I’ll remember the dungeon and the awesome final boss encounter.
I’m a bit confused by your question. How did you level in the first place?
Definitely referring to dungeons/fractals. Would I really ask how to solo mobs in open world zones? Really?
Get at least full exotic gear with the stats you want on your character, and run some dungeon PUGs to learn the basics.
Well, you could if you both were experienced with the dungeon and game mechanics itself. It’s just not really worth it, unless you’re purely doing it for the challenge.
Actually.. being forced to live in a stale world that never changes it’s entire lifespan of 5+ or more MMORPG years or needs a major expansion to see any change that is still kinda… eh.. leaving most of the world the exact same is bad. I’ve played far to many MMORPG’s were older sections became relics all the way back to EQ with Kunark and WoW with the Burning Crusade section where nobody wanted to do it. They were even bitter about having to do this out dated and unfun content with bad gear stats for the new styles.

This is a positive thing and I’m happy for it but I do hope to see less one offs like the Karka event even though it was really cool. The lag, loads of karka killing due to scaling, and being booted never to get back in to see it on your own server was just.. ya… That part sucked and they need to let your character stay there for 5 minutes to give a shot to get back in not just boot you asap.
Anyways…. a living ever changing world is a very fun thing and I look forward to it.
Well, they could have done it like RuneScape, where there’s content added every 1-3 weeks. From new quests to new areas to new items. Making the world grow, sometimes making old forgotten places popular again, but all with permanent content.
I run the new dungeon to learn playing my fresh level 80 Mesmer, to get some money to upgrade her gear, and hey, if I’m lucky enough to find a Jetpack, that’s awesome. Of course I hope to find one, but I don’t expect to. I’m not setting myself up for disappointment if I don’t find one before the dungeon is gone.
I used 8 skills on my GW1 character. I use 10 skills on my GW2 character (sometimes more when I need to switch skills to fit the situation). GW2 is better.
I hope there’ll be a dungeon.
well no other emotes besides the dances are for sale even.
They will be, I can guarantee you that. Whoever thinks they’ll add any free emotes in the future is way too naive.
Was to be expected.
I’m just missing the old GW1 emotes. Oh well, it’s not a big deal, I’m just not interested in buying them when they came free in GW1.
Various dances did NOT come free with Guild Wars 1. You got your one dance, and that was it. If you bought the collectors edition, you got a special dance (at least the Factions and Night Fall one). There were no other free dances.
Guild Wars 2 comes with a free dance for your character and Guild Wars 1 came with a free dance for your character. There were no options besides collectors edition dances beyond that.
I’m talking about emotes in general.
They said they originally planned on making voice mail, but then decided not to.
Was to be expected.

The best solution is to place an MF slot on every gear like we have infusion slots. Then change every current MF armour to something that replaces MF with another stat.
Curious to see what’s gonna happen to Southsun. Haven’t returned to that place after the one-time event on release. Too little enemy variety, and the karka are way too powerful for the kittens that they drop.
In the case of the Oozes: If you play Thief, you can just teleport away, or roll for initiative. Playing Elementalist use teleport or Mist Form. Mesmer can use distortion. Guardian can use blocks etc etc.
Stunbreakers, stability and projectile reflects are your friends.=P
Some fun ideas in here, we’re also actively discussing ways on how we’d best like to alleviate having to make players choose between having better stats, or using magic find. It’s not a choice that’s great for game play and there isn’t really anything that fun about it, even more so when group composition is taken into account. Ideally we’d also like to keep the ability to slowly build your magic find over time, but doing this at the cost of using better stats isn’t the right way to do that.
No ETA on any changes here, just want to point out we agree there is an issue here that goes against what we want Gw2 to be, and is something we want to address.
Well, that’s great to hear.
I completely agree that MF doesn’t belong in a group setting (unless everyone in the group is fine with it). Statistically MF is worse than any other gear, and there’s 0% reason to use MF gear in a group setting besides the selfish “I want more loots” argument.
Players are extremely creative when it comes to finding ways to not play the game while playing the game.=P
When making a group just state you’re a level 35 looking for a party to do AC. Other people on their lower level alts will often join. At least that’s what I did on my Mesmer, haven’t had problems with my character being low level.
If they remove some of the parts, like the drilling and/or rescuing prisoners.
Has been an issue since first Beta weekend.
That storm guy is one of the worst encounters in the story. It’s a total disgrace. Does nothing but spam stun, barely does any damage, and has way too much HP.
Haven’t really played Ranger, but been playing Thief quite a lot recently (PvE only).
Thief’s a pretty easy profession to play that’ll give you a ton of mobility and survives easily by using stealth and dodges. It’s fun to play, and can do well at both range and melee combat. Biggest weakness would be somewhat limited party support I guess, it does have some, but not to the extent of what classes like Guardian and Elementalist have. Overall, it’s a fun profession to play if you like having mobility, with good survival and damage.
Btw, instead of clicking, use mouse keys instead. The + key counts as a double click, would have saved you half the total amount of clicks.
Happens to me sometimes too. Not very often, but still…
Best server would be one on gw2lfg.com.
Never thought of using the Venom elite, I stuck to the useless Dagger Storm that I didn’t end up using in my try.xD This makes me want to try again. You made it look easy in your video.=p
Also, is it easier to take out the Berserker first? Because when I tried the bosses, I only focused on the Firestorm guy…
Nice, I tried it on my Thief, but I either kept getting knocked off the edge, or knocked into a fire that killed me, lol.
Two questions:
1) Does the blank mp3 file at the beginning of the playlist need to be a certain length in order for it to work? Ive tried putting a small 1 second blank mp3 at the beginning of each playlist, but the first song is always the same.
2) Any way to have a custom ambient playlist, but the default main menu playlist?
1. I don’t use this in my own playlists, but I’ve tested it before, and it used to work with a 1 second audio file. I’ve just tested the MainMenu with the blank audio file trick, and can’t seem to get it to work now, so I don’t know what the problem is with it. My guess is that the way it reads the files has been changed to always play them in a set order. You could try out the other playlists, like Ambient, to see if you can get it to work there.
2. You’ll have to make a custom MainMenu playlist with the default tracks.
Thanks guys/gals.
Any other paths in other dungeons that are particularly good? I always thought TA looked fun, maybe some of the others as well (HotW?).
TA story is fun, except if your party wipes and have to run for 5 minutes because there’s like only 1 waypoint…
HotW is okay, but kinda long. It’s got a few OK fights, but don’t see it as particularly interesting. In explorable, path 1 is kinda fun, but I would avoid the other 2 paths unless you enjoy underwater bosses that take 15 minutes to kill.
It’s not bugged. The final wave can be partially avoided but it will always damage you to some degree unless your standing right next to the Berserker because it’s not a wave it’s a continuos wave that radiates outwards and covers most of the battlefield. It does not have a crest. It’s just one big disc.
The devs themselves said the wave is only supposed to hit jumping players, so yes, it is bugged…
Well, depends on your definition of fun… but I think it’s pretty cool (except the final part). Takes around 40 minutes in an average PUG I’d say…
Looking forward to unlimited sickle and axe.
They look nice, but don’t really match with anything, which sucks.
Yeah, that’s another one. Sometimes he randomly knocks back when he teleports to you.
You can jump over that one too. I do it pretty regularly. I must admit that sometimes I feel like I get hit when I successfully jumped over it, though, so maybe there is something fishy happening (like in your video).
In the dev livestream they said you’re to supposed to only get hit by it if you jump (kind of to catch players that are not paying attention to the wave’s graphics). But yeah, it’s really annoying to get hit by this thing out of nowhere.

Or you could just buy one off the TP. No need to do dungeons or farm WvWvW.
Sieran was the best.
I tried that, got completely plastered by the 4 Veterans in the first room. It’s not, in it’s current state, soloable.
I’ve been soloing it today, but can’t beat the final boss…
What you call a bug, I call a feature….ie saves you the run back and a reset on the boss.
The boss still resets.
And no, it would be way better to just place a waypoint next to the boss fight since people can’t res mid-combat anymore. Then people still get time to repair gear, change weapons/skills and discuss a strategy, but without the long walk.
Bit too many trash mobs, but their HP is nice, so it’s not too bad.
Final boss stage 2 is too easy if you kill the Berserker first. It basically makes the field smaller, but the boss itself doesn’t do enough damage to be threatening. At least the Berserker has a strong attack that can down a player caught off-guard (fire stomp). The Firestorm should either do more damage with his AoE, or get his own killer attack like the Berserker has.
Okay. That’s good to know. Some dude in chat told me that story mode closed after you passes the level. Is the dungeon story independent the main quest?
Yeah, the dungeon stories focus on the members of Destiny’s Edge.
Don’t like dailes: Don’t do them.
I like the dailies, because they’re easy experience for levelling a new character with.
Level 30 minimum for Ascalonian Catacombs story-mode, level 35 for Explorable mode.
Story mode should be very do-able at level 30 in a somewhat decent team, but make sure to have your gear up to date (level 25+ greens).
Explorable at level 35… let’s just say, won’t be a pretty experience, especially not if it’s going to be your first time…
They are only easier because you’ve done them multiple times already. Try doing this dungeon 5x a day (for all 5 char slots) for the next few days, then tell me how bored you are of the now-cute-then-cheesy box dodge thingy.
Still miles better than the many HP sponges that can be afk’d while on auto-attack that we have in current dungeons. Also, I don’t do the same dungeon 5 times a day. Once a day is just fine, and if it gets boring, once every few days.
Flame and Frost has been pretty much OK (except for the Stereoscopes), and the new dungeon is really good.
When they had their knockback they were even worse, but I still hate the constant noise that they make.
ANet unfortunately decided to just make them easier. This solution did nothing but take the only interesting part about this task, and change it into a mind numbing grind.
A few dodges and circle strafing to avoid a knockback while hitting a stationary object that does the same thing over again isn’t challenging anyway. It’s boring and tedious.
This is a great temporary dungeon. If this were to be made permanent, it’ll be waaaay too easy.
Many current dungeons are easier than this one. Difficulty-wise it falls somewhere in the middle.
Bit too many trash mobs, but at least their HP wasn’t bad. And the bosses were awesome.
ANet has no plans on making GW2 anything but a short term game with high turnover, they could care less about keeping players long term. Just get em into the cash shop, get them to bust out their wallets, then try to get em back with the next temp content, what you do in between isn’t their concern.
People stop playing → people losing ingame friends → even less people playing → results in smaller player base for the next patch → lower sales next patch
So no, I’m pretty sure they’d want people to keep playing.
