I can only sadly agree, there is no room quarreling abaut this. My proof is : 90% of my guild wanished in a week, and i was forced to switch guilds for almost 1.5 month, because guilds kept becoming inactive.
Another proof is : Even if you dont have to find a specific class, it takes ages to find a dungeon party. (even hours).
The lfg tool will be a nice. Less spam on chat, and faster teaming.

I dont fully agree. Gw1 had gear and money grind but it was still fun.
If we are talknig abaut gearfarm for quality and not for looks i agree. Gear needs to be easy to obtain, and less farmy.
Really good looking gear should be made hard to obtain, but even still not so farmy as it is now. 1-2 runs a gearpiece.
If you ask me the old Ecto farm to craft items was quite a lot more fun, then farming tokens to simply buy them.

Thats actualyl the problem, 1 time events are nice. Karka invasion and stuff, but not Halloween and Christmas, they just take away there work force for events i would gladly trade for more casual content instead.
The only thing i would like to add right now, that i hope there will be other things that add to the Personal housing and Guild halls to.
For example you can buy,craft unlock fornitures, states, paintings. And can place them the way you want (like in MANY other D category mmo-s alredy could at start-_-)
I also would love to see GvG -s and a bit more costum PvP maps for Guild halls….like mini fortresses, that can be upgraded partially.
Unlockable merchants-repairs,crafting stations decorations, gardens with unique pets, or holding pens for the rare pets for guild members.
A viual apperance of the guild tab upgrades (political, warfare ect…)
And many other quite impressive ideas…..dont make another failure with underdeveloping a plain boring blank thing.
There are a few words i can not let go slip by, when i think abaut this topic. And i wished to share them.

If you ask me my first impressions ware totally mixed.
I could point out many extremely positive things abaut the game, but they are alway a bit shadowed by negative things.
It applyes to all games, but here it bothered me a bit more then it should, and the reson was : I played gw1, and it was quite impressive, cosidering gw2 didnt actually take things i liked in gw1 (or atleast not all). It was quite a big lie from dev side -_-
If i woudl have to make a list, what opped in to my mind when i posted my feedback in the first weeks, Guild halls ware one of the main things i missed.
It was a thing that was in gw1 and cosidering gw2 didnt had them, it was a step back instead of improvement. So it kind destroyed my opinion, how devs stand to this game.
At any rate, that is only a minor thing i can live without, but the more and more i played i realized more pressing matters are destroying my gameplay, and fun.
First of all, i didnt found a class i would like, second the class i liked was totally remade to something i dont like anymore -_- .
When something fundamental, like character picking is a problem, the gameplay becomes quite difficult to enjoy.
But i still pressed on. Invited like 9 of my friends, and had a bit more fun.
Trough like 6 quit araund 70, with resons i can understand.
They found combat extremely boring. Before anyone starts on it, no they did not spam button 1 to “auto attack”.(you cant even progress like that later on) Actually they got bored of making half useless combos, and no real roles in combat. Many of them had a mindset to healing, and tanking, and the hybrid combat roles bored them.
Also a combat sucsess based on when can you dodge, (or die) was a bit off for them.
We went indepth pvp a bit for playing with builds, but became also boring quite fast, to lack of builds that are usefull at all.
In the end they quit, and we still pressed on.
AND at the point, when i was alsost getting content with the game, pops up the news on upcoming changes (i actually asked for on forums some time ago).

When i read it, i realized 2 things.
1, They listened to us and implemented Guild halls, (as it was promised anyway). That shoudl have been in alredy. But still good to see they fix something to make gw2 equal in all levels to gw1.
2, They are implementing Personal housing, whitch is actually a seriously important thing, even if it might seems small. It represents the fact, that they not only equalize the game to gw1,, but also started to improve on all topics. Not only in things that are recommanded to this era of gaming.
Besides gameplay mechanic improvements that represent gw2 gameplay and are good idea to begin with, but are underdesigned, do to lack of time they had.
Even trough there are still insanely many and big things i would love to see, (exspecially more classes, and weapons) i have hope atleast now, that Gw2 Is bothering abaut its players, but devs lack time in some insane way.
With expansions i dare to say gw2 can become one of the best games of this are of mmo-s.
If i could suggest something, to fix this i would suggest to take less time on easter event and work on the core game instead.

I wont get offensive or something, dont worry. This is supposed to be a costructive post, opinions are free to post. Might as well say , i was the one asking for them or not?
I must state trough, i didnt mention when to implement, just that i would like play it sometime.
Trough in my theory Anet will soon, near the end of 2013 or early 2014 rel. an expansion, in the similiar way to Gw1 exansions, considering how big sucsess they ware, in the way they ware inplemented.
And that means 1-2 new classes. Lots of skills, weapons, races and things i can barely imagine.
If you ppl read patch notes and wiki you see we get housing and guild halls in jan-feb. And that means, they DO listen to community, and they do wish to fill in the gaps they left in the game.
This gives me hope, that even trough the game lacks a LOT of things, and even trough i like Gw1 at this point a bit more, Gw2 has the insane potential of modding. Unlike many static engine games. Its easy to modify, add or take, or even ramake.
Gw2 can be and shall be (considring recent news and upgrades) the best of the era MMO.
No need for pvp discussion, i was asking abaut pve.
I would assume someone could make an thread abaut pvp -tanking. Or something like that.
Besides that i found the tips really awesome and indepth. I must thank you all. I will try to make some test runs with them and practice it a bit. And give feedback on them later.
I run some Ac yesterday, and i was mostly spamming aoe and combo blasts.
That seemed the most usefull, besdes condition removal.
Dagger-dagger had quite low dmg and felt someweath useless, trough myght be a bad build, but thats not the point.
The point is : we really needed some tank like character. The warrior was a banner master support-rezzer, the rest aoe dmg and combo fielder. Some mobs just cut us like butter. The leaer sead many times he wishes he could be taking like a real warrior or something…
so it came into my mind i loved tanking in other games….are there any tanky like builds for thief? By that i meant exception survievability, by some means.
Anyone can suggest any builds?
Or i should switch to my ele and “tank” with that?
I just mentioned Naginata for metafore. Glaivles are a LOT swifter. And are used in a differeant way.
They are mostly cutting like swords, but meantime used as a quarterstaff.
Lets keep in mind switching between staff-sword attack and defence also requires decent agility and dexterity.
If you think abaut it, Staves can be used many ways. If you hold it close to your body and constantly switch hold it is extremely flexible as defensive weapon.
If you extend it and use sweeping attacks, it can parry spears or crush armor, or hit multiple foes, even knock them away, or sideways.
You can even use them to trust, to partially stun, unbalance or daze opponents for a second. (And since glaviles have a semi pointy end they stab for wounding to.)
Glaivles are practically insanely flexible weapons, but only the most agile and dexterious can use them.
I do think the “way of the master” was truly designed for some weapon like this.
I must also point out, the combat animations in Gw2 are the best i saw in mmo-s since gw1. -_- If any game can implement this correctly…it is Gw2. And Thief is the only class maybe that can, should wield the weapon.
If you take a warrior, you would be correct, do to the heavy armor and crudely implemented combat moves, they would propably use it more like a Naginata.
Actually, if we are at topic : I play with 2 friends, and they started talking abaut…..how boring it is becoming using the same weapons, not to mention there are so few of them…..i seriously hope they wont quit……..-_-

I know …another “we want xy class” topic, true.
You are all bored, how some players here want additional classes, but it is the way of life.
Many others and many who dont agree would be making the same was posts as we doo if the class they play, would not be present in the game curently.
Or there was actually no class that fits there taste.
But to skip the traditional : I introduce and detail what i want. I will only tell you how i picture the class, and why did i get the inspiration to play something like that.
And leave how you imagine the class, or how it gets implemented.
And exspecially balance and skillsets and so on to devs.
First of all, i kind of had this feel for a Nature based class, like a shaman or druid alredy, but was not that hard as it is now.
After Watching the Hobbit, i realized how moch i love Elven -> Sylvari races, and how they represent the pure core of Nature.
Not only Trees and Animals, but the balance of things.
The amazing Elven art, statues, complexity and fusion with nature and natural materials is fantastic.
For me Galadriel represented this perfectly. Trough there ware no part where the movies point to her powers, but no doubth she is an arch druid.
I would really love to see more Nature based skills and a full combat based on it.
Propably a staff based melee combat would be also welcome addition to this class, and clubs instead of maces. (as moch as thieves would welcome a blackjack to) And ofc 2 handed hammers.
Trough many say : there is Ranger alredy. And even after thinking abaut rolling one, i realized, i want a caster, not an archer. A class thats combat is centered araund nature, and not bows or daggers.

you didnt read my reply. I should not even bother replying again, since oyu will propalby only flame me for something i alredy stated and you didnt care for.
1, I did teamplay a LOT, actually to moch. I dont care what you call “skills”, gameplay is easy even if you combo 10 times every battle.
Besides the fact, most combos are useless or only slightly or barely noticably usefull, besides heal combos -_-
Dodging, Timing right, Focusing right target, adapting requires no real gaming skills. More like common sense and focus on what you are actually dooing and not try to instance when you are eating chips or watch movies meantime.
You know what needs gaming skill? Quake 3 . A Sc2 tournament, or a Lol Championship. (besides a good team).
You ppl are talking abaut fresh players that didnt get above 20-30 and got bored and went back to wow or main here on forums.
I am talking abaut veteran players growing up on gw1 for years and hardcore pvp ing. That are not used to play goofy builds that are anything but concrete or designed for 1 thing they want to actually do. They are used to deploy there own builds for something they chose.
Or palyers that alredy run arah and farm orr, with "builds " they got bored alredy with.
A build that spams the same sequence like 10000 times a day.
Switch a build? You cant! There are like 3-4 viable builds.
Besides, even if you “switch” a build, you are basically dooing the same. With less or more boons or conditions.
On support Thief topic : I didnt say i support when cluster bomb, i actually sead i am forced to cluster bomb even if i dont want to, because it is so usefull.
If i support i do all i can. But the 90% of the time heal is the most iportant.

On “fist” weapons: I also would love to see them, trough they need to add something unique to gameplay, becaouse they sound like another skin for dagger combat actually.
Martial artist or not, Ninja or not, the Thief has many skills indicating it is not a simple “thief” unlike his name represents.
It has the right to wield anything in my opinion.
There are many movies, games animes and books that actualy center araund a swift acrobatic hero with a 2 handed weapon, mostly a sword able to be used 2 handed and single handed to. ( somehing like bast. sword)
Not to mention Gw has no right to call on class stereotipes, when it totally reworked them, and is missing fundemental rpg and fantasy classes.

I must admit i rarely talk abaut a class as “i like it” , but i still do, because Thief is fun to me right now.
The only thing i found amiss was the lack of : Weapon selection and options.
I understand that there are not to many ingame right now, and thief-s cant have more then others, for no reson. So lets assume we are talking abaut next expansion, or big patch.
I will list the weapons i would loved to see, and why (if there is any reson besides the good look and character costumization).
And explain later, in “lore”.
First of all i must mention, how moch i missed gadget utility-s.
Trough many say thief is a complementer for the lack of Assasin (and it is true, since there are many skills that point to that, like death blossom, and lotus or 9 tail strike and so on) while others say, it is not, thief is a thief, it can steal and has many tricks.
Lets stay to the opinion of : it is a rogue like class.
And if it is it should have many gadgets to get araund the world. I would like to suggest, take the privilage away from enginers to use gadgets, and give us some atleast.
Ok on second :
I would love to see rifles. Why? (Besides the totally mind blowing The predator skin, i could not pick a weapon i actualyl liked to be my legendary. And like every third thief i asked sead the same)
Because thief lacks the “long” range single target “spiker” damage. WE alredy have an aoe – tricster – party weapon as shortbow. We have a decent medium range pistol-dual pistol that is a constant pressure, but not a slow burster weapon, that burts, but has a decent cooldown to.
A slow but high damage weapon. (dont even bother talking bs abaut : Bf, CoD…you dont 1 shot ppl in this game, and there are many others with max range weapons to.)
Besides, we can use pistol but not rifle?
I think Rifles have a right to be in the thief arsenal and not only for its looks and feel, but they could make a decent combat role variety to.
I also would love to see : Glaivles or so called Naginata. Why?
Thief lacks 2 handed weapons totally!
Its mobile and acrobatic? And? You seen Xin Zhao or Wu kong in Lol? Any East ern martial art film? Any Anime at all? You seen Star wars phantom menace and Darth Maul?
Glaivles represent the tipical long weapon (that has a close medium range) it keeps the upper hand against cavalry, it still keeps the upper hand in close combat because of its range.
It can block and take offense in a second. It can cut, bash and stab to.
Its the ultimate weapon that represents fexibility and it becomes truly powerfull only in the hands of a swift agile character….: Its the thief wow….
As combat role i could imagine a really movement based skillset, or an combat style based araund whirling and constant sweeping motians that keep the defence but also strike with a single motion. Something like close range aoe -er.
Do to limited time i can only say this moch right now. I will try to bring in more weapons that are carefully selected, and not just would love to se, but also have a rightfull pace for resons.

Lets not get into argument ower your assument :

But actually….i play with 2 friends constantly. I am leveling a “support” thief and constantly spam blast finisher with shortbow, and spin araund in my own combo fields, for aoe poison, confusion, blind-heal. But because they have no clue or experiance to realize what the combos mean its quite pointless, that I know -_-
Besides, its not the point. You can, but does not mean you are. It still applyes.
The missing factor is “be able to pick a combat role” is only half true, i should have added the side note : So you can pick a combat role-theme, to costumize your character even further.
Besides. The major point in combat roles is : that you can costumize your gameplay itself. Not only your character.
Having an option to chose what, and how you wish to play adds a LOT to the gameplay.

I dont agree.
I might sound elitish, but dodging, runing araund and kiting mobs (since they are slower) spamming “combos” that are mostly useless excluding heals you can spread is not skill. Knowing when to dodge an insta gibber aoe is not skilled, it is common sense (should be) Even now, its not abaut timing the dodge, but be able to notice when. Because its freeknig hard to notice anything in battles currently.
There are so many anwsers here to anwser, and to think abaut. Dont worry i do read all, but barely have time to anwser. And even less to think abaut it. I like to take on others perspective to see if there point is valid, atleast in there own eyes. Or they lie to themself.
But to get to the main point many take here : You talk abaut teamwork, combo system, and how many things you can do when go indepth of the system. …Yes you can!
But its nothing speciall after the first few weeks of miracle, when you realize how you can combo araund with your friend, you realize, you are dooing the same as trinity, but in a worse way.
For example, i dont want to be a combo finisher thief, because i am not a support, but i am still forced to cluster finisher in dungeon, because “its my role” even trough i dont want to be a support. I didnt take up the role. I picked a class, but playing that class forces me to be some role in combat.
Why? Because classes and combat roles are all mixed up, into a nonsense coctail.
Believe me after the few weeks you wont be so eager to caps abaut teamwork, tactical options, flexibility, meta game, variety of game play….
At worst you auto attack in the 90% of the time, like a 30.-40 ish thief. At best you only look combo fields, and finishers and dodges.
and realize…you have no real role, you are just there. Yes you are contributing….but not what you really wish to.

Tanking – Healing support in general pve.
My party still didnt try instances yet ( excluding me) but seems to work quite well.
The first time i can “tank” as a Thief actually after long time eq.
THe shortbow combo seems quite impressive considering the posts, i am getting more sure on what legendary weapon to pick….
Trough i would love to see some Glaivle (staff sword) weapon we could use in some swift manner like Darth Maul used his doppel bladed sword.
And a sniper rifle for a long range Spiking single target nuke, to expand ranged skill availability.
Yes whell, the 90% time i needed heal as support. I had all the rest i needed. Or didnt need anything at all besides a slight heal or regen.
All the replyes are totally awesome. All the support you describe sounds pretty kitten.
I will keep using bow then i guess. What counts as water field? the 3 Ele-water-staff aoe? Are there any other? Might ask my friend to play that then.

I been playing the game since beta, and still could not pick a decent class to play.
Now lately i played with friends and by accident happen to be playing a lot with thief.
It is quite afine class, but insanely boring to me right now.
Besides i really wish to use rifles, i would love to be of some sort of “support”.
Is there even a single damn thing as support in this game?
Or all it stands for is : Spam boons, go bunker, give some aoe regen if you are necro or some speicific class.
I would surely say quite dissapointin, but i dont really care anymore.
Soooo my question is : Are there any viable heal or support builds?
No i dont care for permablind, the 90% time i need heals, blind is only usefull in like 20% of the time.
My second question is : Are there any decent range dd builds? Currently my pistols suck, but they dealt low dmg anyway. Bow is even worse. Any suggestions?

We dont want trinity to be exact. We want players be able to chose roles.
7k thief and 11k warr. They are not builds, just going for raw dmg.
Tankers? You mean selfboon tanks? That only a few class can do? (it IS actually class specific, when it should not be)
Making yourself tough to kill is not helpng your team, unless you play against some dumb ai, or noob’s in pvp. It wont draw dmg from others. Its also not a role.
Healer? Discuraged? Barely any class has any heal that heals others. (another example it is class specific). And if hey do, no matter what you specialize, gear up and set up your whole character, they will still suck.
Not only trinity but no roles work right now. I can not agree.
(there are builds that are quite “hepfull”, but they are not stand alone builds, they are things that actually happen to be good.)
On a side note. Yesteday, we fought that elite giant in Ascalon, who takes the town.
Ok-ok its only lv 20 but still a good proof why this was a lie.
We go there try him on 3-totall fail.
We ask others and soon we had like 10 players and started dealing some minor dmg atleast.
The boss itself was easy-Aoe fear-Throw boulder (easy to dodge)-linear stomp, harder to avoid but easy to see-
and a nasty stomp that basically leaves you 10% hp dehending on situation.
I was unsure i avoid full dmg because i dodges, or because i was out of range. But it was quite hard to spot the stomp that basically insta gibbed ppl in range, even guardians.
But even still, it would not have been a problem, if we had a SINGLE ANYONE that can atleast heal 10-20% hp somethimes.
But no! There was no class araund that could do that. No Nekro, no mantra mesmer, no shouter warr, nothing. Ok there are no builds early in the game. But dont classes should have -non self heals or support besides traits and 1-2 skills thay happen to have from class?
I mean you sead all classes can do anything. They clearly can not.
Another thing inoticed on boss fight.
Melee is a kittened up “job”. I had 95% biger chance to die when i melee ed.
I basically only popped 3-4 hits and had to roll avay, vanish, shadowstep and so on. And i still needed luck to live.
Range is a lot more revarding and some classes do it better.
Is that just? If we have no “trinity” then why do some classes perform better in some areas?
I should be able to trait to range as thief the same way. I can? Maybe, but propably not with 10 lv outdated weapons……ooo its not gear dephendant? Wait it is not, i can still kill stuff, but like 5 times slower, and have to struggle each fight. When i have decent gear i just sit back and auto attack.
I honestly did try to do anything to fancy my combat, it does work somethimes at some classes araund 60.-80.
But as thief i jumped araund, stealthed snared switched weapons, ited. I did all there is….in the end i realized, i still kill mobs with the 90% dmg from my auto attack.
[Edit] You can come up with an only 3 skill game, stab, slice, parry. It might be more realistic, but propably not more fun.
My stab can make the enemy more vulnerable, my slice can bleed the enemy, my parry can regen my team, but in the end i will still spam 3 skills, without a role
(i feel like getting a bit more ofeensive, ill take a brake for some time, feedback is always welcome,)

No, if 2 others would wanted to be healer to, you had 3 healer in your team? It would be the same as right now. It would not matter what role you pick, you can finish it with any team setup.
gwawer points this out perfectly : does not mean tanks and healers will be required to run dungeons.

Rukia you spoke my mind. I was thinking the same like 2 weeks ago.
Classes are walled in. There is barely any costumization left to classes. When you take an Elder Scrolls game, you form your character fully. You get what you use, and you propably will use what you like. The problem kills itself….
(i was also looking forward for Eso, but after seeing the first vids….animations are terrible. The whoel battle seems terrible choppy, unlike GW was terribly dissapointed considering how awesome the game system is)
Krosslite for the 100000000 and 1 th time again, i dont want trinity back, i want a LOT better system then that. Besides, you clearly didnt read any post above (trough there are not many) but many mention above, how big trinity changed in the last years. You do NOT spam 1 heal. I played wow like 2 years ago, but if i spammed 1 skill always my teams would always be dead….it would be the same as Polar Ape says Deadweight.

If you mention visual combo fields, i might as well mention how the game dephends on visuals to moch. And how way to moch dephends on noticing some small thing that is insanely hard to notice.
I constantly had the problem Polar Bear mentioned : Getting insta gibbed. But why? Because i cant notice what the mob is dooing inside that 2 charr guardian hitting him and the 15 spell effect obscuring him. Of course i can not dodge his skills.
Another thout on the new instance :
It is fine they tuned it, so we can have roles in each combat.
And it became exiting. But the second you exit the place, you still wont have any role to fill. In the rest of the 99% of the game. Because it is the instance that is well designed, not you.
That is my opinion.
And abaut having a trinity (hopefully no) or not having. Or what we will have at all, is up to the devs. All i wanted is to give a decent feedback and see what others have as opinion, or even idea on this topic.
In the end the devs are that can summarize, what problems are out there, and how to fix them the most simple way.
Even Gw1 had many problems and was not a fully awesome game at first. But after Factions it became totally mind blowing for me. So i have my hopes up.
Mayb what i am talking abaut will be actually fixed with a LOT more content coming. They might actually just need more time to implement what they wanted in thefirst place, whne introduced infos on the game, and this whole thing wont be an issue.

THe current combat roles are just made up, not realy stand alone roles. They are partial things you do anyway mostly.
You can not pick what stlye you wish to play, or atleast not that detailed.
“roles” currently have no border.
Even if you have no trinity you should have roles in combat. It determinates what stlye you wish to play.
FOUR of my damned friend joined and left after 2 months because could not pick a class, because they felt all the same, because they could not determinate a decent role they could take up.
And another 3 will soon i think.
There is a part where i mention : Keep the current game play, but make player be able to pic up roles if they want….
Anything hard in undertanding that, or imagining this?

I dont say give us trinity because it was a no go. But the current situation is bad.
Instead of making trinity, or taking it away. You taken out ALL COMBAT ROLES. Improving trinity does not mean 0 roles, but infinite roles like Gw1 had.
Basically you should have given all classes all roles if they want to, but still keep the current game play where we dont need to take any role at all. THis way all would be happy.
You could take up a role, but would not be forced to take any up at all. You could complete anything without any role still.
You say you dont want LFG and LF healer…..whell lad i am looknig for a party even with this “awesome system” for 1-2 hours…..
Before anyone makes the mistake if considering saying anything like this “i dont want to be pigeonholed into 1 of 3 choices.”

Yes there are many options. And possibe ways to “costumize” your “builds” and create strong teams for combat, but teams will still do the same boring thing(s) :
Go in, start hitting stuff, spam buffs if up, spam cc if up or needs interrupt (if mobs can be interupted at all) Rez in combat. And dodge if they see anything at all from effects when to.
I mostly imagine pvp when talking abaut indepth game mechanic at all in Gw2 (yes it does needs a bit of insight and skill and a lot of teamplay), because pve lacks insanely any real mechanic..
As you mentioned (and as proof) me and my friends started playing from lv 1 to 20. IN 2 days all i saw was : Attack- attac-Attack- Selfheal if needed (rarely-mostly at events vs impossible odds) And we still won mostly. Or got wiped by the boss that 2 hits.
Getting 2 hitted by bosses in not hard, its stupid design. Like in Heroes, the game wont be harder if it stays stupid. But will start to cheat. It will be stupid and dissapointing.
And dont tell me “know when to dodge”…….A game combat based on if you can dodge 1-2 attack every 10-20 sec is bu….ok lets stop this thout…Way to simple and single minded.

Dear bluewanders after dooing all that, i realized, it is still boring, and i have no real role in combat. I still almost do the same when i play singleplayer.
Exacly for the reson : All builds are viable, ergo : all classes are almost the same no matter what build you have.
You might have more or less dmg. More or less cc , more or less boons or conditions. But in the end you will keep spamming nukes, or nukes that apply boons or conditions, but in the end they will still be nukes you spam in pve always anywhere anyway.
Only because it works slightly better in team or in instance, it wont mean you have a role….
As many mention Fractals is the first step. And as you mention, because it is implemented that way.

You have to invent combat roles by building the game in a way. Instead of give players combat roles, and build the game the way they want.
This will INCREDIBLY LIMIT the devs, and will make the game design insanely slow.
I admit, it will make each fight unique, and well designed. But i kind of have low faith after all those boring instances thay dropped in game so faar.

If you ask me, i would actually implement the (not even trinity but 4 roles) with the current combat system or game system.

Gear? Besides the game is alredy gear dephendend badly, now that we have these ascended.
I dont want to agrue on this topic. But right now if you have a bad gear you can barely kill mobs above 40-50. But soon as i brokered a good gear i could progress easy.
Trough might not be a harsh problem like you describe or it is in other games but it is also present in some way, and its not a valid point to base on.
I dont say games need “healbots” or even a dedicated healer class that can ONLY heal and support, but there always should be a way to become support only role.
If you ask me i would remake heals to be really usefull, like half hp heal, but give them a big Cd time, so you cant spam them. Like in D&D, you only use it tactically when it is really needed. Healing magic is rare.
I dont want to get into the quarrel abaut : Boring and not boring. Simple or not. Its not the topic here.
The topic is, how roles (or the lack of them) effect it.
On the side note. Tank build is strange, but still not a real role. All you basically do is make your character tough to kill, but you basically dont achive anything with it. It has no real purpuse. Its not even considered tank, since it wont draw dmg away from others. Since others only attack you if you get lucky. Ppl see you are bunker and ignore you.
Just and example.
Besides, combat IS boring mostly. Not always i admit. There are totally thrilling and exciting battles, and events, where you need to dodge constantly and make your heals timed.
But the 75% of the time i can progress by spamming my weapon skills.
On a mob and still kill them no matter what order you use your skills. (it wont matter if slow or fast, time is not a question here)
Utility skills are so high on cooldown you always save them, and become useless. When you would actually need an edge, you realize they are not that strong at all. And still die.
This is pve. Abaut pvp? hmm whell it is quite decent i must admit. I might as well say i would keep the current system for pvp.

Gw does not need trinity, also agreed on that to. It need more then 3. roles. And exspecially more then 1.
What you say sounds interesting rickets, but thats only shows, there can be teamplay.
But keep in mind the 90% of the players dont have or cant get an arranged team.
I pesonally hard only 1 thing from all araund the posts and game feedback : Its hard to get ANY party at all.
“GW2 is about everyone helping everyone” I agree, but that does not mean you should not be able to pick up a role you would like to.
So, what i try to say is : Gw2 would be awesome if you could take up roles. Determined Defined roles. Not just all arund DD classes, that can make some specific things, others can not. But a whole definded role in combat.
And most importantly, the game would still not need any roles to complete.
Example : You could take up tank role in dungeon, or general pve. But you could still finish them without tanks.
I do believe it would add a LOT to the game.
Players had a LOT more room to custumize there classes or characters.
To pick a character that fits there taste a lot more accurately.
Its a room to expand characters options.
That is my opinion.

I theorized a lot araund Gw2 since beta, and i think i found the root of a lot of problems.
Lets keep it clear trough, it is my opinion. But i cant and wont say it is only my opinion.
I Searched a lot and used forums a lot lately, and i can say it with a decent confidence, I basically extracted this from others posts, suggestions, opinions.
Many wont know why they say things, or what is the cause of that problem.
Lets keep it still clear. What problems? (yes there are)
Boring or to simple combat.
To few or to walled in classes.
To few skills, weapons.
Dungeons die or dodge problems-More interesting boss battles.
So where should i start it?
Lets start with an example of how other games work :
Gw1 : Many combat roles – trough none are seriously needed -> All classes are fun, combat is never the same.
Wow and other : Trinity – there are 3 main roles mostly – they are all needed – hard to make party – classes become quite fun to play trough, and combat is moderately fun.
Gw2 : Barely any roles at all – some would be quite usefull somethimes – combat gets boring quite soon (unless pvp ing)
So, i think i pointed the problem out quite good. Many wont agree with me, but trinity, or atleast something like that was good. But thats quite harsh to say. Basically because its not fully true. Lets get into detail whats going on here.
Anet “destroyed” trinity for a good reson, but in a bad way.
They removed roles, but instead of upgrading the system, they downgraded it.
They should have give all classes all roles, instead of none.
No roles? Thats my opinion. And i understand many wont agree, but i make a stand in this.
My resons are quite simple. You can do many things in combat, but there are no stand alone themes for combat.
You always , dodge, nuke-hit, selfbuff-debuff. And that can be summarized as a normal dd in any other game. Its quite standard. And no matter how you “specialize” you will still be a simple dd in this game.
IT wont matter, that you call yourself support, you cant be a support as main role, because you have to dd and can only dd anyway. Because there are no skillsets for support only. Besides, what you call support? Self and others “buff”? Yes it does count a lot, but thats still no support.
That minor heal or regen the 90% of ppl can do anyway?
Cc? You cant say you are main role cc er….if you could tha game balance wouldbe destroyed asap.
There are many resons i cant explain, but deep inside all should feel, there are no roles here.

But lets see : i am still Lfg for 40 mins, even if i can be " anything" anyway.

I must say your good resons ware totally in vain dear Anet. You destroyed it yourself with other game mechanic’s.
But i do think this can still be saved. You dont want : LF healer to Cof spams and so on?
Ok here is my idea : Make all classes able to do anything. Take on ALL roles. And as a bonus, dont force anyone to take any role, if they dont want to.
For example : Healers are not needed, but are quite welcome anytime.
This way players would be motivated to pick a role they like to play, but wont feel forced to healbot. If they wanted they could heal and support others, but could switch anytime to dd, or even tank.
Wont prevent ppl asking you to be healer? Nothing will prevent that, thats the nature of ppl. but you can replay : take the role yourself then.
I would love to talk more abaut the early weapon and boring combat topic, and how it connects to this, but i am limited in time right now, trough thats no exuse for my terrible english, but i will get back to this topic soon. Till then i welcome all decent opinions on this. And would love to hear the others who think alike.

I imagine free tournaments like Gw1 arenas, i liked them, but not even comperable to ab matches fun (atleast to me) . But if nothing else, we try it. The others might like it.
On side note : in my first years of mmo ing, araund 2004, when L2 started to kick in, i loved the pvp. I wanted to make big sieges, and so on.
But right now i feel bad abaut playing a chaotic, “run araund” with barely any players, or 1vs 200 man zergs.
In the last few years big scale pvp was a crap, and sadly gw2 didnt improve that by a lot. (my opinion)
But might give it a shot later araund 60?plus.
If we are at the point btw, might i ask what classes are best currently for pvp? Or what setups? I hear a lot of “bunker-Counter bunker” and stuff. Are team-class builds that important?

So here i am totally furious and dissapointed.
Why? Because me and 2 of my friends (soon 3) wanted to try PvP a bit. Because it was quite cool when i played some alone before they started playing.
But we realized……there is no freeknig chance to play togather? Or join as a team?
Tournament? WHAT? We just starting pvp, we dont want tournament, besides it needs 5 man team.
Also we only want some fun, not hardcore action.
We selected the same “server” at game browser, that had 0 players. And was put in opposing teams. Ok then we try a 4 -5-6 so on but always get in different teams….
I dont want to play against my friends, i want to play WITH them.
Even Ab-s in Gw1 could join as team….actually you could ONLY join as team in Ab-s….
(We didnt like WvWvW, dont even start on me with that.)
Or am I missing something? Tell i do.
If not, my feedback is : This is terrible, pvp needs more options asap. This is Gw….it supposed to be the king ov pvp. Like gw1 was. Or Daoc was. Or lineage 2 still is… -_-

I must state, that based on history Dervish do wear light armor. Basically no armor at all, they ware simply clothed up.

Second, i dont want to get in a quarrel abaut this, but balance? Whell i dont think there is anything to base on it. Some might say “it would be to powerfull or unbalanced” , but in fact, Necromancers are bugged to insanity, Guardians are half immortal. Bunker builds win the 70% of PvP matches. Thief-s have an insanely op Heartseeker. And so on.
There is no balance yet, so i dont agree on the topic it would be to powerfull only because it has higher armor then an Elementalist, but can nuke in a similar way.
Besides elementalist can switch in combat 4 skill sets, the Class we are talking abaut cant.
Might also add (atleast thats my opinion but i alredy mentioned it above) armor does not count as souch a powerfull thing. The things usually matter are dodge,and boons when talking abaut surviving a battle. (exspecially in pve)
I agree, Scythes must be brought back ! There are so many pleas abaut them they propably will. And if they will, they will make a dervish for sure.
“I really do not like the Marks” cant agree more. Besides Necro currently ( as totally wierd it sounds) lacks range direct damage a LOT.
Agreed on that Kuraikoto. A lot also dephends on Traits. You can be a lot more squishy then a cloth if build so.
My thouts on those news are not so gloomy. The more and more i see feedback from Anet and from players, A net will surely make big changes araund classes. Might even reworks some totally.
There are insane ammount of unhappy players, and there are quite large numbers that play less and less. (trough wont quit, free to play has its good points).
but wont leave the game totally. Thats there luck. Many are just waiting for a class they find more fitting the current ones. Or wait for more content, balance and things.
Also, lets not forget its an Nc soft game. They do make quite the quaility games,, exspecially on mmo market. They have experiance and will expand the game rapidly if they see the need for it.
Take Aion. In 3.0 they got like 20% of game content. and in 4.0 they will give 2 new classes.
In korea they alredy did.
Or Blade and Soul. Its not evne out here, but it alredy has an expansion.
Lets not even forget the Gw1. It had the (i dare to say) BEST expansion out there. You basically got a whole new game and it could even be a stand alone game. What mmo can say that? The cultural themes ware extremely intense, and it introduced not 1 but 2 new class. Take wow, 4 expansion 2 class.
Lets not forget Alliance battles. A brand new dimension of pvp. (i still find it the best after daoc). Nigftall and so on. If they make expansion even remotely like those, this game wil blow. And i am sure they wont make the mistake of leaving out classes many players want now.
For example (trough i like both) Mesmer was waited by many players, so it was introduced (propably instead of another class). But cosidering there own server statistics Mesmer and Egineer ( that is walking in the same boots) are the least played classes. They propably write them down as slight mistakes. (thats my opinion)
So dont get down. If you ask me the game has Extreme potential. It all dephends on ….how hard they work.
If you check out how awesome things the game wanted to implement you will see, the thing we currently have is not even the half of what it supposed to be, but to lack of time we have this…..but belieave me it wont stay so.

Necro has alredy way to many melee and medium range skills, i would propably reroll totally. If i play a caster class i want to be ranged. It is quite bad sour for my taste alredy anyway. No thy.

Are you happy with the current atmosphere of the game?

My anwser is : Its decent but i would have prefer the more dark atmosphere the game was designed in the early stages. (if you check out the attached pictures you will feel what i am talknig abaut)
Currently i found Sylvari a naive young race (the way they wanted them to be) , trough they planned a wise druid like race at first. And i think that should have been batter. The original concept of Sidhe.
Trough the Maps are awesomely designed, the most of them lack that certaint darkness and emptyness we felt trough the brilliant artworks of Daniel Dociu and others. I admit, there are few areas that are quite impressive, but owerall they lack the artistic feel they are sead to have. Or might as well say “less sunshine” please.
Putting that aside i would like to ask abaut Summoner and Cronomancer.
Are you all happy with the current classes?
You want more? Less? Do they cover all the themes and combat types or gamplay you like?
I personally miss a lot of aspects that could, should be implemented. (like a Classical Wizard tipe caster or a non Nekromancer summoner, a plated offensive long range caster and so on….)
They can be eather given to current classes as an extension of there, skill,spell, weapon arsenal. (as dual sword rangers and thief-s, or more tipe staves and swords )
Trough i dont think they should be. Some aspects should be retained or saved for fully distinct classes. (besides keep expanding the current classes)
I personally miss the Cronomancer concept of Heavy armored Long range class. Guardian is cool, good support, and awesome “tank”. Like Warrior. But guardian lacks range, even trough he has spells.
And it feels just bad, to only have only 3-4 classes that have 1-2 builds viable for long range dd. Besides we only have 2 heavy armored class right now.
A bit on side, when i saw the first pictures and infos on the game (after it was announced) i felt there will be a Summoner class, but the game came out and there was none. Trough my intuition was right, it was planned but not implemented. So was Shaman and wass again not implemented.
Trough i dont understand, the game screams for a shaman class.
Anyhow, anything can be explained and exused by lore and other things. If its not implemented or if it, you can just exuse it by some lore you scrath up from somewhere. Lets not get into a dispute over this.
I dont want to moan, or anything. What i say is : I do really hope the missed out concept will be implemented sooner or later, and the game does get the designs they left out. I liked them better as the current design. The game feels like heading the wrong way, maybe its me, but it became (becoming) to mainstream?

I had serious problems picking a class, because i wanted to play something long ranged nuker, and support, like guardian, but it lacked a really decent long range viability.

Ps: Btw Summoner? Araund the engineer and mesmer reveals i was looking blankly at the wall….What? Cosidering pictures and stuff there supposed to be a summoner class. There ware so many pictures indicating it.

I ben playing since beta but still didnt get to lv a class to 80. I constantly reroll and cant decide relly what i should play. Non of the current classes fit my play style.
I usually like to play “casters” mostly ones that have a long range nuker, or a “healer” or support tipe character.
But currently cant decide.
I have almost all classes araund 40 and did try out all of them in pvp alredy.
Can anyone suggest me a class, that is a really good long range nuker and can be used in WvWvW in a decent way?
What are there besides Ranger and Ele that are viable long range dd-s? And what builds?
(i propably would pick Guardian because it can support awesomely, and Heavy armor is cool, but it totally sux in range combat)
Been working hard before Xmass, but will soon continue.

hmmm in my opinion, they learned a lot alredy, and dont worry they will make some truly legendary looking items.
But putting that aside, i personally would add actual “legendary effects” only. Without items. You could unlock for example A legendari looking mark of blood.
And some skills also had 3-4 normal alternates to. _Like turrets for engineer, or minions for Necro.

Yes, i also miss a monk class, but something like a healer-melee hybrid. A mix of combat and gw1 monk style.
Lets not even talk abaut cc and support. right now i am not satisfied with the non trinity concept. I am looking for 40 mins for party anyway…longer then i am usually looking with trinity based games. So the whole point of it is lost.

Lets see.
1, Balance issues are 100% dephending on devs. The skills, and mechanic’s i mention are examples, to show how the theme of the class looks like. In the end the devs implement it (or not) and they are the best to know how classes, mechanic’s work. Besides Dota was 10 times more fun when it was unbalanced, then League of Legends, where all heroes try to be equal, and they feel totally the same for the exact same reson.
On second thout, if you run some dungeons you know….Heavy or Light armor means really not moch. The mobs and exspecially bosses 2 hit you no matter what you ware.
The 80% of the combat is decided on boons, conditions, stats, mastery and how well you can dodge. Not no armor.
If you ask me its more like a cosmetic. atleast thats my opinion. ( the early lv 20-30 iswhere it mosty matters i admit it) I dont think it would make a drastic imbalance.
2, You say Heavy armored mediun to close range caster is filled, but we are talking abaut a long range offensive caster.
Guardian = melee-medium tank caster XY = Long range nuker caster
3, In some ways? Only because its a bar and it fills? The machanic is not the same trough. Your alredy existing skills that get additional effects based on how moch the bar is filled. I dont recall any other class with even like this.
On the trout of having more of the same time of weapons is good. I alredy mentioned it in many posts.
But this is not the same. The Guardian can not take a nuker role. Exspecially a long range one. And it has the theme of “goody goody pally”. And not of a Sorcerous master of war.
I dont agree, new things need to be invented. It is what drives things forward. But i do agree, if there are to many of the same kind it becomes chaotic. But you must admit, Guardian does not fill all the themes, and roles of “plated caster” -s. It has way to many aspects, to be able to be filled with only 1 class.
(atleast with the current game)
Even if we take the idea you (and i also had) have abaut weapons, and let Guardian be able to fill a “long range nuker role” it will have a ‘goody goody’ theme, and not an evil -ish tone to it.
I do think its a theme worth to be implemented.

As for Class mechanic i was thinking abaut 3 themes, but i am open to suggestions.
1, The first theme is based araund the divine part of the class. A 2 part bar called favor.
You fill the bar with casting spells, that hit enemyes.
But unlike the warrior, you dont deplete the bar, or can use skills with it. But your skills get an additional efect based on your Favor state.
For example : Arcane missiles on favor 0 do what it described.
At favor 1 they apply poison.
At favor 2 they deal a slight aoe with each hit.
Rain of Death at favor 1 can be placed
At favor 2 it will immobilize at first hit.
2, The second theme is centered araund “casting with bare hands” .
The class would get an icon (like death shroud) that can switch him to “bare hand” mode. (that would only look like weaponless, but the character would keep the stats of the before equipped weapon).
In Bare hand mode, the character could ignore the “channeling” effect of skills, and move araund and dodge without interupting channeled spells, but would loose an affect from skills.
Like : ForceOfWill removing poison. Or Rain of Deaths area slow.
Or would remove some skills, like “CrawlBeforeMe,Snapshot,” and so on…skills that use weapons.
I will soon add the third idea on mechanic. Till then anyone ideas? I would love to see some opinions on Class mechanic.

I would like to ask, are there any “support” build for Necro?
By that i mean heals, and protective buffs, and not some crappy random buffs. But a build that is helpfull. And can be called support.
I packed heal power, but there are barely any skills that benefit from it -_-

Ok a few skill ideas, and a list of class mechanic ideas.
As we discussed on other topic, lets keep to the Bloodstone lore, where magic is categorized to schools : Destruction,Agression,Denia, Perservation …
I guess, as best Destruction fits the class. TroughAgression would be also fitting. I did not decide yet, but its free for discussion, whitch spell represent whitch….trough, there is not detailed description on the web abaut them.
Arcane missiles : A good skill for 1 (or auto attack) at first cast the character swings the staff shooting 1-3 bolts of energy missiles at target.
-Second attack : Holds the staff like Elementalist at lightning surge and shoots 3-5 bolts
-At third attack the character stops moving (dodging-moving interupts this) and slams the staff into the ground ( gandalf style) and releases a dozen of small missiles araud hitting the target – Only for the totally cool look, all the missiles are homing.
(some pictures under the post abaut this)
Force of Will : The character pounches the air in front of him, with the staff and an invisible force knocks back foes in front of him. Also removes poison and a movement imparing effect.
Black lightning/WarpBolt : The character blurrs and slides sideways ( random direction if you are not moving-apllyes distortion for a sec) and shoots out a cracling bolt of energy from his nonstaff hand. On hit it deals damange, blinds, and on final hit explodes dealing burning to targets cought in blast.
MagusStrike : The character slams the staff in front of him with a swing starting from above his head, ending on the ground (like when you try to split someone in half). Dealing moderate dmg, and stunning-interrupting foes in the area.
Desintergrate : The character channels power trough the staff for a few seconds (channel- interupted on move and dodge) after the time is passed unleashes a long range high damage ray of pure energy. (deals more dmg to burning foes) . Its a long Cooldown skill.
FlashBlood : The character throws the sword from his main hand (with only a slight motion, like throwing a card from wrist) that hits the foes stomach, then returns. (applying bleed)
BLoodforBlood : After the activation, the character blocks the next attack within 3-4 seconds, while blocking with the sword in main hand, casts a painfull spell from the other (since the enemy lets his guard down to attack and is vulnerable meantime).
Snapshot : the character holds the pistol high with offhand and shoots out a fast 3 bullet barrage that is aimed for the head. The character has to stop for this or it gets interrupted by movement or dodge.
Deals moderate dmg, and apply confusion or will interrupt foes.
CrawlBeforeMe : The character hits the enemy with the pistols grip in offhand, that knocks the target down. On Second activation (can only be used on foes on ground) the character will use the current main hand weapon on the helpless target on the floor.
A few ideas on this : Sword – stabs in chest, like a finishing blow (dealing more dmg when the foe has less healt.
Focus : Kicks the foe on the floor a few times, applyes weakness.
Vacum : The character puts away weapons and casts a terrible spell with both hands on target location. An orb of spinning dim light, that sucks in foes in area and detonates after that, dealing massive dmg.
War: The character holds up the hammer in his hand to the air, and a giant hammer will strike the taget area. This will knock foes down. ( good sinergy with CBM)
Rain of Death : The character holds his hands up, and summons an Ball of Energy on his location, that will shoot bolts at foes and slows thme down near the ball itself.

Whell i dont fully agree. did you alredy see a combat staff? In life or in fantasy game?
Its basically a simple wood staff, that has a steel or iron, lining or filler. (mostly for weight)
1, A combat staff can break, yes…that is why items have endurance? ( and can be repaired) In real life, when you used staff for combat, it was because it can be replaced easy actually.
2, You cant replace it because its a rare magical item? If its magical, then it wont break…so simple.
Besides, even if you are right, it means not that an class and combat aspect and mechanic should be neglected, only because some dont think the current items cant be used for it.
I dont want to get you down, but they propably wont implement another staff type only for anothe aspect of combat. (trough it would be resonable, since it would expand all staff classes) But keep in mind many would complain “why can an Elementalist use staff for combat?” In other hand, they are trained with that weapon…thats the reson they can use it. If they are trained with it, why should they not be able to use it for melee combat?
And as ending side notes the following staffs are surely fit for melee combat : Forge staff, Flame staff, Peacemaker staff, Quaggan staff, Lionguard staff, Kodan staff, Krait staff…and so on…Why? They are massive, and look like they are made from tough material.
Besides, you judge them, to breake when you hit with them….on what? From the look of the material they are made? Or How slender they are? Or they have a criystal in them? How can you tell they are not superdurable materials? They are supposed to be made for combat, they propably are.
I dont think this should be a topic to discuss, but if you have any more thouts on this i will listen, but dont assume theoratical lore please. Thank you for your feedback and interest anyway.
PS : I know what you are talking abaut, but the staff you are thinking abaut are “martial art” staves. They do need to be durable, and slender to be swift, but we are not talking abaut a martial artist class. It more like : hit them few times somethimes.
and let me add, even a martial artist staff is a simple pieace of wood, the Gw staves are magical, dont think they can be compared at all.

Runiir, thank you for poiting this out. I will keep this in mind and try to think of a flaws that can outbalance the class.
-The idea of “no self buffing” sounds good, trough a heavy armor class would look strange without self perservation.
-Atleast my guess is, that most heavy armor classes are implemented for first lines,(trough we are talking abaut a ranged class actually)whole idea behind “picking” a heavy armor is to be “fighter” like. And without atleast regen, aegis, or protection would be hard to stand in front lines, but still might work even with only armor.
-Not to mention, if we are talking abaut an offensive class, it wont really need self perservation, atleast in a form of boons.(at best it could steal life in some way)
-Besides self buffing is not that important if you can outkite things, since you can go ranged. and lets not forget many classes can buff you, (like Mesmer with Signet of Inspiration) and there are many “main support” builds for many classes.
As final word, i think taking away the most buffs would be good.
The second flaw i can come up with is : The lack of mobility.
It actually fitting for a heavy armored, caster class. Besides, it also fits the low selfbuffing availability.
Trough it might cause problems if wants to use melee skills, but i guess its still not a real issue, since will only have a few melee skills, like any other caster has, close range skills.( even Ele has lightning whip and Necro got dagger, or Mesmer Swords )

I was thinking on Weapon selection ( with the current ones) and Besides staff (whitch would be the symbol weapon of the class), i came up with :
-Main or offhand -Sword , but cant be dual wielded. Why? Whell basically i did not want to give him a dagger, because it requires a swift and agile character, and this is not one (mostly because of the heavy armor).
Since it does need atleast 1 melee weapon, to melee atleast in some way if needed, i think sword would fit for that.
-Main or off hand pistol, but cant be dual wield the perfect support for sword, you can keep your ranged setup, dephending on where you equip it, you deal raw damage, or just support damage.
I am not sure on the rest, but still thinking, if anyone has any suggestions, go on.

Pistols stealthed? Like put away? DUDE really try to think real! When you fight someone on a battleground you think after smashing an exploding smoke bomb, the enemy will care if you have an pistol or not in your hand?
Besides, who you want to fool? Only yourself at best. An npc wont care if you have a pistol or a mofo nuklear reactor in your hand. And a player will care even less -_- he sees you he will attack you if needed. You are clearly talknig extremely stupid things -_- no offense pure fact.
Not giving out your position? Another bigger bs……The second you attack ANYTHING gives yout your position. Actually an rifle used from big range gives you out less then a dagger stabbed from the back -_- did oyu think on that alredy?
Teamplay? Others notice you? Dude, if oyu backstab someone they will surely notice you the same way as they notice you shooting a gun or a bow ( an bow shooting poisoned gas, and exploding arrows -_-)
but lets agree on 1 thing. You get crossbow, we get rifle, you dont have to use rifle, i dont have to use xbow. Both happy thats the story !

Alredy made a suggestion on rifles, with a sniper like skillset theme. I would play a Thief propably instead of a stupid engineer, or forced to play warrior.

Exuse my bad english, and i know there are many clas suggestions out there alredy, but in my opinion, right now classes are quite narrowed in. Either they need to get a LOT of skills and weapons, or we need to get a lot of classes.
Its not abaut, class mechanic, or balance, its abaut the theme of the class you want to play.
I was quite inspired today, i started reading a Warhammer 40k book : The thousand sons, but had no time to finish it, but i also had it in audio so i started listening to it, and realized how amazing feeling it its to imagine the characters of the book.
It inspired to realize Gw2 does miss a third plate class. Not only that but there are barely any real long ranged, direct damage nukers. (by that i mean casters)
Besides ranger and Elementalist there are basically none.
-Side note : Since there are 3 of every tipe of armor class besides Heavy, it would fit right in to complete the Heavy armored classes to 3. Besides it would also outbalance the defensive Guardian, since it would be offensive.
I also realized why Guardian became so popular and fun. It can do many things, its hybrid, and trough the concept is boring ( a tipical paladin) it was implemented awesomely. (Unlike the Necromancer).
The third thing i realied was, that noone uses staff as a combat weapon. Even trough you get skill list from weapon’s, there are no melee skills. (i willget back to this later)
Realizing those i pictured a Plated warrior like class, with strong destructive powers, that can combat in melee, or cast spells to blow the enemy from long range.
Besides its a concept of psykers and sorcerers,librarians in Warhammer, its alredy existing in the game : Look at the priests in Divinity’s Reach.
I also dont undertand (trough i can see trough it) why Anet didnt implement a divine class to begin with. Or atleast somehing that is like 1.
There are no gods? Ok currently, but there are actually billions of proofs they existed, and besides that, noone cares if they do or not, there are thousands that pray to them or cast spells in there names. The gods beeing absent means basically nothing
Norn and Chars dont believe in them? Not togather as a race, but clearly there are many who do beliave in them. Picking the class would clearly mean you do, nothing special. Its a personal pick, just like the ones you make at character select.
I dont concrete skills or class mechanic yet, but i do list some of my ideas on it for example later on :
Till then, some pictures i found fitting, and how i imagine the class.
(if you played Guardian and used tome of wrath you know how awesome feeling this class would be)

There are so many classes i would love to see, there might be a problem with the curent class system i think.
Btw thinking ower this a big time My priority list would be :
Anything divine
A tipicall Wizard instead of Elementalist
A redesign for Necro, or a Warlock (Something like Magus in warhammer)
A sniper side for Engineer.
A mobile acrobatic Plate user (maybe with a staff or Glaivle)
and so on….
Monk could be included in : Divine
Plate user and Divine could be A priest.
Something like a plated caster, to complete the Heavy armor classes to 3. And to balance the defensive Guardian with an agressive offensive spells
