A simple system of “winner go to next tier” and “loser goes to a lower tier” would work.

The problem with that system is it encourage servers to play for 2nd place, which defeats the 3 sides system.

Possibly a better system would be:

When a server wins, it goes to the top of it’s bracket.
If it wins from the top of the bracket, it goes up a tier.
When a server goes up a tier, it goes to the middle of the bracket, and bumps the 3rd place server down.

Under such a system. the only way to increase ranking is to win, so servers won’t play for 2nd place, and servers can move up by simply winning 2 weeks in a row, leading to more matchup variety.

If everyone is at 1500 rating, whoever has the biggest wins will go to T1.
Problem is, by default the biggest wins will be against WvW corpses like SBI and IoJ.

So going by the projections of SBI and IoJ’s opponents for next week, it will be a free pass to T1 for Yaks Bend and Ehmry Bay.

Pretty kitten stupid.

While I think that most of the “huge buff” people are experiencing is a placebo :P, I definitely have seen an increase in FT damage.

My total for skill 1 attacks used to be around 1200, now it’s around 1500.

They mean how a rifle equipped by an engineer, no matter exotic or legendary or whatever, it will always, always do 1090 damage. Which if I remember correctly is the highest damage available on a rifle’s stats to an engineer.

So it’s pretty much that I guess.

Are you taking top damage or average damage?

Because top damage for rifle is 1205, with 1095 average.

If the hero panel is displaying attack using the average damage with a kit equipped, and top damage with rifle equipped, it might explain the difference (would need to double check the numbers).

This patch did nothing to address those who do not use kits. P/P still needs to have it’s damage to condition damage ratios adjusted to have more condition damage. Part of being versatile is being able to spec via weapon or kit into another specialization. Right now kits are still a mess and don’t know what they want to be damage(crit) or condition.

Grenadier is the worst imo. They balance grenade kit around it, thereby making the kit nonviable without a 30 point trait. That’s not versatility….

Also it’s worth noting that from our patch notes, we didn’t get anything that wasn’t a bug fix (quality assurance team / programming team) or a coding change (programing team).

The balance team devs did literally nothing to improve Engineers >.>

You have about 17 hours until reset. Both Kaineng and Maguuma will get harder matchups after reset and won’t hold everything. If you want ezmode WvW map completion, I’d suggest making your move ASAP.

They should of never let free transfers go on so long.

Yes they did it because of no guesting, but I doubt many people were transfering to play with friends and then transfering back again once 3 day and 7 day cooldowns were introduced.

They should of gone paid right from the start, and given everyone one free transfer with a 45 day use by date, thus allowing people to transfer to a friends/guilds server (if they couldn’t make in in on launch) when they had the opportunity.

I had an issue where NPC mail from holiday events were counting as part of my 10 message quota, but the UI was only displaying 2/10.

Only after deleting my plentiful NPC mail was I able to receive mail from players again.

Moral of the story: Delete NPC mail.

Thief

Thieves are the masters of mobility, stealth and high single target damage. They can be very fragile if you counter their stealth with area of effects or large stacks of conditions, but they trade this fragility in order to have some of the highest burst damage in the game. They are able to help allies through traps, venoms and the mobility to flank most encounters.

Looks like now they’ll just have the burst without the fragility.

Do you plan to do anything to balance the massive amount of transfers at the moment from WvW guilds to higher ranked servers due to the impending closure of free transfers?

If you’re worried about AOE being too powerful in dungeons, then why don’t you split the skills for WvW and PVE. What you propose punishes WvW to help PVE, and I can only see this as you considering PVE to be the more important of the two.

Why are Engineers penalized for their versatility, while Elementalists, which you called the “kings of versatility”, not penalized?

It’s about time this happened. But I fear it might be too little too late. Servers that were once great have toppled under the weight of bandwagoners, the population balance has been made a mockery of.

I fear now that the face of WvW has been scarred forever by this, and the intention of the game mode will no longer be fulfilled. Servers were supposed to be of relatively equal population, and skill and co-ordination were supposed to be the determining factors. But now population is the determining factor, and since transfers are likely to slow down dramatically, it’s unlikely anyone in the currently T1 servers will transfer off, leaving a permanent population imbalance, and a ladder format not worth participating in.

Of course, this is not a reason to stop the implimentation of this much needed mechanic. If there’s any hope for WvW to recover, it will be a very, very slow process, probably taking years before the population balance evens out.

Well put, and I completely agree.

I’d even go further to say that the problem may never correct itself, as new players with an interest in WvW will start off on high ranked WvW servers, and thus the current high ranked servers will always have a larger active WvW population.

ArenaNet needs to actively do something to help solve the problem of WvW population imbalance, and stop crossing their fingers and hoping it sorts itself out.
