How deal with this…kinda…em …build as ele: static aura + team does aoe cleave = thief dead.

Ok mender amulet + rune of scrapper + Sigil blood/Sigil of Leeching aaaaaand signet of stone works even better…that extra imobilize in air overload is nasty!

Hi all

I had little funny idea. If stack bonus % to healing, can get similar effect as old celestial with paladin amulet? So I stacked rune of monk with Sigil of Transference to that 20% bonus. After some testing it seems that bonus from rune works but not from sigil. Same thing with Sigil of Benevolence.

And by the way tempest build on d/d on paladin it’s quite fun. Right know I am also looking how to improve mender amulet in similar way – how to get that extra toughness.

I like this idea!

On one hand elementalist could get celestial amulet back that was designed for them and allowed them to do damage in pvp and use better builds then d/f cleric nonsense.

On the other hand I am afraid that devs couldn’t handle decision what class can use what…Just look with mencenary amulet. Sure they nerfed chrono but also any other class that was ok but not overperforming with it.

Eh another proof that nobody from balance team reads profession forums…and any other kind of player feedback…I just waiting when they will remove cleric amulet and buff sceptre dps on my ele so it will be removed from pvp completely.

1. Anet has different balance understanding then probably most of our community have. They mostly don’t care about our 85% feedback on professions forums. Just try to find any response there… I can assume only that mostly they want meta to be dynamic and avoid domination extreme tanky builds that provide mostly → boring matches. To do the balance they locked professions in traits and builds that wouldn’t hurt pve balance that are not used there like, for example: trait-line defence for warriors.

2. Ele is hard as hell to balance. If they nerf current traits (water-earth-tempest) they will remove ele from pvp. Ele on berserker amulet is just one shoted by thief. They can’t buff damage because ele use same dps traits in pve and would make other classes just less attractive for raids.

3.I think that Anet want’s Ele to stay these way (auramancer d/f tempest build) and they think that they will add more possible builds with new elite spec’s. These way people even more will have to buy new expansions.

4. If I personally could do the balance I wouldn’t touch current traits (water-earth) and tempest. Instead I would buff or re-work some unused traits in fire, air that aren’t popular in pve that could help stay alive ele on paladin amulet at least.

s/w and Auramancer build

So idea s/w auramancer came to me when i was blasted to deep space by ragezerker in seconds during team fight running d/f build. I started asking myself ,,How s3 will look like with loads of these berserkers around? How how can i carry this as ele?" So that’s why I look into s/w. I want to do more heals, more support and I am sure that anet will do nothing to bring dps ele’s back in pvp.

I did some testing on my own and I feel that using s/w is like playing necro – do stuff in background, avoiding cleave and move to center of action bursting things (heals, cleave, utility). I don’t have any more time but i will write more fedback on the matter later.

I hope more ppl will test this out:) and drop here some ideas.

I am looking for kinda alternative for d/f auramancer on pvp to be more accurate. Some skills on setup s/w look interesting with some traits like on water 3 heals with 2 regen’s with Cleansing Water. And dust storm (warhorn earth 5) looks usefull for stomping/ressing.

Unhappy/Confused about Matchmaking

Right now I maybe have 1 win per 3-5 matches.

It’s not fun to non-stop lose…
It’s not fun to play unfair matches if you had 55% win ratio in previous season.
It’s not fun to hear that you have to keep losing until your mmr or matchmaking will be balanced.

Game has no point of playing or buying if it don’t give any type of fun or satisfaction for your effort.

For now as casual i can say that playing ranked is waste of time and a lot players will say the same. I love pvp but many ppl will just quit.

Guys i feel a bit terrified with some parts of this changes.

At the end of seasson one i was at the end of diamond divison. In matches i was playing almost all the time with ppl from legendary dvision and now i will propably have to fight legends in amber in seasson 2. At that time i had almost all the time +1/-1 win ratio.

What if i will have the same +1/-1 in sapphire seasson 2. What if old legendary divsion players will have the same win ratio or guys who stoped in sapphire? Can be possible that if you don’t extreamly improve from last seasson you will be stuck in 3th dvision even if you are legendary skill material?

I hope somebody who is smarter then me and better undestands these changes wil prove that this situation is not possible. I am begging for answers.

Is from the patch that everyone (me either) cry and say that everything is bad.

Now I’ve played a little more matches and find out that the game is fine. Not perfect but really good.

Then I’m here to say: ANet, good job!

Remove bunker amulets and celestial was the perfect move for change the “meta” from bunkers to dps, fixing finally a lot of problems. And the fixes on different problematic combinations of traits and skills was really good.

Actually I see a larger variety of classes in spvp. Warriors and thieves finally have a place (the warrior can burst down people really fast, for those that think that is still bad). Scrapper and druids are a little over the top but they’re not totally op. Mesmers can play they’re ds build and also a hybrid build to be more bunkerous.
Is pretty well balanced. Still some fixes and little balances to do but is a really good situation for more or less every class.

The only one that I don’t see often is the Elementalists. The reason isn’t that they’re bed, why they’re Not. The ele is still really good and viable. But then why no one play it? Why every ele cry? The reason is simple: They’re role is Changed. And they’re not good to adapt. After years of celestial hybrid/bunker build, every ele learned to play in a single way and be able to stay both in the second line and in the middle of the fight surviving to everything with the same build, that more or less never changed (only a moment of air fresh, but now they insist to don’t try it again, still if it’s actually really strong).
If they find a new good build to deal damage OR support (not both the things in the same op build like the past age), they will find a role and be happy.

I think that the game is well balanced, just some little fix to do to grant the people more build variety and then there’s nothing bad in that “meta”.

Finally a dps meta. After years of bunkers nd only bunkers I feel really happy.

Fact that you think that your ele friend is doing well post patch is nothing comparing to most of ele’s. You should read Elementalist forum. And he could test his build only on unranked which nobody takes realy seriously. There is no new role for ele becuse there are better classes for that. DPS? Rev can do much more and don’t need to stack might and survive stacking might. Heal? Nope -> druid with ress shout and has better stats, pet, skills to sustain so he tank too. And hey – scrapper can dps hard and tank for quite a while at same time…much longer then ele. Condi? Ask necro how they do now. There are no new roles. Removing Cele removed ele from pvp. If we could get traits reworked or new mechanics for sustain maybe there could be hope…but diamond skin was nerfed…

Mes is horrible now and elite spec is just trash not only in pvp. Shatter build can’t do as much as other classes and thief oneshots them. And as some of us have seen on some tread, devs didn’t knew even how patch will effect that class.

So in conclusion what last patch did? Removed 2 classes from pvp (ele,mes), did nothing for one class (war) and made thiefs back in pvp. That’s really all.

Now when season ended I ended with this…Right after reset at 26.01 I was in middle of match…if i didn’t earned just one pin I could be in legendary.

After being stuck and fighting 5 days in last tier diamond i finally ended with this…. Now i can’t stop tormenting myself with thinking where i would have been and how much frustration could be avoided if matchmaking change wasn’t rushed so much.

I am not rageing just depressed about how pointless was my participation in this season. One rushed upadate can ruin all your effort, hard work and fun in this game, especially if you are solo queuer. Few days ago i was proud that i was in diamond, now i feel like pice garbage.

Now when i read that top ESL players predict no future for ele and mes wchich are my favorite classes and knowing that untested big changes can be droped down in middle of sesson i really don’t see point for myself to play pvp or even rest gw 2 content right now. I am happy that many solo queuers were able reach legend division even against this unfair odds and i hope they will achvie this again in next sessons. I after this 2 months i am burned out and hopelles.

There are many things to love about pvp in GW2.

That said, the dev team (and their managers) have repeatedly demonstrated a lack of … polish?

  • Visibility into changes is poor.
  • There is no Test Server.
  • Feedback from the most informed from the player community is either ignored or glossed over.
  • Balance patches are too infrequent, and the current model of huge changes every 3 months followed by almost no corrections is a flawed model, though admittedly better than what we used to have (which was balance patches every 6 to 9 months).
  • There is no clarity of vision for the various classes and what balance might mean
  • They leave certain classes at the top of the food chain for too long, while others are non-viable (also for too long).
  • They often show a profound lack of understanding about how their classes work and what previous metas have showed us.
  • There is minimal interaction between the devs and the player community. Evan and Josh occasionally post here (thank you guys!) but mostly we’re ignored.
  • There are still problems with matchmaking, leavers/afkers, and pip gain/loss that remain unaddressed (like people disconnecting during the 90 second wait period before the match starting, and the game letting the match proceed in spite of this).

On the community side of things:

  • We have too many players who have vendettas against certain classes and spout non-sense at every turn trying to get their class buffed and their hated classes nerfed.
  • People get frustrated by things, and have knee jerk reactions to over nerf rather than considering the repercussions of the changes that are being proposed. Sometimes there is a fine line between a class/build being OP and it being non-viable.

Just some thoughts from someone who’s played GW2 for most of the past 3.5 years.

I still insyst that that you need to repay players for makeing this change now. Whole idea of mmr change was great but you should’ve wait to the end of season. Right now we have kinda random system who can give to your team anybody in your divison. Now even if you are good player your blocked from reaching higher divisions, because new mmr needs to adjust (to start giving you fair matchups) and probably it might start working at very the end of season.

It would be great if you could give ppl some pins at the end of this season (as little sorry for this guys). For example one pin for every earned division.

There have been no changes to the way MMR matchmaking works. The two changes we made were: Parties use highest division and the division search range expands more to shorten queue times.

Sorry for misunderstanding:) My point is: Still you made a change that started this thread, change was to early and loads of ppl are loseing their hard earned pins because of this… right now…and it’s depresing me.

About matchmaking…

I don’t understand why this change happened now. I think all of us thought that it will happen in break between seasons. Why now if you can test mmr almost month without damaging anybody’s progress during season? Your testing new mmr on us and our pin’s and we have nothing in return…

And that type of match happened to me too…it realy sucks to play ranked right now.

and I’ve seen one thief who oneshoted with Staff 5 3 guys on my team on mid…there were cele bunkers there…

I know staff is better at CC but i feel that it’s only usefull thing about it:/ Power dps is great but those aoe attacks are harder to hit moving targets even with help of CC’s.

Hi i just wanted ask why staff is in pvp meta right now?

I played staff ele long time before HoT and even after. It was fun but as tempest I wasn’t as good as d/f. D/f helped me a lot with those hordes DH in lower ranked ranks, with loads of reflects, earth skill 5 and two auras from weapons and burn condi dps is nice too.

On other hand Staff is better power dps, better cc but worse (I think) sustain and only one blast finisher (if i don’t use after shock).

Now i am in mid ruby rank i want to improve. Should i stay d/f or use Staff for now? I am sorry for my horrible engilish ;< First time posting here on forums.
