They are bugged. Like many other things in the game. When they fix them there is a better than average chance something else will be bugged because of the fix.

It was not hard. It was annoying, tedious, ugly and unrewarding. If it were anything but a farm-festival for the grinding power players, all the waypoints would not have remained contested all the time and the big mindless farming groups in one place would have had the place to themselves.

Kind of like now, only without so much annoying.

So, about rewards. People over at mmorpg have repeated more then any meme you’ll find anywhere, that the loot and rewards for pve are perfectly fine. That somehow this RNG loot system isn’t slanting towards something negative like it has been for months for so many of us and that everything is unicorns and rainbows. Are people really so selfish that they can’t help the players that don’t get a single thing from drops by demanding they do something more constructive then just endlessly “gathering data” say like removing DR entirely from the open world?

What do you all think? Because there are those who believe this isn’t happening to those of us with the permaDR at all.

I’ve offered every player the opportunity to group with me on my hours of grinding in Orr. I have no problem helping tag many mobs and have only had many thanks from the people who I group with. For the most part I’m always solo. Most of this thread is just he said/she said. There’s only about 1 page of actual evidence from people who farm regularly. Not to say anyone’s input is invalid, but its hard to go off evidence someone collected on 1 run, or 20 minutes of grinding. I use my personal guild influence to drop banners for people as well, whether or not people believe they work or not is their own opinion. If players added less “I hate arenanet namecall namecall namecall” and more visual evidence this thread would be far more constructive.

Well, the only response I get from people is that since I can only prove it by my own drops and the fact that I have not made any more that 39 gold and I have played since launch is that I apparently “Play the game wrong.”

Ok, so I play the game wrong. I have to grind like you, (which is kind of silly since I don’t get drops….grind for…what exactly? Pixelated blood splatter and the joy of your company?) Farm —-Oh wait I can’t do that either…no drops, you can’t farm. Do Dungeons? For what? The big payment in the end? Hah.

So, I play wrong. Yea, that is the answer.

More Bugged Events Per Zone = Lower Drops

More Bugged Events Per Zone = Lower Drops

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nalora.7964

I do not know if there is an actual connection but…I noticed something.

As some of us with the mysterious “bad drop syndrome” have seen, when the servers are reset, our drops get better, if only for a short time.

As most of us have observed, the longer between resets, the more bugged events there are. (I believe this may have to do with “server hiccups”—and lost packets, but that is also conjecture)

I have now noticed that the “cleaner” the zone, that is, if the zone has zero or very few bugged events, then my drops are noticeably better in that zone.

We also observed (those of us who are observant, don’t ya love how I tip toe around here, trying not to be extremist or uh…whatever that other infraction is I get all the time for my hyperbole and histrionics) that some event in zones are broken in “mini areas” that is, if one is broken in a “neighborhood” so to speak, then they all will be broken. This happened notoriously with the Swamp Event. If one event around the swamp broke, they all broke.

So I ask those other observers to make note: Do your drops get better in the least broken zone?

A Day in the Life: How Do You Play?

I keep hearing the phrase: “You are not playing it right.” So I was wondering, what is a typical day/log in session like for you?

For me, in the morning with my coffee, I log on and generally I will log onto my main, a level 80 ranger and go and get small scales. I am working on a personal goal (the same one I had in Guild Wars 1) and that is to have a full stack of every material. If you are wondering, no, I never actually completed this task in GW1, as I depleted my gems when I needed them for Vabbian armor for my hall of monuments.

I never thought I’d see someone make this claim. I thought I was the only one in pursuing this frivolous endeavor. I never came close in GW, and I suspect I’ll never come close in this one either.

I always have some goal of my own in games. I have to, or the long stretches of tedium get to me. I almost had (still do) a full mat bank in GW1, it is much harder in GW2, especially for things that are pesky to get or rare. My longest achieved material in GW1 was fur squares. Mainly because I did it by gathering Charr Hides and trading them in for Fur squares to the collector in Ascalon City.

It also gives me a place to go. “Oh, what am I looking for today? —-Rosemary! Ok, off I go!”

To me it reminds me of a table top game of DnD, at the very beginning, and where the players only meet every couple weeks.

So far I have learned:

There are refugees coming from the North, into Wayfarers and Diessa.
The Asuran Herald talks about marauders.
There are strange weather patterns in Wayfarers and Diessa coming from steam vents made of rock from the ground.
There are some tents and structures that have been moved from their original positions.
There is a dead merchant on a hill in Wayfarers, near a steam vent with a strange “hint” to the story.

I am working on a personal goal (the same one I had in Guild Wars 1) and that is to have a full stack of every material. If you are wondering, no, I never actually completed this task in GW1, as I depleted my gems when I needed them for Vabbian armor for my hall of monuments.

So my day begins with getting a few of some of the materials I am not “full” of, and right now that is small scales, yams, and rosemary. So I head off on my main, to the areas that have those materials, getting side tracked with some events, and sometimes looking closely at things I may have missed in areas I have been in before. I have a fascination with 3 D artwork in games, so I like to look at all the tiny “placeables”.

Later in the day, I log into another character and again, I go to other areas I might need materials from, or that I want to see closer, and I do some events, and wander. I sometimes will also try to finish or get some waypoints on my lower characters. My “story” currently is caught up on all my characters. I have not finished my story on my main, because I solo and it is now in Orr, very close to the end, and I do not believe I can solo it, so it will remain undone for some time.

At night I log in, do my daily and gather my money from the TP to see how much I have made for the day. Then it is off to bed. Today was the first day ever that I made 2 gold in one day. Of course it is also the first day since November that I have gotten consistent drops.

So, am I “doing it wrong?” What would make this style of gameplay susceptible to a DR penalty? I play perhaps 3-4 hours total every day.

How do you play? What do you do when you log in?

Are you kidding me? Junk drops = despair + full bags. lol

I see your point, though.

My bags have never filled since November. I never get more than 5 or 6 things that are not junk for hours and hours of playing. This morning while playing I was really surprised at how many “normal” crafting materials I had not seen in months. Almost every drop elicited a “Wow, not seen one of those in quite some time….”

Bone shards. Totems. In all honesty for the last 3 months if it did not come from a harvesting node, I pretty much did not get a drop. At least that is how it felt.

Oh, and just to stay on topic, My “counts” in my slayer achievements stopped moving a couple months ago. I just stopped looking at them. It was like trying to ignore my drops tho…it was real hard to go to town and go to the merchant and bank and have nothing to show for my time in game.

Well, I hate to sound selfish, but I was in tears this morning. Not from frustration, not because I had to redo achievements, but because for whatever reason my DROP RATE was fixed.

They were tears of sheer joy. It was not that I was getting these stupendous fantabulous spiffy keen drops, but I was not getting NOTHING for hours on end. And I am talking NOTHING, ZILCH, ZERO. Today, yes, there were a few mobs that gave nothing, but my drop rate was, by my estimation back up to about 80 percent of things I killed gave me SOMETHING. This allowed me not only to be in the black for my game time, but to sell materials, and be back IN the game.

And for you people who are gritching about not fixing this immediately, please remember that bugs of this nature need to be looked at carefully to see why they happened, what will fix it, and what they possibly could affect once fixed. Try to give your data about the bug with a little less hyperbole. (And I say this knowing full well I am the queen of hyperbole—-the red headed old woman with a waggling cane)

Just don’t fix my drop rate back to phooey on youey. puleeeeze.

Lucky you. Feels more like 20% of mobs killed that gives loot. Not a huge change for me, that is.

Omg I really do know how you feel. I have been stuck in this permanent state of no loot for months and months. (I still have never received an exotic drop from a mob) But to go day in and day out and to force yourself to not give up, getting excited if you get a CLOVE or a VANILLA is just well… sad.

I am still having drops fall at around 70 to 80 percent, many are junk drops, but even these are better than absolutely nothing to me, since nothing = despair.

My drop rate is fixed. I am now getting about 80 percent of mobs killed drop SOMETHING.

I do not know what you did, but do not sell that cow.

It’s very common for drops to be good after a server reset. Usually it doesn’t last.

Mine have been consistently bad, 50 percent or more of everything I kill drops absolutely nothing since November patch.

That having been said, there have been days when it was some better, but never up to what it was pre-November. Today my drops are the best they have been since Beta.

I am guessing i lost points too, but i have no way of proving, because i don’t take screenshots every night. Jumping Puzzles seem to be unchanged, which is nice.

Thank you for this list

You will lose the points when you lose the achievement, but finishing the achievement again will give you back the points (re-achieving the achievement) .

I can confirm that those I am able to easily re-do, I do get the achievement points for. There are some, however that will not be so easy. Survivor, (gold hoarder for some, though not for those of us who have been affected by the “no drops for YOU! bug” til this morning.) My weapons master all reset when I re-completed ONE of them. My all you can eat was reset, but I ate one thing, and it completed. My slayers that were completed were all reset 1 under, but can be completed and I do get the reward points for them.

My survivor is 1 under. I do not know if it can be completed again, because I have no clue how far in I am since my last death.

Some of my weapon kill achievements were reset, but then miraculously reset again and are correct now.

Again, my drop rate is much much better, the drops are not superfantabulous in quality but they are much more similar to what I experienced in Beta WE’s and just after launch to the Nov. 15 patch.

I had noticed at one time that my slayer seemed to be stuck, because I went around killing shells all day and it never moved.

I noticed many many events working as well that I had never done, or had not done in months because they never triggered. Very fun and exciting morning for me!

If Guild Wars was to change some of its policies and try to shake off a bit of their tunnel vision about the “perfect in game real economy”—-where they seem to protect this concept over and above the actual enjoyment of the player, then I would feel more prone to clunking down even more money —-given that my time was not wasted and I was still being “entertained” for my entertainment dollar.

You have this backwards, they protect the economy for the enjoyment of all players, not bar enjoyment from the players to protect the economy. 400g doesn’t mean anything when a stack of ori costs 2000g.

A. How much gold does the average player make? What is the minimum wage in the game?

B. How much gold does it take to outfit a level 80 player to be able to compete in the level 80 open world environment?

C. How many days wages does it take for him to outfit himself?

D. How many days would it take an average player to have the luxury of things like “Legendary” weapons?

Based on these would you say that the Guild Wars 2 economy is healthy at the moment?

If you do not believe that the economy is healthy, what in your opinion is the main contributor to this?

If you believe it is healthy, how do you justify that the wage earner is in direct competition with the game developer with regards to the price of goods, and that the market never actually sets its own price because it is constantly being manipulated by the company via DR and other game mechanics, not to mention that the company sells gold directly to players?

I actually believe in supporting companies I believe in with my hard earned cash. Yes, real money.

My family owns a few software companies, and others work in the “data” end of the tech world, and I believe in paying these people what they are worth in expertise, schooling, and creativity.

I like the idea of vanity items sold via an in-game store that allows me at intervals to plunk down cash not only as a way to keep my characters looking spiffy, but as a way for me to support a company and game that I wish to continue long term.

I have in my home budget a set amount that is used for “entertainment” and because I had waited 5 years for Guild Wars 2, I had every intention of using this monthly allotment to purchase things and thereby support the game—-and the people who make it. (They are, actually, real people with homes and families to support)

The complete disappearance of Cantha makes absolutely no sense historically. Especially considering the “story bridge”: Winds of Change ended in Cantha with huge changes to the Guild Wars 1 world, including the possible melting of the Jade Sea.

Not to be disrespectful, but the Asian community needs to have the stick surgically removed from their hinter regions if they dislike a composite of the Asian world, then they should realize we are not on Earth here. The “white-anglo-saxon” world is also not “culturally sensitive” or even minimally “historically correct” if compared to the history of the planet Earth, but it is correct in the world of Tyria and beyond.

Cantha is either completely underwater if the Jade Sea did melt, or there are some islands of people left, and to be honest, the Luxons, who were masters of sailing solid water, would easily have adapted and survived to a Jade sea that had returned to liquid form.

I could easily see a Cantha Expansion as a water world.

Thank you Navi, for your kindness.

It is very sad to me, to wait five years for a game, and then for it to end (for me at least) In 5 months. I played Guild Wars 1 for 7 years, and I never worried about money or loot. “Loot happens”, I was famous for saying.

I did not have to think about loot in GW1 because it did happen. Now it happens so rarely I never know if this is going to be a “good log in” where I get something besides junk, or I get nothing. And I literally mean NOTHING. Not even a piece of junk.

It is just so sad that the Developers care more about a “concept” than actual player enjoyment. They seem so far from what is actually happening to people, and seem to either be in a state of denial, or groupthink, or both.

So much disappointment from so much potential.

Most of us who have been playing since head start know that our guilds are empty, our friends lists are empty and more and more people with less stick-to-itiveness than we have, (and are probably wiser, in the long run) left the game long ago.

Today I gave up. No one could have this much bad luck. It is obvious to me that this company would rather have a “perfect economy” than actual players.

I am in some state of permanent game purgatory. There is no time limit to it, I am being punished for something I have not done. I log in, kill things, get NOTHING, get bored, log off.

Great for the “perfect in game economy” —-(Keynesian, I bet) but not so much for people who wish to play and have fun. There is no point to the game anymore for me, and I resent very much being punished for the actions of others or because some geek at a desk wants perfect number crunching.
