I quite understand and agree with Anets policy of only sellig stuff that wont get you any benefit compared to other players, just cosmetics that improve your game experiance.

I still remember the terrible abuse of this in Eve online. And Runes of Magic.

I agree with Zao.

Nekromancers “trademarks” is supposed to be undead minions.
And not only they look “sigh could be a LOT cooler” Exspecially considering how totally amazing some pet animations and textures are.
But also they are quite weak. Even if 4 minion is attacking my target they eather die quite fast or wont even get hurt. The “sacrefice” skills for them are a joke to. I keep forgetting them.

Another problem of them is : They TAKE YOUR UTILITY slots. Why do i have to waste all my possible utlity skills to be what i am supposed to be?

Yes skills that “take your healt” are a good idea. And an animation like : Nekro cutting his hands and weawing blood signs in te air is a good idea, just take Ele, it does do that, (without the blood and cut part).

As for Balance i actually dont really care for now. The char performed decently when i pvp ed a bit, but it is forced to 1-2 builds, like any other character (witch is a lack of skillarsenal witch is becouse of the lack of weapon arsenal).
If i would like the class like it is i would not care seriously if its weak or not.

I also heart this idea alredy.
Having 2-3 skills that you can switch is fine (10 is way to moch). But giving more weapons would fix the skill flexibility.

For “creative skill setup” i can halfly agree.

-Take the idea of putting points on toughness and putting in utility for melee combat as Ele, and use a Lightning hammer. (its the same as making a lightning hammer build in gw1) You must develop your whole char into that build (just like in gw1) Traits,stats on gear, skills. Everithing excluding the weapon skills ofc, since you will use a skill to change it. Witch is not a bad idea since you can have your original weapon skills and support in range (trough not so powerfully like if you spec for that) and can even go melee.

-BUT i must also add, not all characters have an abaility that lets them use a “special weapon” (like Eles can) Thats exacly why they need more weapons! So they can make more “builds”.

-So i agree on that : we need more skills (or weapons that give more skills) so we can start making “crative” builds. And chars wont all be the same.

Actually i dont agree.

1,You are Rushing levels. You will be underleveled. When i run araund explored, crafted and done stuff i was always ahead of myself. Unlike when i was just rushing.

2, The mechanic of Event chains is good. Somethimes it continues when you fail, somethimes not. And that makes it bit more exciting. Try not to “calculate” when yo uget the most exp, and try not to look at them as “experiance source” they are EVENTS (its in the name) that make the game more exciting, then a “quest araund to lv” game. If you like stable leveling process i suggest WoW or a gen 1.0 Mmo.

3, A lot of events fail when there are no players araud? Ok i agree with that, but they do must fail somethimes. They cant always succeed.
-If you want to handle this as problem (its your personal opinion) i undertand it, but its a problem that is more likely cosued by not fine tuned “difficulty scaling with palyer numbers”.
-A lot of players (me to ) complain that events where centaurs attack in a waves, they cluster up and 2-3 aoe brings down the entire wave, and the 8-9 player is just stading ther and wait till next wave instead of fighting.
This is coused by the same problem(and by another)….The attacks dont scale with players strenght = to few centaurs come, and they die in 2-3 hits. And becouse they cluster up and dont have the inteligance to spread out when they get AOE-d.

-I undertand that its hard to scale the events to the player strenght, but please understand this Anet : We (players) would struggle and fail in a hard battle that is exciting (maybe we would even work harder and make insane efforts to succeed then), then get bored becouse we always win in a easy battle.

But then again i must say it : EVENTS ARE FOR FUN, not for leveling. It exists to bring excitement to the game, thats the whole reson i want them to scale better with players strenght.

SO if you next plan on making an post abaut “bad design” (wont matter if its true or not) then you better point out the problems broken down to points and also point the way to solution, not only “moan” abaut i am short on exp becouse this is bad design.
(you clearly state this in the first paragraph)

And i see that you suggest " more exp" as solution, for the first chain event, but thats just bad idea. If i ware you i would suggest “same ammounts of chains if you succeed and if you fail to”
But you keep forgetting 1 thing : if oyu win if you fail then you get 4 options of events next and after that 8 and so on. You cant keep this up in the long run. Exspecially its only for the sake of good exp? As sead events are for fun not for getting you leveled. Just go to other area. And try to go above 50.

I respect your honest opinion, and dont want to offend you, but sorry i cant fully agree with you. Trough the thout on the Chain event fails and sucsess rewards is an interesting. Worth a full topic if oyu detail it out to problem, solution. Please do so. So this game can inprove. (thats what we all want since we “moan” to make it better)

I was poiting out that even trough Nekro can use all caster weapons his skills are not very “caster” ish.

I totalyl agree with Temper in all ways. (also found the minions dissapointing to)

And i do hope LastDay is right and we do get more weapons.
The scythe is a must have in my opinion. They will add dervish, or scythe atleast. In anycase they know players loved it and will bring it back in some way.

“Adding completely new weapon types and giving them old skills just makes things confusing when you want to add new weapons in expansions.”

And yes i agree, they should make new weapons with new skillsets instead of just “reskinning” them.

First of all, i must state that Nekromancer is the crown of the tipical character i like to play.
If i could pick i picked evil mage instead of Wizards even 15 years ago in D&D, and it still goes on.

But i must give word to my extreme dissapointment and i try to breake it to points why did it all happen. ( i must add to a lot of players)

1,Most players play Nekromancer for its “theme” of dark mysteriousness, and undeads.
They dont specifically deny playing a Wizard, since its firt of all a Wizard (or a mage), that is an all araund “caster” .
And not specifically a Death crazed “curser”. Those the the NPC necromancers.

2, Even if i understand you get skills based on your weapon, and you are supposed to be able to stab your foes if you have a dagger or smack them if you have a staff (since even in RPG you are able to do it) , BUT seriously its more like a decoration, then a tool you can use somethimes if something gets close, and not a CORE element of going there and stabbing them to death.
-I must also add even Elementalist is detailed in this way. He does not stab the enemy, he uses a lightning whip that is channeled trough the dagger.
-And to add more to this, Scepter is not a WAND, you dont spam stuff wit them. You channel spells trough them. The skills are fine for them, but seriously needs a differeant animation, becouse it looks more like “wanding” from wow.

3, I understand that staff is supposed to be the main “caster” weapon, but all the medium and close range skills that are so terribly “non caster” is a LOT of players feel they are forced to use staff, and get even more dissapointed.
- The “caster” ist staff wont offer them “evil dark spells” instead they put marks on the floor? “What am i? Some sort of Rune Priest from Warhammer?” Popped into my mind after 10 mins

4, I seriously didnt wanted to make a long post, but cant stand not to talk abaut minions to.
- If i think abaut a Nekromancer, Skeletons and Zombies pop into my mind, not some sack of bones floating above my head. Or rat sized bugs roaming araund me.
Not only they looks unacceptable, but there can onlybe 5-6 at best. I understand that number is fine, but the minions are so small you dont even notice them.
- The “jagged horror” s are a joke. Not only they deal no real dmg, barely get summoned, and they get 1 hitted. THey cant be even decorative since they wont last more then 3-4 sec at best, and are small as a rat.
-If i would pick “skull mask” i am supposed to get the old school Gw1 minions back atleast…..
So owerall the undead minions ( that is a brand of Nekromancer) are totally dissapointing. Even more then the rest of the character that would be toleratable.

As finish i understand the skills (even with axe and dagger) are themed for the character, but they just dont fit him. In my personal opinion.
Or maybe the skills do fit him, but not in they form, range or animation. (must add the game has mind blowingly detailed animations that rocked me)

In the end i was forced to play a Elementalist that wont fit my personality, and i keep getting the feeling i dont play the right character.
And started to wonder, a simple normal Wizard woudl have been better in stead of a “only nuke only elements” caster.

Conclusion : Eather Nekro must get more weapons for more options “how to play” him. Or needs a full remake to make me play it, even if its the 100% pick for me in the most cases.
I feel sorry myself to, that you didnt hit the point for me with your hard work, but i am still hoping in the future Nekros become what they are supposed to be (atleast for me)

And please exuse my bad english (i also have a bit broken keyboard to). I wonder what the others opinion on this is.

I might have picked a bad name for the topic, but that is seriously the summarized thout behind it.

First of all i must say i am not bored of the game itself or anything, but i had a big frustration of selecting a class, becouse “my so beloved nekromancer” is a totally other kind of character it supposed to be.

And that comes from some points of resons :

1, Characters have only a few weapon choices and that limits NOT ONLY there skillsets, but the style you can and must play.
Lets take Warrior, what if oyu would like to play him more as a tipical “polarm” aoe master, instead of a 2h sword or Maul user. Or just want a polarm in your hand for cosmetic?
(wont matter) You dont have the option, trough its a tipical common weapon that can be found anywhere.

2, I agree a polarm cant be a “skin” for other weapons since it would look lame if you swing it like a sword.
I also admit, making a full set of skills for each weapon added (and for all chars like 2-3 min) would be a LOT of work to balance and animate and all, BUT i must also add :
-You dont actualyl have to make a full new set of skills for them, just rename them and make new animations. Like you do for the most of your skills.
-A LOT of skills are the same as other classes have, you basically just rewamped the animation and the name, you could do the same for the new weapons, so they dont throw over balance.

3, I also agree that some new skills must be added atleast, becouse some palyers dislike some “weapon” play styles and need to have MORE OPTIONS, how to play there character. No matter how you trait, or set up your utility in the end you do almsot the same still.
- This was the whole reson i quit the Nekromancer to. I understand all chars “use” the weapons they hold for skills, but Nekromancer is a caster first of all, does not mean it has to run in and stab ppl. (Ele is not dooing it, that was a nice design, even lightning whip is a better idea)
- I understand you dont want to remake Nekromancer to be more “caster” ish, but a lot of palyers hate the caster ish staff to, becouse all it does is put marks on floor, instead of the “kitten evil spells” they play the character for.
But giving a bit bigger array of options to pick your style of play would mean a LOT to all those players.

I really hope even if not now later on in the game we do get more weapons for all classes, to expand the game styles.
If someone read my other posts on other topics knows i am not moaning, just pointing out things i found worthy to mention or point out.
And first of all this is my opinion, a bit of objective but also personal to as it must be.

I must say there are some really fun events, but there are a LOt of events where the mobs atack, but they cluster up and 2-3 players AOE them down in 1-2 second.

First of all this is BAD !!!

When you have like 12 palyer standing araund “defending” an area from centaurs, and they suddenly appear in a pack of 12 (clustered up in a tiny zone, and moving togather like that) they die in seconds before even reach the players or the area.
-And the 80% of the players just stand there waiting for another wave of mobs.
-Instead of a fun, chaotic exciting battle its boring, bad and dissapointing. And even destroying the mood to continue the game.
-I personally found the events when mobs come from multiple paths a lot more fun. They dont all die in 1 shot, and the battle becomes a bi longer then 3 sec.
- The “immortal till the mob reaches some points” is a good if not a brilliant idea. (just feedback) Solving a lot of problems. But cant help here.
-The event mobs might could get some AOE dmg reduction ? (not sure if it would solve)
-Or balance out the events to scale a bit better with players. (some are way to easy, some are way to hard) i must say i could not really test this in beta, since players zerged events.

OR make body blocking for mobs. THey cant run trough or to close to eachother. It would also help a LOT in dungeons to. You could se the mobs from effects, they would not stand atop of eachother and more important they would not die from 2 aoe.
(or give em more inteligance to spread when getting AOE-d)

Sorry for my bad English, might have misspelled some stuff (and also a broken keyboard) please exuse me.
This is my feedback on events. Its not so terrible, but makes a LOT of events unfun.
They need a bit of caring in my opinion, not even a big, just a bit of “check this out” .

No Guil Halls :( it used to get players togather

I must give voice to my dissapointment in the topic of Guild Halls.

First of all i understand its an option that is not seriously nessecary, but considering what a BIG hit theyware in Gw1, and they could be personally costumized (in a small degree atleast) or even could hold GvG battles, i must say i am really dissapointed in it.

First of all i hard there will be Guild Halls, second its not a big deal to implement.

If i heard right trough its a 100% sure thing that wil be added soon?
If so i must list my suggestions for it, and hope i wont be dissapointed after that atleast.

1,Multiple GH-s in differeant location like in gw1. You can pick witch one to buy (or unlock with influance). This effects the Building itself and the area araund it. (not the content)
2, All crafts get options to craft GH fornitures like : Pictures, Chairs, tables, Statues, fountains and banners with the guild logo.
-Or make them unlockable via influance or PvP points. Some “rare” items would need some certaint criteria for the guild or its members to meet.
3,Guilds can upgrade or atleast make a setup from a given points to upgrade (or costumize) the area araund the Gh, when GvG comes. (this way each guild could make his own personal tipe of tactic : like stronger ballistas, but weaker doors. Or higher walls, or oil at doors.)
-Or make this another option we can buy from influance.

I must add that i suggest using influance for things since later it goes to waste. Even if you keep using all the boosts.

And another thing i must add. In my personal experiance ,A guild hall is a zone where players can meet no matter what level they are, or what they do. They see the other guild members physically and that gets them more personal.
This is a tipical act of social behavior Guild Wars wants and needs.

First of all i must express my approval of the shop in the game.
I find the " option" to buy stuff a LOT better then beeing forced to pay monthly, or even forced to “farm” out the same items i can buy (only to decorate my charcter)

Second i would like to point out, how few item the shop has so faar. A lot of items need to be added, trough i understand you dont want to add all “content” right away.

So i listed a few things we(me and my friends and a lot of ppl in the guild) would like to see in shop.

1, Race, Sex, or appereance change. (i understand race change might not be an option becouse of personal story but the rest would be seriously good)
2, More character costumizations (like hair styles)
3, Longer boosts (for not only killing, becouse its the slightest part of the experiance)
4, Rare and uncommon dye pack.
5, More Weapon an Armor skins. (we would love to see other old Guild Wars skins to)
6, Ranger pets and more mini pets. (maybe not a brand new pet set, but another set of skins for the old ones)

7, Skill effect options. Firstly only small things like : Changing the pictures on the warriors banners.
Later on you can try making 2-3 verion of all skill effects, and let players buy the 1, they like to see when, they use that skill. ( taking example : Elementalists Elite elemental summons have a differeant look, or there should be 2-3 skins for Lich form, or more skins for the Engineers turrets. Summoned thieves have differeant armor ot anything like that )
-This would let players seriously costumize there characters without having to worry abaut balance changes or anything, since its purely cosmetic.
-You can have an option, to only see the original spell effects (or others woul only se the original ones, only you would see your skills in a changed form)

8, An npc helper that helps you loot, and sells junk right away. Or could be set up with loot options and “rarity trehold” to put some certaint items that meet the criteria to Trade post. (like all green items or crafting items)
9, More combat buffs like regeneration. (movement speed would be also nice)

Costumizing characters in pvp?

Since i get a staff as Ele in pvp and thats it. Can i change to scepter or anything? (to same lv pvp items.)

I cant see a thing from all the ppl clustered in 1 place in dungeons. Not to mention all the effects that hide the mobs. Where you get 1 hitted if you dont se the mobs animations.

Sory bu i dont agree with you.

Eles might look like more dmg, but actually the “nomral” dmg is quite low. Since you dont have moch of a “attack speed” and most skills are autocasted, the rest have insane cooldowns. Basically quite impossibile to kill someone with constant regen.

But in other hand Necros have min 4-5 conditions. And those are seriously the most op dmg source in the game for now.

Personally i must agree with MM is useless.
They wont surely reach someone atop of a building, and a good Ranger will destroy you if you can get to safety.

Whell i personally think hammer Guardians are one of the most powefull pvp builds i see.
They win in the 70% in 1v1 vs warriors.
As for pve, i could say Sword has a lot more options and flexibility that you need for any sudden event or enemy.
You might face some more mobile enemy and you lack mobility, so i suggest have anything that compensates hammers weaknesses, and should be fine for most cases.

For the rest of cases, you must use ALL that you have. Hard fights are seriously hard so you have to bring all that you have.
Must be smart at first and know what you need vs that kind of enemy.

I deleted a wrong character. I know its hard, but i dont really look my haracter names, or actually remember witch is witch, so i deleted the wrong 1.

Is there a way to restore my lv 19 Silvary nekromancer?
Its my first character and it grow close to me really. I seriously want to play it now, and i am begging for a restore if i have to, but is there a way to it?

Oh and to anwser the main title :

Nekromancers specilize in exceling at destroying boons (its quite powrfull in pvp and its a must have in bigh fights)
And Spreading conditions for dmg and for crippling the enemy.
Basically you take away the enemy-s adventage. And drop the combat power.

Also excels slithly at boosting the team, with a good support arary of skills.

Whell Ari, you are half right.
1, Yes a cooldown is a good idea, but it actually turns into a bother instead of helpfull in the end.
When you want to make a run but palyers leave becosue something happens (it can always do) and you are cooldowned you get sokittenpissed. You noly have to wait a day to make the instance you so desired. And you might not even have time for it later.
The “you are saved to the dungeon” is the most terrible text i could see in the game in the last years.
This works better with Dungeon farm based games, where you are “delayed” in progress with gear. (exacly as you sead)

4, Whell discuraging “rage and hate” is a good thing. I also think like you, ragers and haters are born from the setting of the game mostly, and not from base behavior.
There are real cases when there is 1 person destroying the mood and the party and kick does help then. But its actually rare. Most players get like that from the frustration mostly.

-So basically the “debuff” from the “leave” or kick is a way to drastic measure. I pesonall had the tipical crappy team who did the dungeon like 2 times and i alredy done it like 300 times and wont listen and in the end I get kicked for some stupid reson they are responsible actually. And i cant even find another party becosue of a stupid debuff i get from idiots?
Vote kick is a bad otipon also. Players just midlessly click anything just to get on with dungeon. There is no real voting, mostly the only decent players get kicked who dare to say out the truth laud. And remember…stupidity is always in vote favor.

Also, who makes someone in the team more suited to Judge others then anyone other? Noone. So sorry i cant agree with this. Atleast not fully. The idea itself is not bad trough, but not in the way we seen it so faar.

Does anyone know if Anet is planing to make more options in gemstore ,like :

1, Character sex, or appereance change
2,Race transfer
3, More armor and weapon skins
4,More and longer exp and other boosts
5,Guild influance boost or the influance itself.
6,Player and Guild name change

-I personally dont know if i should roll a Male or Female elementalist. i mostly play males, but i seriously think to roll a female right now. But dont want to regret it at lv 50-_- so i am hoping for a sex change in gemstore….but still nothing

Ok here are my thouts for you first :

1,Staff is a really awesome thing to general pvp with a dagger-focus in switch.
You simply lay down 3-4 mark and start hitting the enemy. They walk trough them, and you switch to dagger. Most mobs alredy die from 2-3 hits.
If you need to kite araund stay on staff and keep snaring the enemy, and use the dot skills meantime.
-Best works with pet utility skills. And MM build.

2, In pvp you have so many builds its hard to begin with, but try making a “Well-Boondancer” build. With scepter and focus, You spread conditions and your wells make the boons to conditions, also make your own conditions to boons. With decent traits you can place wells and get insane powerfull when switched to dagger you steal back hp and melee dd. Or just spam Feast of Corruption when your conditions are spread to atleast 2-3 players. You will destroy teams like this. and 2v1 easy.
-Think of builds like this in pvp.
-Staff works a slight better in WvWvW, or axe on doors and other stuff.

3, The low dmg is not only your concern. Try checking a Elementalist. THey get 2 hitted and even lower dmg and less cc.
4, I personally rerolled nekro becosue i find the staff “marks on floor” skills not really “caster” ish. And to moch mid range skills with melee weapons like axe and dagger. Instead of real spells, like a “mage(or wizard)” supposed to have. And scepter is more like a wand in the game then a real scepter you focus your spells trough.
And at least but not last, the MM is not really fun. You just put in the minion skills and let them support you. Aside from that it needs no real “mantaining” liek in gw1, it is weak. Minions get 3-4 hitted. And stronger mobs 1 hit them. They deal no real dmg, only when tey are 3-4 atleast. THe “jagged horrors” you ake via trait are a totally stupid. They die in 2-3 sec before they can even move. THey supposed to last atleast 30-120 sec. So you can have a small army that decays slowly when you dont fight. They deal low dmg anyhow and die from 1 hit anyway so whats the point. They are not that powrfull anyway, so atleast make them look cool swarming araund the necro.
And not to mention i prefer skeletons and wraiths and zombies, not these….mutated fleshthinggolems.

5,For Dungeons i heart they are extremely effective. They are tough and keep the team alive. Not sure how but a lot of players have the same opinion.

-So i advice you to roll another char uless you fanatically love the Hero concept of a dark mage like thing sumonning undead. (like me) Even i rerolled to Ele, trough i would loved a concept of playing a “wizard” instead of this 2.

Taking away the trinity was an brilliant idea, and it would work, BUT :

1,Mobs have no body blocking and can stack up inside eachother, or atleatkittenclose. That aside, even melee palyers swarm them, and even effects spam on them. Basically i cant even see the mobs itself. How are we supposed to watch for “attack animations” ???

2, Making a dungeon hard is totally fine by me, i actually enjoyed the dungeons. With all the traps they made the feeling of a D&D adventure…a bit. BUT making the mobs 2 hit you, leaving you no place for mistakes all the time is not really hard, its irritating.
It feels like the game is cheating. When i palyed Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and had like 180 Arc Angels and rolled ower the map, and the enemy just had 1 base, and suddenly rushed out with 10000 titants i was like : WTf nice cheat to be hard.

Its not hard, its the same as in Heroes….a bit lame boost for the enemy to seem like hard.

3, THe dodge attacks is fine idea, trough i must admit, rolling in and out every 4-5sec is not really my idea of a battle. Its ok in real battle you step closer and away all the time, but this is not seriously “step closer and away”. We keep tiger jumping all araund all the time. Looks funny to me.
That aside, its ok you dodge some melee attacks and some aoe skills, but what you basically do with ranged nukes and skills. The most of them hit me anyway even if i dodge them. The animation lands behind me miles away still i get the dmg mostly…

4,Pets are 90% dead in dungeons, they really need to be made resistant to Aoe effects, ot atleast take reduced dmg from them.
OR as Anet devs are smart, make the pets more inteligent. Make them dodge same way as palyers do. They see an aoe coming they run back.

-So personally i think the new concept of dungeos is like a dream. BUT they seriously need to be fine tuned.
I hope the devs dont get dissapointed in the feedbacks, and keep to the tipical Fantasy rpg mindsetup.
But adjust on the body blocking for palyers and a bit more tactical thinking for the mobs instead of 2 hitting players.

Dungeons are also good for 1 thing. Make you realize what class you actually want to play. After rolling warrior i realized i am more of a range tipe, now i cant decide play Nekro or Ele. Not sure witch is how in Dungeons, but i guess i start with Ele.

No. Why?

1, A LFG will make players lfg and run instances a lot, taking te players aways from the world map.

2,Dungeons are not seriously part of the “progress” here like in wow, you dont need to “dungeonrun” 20 times a day. You can find players for that 1-2 times a day quite easy.

3,Even if you do make 4-5 dungeon runs a day, when you hit higher lv and make runs for armor pieces, all you need is a global LFG chat, not a whole option. Exspecially since any class is good for dungeon. You dont need trinity.

4, A faceless LFG option destroys the party. When you just click and get inside next with 5 random ppl, its easy to start insulting and hating, since you can rejoin anytime.
Instead, when you have to look for palyers, and make them come, you think twice before starting to hate, the player you convinced yourself to come. I like this thinking, becosue it gets the players friendly, as they should be since its all abaut palying togather as a team. Since it a MMO rpg

I didnt made these up, those are mostly the thouts behind the development of the game. I also heart a lot of these alredy before betas even existed.
So i really hope these anwser your question. (besides i also woul like to se a lfg chat witch is global atleast., trough i didnt give it in depth thout yet, how it would impact the game)

I call it boondancer. Works quite well in pvp. I won a lot of 2v1 to wit this 1.
You apply conditions asap→well under yourself todispell enemy conditions and turn them to boons→ dispells corruptions you well him to and turn them to condition> and Feast of corruption on enemy. Becosue of 3-5 condition every time on each enemy you will spam aoe destruction like hell.
With dagger you get the invincible mode for healing.

I had to struggle a bit to find out a lot of stuff Traits say. Like sredding skills ? And i realized it might be misspelled and its actually shattering skills for mesmer.

Whell first of All Thank you ! For all the anwsers and inspiring.

I waited this game since it was announced. I seriously loved Gw1. But might been a bit dissapointed in this. Mostly becosue of body blocking (missing) and i found combat a bit to simple.
But i must also add, it can be quite tactical somethimes. There are also builds here trough a LOT less, then in gw1, but its still fun, exspecially pvp. So i AM looking forward to play the game. I just cant seriously decide.

I read a lot of threads on classes to lately. Witch class has witch problems.
And you are right. I should seriously not bother who plays what.
I would propably still play Nekro if i find a decent “nuker” weapon.

All say to use staff, and i did for a long time, but those “marks on the floor” dont really give me the tipical “caster” feeling. Scepter is more like a wand in the necros hand.
Dagger and Axe are melee and mid range. The utility skills and traits are really good, and “boondancer” build totally destroys in pvp. But still i cant enjoy it fully. Trough Nekromance is the tipical my personality. (maybe later when more weapons come out)

As for Ele. I guess i give it a shot then. If anyone got some feedback on all this go on i gladly listen to it. I am actually quite happy that the community is this brilliant.

I am personally a BIG fan of Guilds Wars 1, and i was waiting the game for years, cheering for it.
But i have to admit, trough the game IS awsome (dont take me wrong) i have mayor issues with it, that made me dissapointed in like 30% rate.
It is the tipical : I love to play the game, but anytime you play you think abaut it, and leaves a sou taste in your mouth.

So here are my problems and questions :

1, In dungeons, the most of the mobs have insane dmg, witch should be dodged and avoided, witch is an awesome idea actually, BUT!
Mobs and players cluster up in like 2 players woth area and spam skills.
Seriously doubt anyone can actualyl tell when mobs do anything at all, from all that effect and 3 melee and 2 mob stacked up in that tiny place. And in te end ppl end up beeing 2 hitted constantly, not becosue of the difficulty, but becouse they dont know what to do in fights, becosue they cant see a thing.

2, In big fights goes the same. Its so chaotic (witch is a bit fun somethimes) nonoe can seriously react. The game is super nontactical. Unlike Gw1, witch handled this awesomely. here you mostly just spam in some aoe, or your nukes.

And to point out 1 and 2 are linked at a point. When an event comes, and centaurs rush in. All the 10 does it the same time in the same small area, and palyers just wipe em out in 2 aoe. And the rest of 3-4 players just stading there without having (or be able) to do anything.
And to add up another problem coming from that, when you aoe into that 10 mob at events they rush you and instantly die mostly. It would not be a problem, becosue you suecided, but its constatly like this in story mode. I keep runing from 5-6 mobs. And finally some ranged one destroys me while i kite melees.

So here is my question abaut this all : WHY IS THERE NO BODY BLOCKING ??? Like in gw1?
Serously lets cut the ….rope. And forget the stupid moanings like : Ohh players will abuse it and will block others to get to somewhere….
Becosue its all abaut development and design. ANYTHING CAN BE SOLVED. If you want to.
Like take this : Body blocking applies on you in most pvp zones, and pve areas, and dungeons, but it turns of in towns and areas where it CAN be a problem. (like crowded quest npc-s)

Whell, my serious question is, what to play?

I see a lot of players struggling for days like me to decide wat exacly to play, and i see multiple resons beind it.
1,Players find characters boring, becosue they keep using 3-4 skills wit each weapon, and tey are limited to 3-4 weapons mostly. (they like to use)
-Solution would be to make more weapons. Even if thes start to have similliar skills wont mater, its still a differeance. Players wont feel bored.

2, Classes feel the same. Warrior using rifle or bow feels like almost a tief using a bow or ranger using axe…almost the same skill setup. A spamable 1, a special 2, a snare 3, a bouncing attack or aoe. and so on…You all know what am talking abaut if you did try.

Thats all i want to say abaut this becosue the other issues are for other topics, but have an impact on this.

So i am in the same boots as them. I cant decide.
I started as necromancer, but didnt feel right. I always wanted to play Nekromancer in rpg games. But the skillset is just not right for me. Minions die almost instantly, deal almost no dmg. And dont really define te class as they should be. Like in Gw1.

After that i wanted to try something melee inspired by Sword art online. But didnt wanted to go Warrior becosue there are sokittenmany alredy. So i rolled guardian. It was fine, but my friend coming next week decided to paly that to so i wanted to make someting other.

After that i started warrior, but after lv 35 it became boring, and i realized melee is not my thing after the first dungeon. I cant se a thing from mobs from all the effects and players and mobs stacking up on eacother. And i die from 1-2 hits, if i dont dodge an attack that comes from a mob i cant even see. Seriously cant understand why cant they make :
-Body blocking scales. Like in Gw1. And to solve players blocking eacother, remove the blocking in areas where it can be a problem.

So after that i made a Mesmer. Currently i play it, but i find it terrible after lv 15. The dmg is insanely low, and it takes ages to build up illusions witch even fail. In pvp they get 1 shooted from a aoe, and ppl start with marking the real you. Also if someone stand on some hight they cant explode on them, and if they move its even worse.
So i gave up. Cant decide seriously.

Ranger seems fun, and i mostly play classes like them, and has a lot of usefull support like spirits and traps, witch is fun, but its totally so mainstream every third player is ranger, and all you basically do is spam shots at enemy, and kite. Witch i am sick of after 6 years of playing hunter.

Thief also seems fun, can even be a ranger a bit, but basically all you do i stab stab stab, becosue it lacks utility.

I tried Enginer, but i found it terrible. Its ok in pvp, but in pve its extremely boring. In first like 15-20 lv you have 2 weapons mostly. And as oyu get packs you realize all you do is Spam nukes. Aoe nuke, dot nuke, snare nuke. And becosue he only has 2 weapons basically (3 with the shield) he must use his utility skills to be able to keep up, but that basucally takes the slot from the utility. And it becosme a boring : nuke nuke nuke.

The only thing that left is Elementalist. Witch i personally like, but its so extremely mainstream, every second player you come across is Ele.
Its kind of fun becosue of the extreme ammounts of skills. But in the end you realize, all you do is spam nukes like any other class.
Excluding the fact the utility skills are atleast exciting, like summoning elementals and area manipulation spells, knockbacks, and aoe heals.
But still, after practicing pvp to rank 11, i realized, cooldowns are extreme, and deal not that awesome dmg. And you cant be mobile or use out really the terrain like Ranger, becosue you cant spam stuff from above. If you do you miss out the reson you are so flexible with you skills, becosue you lack the range wit most skills.
Not to mention his atunement skills all togather are like the other classes. They have a spamnuke, a class specific snare, dot, aoe ,shield a block and hit back and so on. Just in elemental theme.
-I personally would loved to se a Tipical Dungeons & Dragons oldschool wizard, with lots of tricks and arcane spells, desintegrate, familliars, or teleport. Sumon muddy terrain, levitate and those tipical manipulation spells i so miss from rpg -s lately.

So i hope noone takes this as moaning, it was more planned to be a question….what to play ??? I seriously cant decide. (and sorry if i misspelled something, my english is not so awesome as it should be)

Mesmers - How do they work?

I personally found mesmers fun. Mostly in pvp trough.

They are unquestionably powerfull in pvp, even with there low dmg.
1,They have lots of tricks (witch you always need in pvp) , confusion is the worst enemy of a player in pvp.
2, They can be range and hybrid.
3,Lots of utility, conditions, boons and other wide area of skills. Witch is rare.

Not sure in pve. I personally found dmg seriously lacking.
Not bad in dungeons, but its more of a combat and game issue, that mobs 2 hit anyone, and you cant even tell when you should dodge, or defend, becouse you CANT SE A THING from all the effects. Not even the mob itself is what or witch one. Since they stack up on the same spot…(some body blocking would be terribly awesome)

So yes surviavability CAN be a hardcore problem in dungeons if a mob gets agro on you and you have to kite him. You will surely get 1 hitten when they reach you.

Besides all this. You have to understand really early for Mesmer : boons and conditions. You have to know witch 1 does what, and know when you should use witch one.
Also better read all the skills and try to memorize witch does what condition. And Make your traits based on that.

Whell i was wondering this whole thing myself.
I personally did it 1 time. Actually got there when some portals got killed and Shadow behemot appeared.

Not sure if those portals are the portals you need for the heart. But it must be some special chain of events or just really random since it does happen really rarely.

I personally found the whole battle lame, since as warrior i missed all portals he opens. (even when i stood on top of them, and no matter where or how i faced them)
And also missed on his head. Could only hit him with bow. And the adds ofc.
Besides the fact the battle itself is boring anyway. All you do is dodge aoe (witch is easy) Kill crappy adds. And Deal Damage (dd) his head when he is screaming….Quite dissapointing, but the battle itself looks cool.
