Thanks a lot for the awesome game. One of the best I have ever played.=D
I have played 2 explorables so far, and I’ll agree that the rewards are pretty bad.
-Token reward is very little. Need to do a lot of runs to get stuff.
-Chests only provide useless blue items – maybe the occassional green rune or rare tonic (lol?)
-The silver reward seems to be pretty well. I don’t know if this is obtained every run, or only goes for your first run on that dungeon… Then again, it generally takes a long time to finish a run, so it isn’t all that efficient anyway.
Unless you’re really in it for the token grind or the challenge to beat it, there doesn’t seem to be much reward to be gained from doing dungeons at all.
It would be nice if there was a chance to at least get greens or rares from the chests.

Underwater doesn’t really do it for me to be honest. It’s not really bad, just not as interesting or fun as land combat. It’s mostly just circle strafing around target while casting spells, there isn’t much more to it.
Yup, crafting doesn’t play. Bugged probably.
Some missions need to be balanced better difficulty-wise. I’ve had some missions that were a walk in the park, while others were tough as hell. It doesn’t really make sense.
Yeah, it makes sense, and was to be expected.
It would cost way too much resources to make15 or so story-lines that are completely unique from level 1 to 80. The final goal is to defeat Zhaitan, so it makes sense the storylines come together at some point.
I believe the god choice affects skills that you have access to.
Pretty sure I chose Lyssa and have a Blessing of Lyssa boon skill on my thief.
I have access to all god skills, so I don’t think it’s that.
That boss didn’t even get to that stage in my fight. After a few teleports he just stayed in one place and shot at Trahearne only from that point on. It was just a boring stand there and shoot at the eye fight while dropping the occassional heal on Trahearne.
Heh, glad it was of use to you.^^
A story generally isn’t about just one person. Just because there’s a few other big characters in the story doesn’t change the fact a large part of the story is still about your character.
I played up to the final story in the game with my human character, but can’t remember having my god of choice having any effect on my personal story? For my Elementalist I went with Dwayna (cause lightning rocks), but the only time a human god was part of the story was during the temple of Grenth mission and the underwater Abaddon dungeon.
Did I miss something?
My Elementalist about to kick some Shatterer butt.=D
Using dual daggers, I always open with lightning (ride the lightning), then switch over the fire and the other elements. I generally use all 4 elements in a fight, unless I’m feeling lazy or fighting something weak.
Anyways, I feel fire is more useful for its damage. It has AoE and burning. Lightning however has a leap, a knockback (+free dodge), shield and weaken. Both elements are good and worth using.
An Elementalist commoner who lost his sister.
He joined Vigil later in the story, and saved a skritt community.
Just playing the game the same way I did before I was level 80.
Introduction:
ArenaNet has offered the ability for people to replace Guild Wars 2 ingame music with different custom playlists that will play at certain locations / situations. This guide will explain how to do this.
Getting Started:
What you need is any media program that can create and save music playlists. The following playlist formats are supported: .wpl, .m3u, .pls, .asx, and .wax
For Windows users Windows Media Player is the easiest option.
Supported audio files are: everything FMOD supports by default, which includes .mp3, .ogg, .flac, .wav. aiff, and a bunch of old-school music formats, like .mid or .it files
Setting Up The Playlists:
Drag the song(s) you want for your playlist inside the playlist menu, and go to File, then select Save Now Playing list as… and locate your Guild Wars 2 music folder, which should be under: C:\Users\Your Name\My Documents\Guild Wars 2\Music
These are the recognised playlists: Ambient, Battle, Underwater, City, Crafting, BossBattle, NightTime, and MainMenu – Saving under any other names will not play the list ingame.
A how-to-do video on setting up your playlists (excuse my English… not my main language…):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cQFoMQTnns&hd=1
How They Work:
Custom playlists work the way you’d think they’ll work. Whenever you’re out in the field during daytime you’ll have your Ambient playlist playing. During battle with more than 3 enemies at a time, the game will activate the Battle playlist. In the huge instanced cities, your City playlists will be playing.
Songs don’t seem to get randomised very well. A playlist will always start off with the first song on the list. What I’ve noticed from the little testing that I did with the MainMenu playlist is that after the first song it does seem to randomise the songs. So a possible solution might be add one very short silent sound file as your first song on the list.
Tip: Using a short audio file as the first song does function as a playlist randomiser. Randomising works for all playlists, except MainMenu and BossBattle.
A Fix To Quiet Playlists
In the previous custom music thread there were people having trouble with getting it to work. The most common problem was setting up the playlists as described in my video, but not hearing any music ingame.
Luckily I found out what caused this, and how to fix this.
This is caused by having your Windows Media Player writing shortcuts for the file location in the playlist. Then moving the playlist to another drive, the game will not be able to find the location of the audio file from the written shortcut in the playlist.
The easy way to fix this is to save your playlist on a different drive than the one you saved it on previously, and then copy/paste that playlist into your Guild Wars 2\Music folder.
If you don’t have a second drive to save your playlists on, you can try this. Open your playlist file in Notepad. You’ll see the file location for each song in the list is noted as a shortcut. Manually edit the noted location so it shows the full location. Example of playlist with full locations for each song:

I’ve done a few story dungeons and 1 explorable, and I think they’re ok.
The 2 things that bother me most are the immense HP bars of all mobs, including the basic non-boss stuff. It takes long just to take out a small group of trash.
The other is the reward system… such a grind to get the good stuff.
For the rest, they serve their purpose of offering a good challenge to those looking for difficult PvE content.
Welcome.=P Enjoy the game.
The same has been happening to me since 2 days ago. Before that it never happened.
It freezes my game and my PC, and forces me to restart the computer.
What’s the point in a challenge if you can just outlevel it?
So I bought my first piece of endgame gear yesterday. The 42K karma piece from a vendor in Orr. But I was wondering if the set is actually good, useful or worth getting if I don’t like the aesthetics of it (was planning to transmute it)?
Would it be better or easier for me to use crafting to get a max set I like than gathering Karma for 10 more months for the other pieces?
Also how hard is it to obtain Superior Runes of Dwayna? Cause that’s what I want on my set, but no idea how or where to get them…
Also, I was wondering where to get these two sets from.
I know this set is in the game, because I saw someone wearing it a few days ago. Originally I thought it came from the Twilight Arbor dungeon, but I found out that one gets you the Nightmare set. Anyone knows how/where to get this set from?

Then there’s this set, only seen the concept art of it on the Wiki:

Is this even in the game? If so, where is it?
Planned for an expansion.
Thank you.

I’m Tailor and just got to level 100. It tells me I can now craft a 10 Slot Wool Bag, but I need a Minor Rune of Holding to make one. I can’t find the recipe to make one. I tried all the materials I have. What do I need?
I play dual daggers Elementalist, and I’m doing fairly well at 80 I think.
My traits:
-10 Fire (30% burning on critical)
-20 Air (+movement while in Air // 5% precision to healing)
-10 Earth (create Earth shield at 50%HP)
-30 Arcane (Gain boon on attunement swap // Gain Arcane Power at 75% // Elemental Spell on dodge)
The point of the build is to constantly swap elements for the boons. Charge in with lightning. Damage with fire. Knockdown + AoE with earth. Chill and heal with ice.
Yeah, it might be kind of hard to find, but it should open a gate somewhere near the top.
Lightning Whip (main-hand dagger Elementalist) often seems to miss those even when standing right in front of them.
Also the waypoint in Strait of Devestation (the one west of the Balthazar altar) is still not working.=/
I would love to have it back.
Thanks, I’ll try that.
I was just doing an event in Strait of Devestation (Assault on Balthazar Temple meta) with a ton of other people. Twice during the event all game sound disappeared and only heard a continuous beeping sound.
First time I closed the game, got back in. Near the end of the event the sound bug occurred again, this time crashing my game a second after.
I’ve had this same bug happen once in a big WvWvW fight as well, and last week in some other DE I did with people around.

I agree. Hope it gets “fixed” some time.
I’ve had the same happen, but it hasn’t been that bad for me (so far at least).
No, they don’t give karma. But sometimes events happen around the heart areas, and they’ll give you karma.
Yeah, we had 5 slots in the beta.
At headstart launch I somehow had 7 slots on my account (Collector’s Edition).
Yeah, hopefully we can get it back.
Oh, that didn’t even show up on my server.=/
My system:
AMD FX™-4100 Quad-Core Processor
3.6GHz
4GB RAM
GTX 660 ti (latest drivers installed)
Can run other games at high graphics and good FPS, yet Guild Wars 2 struggles to keep a steady 30FPS at recommended settings. It varies something between 20-40FPS using recommended graphics settings. But even when setting graphics to lowest possible, it still runs at 25-55FPS (can’t even get to 60 unless idling…)
Any news on optimisation, because this is pretty ridiculous.
I’m not sure… but Elite Skills don’t work underwater? At least I’m playing Elementalist, and the elite slot is totally greyed out, can’t select a skill there when I’m underwater.
By not working, you mean it does not appear where it’s supposed to be, right?
If so, it’s the same on Gunnar’s Hold. Can see the skillpoint icon on the map, but there’s nothing.
Have you tried logging in on one of your Guild Wars 1 characters?
I created a guild on the first day of the headstart, and then used my Tome of Influence (which I had from my CE) to boost Influence points, however I received no points.
Any chance I could get a new tome that’ll actually work?
