I have had so many deaths in game because the server side and client side are not communicating. Over 2 gold spent on armor repairs from death by lag. I do not dare leave a city with a character, unless I want to go broke on armor repairs.
Tried this fix, too. Client disconnects still happening, and I can spend days doing various song and dance routines on my side to attempt to fix this. Would like to have them at least acknowledge it as a serious issue and know that something is being done on the server side to resolve it.
Yet another fix that does not work, because the problem is not the client side only but the server side. Someone needs to take a hammer and whack a mole.
Does not work for me, because it is not my side. My computer works fine. The only solution appears to be not to play Guild Wars 2.
Over two weeks of this and it is getting kind of old and ridiculous. Thousands of people are affected by this. Please FIX IT.
I get this one sometimes, sometimes 48 sometimes 7 I have tried every single fix on the client side that is listed on the support pages and in these forums, I have bought a new modem, had my cable company come out twice and reset my modem so many times it is ridiculous. I have taken my fire wall down, and put it up.
It is strange that I could play the game completely error free since April 28 til November, and then suddenly in November, everything goes haywire. It is NOT my side, it is the server side.
Nope, it is not me, or you, or the thousands of various computers and ISP’s worldwide. Something is wrong on their end. Something that cascades daily to suck more and more people into this horrendous merry go round of client freeze, game freeze and error after error…
So many crashes the game is unplayable. How much of the user base must be affected by this before they put it on the “known issues list” (which only exists in my head, currently)
Crashes, hangs up, rubberband lag. Loss of data. Lose things in inventory. Sigh. Will this ever get fixed or even acknowledged as an issue?
Continues today. About every two minutes. Glad I am not paying a monthly fee, but sad I spent so much on the game already that I feel cheated.
Ridiculous amounts of client freezing this morning.
I discovered tonight that if you “feel” it as it first starts you can hit the relog (not quit to desktop) and immediately relog into the server, and it disappears for a while. (this indicates to me that there is a server issue requiring a refresh)
Also, each time I relogged it would give me two different log in screens. It would first load up the Wayfairer foothills Log In screen (which I had been in during the first log in) and then would give me the Diessa Plateau Log in Screen. (the area I was actually in when I relogged my character.) this also shows me that it is a server issue losing data from an Avman server or log in server to the game server.
Same, I fixed it for a couple days with a dns flush, but now it is back. I have done everything on this end, including numerous calls to my ISP, a home visit, a new modem, and Guild Wars 2 is the ONLY thing that constantly disconnects/lags. Something is horribly wrong on their end.
This horrible long standing bug is back. Nothing on the support page works anymore to fix it, and the game is unplayable. Sad.
Sigh. I had a great few days of not getting the constant disconnects, now this morning it is back with a vengeance. I have tried every fix on the support page, I have cleared my dns cache, I have rebooted my modem, I have rebooted my computer.
There is something HORRIBLY wrong with this game. It is, once again, UNPLAYABLE.
I found this the other day:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experimental_Teleportation_Gun
I have not used it yet, but for those who suck at jumping I hope it helps me get to some spots that make me nuts.
Personally, I put in a suggestion that they should sell “teleport stones” for gems in the store. Since I would buy a pocket of magic stones to allow me to get to frustrating spots.
Of course I also demanded BUNNY SLIPPERS (and a robe, and a cup of coffee) so I could walk around LA in my jammies.
I admit I was angry over the event. Mainly because I KNOW that Arenanet can do better. I have seen it. I have loved this game for 8 plus years now.
I still believe they will not let me down. I am still having fun in the game, (especially now that one wondermous engineer fixed my log off glitch.) On my server there are lots of new people down in the low maps, and I am happy for that. I do see a lot of grinding for gear by those who like that sort of thing, but that was true in GW1 too.
I was fat out wealthy in GW1, but poor comparitively—-to the grinders. Did I need an attitude adjustment? Yea, I did.
I guess I just love Guild Wars so much that I would love the chance to come to the forums and say:
HOLY COW THAT WAS FANTASTIC AND EPIC!!
I don’t want to be sad over my favorite game of all time.
I have played now for hours without incident. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Please try the fix that is listed in this thread:
It worked for me with the same exact issue. I am not sure if it is a perma Fix, but I have had these issues for more than two weeks now and I played for over an hour (til I logged myself off) with a stable connection and smooth game play.
Ok, this worked for me so far. I did the first part to the cleaning the dns cache and logged on and played about 10 minutes (with the best fps and smooth gameplay I have had in some time) Then it disconnected.
Then I cleaned the dns part (the latter half of the instructions) and I played without disconnect and very smoothly for over an hour (until I logged myself off to write this, and go do some “Real Life” stuff. (Oh, Laundry, you are so persistent.)
Hope this solved the problem forever. So far, so good.
Last night and this morning have finally ended Guild Wars 2 for me. I cannot stay logged on for more than one minute before it stutters, lags, then gives me an error. I have done all that I can do on this end. It is not my end. It is the server side. Hope you fix it someday.
I did not refer people because the game right now is so horribly broken without the event.
I did refer people, while I was in the Beta, and I even helped purchase the game for a friend who could not afford it. Funny, I did the same thing with Eye of the North Expansion for him way back in the day. There are still too many bugs in normal play and so many people I know have left the game.
Some could not take the original “not staying in party” bug frustration and left. Some got tired of the bugged events and left. Some got ticked off when my account was locked and it took them 11 days to get to my support ticket. (I missed out on my entire “head start”.) They joined to play with me, specifically, and all of the above made that impossible.
The thing that saddens me, is that in the Beta Weekends we had ending events that were one time events that came off without a hitch. They were great fun and epic and I fully expected Halloween and Lost Shores to be the same. What saddens me is the many people who were not in the Beta who have not taken part in one of these epic events —-without bugs and glitches --— because they WERE great fun. What happened?
I too, want it to work. I am an avid reader, so I read all the information from the emails (that were spammed to me, because of a bug, not a good sign) Lived through the lag fest of the beginning, Gave from my plethora of worthless stuff I keep for whatever reason and paid out the wazoo for “packaging” to give to the needy of Lion’s Arch, and was given even more worthless stuff for my efforts.
I turned to the emails, and talked to all the new NPC’s and followed the bouncing balls to other npcs in other areas where events were all broken.
I am familiar by now (from having played since BWE1) that many events are still broken from that time, despite my having bug reported them numerous times.
Also recalling vivid memories of the Halloween event and the broken doors, I wait to see if there is a rapid fix, or one that resembles the many other broken events.
I resolve that the frustration is not worth it, and take the day off and work on other things outside of the game.
An update tells me some events are fixed, but I am too late to participate in the “first part” so I blow off the whole thing.
This was my experience with the Lost Shores.
I have not left yet, but I am close.
The ascended gear thing is not my issue at all, since the game began to be a farm/grind game early on because everything…EVERYTHING is just so expensive. The nickle and dime me to death with the costs of travel and gear repairs makes me log off at least once a day, usually for the rest of the day.
If you are a person who never grinds or farms, you are, essentially, broke all the time. There is no real way to make any money outside of grinding or “gaming the system”—-Finding an exploit or reading up on “the market” and then spending lots of time “gaming the market”. In a word? For me? Tedious.
Everyone is too busy grinding some dungeon or some area to play together, and even if you do play together, staying together is a big fat pain in the rear.
Having to give up something every day as impossible for me to complete is worrisome, tiring, and in the end, saddens me.
The lack of support from the beginning. The lack of communication from the beginning. The overwhelming feeling that I am being watched and anything I say or do will be used against me, and I will end up being banned for some slight that I was not even aware was against ambiguous and ever-changing rules.
Sad.
Frustration.
Ambiguous.
Maddening.
Slow.
Unrewarding.
These words should not be used in the description of any game in my book. Sadly, Guild Wars 2 has burned its manifesto, and live in a bubble of pats on the back and smiles all around.
They will never see this post, I am sure of that.
Not to get super technical but modern Haiku is not bound by the syllable rules. A free form haiku can use more or less syllables than the standard 17.
For those who want a standard one, the sentence above, was written after this haiku:
Five cats vie for room
On a sunny window ledge
Hark! The can opener!
It seems that I come to the forums and I find myself falling into the trap of harping on the negative. It is certainly easy to do, since this seems to be the place to come to rant and rave, by many, including myself, at times.
I have had a bad week in my all time favorite game. Connection issues, mostly. Death by lag is never easy to take. Give me a good old fashioned epic death where I go down fighting and not one pre-ordained by the gods of the ethernet, any day.
Since my connection issues are not allowing me to fight, I decided to revisit cities on a character that has not done much map completion, I leave such things to my “main”.
I have always loved the Art of Guild Wars. In Guild Wars 1 I was Legendary Cartographer, and those who achieved that title know that it required a lot of perseverance. But there was so much beauty there, that I did not mind. I enjoyed the trip.
And walking around today I am reminded again of the beauty of Guild Wars and what keeps me here. The attention to detail. The small things that give me joy.
I know that in Guild Wars 1, over 8 years I saw many expansions, updates and changes, and in the end, I still loved the game. Loved it enough to plunk down loads of cash for the Collector’s Edition of this one. Certainly there were things I grumbled about back then, and there are things I grumble about now. But in the end, I believe, I truly do, that the trip will be marvelous.
I have a folder where I keep old essays and poems that I have written over the years. On one small scrap of paper is a sentence: Cats are Always Haiku.
It is the small things that bring us joy.
In Guild Wars 1, you had to ascend. In Guild Wars 1 you also were better off against Spectral Agony if your gear was “infused”. You could finish the game without infusion, but it hurt…. a lot.
I am going to guess that the “ascended” armor is akin to the infusion of our armors in the Iron Mines mission (or two other places, if you are nit picky about it). You can do without it…but boy it sure did help against Jade Armors. ow ow ow.
Your last statement says it all: “The game is meant to be fun.”
But, sadly it is not. It is work. It is grinding, excruciating work. Crafting is a joke. It has no merit, nothing you craft is worth anything. “Farm Events”? Repetitive grinding is not “fun” in my book. Perhaps I am just not the right kind of gamer for Guild Wars.
Most of my friends who began the game with me in BWE1 have already left. Most “well brained” people do not enjoy tedium. I am only still around because my last spark of hope for Guild Wars has not yet been completely snuffed out by their idiotic decisions.
None. I have never seen any. I will never have any, because I do not enjoy farming and grinding. Guild Wars has become the ultimate farm/grind game. The bloom is definitely off this rose.
Uh, the game already is a grinding farm game. What do you think “farming in Orr” is, other than repeating the same thing over and over again?
I do not grind or farm, and will never have “exotic” gear, because I saw that it was a built in time-sink farm festival. If I wanted to farm, I would play Farmville on Facebook.
Since the game requires that one farm and grind to have the “best gear” I am forced to wander around doing nothing at 80 except “achievements”—-which are, again, yet another “grind”.
I work on lower character’s stories, but for me, the excitement is gone, since I know when they grow up they will either become farmers or retire. My choice is clear.
Personally, I do not know why people are upset about ascended gear, it is just another grind/farm for you to accomplish after you finish your grind/farm for your exotic.
This is exactly my issue. I know it is not my end, and I hate to give up completely on Guild Wars 2, but it is fast coming to that. It is a sad fact, that as it stands, It has become so unstable that it is unplayable. I have played without technical issues since April 28th.
This is really one of the most idiotic “features” to be introduced so far.
First, it flies in the face of biology. No one “slows” down when attacked in a “real” world, Ever heard of “fight or flight”? The boost of adrenaline that is released when in danger?
Secondly, this gives every mob in the game another attack: cripple on attack. The player, however, does not get this advantage. Mobs are not subject to this new physical law of the Tyrian universe.
Third, Guild members (especially those like me) run long distances at times (because of the exorbitant charge on waypointing to places on a level 80 character) to assist lower level members. But of course now running to get from place to place is slowed. Thanks. bunches.
Some of us do not like to farm and grind just to make ends meet from being nickled and dimed to death in game. I cannot even imagine the grind for those trying to get pixelated pretties. But in truth, this is what you have made Guild Wars 2: The grind and farm game of 2012.
If drop rates were better, pretty stuff was less arduous to collect for, there would be absolutely no reason for gold buying/farming by players. You create the market yourselves by making things cost so much. Introduce new and better shinies more at frequent intervals and you would have a continual market that grows, and you would not have a bottle neck of people farming and grinding all day.
The /stuck command in City of Heroes moved you to the side a couple feet away from the collision.
I get stuck in all kinds of places. I have asked multiple times for a /stuck command, but I guess the developers would rather us be stuck and have to pay out silver rather than have someone gasp exploit a /stuck command for some nefarious purpose.
Not really. Pick two pets you like a lot and stick with them, Only switch out one pet so you only have to reset one name at a time.
This has been an issue since Beta. They do not reset on your two active pets, but if you switch any active pet out for another in your vast pocket menagerie, then it will reset.
This is the same thing that has been happening to me. It is not my end. It is theirs.
I have the same issue.
I have never had connection problems before, and I have played since April.
I have checked everything I know to check on this end.
I also lose guild and world chat at times.
"Raw Candy Corn" harvesting nodes briefly visible after Halloween special event

I bug reported this thru the usual bug report in game. Still seeing them today.
Freezing problem and how much FPS i should get with this spec?

This has been happening to me all day for some reason. It has never happened before except in Guild Wars 1 when they were doing some maintenance on server side. I am doing a verify files to be sure nothing is corrupted.
Thank you from the bottom of my whiney little heart. Truly.
My hope is that while investigating the Halloween events being frozen, they stumbled upon the possible solution to the normal events being frozen at times, and that the reason behind the long delay in a fix to this is because a bigger issue is finally going to be resolved.
Maybe I am too optimistic.
The whiney side in me says I am sick of hearing “Where are the doors?” in map chat.
Blackgate Server has been bugged in Gendarran since the Mad King’s realm began. I have /bug reported it at least 3 times. The event is stuck and never completes the chain.
Also the server instability continues. No way to make a party and be insured one will complete anything, since you are force logged off and the event may have ended, or you may have been “rolled back” to the last time data flowed evenly between the servers.
Pretty disheartening to say the least.
Ours in Gendarran has been bugged for more than 24 hours. This is on Blackgate server. Gotta love the bugs. And we wondered where all those plastic spiders came from…
First, before the usual Pollyanna Brown Nosers start up, let me make a disclaimer that I have played Guild Wars for 7 years now, and Guild Wars 2 since Beta. I have loved the game with all my heart, and had great hopes for it during beta and upon release.
Sadly, my joy has all but vanished.
First it was the promise of something groovilicious in the up-til-now worthless and useless (at least to me) Black Lion Chests that drop frequently, whose keys must be bought. (sure the keys drop on occasion, (my own rate has been 2 keys to 490 chests.) Then they took the worthless items and made them into recipes for another worthless chest. Yippeeyahooie!
Then they put in recipes that require one to …grind and farm, grind and farm. Wait! Is this Farmville I am playing? Surely does feel like it. I am not a big grinding farm fan…so what else is there to do?
Oh yea, a book quest, cool, I like quests. Wait, its bugged? Oh and the item is bugged too? Oh, okee dokee. What else…FUN FUN HOLIDAY so far, (heavy emphasis on the HOLIDAY here for all you “entitlement mentality” folks.)
Oh neat, a maze! Wow, people are finally getting some fancy stuff! How fun but…uh…
I got a rock.
Oh a ….jumping puzzle. I don’t jump well because I am, alas, disabled in RL with hands that are…well…deformed and crippled. To finish areas, I have a good friend assist me with his mesmer by teleporting me. So, gee, I miss out on that too.
Well, I guess I want to put in my request now for a costume that is free that is a nifty Hawaiian Shirt (as gaudy as possible please) some khaki shorts, and a pair of flip flops and a camera.
That way I can just be a tourist in the land of Tyria and have something to do.
(edited by Nalora.7964)
The doors become regular ToT doors when the meta event has not been completed for that zone. The mad king’s realm is only open for a while, then the doors revert back to tot doors. Also, the doors outside the area where the actual meta event for that zone to open the mad king’s realm appear to remain tot doors as well.
Read the page she gave you. They are clues to where you should go next.
I am happy to report that I used what tonics I had not tossed in the trash and got mad king chests, opened them and got…..MORE TONICS and some candy corn. Different tonics, sure, but still tonics.
Also, for those who are upset that artificers might make money on halloween, I wonder if you will feel the same at Wintersday if/when you can craft candy cane equipment.
Personally I think it would be a great boost to crafting if every crafter had a holiday they could count on to make cash. Gee, might even be like …gasp a real economy, where some parts of manufacturing have “peak” seasons.
Heck, it would be nice if ANY crafting discipline could make money, in my book. More power to them.
Thank you for doing this after I trashed all the stuff from the worthless Black Lion Chests.
