I don’t farm dungeons, but I’ve ran plenty of CoE, and I can’t even remember the last time I’ve had a Charged Lodestone drop, if I even ever had one drop for me.

Look at AC. Bosses got new mechanics, monsters have less health and I think that making players carry skills against CC is a good thing.
And what changed ? Almost nothing : everything is still skipped, and players try to exploit bosses.
Oh and because players aren’t bothering to try to understand the new mechanics, they complain that some bosses cannot be beaten without exploiting.

Because the mobs got even more knockbacks than they had before while dropping nothing more or better than before the patch.
I haven’t played for a few weeks, but I can’t remember groups exploiting the boss in path 1. Every PUG I’ve joined did it the normal way just fine.
Boss on path 2 bugs itself out by staying stunned under the traps. Other than that, I haven’t seen groups actively exploiting this one.
Boss on path 3 is exploited for 2 main reasons:
-Too easy to exploit. There’s like 3 different spots you can lure him to where the rocks won’t hit the players.
-The NPC isn’t good enough for what it needs to do. It either dies too fast, or it’s too slow to bring up the shield, resulting in dead players all over the place.

While I don’t agree with exploits (or skipping for that matter, although they’re two different things) I can see why people use them in some cases:

-A lot of the dungeons have way too many useless trash mobs that just take too long to kill, can in some cases be dangerous, while offering very little rewards to the players.
-A fair amount of mobs in dungeons aren’t fun to fight because they constantly spam knockbacks/knockdowns/stuns/fears. Yeah, there’s skills to counter these abilities, but they are on cooldown more than the enemies will spam their CC abilities.
-Too many boss monsters are boring fights that only take long because they have a ton of HP. These bosses take little to no skill to beat, but just take too long.

To come to a conclusion: Stuff in dungeons isn’t worth fighting the real way due to low rewards and much higher risks on content that takes much longer to beat than easy open world content. Exploiting speeds up the rate at which dungeons can be beat to up their reward vs time ratio (and generally lowers the risks as well), to bring them more up to par to open world content.

What needs to happen is to make the system more solid to make exploits a lot less easy to pull off (although I can imagine this being quite difficult to fix). The harder it is to exploit, the less people will try it. Up the dungeon rewards to match the time + risks vs. rewards ratio (and/or lower open world rewards). Have less annoying mobs that use constant CC spam on players and have less HP. Have bosses with more interesting mechanics.

If you have trouble seeing his pull, get your stunbreakers and use them as soon as you get pulled. If your group is good enough you can simply ignore adds and focus Kholer down.

I fought him in a PUG earlier, and I wouldn’t agree. While it’s not the worst fight I’ve seen, it’s not great either, and it’s far (like, really far) from being the best boss in the game. I’d give the fight a 5/10.

I just solo’d him on my first try.

-Pick up a Mine detector
-Use skill #1 to scan nearby mines, this reveals what type they are (bomb, poison, cantrips)
-Use skill #2/3/4 on the correct mines to disable them (they turn green).
-Lure Canach over a disabled mine to hit him.

-Whenever you see him standing still, watch the chat for a message. If it says he’s about to detonate all mines, look for a safe spot, try to time a dodge, or make sure your HP is high enough to survive one explosion.

-Bringing utility that grants stability or stun breaks helps to counter his knockback attack.

Just did both story and explorable.

Story was really boring. Mindnumbingly boring even. Luckily it only lasted 10 minutes or so.
Explorable was OK. Nothing great, but it was OK for another 10 minute fight. Nothing memorable or something I’d like to do again, though.

Compared to the awesome Molten Weapons Facility this was a huge disappointment.

I’ve been PUGing dungeons on my Thief just fine.
I even PUG’d the Molten Weapons Facility on my level 10 Ranger without complaints from the team.

Or maybe I’m just lucky.xD

It clearly states there that the MainMenu & BossBattle playlists never randomise. The others do and the silent sound clip works for them.

That explains it then. When I made this guide, the MainMenu playlist would randomise using the trick, but I suppose they changed that after the game’s launch.

I’d love a solo dungeon, but yeah, it’s probably going to be balanced around people that have trouble killing a generic veteran enemy in the open world in a 1 on 1 fight. Which is going to make it suck most likely.
I liked how the Molten Weapons Facility was made for a party of 5 players, but anyone with enough time and skill could still solo their way through it. That way, both the teamplayer and the solo guy gets their way.

Nope, you didn’t read it right. There will be a solo instance AND a group dungeon (which will be harder). You know, pretty much like your personal story had solo instances and dungeons (granted, you only had to do one of them to complete the personal story).
I see nothing wrong with addressing to all sorts of players.

If you don’t like the solo instance, go play the harder, multiplayer version of it.

Don’t complain about RNG messing you up. You chose to pay real money to gamble for ingame stuff and you lost. With your choice to dump $40 onto gems you’ve also supported the current RNG business model so they can continue doing this.

Them making profit from people like you buying RNG tickets with real money is the only message they get from you. Don’t think they care for you losing in the gamble that you, yourself, chose to participate in.

I do like the updates to the area, but I feel I still have no real reason or desire to hang out in Southsun apart from checking on the new stuffs. I think the problem’s got to do with the area having no world boss or dungeon entrance. It’s just out of the way, nowhere close to activities I like.

It’s RNG.

I doubt they will release an expansion less than 1 year after game’s launch, but maybe at the end of this year, or first half 2014.

Not the best, but if you do world bosses you get a guaranteed rare from the daily boss chest (each boss gives 1 chest per account every day) plus a good chance for another 1 or 2 rares from the regular chest. And most bosses can be done in a few minutes if you make it in time.
Other than that, running dungeons is fast money (Citadel of Flames path 1 especially).

There’s really no such thing as prestige in Guild Wars 2 for me. Maybe with the sole exception of the Dungeon Master title, but even that doesn’t show off that much.

Anything that can be bought with money is not prestigious to me.
Anything that can be obtained through just grinding away is not prestigious to me.
Anything that can be obtained through luck only is not prestigious to me.

And sadly that sums up about 99% of the ‘achievements’ or high-end stuff to aim for in the game.=/

Not necessarily. Sometimes people may pick titles for how cool they sound (Flameseeker, for example) or if it matches their character (human Guardian with Champion of the Gods, for example).

Explore the open world. You can’t rely on story-mode only to level up.

In the description it says double-click to bind the item to account. Does this mean permanent bank access is available on any character on that account? If so, I assume it’s not accessed by clicking the item (because then it would only go on 1 character)?

Dungeons were designed for organised groups, at least that’s what they were advertised as even before game launch. Turned out they’re easy to do in any random group with somewhat decent players. If that’s still too difficult for you, there’s a huge overworld for you to play in.

GW1 male Mesmer armour sucked so much. GW2 is way better for male casters.

How about extremely hard content that that can be done in a moderate amount of time *? I don’t understand why people insist on hard content taking a long time, longer =/= harder. Kind of like a time attack or defense type mission, where you can get overloaded easily. Kind of like the gw1 beyond hardmode missions in Cantha were more challenging, but didn’t actually take long to do if you didn’t lose.

*If done with few mistakes, obviously doing badly will make it take longer.

Defend Lion’s Arch with henchmen + heroes before the nerf was pretty difficult too, and didn’t take hours. That was a ~20 minute or so mission if I remember correctly.

And no waypoints/checkpoints and armor repair.

Personally, I’d love this, I’d even pay arena net for a DLC including this.

Grenth phase 1 is pretty cool, but phase 2 drags on for way too long, and just isn’t interesting.

I’m a WvW noob, but interested in playing more of it. I’ve tried it a few times before, but it seems to take a long time to find anything to do or to find a group that’s doing something.
So, as a solo player, what can I do in WvW that’s fun? What kind of things can I do that are useful besides following a zerg? Which of the 4 maps should I join when I go to WvW?

Currently I have 4 maxed out characters with full exotics (Elementalist, Guardian, Thief and Mesmer). They’re all kinda built around a balance between survival and damage, not really excelling in anything, not sucking at anything either.

Buy all weapon types your Ranger can use, and unlock every skill on them. Read the skill tooltips and see which 2 sets you like best.
Go charm some pets, and choose whichever you find cutest (lol). Well, at higher level you’ll want to look at what your pet is actually able to do and what stats they have, but at low levels it shouldn’t matter really.
At level 5+ have a look at your utilities and start unlocking the ones that look good to you.

tldr: Just play your Ranger. Read tooltips, and do whatever looks most fun to you.

Just had a 3rd Tonic Recipe drop, but still haven’t seen a mini or jetpack drop yet after ~40 runs or something.

All can be done solo except the final step, wich is a dungeon Keep in mind that one takes roughly 2 hours depending on the team.

2 Hours would be a worst case scenario. In a somewhat decent group, or with people who have done it before, you should be able to do it in ~1 hour.

Did a run on my level 10 Ranger earlier, and ended up solo’ing the last 1/5th of the final boss (phase 1).xD We also had a level 21 Necro in the party.

Never happened to me, but there’s absolutely no reason to kick anyone at the end of a dungeon, right before the reward. Anyone who does so deserves a permanent ban.

No, I quite like it because of the loots. If I had one reason to hate it, it’d be because of the huge amount of whining there is in chat every time a group ends up in that fractal.

Meanwhile plenty more serious issues with dungeons still remain unfixed…

Took me 28 on my guard for the solo and I was almost falling asleep, can’t imagine how it must of been doing it for 48 minutes, your going to need glasses due to eye straining if you keep that up.

Have been doing a bunch of runs (didn’t bother counting) and just got my 2nd tonic, but no miniature or jetpack yet. Haven’t even seen them drop for others so far.

Tried and failed at it last weekend, but this time I knew of Enraged, lol. The fight itself is pretty doable difficulty-wise, but it took so long. About 45 minutes for the full version.xD

Some of them are kinda hard to spot, even when checking a site for locations.

This also happens in the Temple of Grenth event when the champ wraith spawns. Not only players die but also Jonez is dead fast.

I did that 2 days ago with some other people. The NPC died in like 10 seconds, lol.
