…meanwhile in pvp ele still can’t make dps build without committing suicide.
His playstyle won’t work in pvp because of the following reasons.
You can never build the damage he has in pvp. The damage pressure he puts on people is why he has windows where he isn’t being damaged because they are running or down already.
You can never win a pvp match where the objective is to win a point not just run around and hope for people to chase you the entire match.
It’s viable… I mean way he kites not damage …maybe weaver will change something.
Art of pushing far doesn’t require fighting on point nor capping far: you hold in one place at least two enemy players creating easier outnumbers for team on rest of the map. It’s no sense doing this standing on node casue it’s makes you much easier to focus down and eat more damage…You kite and disengage until it’s possible to do 1v1 machup in your favour, win then cap node. I do this all time with bunker druid and I will do it with weaver.

Sadly 2 condi cleanse on hyper speed looks like a target
WP explains Barrier thing:
-You need to destroy it first to start to damage health pool
-Barrier is temporary and needed to sustain
-Scales from vitality and healing power
-Vitality rise max barrier value cap
-Healing power rise amount of barrier gain
-Can’t be boon riped
Oh yea we will gain barrier on core ele from earth. Even Tempest will have it.

kitten mender/sage/magi looks really meta…again…can’t say that little disappointed.
With the vitality Weaver trait we can finally use different amulets that don’t rely on it. Viper, Berserker and all the others won’t be out of the question and this might be the first time we’ll have actual build diversity (amulet-wise) in a very long time.
Weaver still seems like it’ll be heavily reliant on Water traits though.
Viper, berserker probably won’t be optimal even for glass cannon build if new barrier mechanic won’t be something glorious. Berserker for example is only used by war…class with the best base defence stats in game with 2 invulnerability skills (one from trait, one on demand) blocks and great sustain when bursting.
Marauder will be way better right for now as condi is still viable and god knows how viable in upcoming meta. If you want to survive condi you need vitality and cleanses.
I think that for now we are closer to bruiser spec then glass cannon but we will see.
Small note: something tells me that HoT meta will be superior at start of new expac but we will see at Path of Fire first monthly or Unity Tournament.
I also think that bruiser role is thing for new class. Paladin amulet + swords evasion, twist of fate+ add dagger for mobility and teleport/mistform and we got potential to rival bunker druid and scrapper.
But…we are not only one with new elite specs…we can predict things based of 2 year HoT meta and that it.
Many things feel good with Weaver but we don’t know if it’s viable. I hope we can cook up something nasty for soloq…something that doesn’t need premade to shine.

Ele lose to thief you lack stun breakers. You can build to counter and roll thieves as an ele but that you cant counter condi burst and boon corruptions as a core ele. That’s always the issue and will still be the issue in spvp or wvw. Wvw way easier due to more stats variety. Spvp is something to see.. thieves are the last thing you will worry about, Watch out for new Mesmer and Necro bunker heals and condi spikes.
Twist of fate our new stunbreak utility has two charges with 5s cooldown…+1s I-frame…this can ruin few backstabs.
More thoughts of thief issue:
It feels almost that having on weaver focus is disadvantage…loads of skills great for survival (tempest after removal of cleric/cele still was meta in pro-teams)…we want them right now…and…swap earth swap something and then invulnerability? double swap earth?…Attument swaps feel like +cast time on skills…I feel that focus will be bad idea for new spec. Heh mistform starts to be something reliable…
Also 3 skills must be real good to replace shocking aura…the other burststoping thing on demand. We got Tempest Defence trait out there but FA without Aeromancer’s Training…?!
…I am starting to less like new elite spec.
Edit: after Bog preview…if barrier is a thing…does new bolstered elements trait is our elixir S ? Holy moly…

From a PvP PoV, I wonder if Fresh Air Weaver will actually be viable. The reason FA is not PvP-viable now is because FA Ele is Thief food. Even Tempest was pigeonholed into a healbot role because Thieves simply shut out Eles from playing DPS builds. From what little I’ve seen so far, Weaver doesn’t do much to change that…unless Barrier is a significant buff to sustain, especially since you’ll be in true melee range now. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
There are 3 builds in current meta don’t fear thiefs +1 (d/p never should fight 1v1 if not forced)
- War (both gs power/macebow zerkers), scrapper – main reason is that automatic endure pain and elixir s can ruin thief burst and ONE mistake can lead to oneshot specially war. If thief waste time advantageous 2v1 against one of this builds he already lost as he stopped rotating.
- DH – random blocks and 90% of skills are burst, even stupid tactic to lay down all traps on node can kill be accident stupid thief wanting just a decap. DH is just pure thief counter.
So questions are:
Do we get damage enough to at least force thief disengage thief?
Can we stop thief +1?
Mistform is one option, still we have focus (earth 5 on demand only after double swapping earth).
FA rare advantage is that cooldown on main burst doesn’t almost exists but we need damage punish at least thief for +1…
More I think about it…new specs and loads of hyper speed…add dagger offhand mobility, teleport…maybe it’s possible now to compete at roaming with thief…and start +1 him for change.
There are more net builds and diversity in spvp, you might wanna adjust leaderboards to say top 20 players for each build.

I asked the same and it looks like double tap the same element will swap to full element more or less immidiately. If this is the case it´s some relearning reflexes, but it looks great actually doing what so many “Old” eles were missing. complex fast rotation a lot of skills and reactive gameplay. If this is the case it´s high skill, active gameplay and sounds fun. If a high skill is high reward then we get some usual troubles… and complains when the good eles show up … And if nerfed ele will die for average and low tier play and even for higher tiers is possible because when you need to play like a god to get the same results as other classes onle a fistfull eles might remain.
It will be worse…we stay healbot another year…or more

deadeye spec is trash so u dont have to worry there.
i hope so, or after tweking by theoricrafters you get a high mobility class with incredible disengaging capacities capable of ataking you at 1200 range … in pvp can be trash but it can be a wvw full of sniper campers hiden in spots of dificult acces killing any sort of roaming or not big big blob game…. a real nightmare

Looks very intresting. But will be hard if i can´t swap to an element gaining the same skills on 4+5 evry time. E.G. when i swap to air for breaking a block shield i need my unblockable knockdown on 5, regardless which element i currently am in …
Same for magnetic wave. I am dead if i need 3s to use it. the swap, cast when i see rapid fire aiming or a condi bomb striking makes win or die.
In theory you have to double click air to gain all air skills on the bar – we have internal cooldown on all swaps 3s. Maybe it’s possible to make it shorter with arcane traits.

The thing that worries me is whole barrier thing…is it value of damage that is absorbed like 5k damage- 600 barrier? If answer is yes…it’s low…one auto attack will break it…it might be useless mechanic.
Extra vitality sounds perfect to get ele in line with other classes and its low in trait tree!
A lot of stability everywhere…and grand master trait that give diamond skin effect on duration of hyper speed – more good news for FA.
Stances…1s evade doesn’t sound that good but it’s something … more barrier thing…heal looks weak.
I personally glad that i was wrong about main class mechanic…atuments will be crazy….blion times better than garbage overloads.
Overall better then expected..lets see what we can craft for pvp during whole preview thing.
After tempest failure i won jump into hype train…unless i will be sure that i won’t have to be healbot to be viable in ranked.
On one hand is good we have some kind of anet reaction…
On the other….we can’t say many good things about NA scene…but general gw 2 PVP scene feels more empty then ever…

After tempest I won’t pay for spec that works against class main mechanic and leaks suggests that dev think that ele’s (that play more then 2 years) have somehow problem with 4 attunements.
I won’t buy expansion also if ele again won’t gain any damage migration skills on demand…I refuse spec that can’t escape water, earth traits and tank/support amulets.
Not buying new expansion if:
-Still ele must be healbot to exists in ranked gold+
-New legendary armor raid exclusive.
Not hyped – waiting for something worth buying.
Many stopped playing cause same meta for about…I don’t know 2 years?
Population will change when new expansion will be out.
For example if after new expansion I WON’T BE FORCED to play healbot to compete in ranked gold+ I am coming back to play pvp ele.
Till then i stay in BDO…game where wizards are not healbots….and can make people explode.
All that have access to VIP area can mess with arena.
So if you see that something is happening probably somebody from top ranked or winners of monthly are in VIP section.

Meta seems to be in a place where stacking any class just results in a sub par comp, so not really worried about it.
Meta looks like this because class staking was not allowed. Nobody metacrafted for …years in mind that we can stack more then one class so there are out there possible metashifts…
Simply put…meta will change because of class staking…
There were some serious reasons why this was no allowed on paid tournaments and we shouldn’t have it at AT.
Did you tested your build in duels to check how build manages against metabuilds, duel to check what will kill you and what you will kill so you would know what your map rotations are?
still have to play 1 year old meta – checked
still have to play heallbot to do anything – checked
still no legendary armor…or anything new for hardcore pvp’ers – checked
still no competitive anest event’s or any anet support for pvp streams – checked
still we are talking about what anet might do based of their silence and zero dev feedback – checked
Everything looks fine so I am going to ignore completely season 7.
I’ve been playing D/D Ele in ranked and doing just fine so Ele technically doesn’t have just one build. I’ve seen S/F builds running around too. So that makes at least 3.
The times you’ve done fine you could have been replaced by another class who would have had greater impact on the game. By going any of those builds you’re being selfish and relying on your team to carry you.
As mentioned with so many conditions about the elementalist is always stuck taking water and usually earth. Boon nullification and the long cast time of alot of its utilities leave it open to stuns, The ‘effective’ hp pool suddenly becomes a regular low hp pool.
They took away the ele’s ability to bunker for a while, and gave it no alternative role.
That’s funny cuz usually I’m the one getting kills, decapping, and going on sprees.
The build essentially functions as a decapper/+1-er with some pretty good 1v1 potential. Not really a burden on the team since it pretty much works like marauder Herald in a sense. Except you got slightly better aoe and condition cleansing in exchange for dropping the boon bot powers of Glint.
More or else your build looks like old classic and I see why it worked for you as roaming build. Personally I would never attempt with it to go 1v1, maybe in case this build can counter something really strong so plz more info.
Thing that worries my that classic d/d used a lot of boon stacking and now we got sigil that steals full stack of boon with one interrupt. It’s with now really easy to with one headshot from thief to buff him with 25 stacks of might. I have no doubt that sigil of absorption will become meta for many classes.
Good news guys – Bluri aka Sindrenerr discovered that with Sigil of Absorption you can steal full stack of boon with one headshot…so apparently protection is garbage now for us…thank God we don’t need it…oh wait….
Lol, all these people quitting the game when sustain and damage was nerfed across the board. Something they promised to do months ago.
I can’t even. When people figure out where the meta settles I doubt things will be as dire as some people are claiming.
Imagine that you have to play same build since expansion realise because every other build is pure suicide and you leave your team 4v5. Imagine that you play build only good for healing two classes because nothing else has value when you +1 them to help, cause you have 0 damage and nobody will come to help you cause…you have 0 damage. Imagine that even if you kite to try at least to contest node…your will stay there till you die cause you have no stealth, no good enough mobility to disengage so you can’t carry on your own. Imagine that you MUST use ,,elite spec" that main mechanic it stopped by random cc so you can’t even press one button like reaper and clave people with freaking scythe and feel that you are freaking reaper.
Since start of HoT ele faced only nerfs and nothing was given to compensate NOTHING. More and more amulets became unviable till we could only use mender or magi to be able to be useful in 5 man PREMADES that this game doesn’t support. Ele are STUCK at ranked solo/duo q healing those who can carry can only hope they will carry. Because instead they keep alive useless players and they will LOSE BEACUSE YOU CAN’T DO NOTHING ON YOUR OWN LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS GAME EVEN ON TRASH BUILD!
Somebody from anet higher ups should come to dev responsible ele balance and ask:
1. What did you managed to balance in this class after release of HoT?
2. Do people would buy this game to play this class?
Ele mains are right to leave this game. I agree there is great value for team to have ele player…pro league showed that really well…but that player has no personal value to BE f***** ele.
More I look at new Arcane Power more weird this thing looks…it has no synergy with ele weapons at all right now…so I think this thing might be something made for new elite spec if it had one good spike around 5k on single skill.
I am curious if anybody tired to transfer 150 ferocity buff on other player with elemental surge trait? You know…arcane power is group buff thing now.
I have mixed feelings about Glyph of Elemental Power…with drakes breath it’s instant 9 stacks of burn so it’s kinda condi burst. But weakness removal is ret*****…like what was wrong with it?!
Healbot d/f stays meta for season 8…again…with this patch is even more mandatory build then ever.
Personally now I find this variant better after this patch:
Credit for team Denial. When they used it, it was with radiance rune but it was in 5 man pre-made scenario so I think monk/earth/leadership are usable depending on matchup in ranked. I think magi is right call for now as we have more viable condi builds to worry about. Boon removal is thing on any class right now so mind that protection is even less reliable with nerf. Personally I use use Sigil of Cleansing and Purging.
Rebound buff is the best thing in this patch…almost 3k heal on amulet that is not magi/sage/mender is great start improve tempest outside healbot meta.
I am still processing rest of changes… em…buffs I guess? I can’t still see FA as gold+ build.
Now when I am more chilled …there are some interesting things dudes…
Personally obsidian flesh nerf is bad…there was no reason to ever touch this…but rebound buff on tempest healing elilte make’s it usable on non healing amulet and this is important on class with no build diversity outside heavy defence amulets.
Some things in this patch need to be tested.

In AMA anet stated that they don’t plan any new legendary armors…so I guess they ignore wvw na pvp and want to force everyone to do raids…so this discussion is pointless…
…pointless because anet thinks that prestige items should be given to people who just spam same skill rotation and grind something over and over again.

So about pvp…
Many will say that metabuild d/f mender healbot build is absolutely mandatory in higher tiers…and yea they are right…it’s mandatory to make proper competitive comp in 5 MAN PREMADE…and right now guild wars 2 doesn’t support this really well…it’s dead. So we should talk right now only about ranked…and this is not fun story.
Basically ele or tempest in pvp only exists because necro sustain and rev condi clear doesn’t exists, so your rotation on the map is based what those two do and if they suck…you know rest of story. Rev and Necro (condi necro to be precise) has some extreme godly class synergy with tempest, auras and they can make you feel really powerful . So if you have necro duo buddy or godly rev friend (godly because literally every rev from gold to bronze in this game are trash and fail at killing anything)…you can go duo and have some fun.
As for solo q things gets ugly. Random necro/rev might use crappy build, rotate you in hellzones or fail at killing simple things and you keep useless player alive. Other class just don’t need you:
-war has good sustain and likes be to outnumbered – he stay on far and doesn’t care about you.
-scrapper/druid has great sustain and they love to outnumbered – they doesn’t need you.
-mesmer/thief – +1 classes that don’t have any value in helping you in 1v1 cause have no damage and they don’t spend to much time in teamfights or 1v1 so you are useless to them.
Sustain against some classes in 1v1 is not that bad and you can try to let yourself to outnumbered against some classes and builds like scrapper, druid or DH but it not really your job and you kinda can’t push/contest far as you have lone freekill necro in your team.
Mechanically speaking tempest hellbot feels easiest build in the game. I didn’t noticed my skill impact till i started understand benefits of condi necro duo and then it started to be interesting. Overall it’s boring play style.
So in short:
Great and important in 5-man premade.
Fun and powerfull in condi necro duo.
Solo ranked → you have more fun and important things to do in pve.
Side note: yea there are scepter dps builds and staff builds (i personally love staff in pvp/wvw) out there…and they suck…anet dosen’t care to make them better…just go healbot…for good or worse.
In matters of pvp nothing from leaks get’s me hyped…if i hear that new weapon has some evades, block, blinds then we can talk businesses.
I’m tired of getting in to matches with people who refuse to play. Reporting idle players doesn’t seem to do anything. Please let use choose who we play with.
You can queue with a 5-man premade, in unranked.
In ranked, you need to climb the ladder with your own skill. 5-man premades have the advantage over solo-queuers, so the leaderboards would not reflect actual skill if they were allowed. A solution would be to have a separate queue and leaderboard for premades, but there aren’t enough people playing to have that unfortunately.
Why tell people to go play Unranked as if that is a legitimate solution. First of all, the leaderboard is never going to accurately represent your personal skill so long as the game mode is 5v5.
Yes, the queues should be split. Ranked should be for 5 man teams only, and Unranked can be for solo players. I’m sure solo players wouldn’t mind this change at all since that is where they tell team players to go as if it’s all ok.
Sadly though, any hopes for actual competitive PvP in this game is dead, at least for the time being. PvP is now just casual battlegrounds with random players and a leaderboard attached to it to give people somewhat of a reason to keep playing. Unless massive changes are made, you should look for another game if competitive PvP is your thing.

Far too long ques – because 5-man premades where rare and unpopular. So if we had already only few teams =mrr gets crazy=matches are blowouts. What’s the point of that?
Pure solo/duo-q represent skill perfectly by design – you advance if you can carry. Ranked is fine (as far as people play it – RIP season 6).
I agree that unranked is not good enough. Automated tournaments are place where 5 man teams should compete.

Why don’t legendary weapons have same ability?
Because everything not exclusively raid related must have lesser value.
Wow…feeling so great that hardcore pvp players never will have this armor…and wvw…and rest of gw…
…because attracting WoW players was more important…so much much important that it was worth it to devalue all existing gw 2 content.
I won’t buy new expansion if another legendary armor set will be exclusive to new raid or something. I won’t pay for content without any replay viability like new maps and story cause real rewards are exclusive to raids.
Don’t get me wrong…let raids players have their own unique legendary armor set…rest of playerbase should have chance to get their own unique sets.
Back to the main topic…light armor looks just horrible…i can’t imagine it on my main asura…maybe dyes that where used on armor where badly matched. It to much reminds me of human light tier 3 armor…

It works like this:
They might know of our population problem and might making some kind of solution, they will share it with us just before patch day in unforseen, dystant or not, fairy, sci – fi future.
It’s seems that only thing that gets instant attention of devs is breaking something in raids (ekhem wvw perma stealth thief)…
Maybe all pvp players should flood raids and make them broken with our pvp metabuilds…kitten this might work…i just imagined 10 man d/d condi thief raid…
If we talk about pvp i would say all shouts are good besides Eye of storm (just ok as passive trait). Of course only one class has all their benefits…but it’s horribly effective when that class is on auras – condi necro.
I am glad it’s gone now they can work on making pvp actually balanced and not just making do to meet the next esl deadline.
But it has already done some damage by putting off quite a few potential pvpers so hopefully they can recover.
Wrong – balance quality won’t go up. It can be only worse. Like i said earlier pro league players where the first ones find something op or broken…they driven to win, fought for money and generally mechanically more advanced then rest of population. So now when they gone…devs have extremely harder job to balance the game.
It’s easy to now notice that there wasn’t any pro league event for half year – no real pvp balance patch for half year.
And sorry dudes – 90% balance treads in official forum are thrash. Clearly when you read them. Autors lack mechanical knowledge of their classes, other classes, no rotating so they prefer to suicide against their legitimate counter or have 0 knowledge about it …and they made tread about it. Never ever devs should balance anything based thrash balance treads ( i don’t say every single one is that bad).
I thing is easy to say now that nothing will happen in balance until expansion. No esl – No real feedback. No real feedback – no real balance updates.
Just to clarify a few misunderstandings around the GW2 section on ESL Play closing down:

Look’s like somebody panicked at devs side and ask ESL to do the talking for them again. Unfortunately this statement means completely nothing if you think about it. They might someday somewhere someday do something….i totally see people not leaving. Season 7 is dead sure.
