I can’t wait for an update to dungeon loot. Hopefully that’ll give people more incentive to fight and kill stuff instead of skip everything they possibly can. It’s rather ridiculous that people are so afraid of doing the actual content on a path, and it’s only going to be harder for new players to fully enjoy dungeons in PUGs — and guild teams as well. I’ve been in guilds that skip just as much as PUGs, because it’s faster, easier and no reason to kill any extras.
I feel more dungeon content should be gated, maybe require a certain amount of mobs killed before the party can progress. Or have leftover mobs gather at a boss fight at the end of a section to make skipping a risk vs reward thing. Like if a group keeps alive too many mobs, they’ll get swarmed during the boss fight.
Anyways, yeah. It’s sad that people rather skip parts of dungeons, rather than just playing them. This kind of thing happened in Guild Wars 1, and pretty much destroyed everything elite areas stood for, or were meant to stand for. If I wanted to speedrun, rush and skip, I’d be playing a Sonic game on my Sega… seriously.
What’s nice about the sylvari is that any profession makes sense for them. They’re curious beings, that don’t mind trying out things completely new to them. So whether you make one Elementalist, Necromancer, Engineer or Guardian or anything else, it’ll make sense.
The last boss on path 2? The asura guy? He isn’t that hard. If your team managed to get that far, I can’t imagine getting stuck on him.
And path 4’s final boss is a complete joke. That’s like the easiest encounter in Arah…

-Ride the Lightning off cliffs, being a badkitten.
-Any of the huge meta-event bosses for the first time.
-The Iron Forge Man in Sorrow’s Embrace.
-The sacrifice of my mentor on Claw Island.
-Visiting Orr for the first time in the Dream.
-Cleansing Orr mission ending.
-Seeing Zhaitan for the first time, and killing him.
-Killing Giganticus Lupicus for the first time.
-Going around the Orr in one of the story quests with the UI off, and exploring without getting attacked by anything. It’s beautiful.
-Zerging the Balthazar event with like 50 people, and still failing it.
-Many many more…
No chance I’ll win this, but might as well give it a try, because Sunrise is the legendary I am aiming for for my Guardian.

I doubt there’s a good solution to the problem, but in my opinion the best thing to do is to permanently ban people who abuse the vote kick in a way like this. We don’t need people like that in Guild Wars 2.
I’m pretty sure they have said the level cap will be raised with expansions. However, that was a while ago, not sure if they’re going to stick to that plan.
From a business stand-point it would make sense. Think of how much money they’d make selling those Fine Transmutation stones…?
The lack of holy trinity or whatever has nothing to do with Guild Wars 2 not having interesting fights. There are quite interesting, challenging and fun bosses, however, a lot of the other bosses are pretty bland and boring.
The problem is that they spent a lot on the few good bosses, and they probably didn’t have enough time/resources to flesh out the rest.
I don’t care for holy trinity, because I’ve never played an MMO that had that sort of combat, nor am I interested in seeing any kind of holy trinity combat coming to Guild Wars 2. After having to deal with huge profession discrimination in Guild Wars 1, I’m glad to see that every class is welcome in dungeon parties in Guild Wars 2. I’d rather have “bland” bosses with huge HP pools, than being rejected for a party on my favourite class, or being forced into one specific role I hate to play just to experience an “interesting” boss.
Friend1- “Hey, dude. I want this CoF gear… so you wanna run CoF with me?
Friend2- “Hey, dude. Yeah, sure. CoF is pretty fun, even though I don’t need gear from it. I want to get the Arah set, though. You wanna join for that after CoF?”
Friend1- “Sure, sounds good. Arah’s a nice challenge or so I’ve heard.”
Friend2- “Well yeah, it’s supposed to be the most challenging dungeon in the game.”
Friend1- “Sounds good. We’ll do that after CoF.”
What above poster said. Elementalists are considered one of the hardest classes to play, so unless you’re up for a gameplay challenge, you might want to consider playing something else first.
I’d prefer having our Fiery Greatsword skill changed to Elemental Greatsword that has different looks and skills for each attunement, and lasts longer.
Someone suggested this even on another thread and that is a good idea imho.
But all ppl should be aware that what Elementalist really needs isn´t a new weapon set , but a bugfix of our skills/traits/some game mechanics (which often bothers even other classes – for example starting an autoattack with non-offensive skill/mechanic usage etc…)
Additions are welcome, but only after the class actually works

And yeah, of course bug fixes first. I don’t expect them to add new weaponsets until an expansion comes out anyway, so that’ll probably be next year or so.
I’ve also learned that pugs have a tendency to skip past everything and anything that is deemed “skippable” by all means necessary. I’m personally not a big fan of skipping huge packs of mobs and even bosses, or using cheesy exploits to beat certain bosses; but in most groups, I’m generally the one being invited to, instead of me inviting them. So I’ll let the designated leader run the show.

A weapon I’d like to see on Elementalists is the 1-handed sword. Cause then there’d finally be a reason to craft the legendary weapon Bolt.=P

But the order mentors are actually some of the best npcs to have. Tybalt can tank some damage, even if he is an engineer
I let Sieran fight a mob on her own, and she did pretty well. Barely got hurt at all. It took her a while though.xD But I guess that’s to do with her being a water Elementalist, and more focused on defence/survival.
I’ve PUG’d my way to Dungeon Master title, and run many more dungeons paths after that. Most PUGs have been pretty nice. Yeah, it’s usually slow, but what do you expect?
Almost every PUG I’ve been in has at least made it to the end of the dungeon (with the hardest being path 4 in Arah, failing my PUG twice…) Most people are pretty nice and decent, and ok players. Sometimes you get a jerk or a real noob, but they usually ragequit before the dungeon ends or gets himself kicked and replaced within minutes.
My second character is Virgil and there I agree with you all. However, my first character was in the durman priory and you get stuck with the overexcited -‘look here i can fly an your not’ – Magister Sieran. I was really happy when she killed herself.
Lol, that part made me laugh. Actually most of Sieran’s dialogue makes me smile. It’s funny, and her voice actress is really good (best in this game IMO).
As far as I am concerned all the Orders Mentors are pretty useless in a real fight, I seem to end up being their ‘mentor’ and saving their lives. Usually we both lose because they are so bad in a tough fight. Bring back the Bots that we could select in the Guild Wars original so that a player could have at least the chance of finishing their storyline.
That goes for every NPC in the game, so whatever. Looks like you’d be better at home playing Guild Wars 1…
Yeah, the Ebonhawke staff is really nice, but it’s the only cool looking staff I’ve seen in this game. Like why can’t there be elemental versions for staves. Like a staff in a lightning theme, a fire theme, water, earth, chaos (mesmer) en darkness (necromancer).
I’ve been playing tons every day, since headstart, and not even getting close to bored yet. I think the problem is on your side… not the game’s.
Have been playing a few 100 hours on my Elementalist, getting max gear, completing all dungeons, finishing map completion. Next will be getting level 80’s of the other classes and races and get max gear for them. Then I might consider shooting for a Legendary. By that time an expansion will probably be out giving me even more to do. I’ll be playing this game for a few 1000 hours for sure.
I have a nice list of friends of people who I have run dungeons with. There’s also a few people on the list that I’ve helped with stuff, and then there’s some real life friends.
Rurik Mode
Run ahead and aggro all the things in a hotheaded rage, leading to your party fail their objective and refuse to res. Whilst active your aggro range is increased 100% and even passive mobs will want a piece.
This should be a shout:
“As a boy I spent much times in these lands…”
That, or the developers they release the originals or something. I don’t know
if it’s included, but sometimes when you do a Vista, the music is so nice, like
in the Grove. I wouldn’t want to lose that.
The vistas keep their original sound even with custom playlists on.
Forgal’s death was pretty well done, it seemed fitting for him to sacrifice himself. But still he was an awesome character I’d love to have kept him in the story instead.=p
I think you’re meant to give up your dungeon run when you get to her. But people find exploits to finish the run anyway. I think ArenaNet should make this boss harder so people can’t kill her anymore.
It would indeed be nice if Commander status could only be obtained through WvWvW badges, rather than spending 100G. Or maybe the gold+the badges.
But still it should be turned off in PvE, because it’s just unnecessary.
Ok, so I tend to leave mails sitting in my inbox (call me lazy, whatever).
Over the time playing GW2 I’ve been having trouble receiving mails sometimes (keyword: sometimes). Sometimes mails got sent to me got through just fine, other times the person sending me mail got an error and wasn’t able to, or told me they sent me something but I just never received it. Well we assumed it was just bugged, because my mail box wasn’t even that full really.
So today I finally decided to clean up some of my mailbox. After clearing it, it got completely flooded with messages. First a whole bunch of Black Lion Trading Company mails sending me Celebration Hats I never ordered. Then I got a huge wave of gold seller mails that didn’t seem to end. Between that I also somehow found mails from people who sent me stuff many weeks ago that I never got before.
Now I wonder, WHAT THE KITTEN happened!?
Problem is you’ll likely spend more time killing them than waiting for the waves to pass by and stop respawning. Or better yet, just keep 1 of em alive.
Most dungeons come down to pretty basic stuff, and if your team can keep to that it should have no problem with most of the paths:
Communication — Ask people for strategies, there’s usually a guy with you who knows what to do. If you know what to do, share strategies with your team. Revive — Always res downed people if you can, unless it’s going to kill yourself. Keeps your team alive and morale up. Trinity — Have yourself and if possible your teammates built in a way you can deal with all 3 types of combat: DPS, defence, support. Don’t focus on just 1 of these. Make sure you can do decent damage at least. Make sure you can take some damage or hold off enemies for a while if needed. Bring utility or traits your whole team benefits from.
Commander is pve is actually useful.. Setting waypoints and orders… Using squad chat and commands for the invasions.. It basically is a classic RAID, now if we only had a UI for squads… It would be the pve equiv of raids.
I’ve never seen that actually happen, either because: The people with Commander title don’t care for taking up the job for actually being a Commander, or there being no need for a Commander in PvE whatsoever.
Any person can link waypoints or inform people about an event that’s going on.
Yes, it is going to be a problem.
Right now there is not many people with the Commander thing yet (keyword: yet), but as the game grows older more and more people will get it for their characters as a way to stand out from the crowd, bragging reasons, etc.
As the number of Commanders grows, our radar with minuscule icons gets overcrowded by the huge Commander icons around the borders.
I’ve already seen it happen by being on a map with 3 Commanders, it just clutters the mini-map.
Do we really need Commander icons show up in PvE, when they were primarely meant to be used for WvWvW?
Why does the best character in the story have to die?
I loved my Vigil mentor Forgal, he was a cool character, the first person that was really well done in my story.
I’m now running another character through the story, this one with the Priory. Sieran is way too awesome to die… I don’t want to lose her.=((
How about we sacrifice Trahearne instead, and let us keep our mentors?^^ Or somehow find a way to bring them back for expansions?
Yeah, I remember getting kicked out of an instance because some weak obscure NPC died completely out of my sight while I’m playing Warrior. That was totally fun.

Praying to the RNG gods for insane luck is the exact opposite of “fun & exciting”, nor does it show off any player’s skill whatsoever.
I thought of tokens from all 8 dungeons as a way to buy a precursor as well. It seems like the best solution (if they are considering a change to the system). It would promote dungeons beyond getting an armour set, and show off more of a player’s skill and dedication than any amount of RNG will ever do.
dancing implies movement, you don’t move when you change attunement, you’re not dancing. it’s not descriptive of what you’re doing at all. call it attunement rotations. call it attunement cycling. call it attunement swapping (!!!)
just don’t call it attunement dancing because it sounds terrible and it makes people who say it look sophmorish.
You are moving when you change attunement: You move to another element. Well yeah, not physically, but still. And to be honest, what does it matter what people call it? Do their words hurt you? Are they killing your family? Are they stealing your belongings?
No… I don’t think so. Time to move on…
