Should I delete ranger or necro for rev?

I know you don’t have to delete anymore. BUT there is one reason I would delete Necro over Ranger if i had to even though i love my Necro.

It is pretty easy to get a Necro back to where it was once it is deleted and later rerolled. If you delete a Ranger and reroll later, you have to Unlock ALL THE PETS AGAIN.

Traits:

  • Signets of Suffering (Signets convert 2 Boons into Conditions)
  • Plague Sending (uses Plague Signet on Crit)
  • Blond Bond (uses Signet of Vampirism when you apply the 4th Stack of Bleeding)
  • Chill of Death (Cast Spinal Shivers on hit under 50%)

Weapon 1:

  • Scepter (for the easy 4 Stacks of Bleed requirement)
  • Focus (for the Spinal Shivers Boon Removal)

Weapon 2:

  • Open

Skills:

  • Signet of Vampirism
  • Plague Signet
  • Signet of Spite
  • Corrupt Boon
  • Open

Sigils:

  • Sigil of Nullification (60% Chance to remove a Boon on Crit)
  • Open

This is a build Idea i will definately test on Tuesday. Theoretically if everything hits at least once (in a perfect world) it can remove 7 Boons and can additionally convert at least 15 Boons into Conditions. If your enemy does not use Boons, it is quite useless, but on the other Hand if your Enemy uses Lock On, your PU Mesmer or Stealth Thief is pretty much useless aswell so everything has it’s downsides :-).

kitten Edit: Totally forgot about Corrupt Boon lol

Questions about the "new" Lingering Curse.

NapTooN.6283

A1: Yes it is BASE Duration increase that means you can slap another 100% on top of it.

A2: They could, but Arena Net has then to decide if it is working as it should. Basically it should not affect Sigils, because their Conditions are not applied by the Scepter Skills but by themselves and LC talks about “inflicted by scepter skills”

Hot is unfinished product, they can add and remove anything. I dont think it was smart buying something that is not finished.
What if you dont like the final product ? They will not give your money back.

The same that happens with Early Access Purchases. You either like what you bought or you don’t. Heck it is the same with any purchase. If you buy the finished product it is still possible that you don’t like it and you won’t get your Money back then either.

There just needs to be more options available. Having options won’t detract from this. The current 3 packages are fine and encourages new players into the game. However, all of these issues could have been avoided if there were options available for those that already own the core game and want only the expansion.

Heart of Thorns Expansion ONLY Standard. Price $29.99-39.99
Heart of Thorns Expansion ONLY Deluxe (same extras). Price $54.99-64.99
Heart of Thorns Expansion ONLY Ultimate (same extras). Price $79.99-89.99

The price has some flexibility, but overall, more options are better. For the consumers, the fans, and the people at ArenaNet, the extra time and effort to add these additional options would be well worth it.

My 2 cents. Cheers.

if they priced it with a few $ off, there would still be enough People screaming: “Why did i have to pay 60$ for the Base earlier and 40 for the Expansion while New Players get both for 50?”

I am not one of those whiney Veterans. I paid 100€ a few minutes ago for the Ultimate Edition and already added the key to my Account. Is it expensive? Yes it is. But compared to other MMOs i have payed ~160-200 € over the last 3 years for the DDE and HoT Ultimate (not counting buying Gems, as that has no relevance in this matter). In a Sub Based MMO it would have been at least 540€ for the Subscription alone.

So you are saying that not being able to play the new class that is a good portion of what makes the expansion and saying that it is not of equal value when new comers can, makes us whiny, correct?

The tone makes the Music. If you keep it civilized and calm, I won’t count you to the “OMG Kitten you ANet” Crowd. Yes the Thing with the Char Slot is not the best decision they made but it is no reason to flip tables like 99% of the Whiney Veterans do.

Newcomers get the same Number of Slots like you did back in the day with your original purchase. The Reason they can play Revenant and you can not is because they have no Characters. On the Flip side, you have almost 3 years of Playtime as an advantage. Newcomers can not blast their Revenant to 80 with Full Equip within 5 Minutes like we Veterans can. They have to work for the Stuff like we did back in the Day when we created our first Toon.

Try paying €48.85 – €83.76 or €111.70. Thats what we will be paying in the UK for the 3 tiers.

I don’t get it either. ANet uses a 1 to 1 conversion from $ to €. I paid 100€ for the Ultimate yet it should have been 89€ if we go by todays conversion rate.

Also does the consume conditions change mean we wont be able to use it to cleanse conditions and get out of combat anymore? This sucks major kittens.

Well not at all if you think about it. CoCo puts you in Fake Combat (no Enemy around and Vul does not deal Damage to you) which means that your Signet of Undeath for example starts generating Lifeforce. I am pretty sure they are other ways to exploit the Fake Combat CoCo puts you into.

Non damaging conditions dont put you into combat if you are already out of it. But they do prevent you from leaving combat.

Theres no such thing as fake combat. Your either in combat or your not. Taking fall damage puts you in combat briefly but that doesnt require enemies around.

So if MoC adds a Condition with damage, we could still simulate combat whenever we want without having the Need to jump down a cliff.

10 from Mass Invisibility

will we lose the +30% condi duration and condi dmg stats that previously came with choosing the trait line?

A part of the lost condition damage got moved into the adapt trait in Curses:

Target the Weak: Your critical hit chance is increased by 2% for each condition on your target. Additionally you gain condition damage equal to 13% of your precision.

And the other part will get onto the raised stats on gear.

As for the 30% duration, we will probably lose this one… Unless they implement a new stat set gear that has duration on it… Hence why they raised LC to 100% imo, please do note that it is BASE duration on scepter skills, so we can add another 100% on top of that… For a 20-20-20 sec bleed-bleed-poison.

They upped the Poison from Scepter #1 to 8 Seconds base. so with LC and another 100% it will sit at 32 Seconds per Stack on your Auto Attack. In PvP you can get at least 24 seconds per Stack.

Putrid Curse is the name of the scepter auto attack 3rd chain… It got upped from 4 -> 5:
“Putrid Curse: Increased the poison duration from 4 seconds to 5 seconds.”

You are mistaking it with Death Curse, which is the underwated downed skill:
“Death Curse: Increased the poison duration from 6 seconds to 8 seconds.”

EDIT: I don’t think it will be worth it to stack so much posion duration tho, I’m planning in stacking 200% scepter bleed duration since we got way more access to bleeds.

100% base duration on scepter skills
40% from Koi Cake
20% from the new Barbed Precision
45% from Krait Runes

You can get close other ways too:
100% base increase on scepter
40% from food
20% (bleed) minor
2*10% signet of malice
15% runes of lich or nightmare

That gives 75% to all conditions and 95% to bleed.

The loss of the 30% from traits is really hurting us, i’m still hopeful they put it back somewhere.

Why do People always Forget Giver’s Weapons and their +20% Condition Duration :-)

Spirits Unbound needs to stay

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: NapTooN.6283

NapTooN.6283

I don’t use spirits unbound, mainly because I feel spirits are a bit weak. I do think they need a buff (in range, effectiveness, and base hp). If that were done, I think making them stationary would be fine, especially since it would encourage smart placement. In GW1 spirits didn’t move, but could be placed at range and remain very effective. They were even handy in certain pvp modes.

Posted by: NapTooN.6283

NapTooN.6283

You can still level to 80 with your tomes.

The problem is that you will only have 400 hero points to spend on reward tracks to unlock skills and traits. That might be all right if you’re content with one build, but if you want access to all traits and skills, you’ll need to do skill challenges to get 65 more. And if you want the elite specialization, you’ll need to do more skill challenges. Some people are estimating about 100.

As a WvW Player he gets at least 13 more Hero Points, because there are 3 Challenges on each Borderland and 4 on Eternal Battleground.

Legend is Legend, does not matter if it was a good guy. Mallyx and Shiro are totally bad Guys, yet they are called upon. So it would be ok for Rytlock to channel Bonfaaz, because Revenants are per A-Net’s Definition not your “Friendly Neighbourhood Heroes”.

Poison will be the new major +Healing Counter. It stacks intensity now. Meaning poison got a major buff.

Stacking in Intensity only affects the Damage, not the Anti Heal. It means it is less viable at countering Healing because it will not last as long as right now.

This is how i Play at the Moment

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQJAqanUISXW22F2aB5XGhtgGVYAdHSRG+cDCwSB-TJhAwACOBAw2fAwDAIdZAA

My Burning Duration is increased by 33% base and then another 95%.
My Crit Chance swings between 70% (Base) and 100% (Fury + Target below 50% Health). Burning ticks for around 600 Damage and is pretty easy to reapply so Condi Cleanse does not help that much.

What can i say? I love melting Mesmers and Thiefs with this build. They start aggressive but once they are lit on fire, they start getting defensive and lose the fight because of that.

Hero Points and the Revenant

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: NapTooN.6283

NapTooN.6283

So as far as we know Hero Points will be used in HoT to buy Traits and Skills.

Utility/Healing will cost 5 HP and Elite 15 HP. We know aswell that the Revenant Skills 6-0 will be bound to the Legend and not interchangeable. So here comes the big question:

How do both fit together?

We either can only unlock a Legend in a bundle of 35 HP which would be a huge disadvantage for Revenants because we would get our skills way later than other professions OR it could be that we unlock a Legend if we bought at least 1 of their skills. So if i buy Shiro’s Healing Skill, i can channel Shiro but only use his Heal Skill because i have not bought the others yet.

Yes there is a cap but:

1. There is Condition Reduction for up to 93% IIRC, so you will still be at 100% whereas others are just at 7% Duration.

2. I am pretty sure Lingering Curse will adjust the base Duration and not count towards the cap. If it does, i will throw it away and have a free Spec for my Reaper, or keep it in the rare case of a 93% Reduction Enemy.

100% Chill uptime?

in Necromancer

Posted by: NapTooN.6283

NapTooN.6283

Sources of Chill for Necromancer:

- Any Heal Skill with Runes of Grenth
- Being hit with Runes of Grenth (Better than the Nova because it can even chill the Ranger 1500 Units away unlike Rune of Ice)
- Well of Darkness, Signet of Spite, Plague, Dagger #4 with Chilling Darkness Trait
- Focus #5
- Critting a Chilled Enemy in Reaper’s Shroud
- Reaper Shout + Elite Shout
- Spectral Grasp

For Duration you can go with:
Lingering Curse (100%)
Rune of Ice/Grenth (
30%)
Givers Weapon or Sigil of Chilling (20%)
Spectral Attunement (
50% Spectral Grasp Only)

So in the End you look at +200% on SG and +150% on every other Chill. That’s the Setup i am going to use with my Reaper, for me Chilling is not about the possible damage but more about the huge possible Duration.

EDIT: Totally forgot about the Cold Shoulder Trait which gives (+20% to Chill). So if you get a Givers Weapon, The +10% Condi Duration Sigil and the Rest i wrote, you can get +200% on generic Chill and +250% on Spectral Grasp Chill, that’s huge.

Well to be fair, Necro has the best access to Chill and when the Reaper comes out even more so. Well of Darkness + Plague is a good source of AoE Blind + Chill. Sure Chill is not usefull in every single Engagement but it is the best Condition to keep strong Melee Champions/Bosses away from your Team, because it is not blocked by Defiance unlike Stun and Daze. It even increases their Cooldowns.

Reaper Builds- post some builds

NapTooN.6283

I am expanding my already existing Chill Build with HoT.

Traits:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgQC1AVYBrg~

Runes/Sigils:
Grenth/ Chilling + Frality

Skills:
Heal Shout, Spectral Grasp, Well of Darkness, Chill Shout, Chill Elite Shout

Weapon:
Greatsword/ Szepter + Focus

Reasoning:

With this Setup i have +200% Chill Duration on Spectral Grasp +150% on every other Chill and +100% on every other Condition. I have an inherent 50% Crit Chance in Reaper’s Shroud +2% for every Condition and +2% for every Stack of Vulnerability.

I opted out of the Vuln on Chill Trait, because Curses and Soul Reaping are more important for me. And i have enough ways of applying it anyway. A 50% Chance on hit (2s cooldown) and on every Basic Attack in Reaper’s Shroud.
