8/10. Looks pretty cool. Not really anything about that look that I could see as bad.
My sylvari Thief, my new main (R.I.P. Elementalist)
Nevertheless, it’s not hard, it’s just tedious and boring.
To you it is. To me it isn’t.
Seriously? A boss that randomly downs you (not talking about the ring attack) is a well thought-out challenging encounter to you?
It never randomly downs you.
I’m new to Ranger, and I really love the 2 wolf pets (sylvan and arctic), is it bad to keep using these 2 once I start doing dungeons?
I like the Crucible of Eternity set.
Solo’ing the Queen’s Champions with a level 80 character is quite easy. Not sure how it’d be to do it on a level 10 character. You’ll most likely have to play it a lot safer, and stay much more at range.
Is your pet on Guard or Avoid Combat? I have no issue with it auto attacking when it is set to Guard.
Aha, that’s it. Must have set it to avoid some time ago to see what it did, and never changed it back. I’m so noob at Ranger.^^
Zerkers are actually capable of having fun, you know.
Not saying they don’t, I mean that I don’t see the rate at which stuff is killed as a measure for success. That’s just my opinion.
The only measure of success in this game is the speed at which you do it, because actually completing pve content is guaranteed because of how easy it is. Therefore, zerker gear is a better choice for pve. Therefore, picking something other than zerker is a poor choice. Making good choices about your gear is part of being a good player.
That’s your definition of success. I’d say as long as you’re enjoying playing the game you’re doing good. I’d join a party of terribly skilled players wearing PVT gear that are actually fun to play with over a party with stuck up Berserkers obsessed with maximising efficiency any day of the week.
Being terrible and refusing to improve is more selfish. Also stack in corner > DPS > Dodge is not hard pve content.
Why do you assume players who don’t wear Berserker gear are refusing to improve? Even so, what does gear have to do with player skill anyway? What makes a player in Berserker gear better than a player in PVT gear, skillwise?
Last time I played dungeon PUGs, most fights weren’t just ‘stand in corner and DPS’, but yeah…
If someone lacks the skill to do gw2 dungeons they should just quit playing. This game’s PvE has the lowest skill cap of any MMO’s PvE on the market. If you can’t look at a mob’s animation and dodge I question how you operate a motor vehicle or prepare dinner without burning your house down.
So, they should quit playing because they would slow down your dungeon run by a few minutes? That’s a pretty selfish attitude.
Also, I don’t know which MMOs you have played, but the few others I’ve played were way, way easier than Guild Wars 2.
There could be no reward for it at all, and I’d be fine with it. In my opinion it’s the content that matters, not the reward.
In the norn story-line, The Semifinals (16), during the fight against Spatha Greatblade, she stopped attacking me when she dropped below the 75%.
We never claimed they’re inferior, I just said they’re bad and selfish players because they’re using gear that isn’t contributing as much to a dungeon run as zerk [selfish] and increasing their own defensive stats because they need it as a crutch despite all of the content in the game being easy [bad].
What if, maybe, they aren’t skilled enough to go with full Berserker gear and keep themselves alive? I’d rather have a player who lacks the skill to survive in glass-cannon gear to go in defensive gear and play a more defensive role than for them to stick to glass-cannon gear and go downed in every fight.
Where’s the question?
Is it possible to make my pet automatically start attacking anything that I’m attacking without having to F1 every time? It’s kinda tiring, and easy to forget when fighting groups of weaker stuffs.
There’s a few nice mace skins.
Pre-nerf the fight took too long, post-nerf it’s too short.xD
I’d watch it.

When you see the red circles appear, count to 2, then dodge if you aren’t in a safe zone yet.
You’d still have to walk back and entering would still require a ticket.
Which takes a minute or so, but no actual punishment.
Why is losing time not considered a punishment? Time’s actually pretty valuable, unless you have like all day to play a game.
Abominations only raise frenzy stacks if they manage to hit something. Just kite him around, or dodge his attacks to prevent him from powering up.
Anything that goes into downed state is selfish, too. Unfortunately, it’s most often the players in Berserker gear who do go down the most…
aggro tends to concentrate on berserker players in pvt teams because they are the only ones dealing damage, this does not happen in full zerk teams though. also I’ll take someone downing every once in a while over you autoattacking at range with pvt gear
Right, because anyone not wearing berserker gear is automatically in PVT gear, doing auto-attack at range only.
I’m playing in Berserker gear as well, but I don’t see players wearing… PVT, or any other combination other than MF as inferior to me. Just because you wear Berserker gear doesn’t mean you’re anything special, great or being above players who choose not to.
Most likely cultural armour, which is only cosmetic stuff.
Tier 1 is the cheapest, while tier 3 is the most expensive set.
I’d rather just have revival upon failing a fight.
So basically no punishment for failing?
You’d still have to walk back and entering would still require a ticket.
I’m sure they’ll bring out another unlimited tool some time; I bet they made plenty of money selling those. Would be silly not to put them on sale again some time later.
I sell white, blue and green to the merchant, and salvage yellows.
Is it weird that I prefer the Champion dagger skins over the hammers and greatsword skins?
Also, it’s just an optional mini-game, it’s not like it’s required for anything.
Playing Guild Wars 2 isn’t required for anything either, but we do that because we wish to be entertained and have fun, right? Everything in the game is optional. You don’t need to gear up, you don’t even need to level up, it’s optional if you just wish to stay in a city and talk to people or play the Trading Post simulator. You may not care about the achievements as a collection, but please, try see it from the eyes of someone who does. I see the achievements as my personal collection, it’s something I like to do in the game. It’s not like you or anyone but me will be able to see (at least for the time being) what achievements I have, besides a bare few that grants visible rewards, e.g., a title we can put on, or a miniature we can summon. Yes, it’s optional, it’s not forced, but is also severely frustrating to feel so pressured for time due to the fact that it is implemented as temporary content that goes away, combined with certain achievements being very hard to accomplish. Queens Gauntlet has been stated to be something that will re-appear in the future, but will the same achievements be there? Potentially not, as that has not been clarified. If they do re-appear with the same achievements, I’m already less stressed, if not, the pressure’s still on.
By optional I mean anything that doesn’t advance your character, like getting stronger, seeing new story content etc.
If you’re the achievement hunter you claim to be, then be prepared to work for your achievements. I mean, that’s why they’re called achievements, right?
I just do a few different dungeon paths on a day. A few runs easily give you 5 gold or something. Sure, it isn’t the fastest or most efficient, but it’s pretty fun, and isn’t very repetitive like many of the better methods.
I’m not talking about Liadri because I didn’t made it so far because Pirates require zerg gear (not enought time in different gears). I’m talking about kittentonload of bugs, Trials Candidate impossible to do on gold at T3, other professions are much less efficient here.
C’mon! this kitten is a mini-game, not an uber mission about rescuing world it should be possible for a good players with a decent gear not for zergs from top 100.
The pirates don’t require “zerg” gear at all. I made it with a set of balanced gear on my Thief. Also, it’s just an optional mini-game, it’s not like it’s required for anything.
I made a video on how to kill them as a Thief: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw0FyF3Elh4&hd=1
If you can’t reach the safe zones due to cripple or just being slow, then count to 2, then dodge to avoid getting hit by the Shadowfall AoE. You can cripple/immobilise her if you find it hard to keep her off you. Cosmic Rifts will pull a while after they spawned on the field, if you can see one spawn, you generally get enough time to get there and kill it before it pulls. If you don’t kill it before it pulls, make sure there aren’t any shadows between you and the rift, or else it’ll pull you into a shadow.
If you have trouble with the cripple, you should try a Sigil of Purity on your weapons (chance to remove a condition on hit).
You can talk to the Fight Manager NPC to battle any previous opponents.
Her conditions didn’t bother me so much because I have Sigils of Purity on my pistols.
Post process disabling might be cheap, blinding the screen is a cheap trick to create false difficulty as well. But I just lowered pretty much all of my graphics during that fight because it gave me horrible FPS while recording.
Have you tried using a Scepter?
Sometimes some of the mines are invisible too until you literally stand on them.
I don’t want the purple glow on my Fellblade. The cloud effect from the GW1 version is really.
Yeah, it kept giving me a server error or something. Looks like this one survived.^^
Woah, forums just made me post this thing like 5×. Please someone remove the clone threads.=/
I made videos of all the fights in the Queen’s Gauntlet arena, sorted by tier. I also added a short tip/hint/trick/strategy in an annotation at the start of every battle. Hopefully this will be helpful to some who are struggling.
As for Liadra, the best advice I can give is to stay calm, and to look for the patterns for portal appearances, vision spawns and AoE fields. Also, turn off post processing to disable the blinding effect.
Just pick up meat until you have 3 stacks on you, then rush the hell out on Chomper. Strugar should be dead easy once Chomper is dead.
Pay attention to her arm movements. It’ll tell you when she’s about to cast her surekill spell. Just don’t wait too long before dodging because it’s instant as soon as she finishes her animation. Also, it’s unblockable, so you have to use evasion/invulnerable skills.
I’m pretty sure she hits through dodge. I tried it a few times, but it always downed me regardless. Just use the floor portals, much easier and safer.
If you need more dps, I recommend Seaweed Salad instead of the endurance food. 10% damage while moving makes a big difference.
Thanks, will try that. Although only +10% is still gonna be tight.
I’m trying to get this done… tried Mesmer and Elementalist. I last about 10 seconds. When I get a crystal to spawn I seem to be perma knocked down with no way to get up. Is this the “orb bug” people speak of, or am I doing something wrong? Currently this looks to be impossible for me – can’t see any way of not being perma stunned long enough to spawn three crystals.
Tried a different arena, or server?
Since I had problems taking her out within the limit I got myself a set of full Berserker gear and weapons, but I’m still having troubles beating her within the time limit. I usually clear phase 1 around the 1 minute mark, and then I can take her down to about 1/8thHP, using dual pistols in phase 2. Anything that could possibly help to get her down within a reasonable amount of time?
I’m having a pretty hard time of this has a thief. I can usually dodge the circles enough, though it gets a lot more difficult once I have to dodge the incoming visions too.
The thing that’s making me make more mistakes though is the constant damage from the Necrotic Grasps. I just don’t have any good way to heal that damage. No healing over time, and the heals tend to be a bit more detrimental to beating her. (Evading backwards. Stealth stops the visions from following, but Liadri can keep tagging with her projectiles.
This is a really unforgiving fight. I think I’ll have to really change things up to a more bunker style or something to just live through the first phase.
The Necrotic Grasps are easy to dodge by just strafing left and right.
I’m having a lot of trouble killing her before time runs out. Previously I ran Carrion + full Berserk jewelry, and I couldn’t get her below 1/4HP before time was up. Am now going to try with full Berserker gear…
5th fight and now there’s like 4 oozes remaining from the guy before me who was too slow with his kill…
That’s ticket 4 wasted on another bugged run…
