5 x Flash Grenade @ 0.000 = 0.000
43 x Grenade @ 0.500 = 21.50
For a total of 21.50
Post-nerf:
2 x Poison Grenade @ 0.200 = 0.400
5 x Flash Grenade @ 0.100 = 0.500
43 x Grenade @ 0.330 = 14.19
For a total of 15.09
Interestingly 21.50 – 30% = 15.05
So the gain we get from Poison Grenade and Flash Grenade dealing damage is actually nullified by the true nerf to Grenade Skill 1 (34%, not the claimed 30%).
(edited by Mif.3471)
I’m so sick of people claiming that Flash Grenades and Poison Grenades doing damage somehow balanced the nerf out.
We lost 35% damage on a skill we use once per second, and gained damage (which is only 1/3 and 2/3 the damage of a skill 1 attack) on skills we use once every 10 and 25 seconds.
It doesn’t even come close to compensating.
/sigh
I’ve spent my entire time in GW2 playing only my Engineer to perfect my skills, a total of 540 hours, the vast majority in WvW. Engineer viability was already borderline, and this nerf pretty much puts the final nail in the coffin.
What would people recommend I reroll (assuming I don’t quit altogether) with a focus on WvW?
(edited by Mif.3471)
The Grenade kit is a step in the right direction, it forces Engis to not pigeon-hole themselves and explore more options, options that Engis excel in; which in my opinion is utility.
Or in other words, it pingeon-holes us into being a utility support class.
I didn’t sign up to be the healer. So much for no trinity.
I very much agree : )
I’ve been on a lot of MMO forums before but some of the Arenanet supporters are downright delusional. In this patch they buffed:
1. thieves
2. mesmers and
3. D/D ElemantalistsThey buffed the three most overpowered classes in the game and nerfed Engineers. Was there a single post on the forums complaining about OP engineers? I defy you to find a single one. This is total clownshoes, and Anet needs to be called out on it.
That was the thing that took me from being unhappy with the Engineer nerfs, to no longer having faith in the competence of ArenaNet’s class balance team.
Edit also related to engineer:
Engineer
The Engineer is a highly versatile class. While it doesn’t have the long range capabilities of the Ranger, or the melee capabilities of the Warrior or Guardian, they are comfortable at medium ranges in most fights. They have a lot of control, and use their boons to keep themselves (and allies) alive in a fight. They can use different kits based on the situation, but this extreme versatility comes at a cost in damage on their main hand weapons.
Funny how we get the “utility tax” yet Guardians who are literally in demand by groups (we aren’t) for their utility don’t.
Quick question does each gernade have a chance to trigger an effect?
Yes, but all sigils now have built in cooldowns, so you can only trigger them once every 2/5 seconds regardless.
Also, grenades are the easiest attack in the game to counter, all you have to do is not stand in place like an idiot.
Yet Hundred Blades, despite being able to one shot people, is considered balanced because you can get out of it…. if you have a stun break….. off cooldown.
Grenades were way out of line compared to the other weapons and kits.
People don’t use grenades because they’re uber powerful, they use grenades because all our other weapons are weak as hell compared to other professions.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-December-14-2012
“Grenade” skill now does 30% less damage to balance against using sigils."
My opinion:
1) A sigil is not worth 30% more damage
Example: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_Air
30% Chance on Critical for a 1.1 damage coefficient attack on a 5 second cooldown is not equal to 30% of the damage of grenades.
2) It forces us to run a damage dealing sigil instead of a utility sigil.
I love my Elixir U for quickness, but the randomness of the bebuff is a pain in the kitten
There is no way of knowing what debuff you have without mousing over to see what it is (because the icons are too vague), and if you spend time doing that you’ll waste all of your short few seconds of quickness.
Also, the toolbelt having 2 skills that do one thing, and one skill that does something completely different often makes it useless.
You know that red have the Tree Spirit Champion by Speldan, that also give a chest just like Grub,
And that supposedly have one around their area as well?Just saying, there are 3 Champs on that map that all gives a chest with badges
Let’s be honest, no one even bothers going out of their way to Speldan, which people have already stated is the most out of the way supply depot on the map. And you yourself already confirmed what is true for a lot of people… what / who / where is that Champ for 1st place?! It’s out of the way enough that hardly anyone knows what it is, let alone where it is and actually kill it.
Grub on the other hand is stupidly close to keep, is seen and passed whenever people travel to Durios and Umber for defense and has the nagging map notification when you’re at keep.
You can also use the Speldon’s Supervisor to help kill the tree spirit, so you don’t need a big group to do it like you do for the Grub.
Great job
I think the problem isn’t with the map, it’s just that 2nd place (ie Blue) gets targeted more.
Green (1st) isn’t threaten by Red (3rd), so they attack Blue (2nd).
Red (3rd) isn’t a match for Green (1st), so they attack Blue (2nd).
I really wish they would modify the upcoming reward changes to reward one first place and two equal loser places. It would encourage people to focus on the leading server, so the right people would get double teamed.
This is why bookahs shouldn’t be allowed on the forums.
“Six feet tall!” Still bugs the hell out of me. It implies that bigger is better, and that clearly isn’t the case, since Asura-like is better. No self-respecting Asura would compare himself to a clumsy, bumbling bookah.
Indeed.
I also don’t see people from METRICa Province using “feet”.
