Dont bother lad. Anet wont TOTALLY care for players…not even slightly.
In the past years the players that had the hopes up for a good game after Gw1, got so dissapointed, and ill used by Anet, they kept making posts, Constructive ideas, made carefull built up step by step so they please all sides, and what did Anet do? GIVE A kitten!
In the past years players prayed to atleast get some minor content, like weapons, or ATLEAST PROMISED things like guild halls, but no…..
Those things could have save atleast a bit of face for Anet, after SO TERRIBLY FAILING with this incredibly crappy combat.
I could write a book on what the problems are, but let me summ it up :

1, Its boring since there are no combat roles, you cant costumize your gameplay AT ALL. Wont matter what class you play, it feels almost the same. Its actually making the game less rpg then other mmo-s. And its funny since you promised it will be MORE of an rpg then other mmo-s.
You promised, that we can do it all, but in reality you cant do ANY of it. Since you took them all away. How can TAKING be more? (unless its extremely complex and is more of a problem then good…its not the case here)
Not to mention FAVORITISM is not on the same level its WORSE then in other mmo-s. It didnt fix LFG ing…its TERRIBLE in the game.
I would rather wait 10 min more for a “healer” then have a kitten to the core combat system.

I mean for kitten sake, look at Tera…its a c category game, and is still more successfull, since it has a really good combat part.

2, Its dodge or “die”. Its simple as that…thats combat….Spot the 0.3 sec cast hand gesture in the 2 billion firestorms, and dodge it. If you cant you get downed, and thats all you do is…run and get downed ppl up….Kills the whole tactical sense of the game.
I would let ppl take 2-3 hits instead of instagibbing them, and remove downed state. . . .It would make heals to have atleast a MINOR sense even if there is no trinity…BUT NO ANET GIVES A kitten on bothering or admiting how kitten combat is.

These are only the tips of the ice berg….but fanatic fans wont admit it….I was once one…in Gw1….sorry but Gw2 is just kitten as it is, and mostly thx to the terrible design…Trinity could fix it…but tards wont admit it..

The only thing in my mind when i hear Gw2 is : Holly kitten kitten ANET, those kittens ruined the good Gw1 into this kitten, when they promised the heavens and gave us this kitten.
I had HOPE for like a YEAR after beta…but we didnt even get a kittennig weapon or anything.
I might have a decent opinion on almost all topics, but “faith in Anet” is the ONLY THING i cant even listen to.

Logging back after checking up the “news” on HOT, i realized after 10 min….no ammount of weapons, classes or anything can simply outweight the terribly made combat.
1,Downed state is still terribly irritating. Instead of be able to take a few hits then to get instagibbed, you get downed…and you are constantly downed, and run around and get ppl up.
2, Combat is all about dodge or “die”.
3, No roles….isntead of the promised we can do all, we can not do any, that made combat boring since there are no roles you can take up…how could TAKING AWAY EVER IMPROVE ANYTHING? (unless its complexitiy is proving to be a problem….hardly the case here) No matter of kittened up kitten logic can EVER kittening explain that to me, because its simpy not true. Its the motherkittening rule of nature.

Combat LOOKS good, its fluid, and it has well made animations, but clearly the system is totally boring. You might had good intentions, but they are terribly implemented…like half finished….
So my opinion on HOT? Wont change a THING ! You can (and will) flame me, wont change my opinion. Moderators can take down my post, still wont make it less true…Np….if thats the kind of community we have in Gw2, no wonder its going this way.

O ye and you can hate my english…but wont change the fact i did not learn it ever in my life, and what i say less true.

Wont matter anymore, how many weapons you bring into the game. It did like a year ago….but not now.
The combat will be the same boring dodge or die. Trough that wont matter, since all you do is run around and get up downed ppl….battles with more then 5 players are mindless skillspamming…
No one here understands how utterly kitten Gw2 combat is? Or ppl that understud it already left?

I would channel Gw1 back to this game instead….because Gw2 is clearly grasping in Gw1 s success. But most of the fans that let you Anet devs make Gw2 already left, and all you have now is unloyal players, so good luck and have fun with the crap you shoved at us.

Bringing trinity back would be like the ONLY thing to save this crap…..but wont happen…combat is still ultraboring even with expansion…the design is crap to its core, nothing but a rework from base could change that.

THe points is : It was and would have been one of the best features of the game. As it was in Gw1. It was promised, and they did not give it to us. In my opinion its better late then never, trough i think its actually….to late…most ppl that cared, dont care for the game itself anymore, since they promised to much and gave nothing.

Yes, I have to agree. They probably have the next few years planned, or at least sketched up.

These are the original concept arts of Guild Wars 2. I personally like them a lot better, not sure why they switched style. Don’t want to blame on money and marketing always, but it must be the case.

Queen Jennah weds Logan, and gives birth to Prince Rurik the second.
There is a prophecy, that the prince will change the fate of Tyria from certaint destruction.
Queen Jennah gets killed on a diplomatic mission, A charr tribune sacrefices himself to save Prince Rurik, from the attacking centaurs.
Logan takes the throne till Prince Rurik comes to age. Meantime the order of whispers unveils, that the centaur attack had nightmare courts hand in it.

Logan swears to exterminate the centaurs once and for all. Not to mention the tension with the sylvari escalates after Scarlets incident with LA. The charr seeing the humans resolve, finally see them as equals. The charr and humans form an alliance, and become true brothers in arms.

Meantime using up the political disturbance and lack of support from the humans and charr, the nightmare cour manages to poison the mother tree, leaving only roots. (that do grow back in time)

Caith takes control of the Sylvari reforming them, blaming the humans and charr. Forms the Thornguard, and elite warrior class along with the Wrathguard and Tidebreakers and manages to get rid of the Nightmare court once and for all.
Without the mother tree, the sylvari change (to there original concept art). Darker more resilent. There race finally understands what sorrow is, like the more elder races alredy do.

The Asura decide to aid the Sylvari, as they feel, they are responsible to lead the younger race to a better path, while the inquest ally with Human and Charrs making the Asura race divided.

The Norn getting political pressure from both sides, ask the kodan for help and form the Northrend wind alliance, with the support from quaggans.

There are rumors that Caithe awoken a Green elder dragon, and its effecting the mother growing mother tree, its becoming thorny and twisted.

As all out WAR seems inevitable, the portals to the mist become weak, unstable, but real live battlefield zones on certaint maps become active. THe humans and charr are expanding towards the cristal desert for mines, for there almost futuristic weapons( charr and inquest influence) the Sylvari and Asura are looking for resources in maguma. Developing a mix of Nature and Technology.

The story is mostly crap as it is, to my experience so far (2 years), considering all the opinions I heard from all the players I had talk with or seen on map chat. And I agree.

I could add the “this isn’t rpg as you promised” topic, but it would split the discussion to much. Lets keep it to the “living and personal story”, the mood, and background of characters (as it is/should be a part of story).

Problem? When I think about the topic, 2 things come to my mind :

1, Artwork is way to good and expressing a big deal more depth to the game and fantasy it is representing. When you log in, you don’t even remotely feel the same thing as you feel looking at artwork.
Taking this further, analyzing, why the artwork feels better, I come to the point to feel, it not dark enough.
By not any chance I mean it should be a World of Darkness game, or Warhammer 40k. No, what I think, its to general, mainstream. Which is clearly not what most Guild Wars fans would expect.
By all means the game is starting to feel like WoW-s story line…chaotic and rushed. Not true to its original concept, which is going to kill of a big part of player base, and make them hate the devs. and the game as it is. Same way most Warcraft fans hate WoW and Blizzard. Because they expect Warcraft 2 feeling.

2, Characters and players feel silly, non “realistic” even to an mmorpg. And there is no point of argument here, day by day we all experience the players finding npc and plot and “acting” to be pathetic. Anyone says different either disabled chat, or didn’t even seen personal story, or just skipped “cutscenes”, and didn’t even care for what is going on.
-As a side note : Cutscenes are terrible, they are basically “2 person talking”. That is not a cutscene my dear devs! Gw1 had good cutscenes, you felt your character yourself. You felt yourself in the action, there doing heroic stuff. Why did you change them?

Here is my suggestion. Its an EXAMPLE, not something I want exacly to be implemented, but as a direction example, how could you fix this pathetic direction your non progressing living story could develop on. And change the mood of the game without real artwork, item skins or anything like that.

So we are getting another mindkitten living story, with 0 worth of content?

Years…and when I say YEARS I MEAN YEARS are passing without getting a single weapon or guild hall or other decent permanent content. Don’t even want to mention features, since they added ONE last month WOAH, hardcore progress.
Psss (whispers) other games get a whole expansion worth of content by this time.

Gw2 kind of feels like its still in beta. Don’t even bother calling me stupid…its my guildmates opinion, and I only agree.

So lets hope they give us another jumping puzzle, that is sooooo MMORPG ish…really -_- Really I came here to be Lara croft, not to combat the elder dragons that treathen Tyria.

Anyhow…I better not get into this kitten to deep..would take a library to write it all down.
On topic : Guild wars 2 artwork is like 10 times better then the game itself. Not sure, why. Truly, these excellent pieaces of art inspire me, and get me in the mood for indepth fantasy….then I get this extremely kittenty not even nearly anything I could call rpg. more like half platform console game, with some half decent system, so it looks like an mmorpg atleast by cover….So i look at these amazing artworks and it gives a really sour taste to my mouth.

Oh and sorry for all grammar kittenes…but i never learned English..nor do i wish to learn it on Gw2 forums. Happy day.

Content? Yeah its supposed to be an MMO RPG….and we get jumping puzzle like kitten for years…but not a Guild Hall? No GvG? No new weapons? For years?
If you think getting content destroys the game, u suggest play single player games.
As a side note…they hardly added any content like that the balance is still only getting worse…so your point is invalid.

Oh I am not….What I am shocked is, that ppl still play this, and claim the game does not need content, it needs fine tuning to the current content…after 2 years of 0 content basically and less balance then it had -_-

Excellent post.
I admire your writing skills. If I could point out problems this amazing way players would be raging and demanding content.
Sadly, there are to many trolls here that are happy with the current nothing basically.

“bloody care anymore.” That just made me smile :d hardly see anyone use “bloody” anymore..to bad. You Irish?

On the rest…Perfectly agree. I would say…nothing more to say, but there actually is…pages…maybe even books could be filled where they went wrong with a good idea.

On second thought trough, I admit it, I also think the biggest problem are class content. Maybe not 100% but to lack of class content combat became flat. You have 2-3 option each class that is forced on you, or you are useless.
Not to mention the favoritism of berserkers and bullkitten, that was supposed to be fixed by taking away trinity, but instead it only crippled the variety of combat, classes and the characters options.

Direction of content? I don’t understand why players even bother playing this game and dare to say they are playing RPG….“look we got a new jumping puzzle” is not a content for an RPG. It is, but not after you ONLY get them. And not a Guild Hall you can build up for example.
RPG dies when you cant wear any kind of armor you think of, and use any kind of weapon you like to your taste. (to my opinion, but that’s another topic)
Seriously there isn’t even a mention of classes in the game. It wont matter that you are a brutalic 10 iq barbarian warrior or a noble elementalist that is secretly planning to be a necromancer. It wont matter, the game wont let you decipher magic symbols on a locked door to open it, or give you a choice to bash open it….its not RPG….and I remember how they yelled : This will bring back the word RPG next to MMO…

Right now this isn’t even an mmo. Feels more like some facebook kitten, where I have a shared auction house. Truly you are right, hardly covers mmo.

I am personally struggling to decide what to do like a half year ago. I come back play a month then leave for again. Then I think, maybe they give us lots of content next week. Or info on explansion that can “save” the game. Like factions did to Gw1. Then I come back, and after a month I realize I don’t know what class to play, realize I hate them all, then I realize I hate the game itself. And uninstall cursing myself for wasting time on this kitten.

This aint the way to do mmo-s lads….

Optical Audio 5.1? How?

Update on this :
I managed to test the Speakers with testing “supported formats” 1 by 1 DTS and Doby, and it does work in 5.1. Atleast i hear it tests all the Speakers.
When i test the Realtek Digital Output icon it still tests only stereo. As i see it wont even tryes to test the other speakers, so i assume its stereo by default?

I really dont know what to do anymore. No one could suggest anything on other forums like harware pro or chip magazine or any place i did try.
Anyone suggestions?

Hi peeps!

So i realized i am bored to hell with pve, and want to pvp only from now on (probably).
I really like hot join games and was wondering what classes are the best in your opinion?

So faar most ppl say Necromancer-Mesmer and Thief.
Not sure what to think, i seen some really tough Engineers. Thieves surely 1 hit me, both my friend is playing one, not sure if that would be a good idea to roll.
I like Mesmer becouse it looks neat, has lot of weapons, i like necro becouse it is a necro
But really not sure. I think i decide from the top 3.

What are your opinions?

So i am wondering…what might be better in general “hot join” spvp?
Not exacly tournament like 5v5, more like random play button games.

I rolled Necro some time ago, but cant get past 30…i feel its not really the necro i loved in Diablo 2 and Gw1. I prefer the classical taste to it. But still its a necromancer, and i like the theme itself in some way (might imrpove later on with expansions hopefully anyway)
And it does seem to be nice for PvP. My biggest problem with it is : Weapons. I dont really find the small weapon selection satisfying. Other classes have a wide selection to look good…Necro hardly..

So my other choice became Mesmer exacly because of that. It has Gs and Pisol and Sword and kitten, and is able to look really good, but the gameplay style is not my taste.
I assume its araund the same level in PvP as necro, still i think it comes down to viability in PvP, since i dont really like the theme of any of these 2, and i dislike the gameplay as in general.

Any tips or suggestions?

Optical Audio 5.1? How?

Greetings!

So the story is long, but i try to make it short :

I changes Motherboard to a Ashrock 990Fx extreme3.
It has an optical out (it was inportant to me) so i can plug in my Samsung 5.1 i used before my older Motherboard went crap.

The Service installed windows8.1 on the pc, and wrked fine, but somehow sound was not working. When i finally got it working (dont remember how, or what i did exacly) it only had option to change volume and balance as stereo. I realized when i switch to “speaker” as active out it has volume control for 5.1, but there is no sound since that must be the non optical out. (there would be sound, if i had non optical plugged in)

The other Option is Realtek Digital Output, has only volume control for stereo. When i chose that one i have stereo sound, trough only optical is plugged in…so it must be the optical out? Why is it stereo only?

I dont even see any other option. I alredy reinstalled my pc to windows 7 and the problem is the same.
I installed Motherboard drivers, the new video card drivers, even downloaded the last driver from realtek site. And nothing….

i still remember when i had my old motherboard i had option to change volume at balance settings in windows control panel – sound. And could change playback to dolby digital and 5.1 at Realtek Hd audio manager..

PLEASE HELP!
I am struggling with this for 2 days almost 20 hours by now. And there is nothing on the web((((((

Hello peeps.

So i was wondering, could anyone suggest a decent Pc setup?
I bought a full new setup like 1.5 years ago. And did run fine till is started playing Tera. It had real bad problems with fps in PvP, when it should not have.
I asked a lot of ppl and finally came to decision my cpu sux (actually it did not, but Tera was just not optimalized for this kind of amd-s) .
So i went out bought a 8 core brutal cpu for my already really good motherboard an perfectly compatible one, and my motherboard fry after i put it in…when i put back my old one…it didnt start up -_-
So in the end i have some kittenty Asrock motherboard (that does not even have an optical out, so i cant even use my 5.1) that costs like 54 ish dollars. (if i consider Dollar to be 220Huf ish)

an Asus Hd 6950 with 2 gb gddr5 (was like 360 dollar ish)
Some AMD fx 8350 4ghz
And 4 gigs of ram (not sure what kind of.) Trough i am using a temporary windows 7 32bit. (going to use my 64 bit after i buy new pc…dont wish to reinstall till then)
The cooling is fine, there are supposed to be no problems with the Pc, but the speed is unberable kitten!!!!!!!
I mean when i bought this config it was like 1000 dollar ish. it was the top of middle class pc-s and ran Bf3 Gw2 and some other games, on max without effort. Now it struggles with Gw2 on minimum. I cant even play games like Total War rome 2. Even had problems in LoL -_-

So i think there is some problem with my pc, and i wish to get a new CPU, vid card and Motherboard. (i think Hd and kitten should be fine…maybe switch this 2×2 gig of memory to a single 8 gig, or 2×4)
I had a lot of problems in the past 15 years with Amd, still used it…had good bargains, maybe time to try Intel? I keep hearing amazing things from i5 and i7.
Something that can run Bf4 on max without real problems, or atleast Gw2 on max without shutter in WvW…but atleast in 10v10 spvp.
So could anyone suggest a good gaming rig for me? I am willing to spend like 230 dollar ish on motherboard and another 230 ish on CPU. The vid card can go up to 450 ish.

Greetings to everyone!

I wish to keep the foreword short, trough its hard, this topic has a lot of background thoughts, R.P.G. philosophy. A lot of personal taste and experiance also matters.

In short, i wish to talk about the way Guild Wars 2 is handling technology .
- I am asking your opinions
-Expressing my own
- Interested in between solutions, that benefit players that wish to keep, all that is generally good, but also advances the game.

How Guild Wars 2 handles technology (in my opinion) :
Good. Its hard to hit the balance to introduce “high tech” in any fantasy R.P.G. But Gw2 did it well. Asura and Charr made a good background for the world that is visible in Gw2.
By that i mean the *weapon skins, items you are interacting with in the world, some maps, even part of story, and a whole class dedicated to this
. This is a lot of content, so its not in moderation, but it still fitting, and that means good design in my book.
Not to mention not only a lot but also a bit advanced, but even that feels all right. In fact, i think Asura technology, should be more accessible on player side.

1, Since the world is so full of technology and so “common”, that even Warriors and common soldiers can use rifles, asura gates ect… i think “technology” should be more accessible. I mean, it is, but then its not detailed very well.
Before you jump me (for some reason you might feel, you have to “defend” your game), let me explain why did i think this.

We have a class dedicated to this. In fact the whole class was put in to support the right of technology to be in the game. But when i think about the fact, that it only has 2 weapons (plus shield) i realize, they did not gave him more, because they did not want to make (for example) flamethrower weapons, that would only be usable by 1 class. And they probably did not wanted to give a weapon like that, to a mesmer -_- i guess….and it was a right decision. So he only has them as kit, whits is ok, but it still could have more “normal” weapons, that maybe other classes could use to, if they went in a bit, and think things trough on this topic.

I mean, why do engineers only have a “stick and stones” feeling rifle turret, and use an asura lightning plasma rifle. Why cant it have (another skin maybe?) a floating cube shape laser floating turret? No joke…that would actually be kind of normal in Gw2 if you only make a blink at Asura main city. Or why cant they use golems? Or Panoptic chainguns? Or a bit more “spinal blades” looking hobo sack?
So i came to this question….why is the player side usability of technology only limited to “stone age” tech , that is like represented as charr technology.
I dont think the player side interaction should be limited to Charr tech, it should also let players use Asura technology, even if it is at least in visual.

I am sure many of you could came up with a lot of answers…but if you truly look deep inside, it feels a bit like an excuse.

So what is your opinion on this? What are your ideas?

Looking at the posts here, the 80% of posters did not read a letter, and is making senseless and agressive replies, that have nothing to do with the topic of the post…Please dont just read the title, read its contents before making comments, or you are wasting up my efforts to create a constructive thread on the topic.

As for all the posters here that are blindly think, that the game would need a total remake to implement a better and more fun combat system, that the game needs gravely, to avoid this extreme favor of zerkers and warriors, here are some side notes :
1, You dont have to redesign the whole game, the “trinity” you hate so muck is alredy in it. They just need to rebalance the game stats to make them viable.
2, This extreme reliance on dodges is killing the tactical combat. Bosses should learn not to 1 shot players, so support skills are more viable, and support builds become more viable. *
- Note to this : *Try to improve the visibility and reaction time to instagib skills at least, so we can react to them
(learn from Tera or something, players dont say it has the best combat from all mmo-s, because they fanboy it)
3,There are stats for damage, and “tanking”, but no real stats that benefit support. Seems like a half finished job to me instead of a purpose full deconstruction of trinity to me. Improving the stat for heals and adding one for boons would fix a LOT of things alredy on this topic.

Another few words, i forgot to say :

1, This game might be Buy to Play, but it still needs players to function. Dont be so quick to send of other players, because you dont want to hear “moaning”.
-Side note : Getting players back is a lot harder then getting new ones, or avoiding the loss of players.

2, A lot of my players in my community (online and offline to) are considering the game to be still in like beta state. And i realized, it kind of does feel like it.

You might say, but its complete and functioning….yeah it is but it is like this :

Hmmm. I do not think you should get to much credit for this post, the forums are FULL with posts like this. do not get me wrong, it only proves that you are 100000% right, and i am perfectly agreeing with you. But you do get credit for making such grand effort to put it in decent form! +1

First of all i made 20+ topics about excellent solutions, ideas, that should be implemented (and are basically minor adjustments), that could improve the game thousand folds, but the community is terrible on this topic.
A lot of players are actually against of ANY improvements to the game. Or in fact any CONTENT ! (i do not get this…)
Guild halls, more legendary player housing, GvG, more weapons, skills, more viable combat roles besides general “dodge and damage”.

The combat is 100% reliant on dodge, bosses 1 shot you, no point of heals and support. Downed state killing pvp…i could go on…and you could argue with me…but the big % of player who already left and rarely come back to check on game state (since they are still HOPING).

And its true….there are thousands of posts and community communications to Anet, and we get 0 feedback. I am not even sure devs. even care about forums…i am totally not sure where they are getting info about community feedback, but they are making videos and replies that feel like they have 0 clue about what we are thinking.

The only 1 thing the community has generally in mind (and its undeniable, just look at general chat ask anyone generally and 8 of 10 will have this opinion) : Will they announce expansion and content now that they released in China?

Gw1 was my favorite game i think after Warcraft 2, but it was half kittenty before Factions came. After expansion it became awesome, and got even more amazing after each expansion. So my opinion is : If they do not give us decent content in a form of expansion or something, this game is done for, for the players that are here to play, and not to fanboy the game.

I am sure the 70%+ will say Warrior and Elementalist asap. And its true, but i am wondering what other classes might be extremely useful.

I am not sure if this should be a discussion about them, more like i wish to hear opinions on this topic to shed me some light.
I dont generally like PvE in Gw2, but i started doing some dungeons, like Ac P1-2 Story, Cm p1, and TA story, and seen some stuff i rarely see usefull generallym so i decided to roll a class that might be fun to play in pve, since its usefull.

I alredy have Ele and Warrior (by the way…and its boring to play them generally)
I seen some really nice Guardians, are they fun to play ? Viable? Are they wanted in LFG?

Since we started off with : To adjust the system in a small way behind the game, without hurting the players that like the current one, but also leaving an option to others who wish more…
Why is Gw2 community always like this :
WE have coffee, some also want tea and ask for it, but some guys say why are you taking away our coffee we like it, beside tea is crap, dont give them tea. When no one even mentioned they want coffee to be gone -_- . Sorry i have to say this, but there are to many kittens here, thinking you cant have both….and are so selfish and blind not to understand we are not wishing them any kind of harm or hurting there game play at all.
We just want stuff we also like.

hello!

So i am a bit shy on this topic, since i dont like asking bs like : What is better to play.
Probably what you feel more fun…but right now i think low level game wont compare to Spvp-Arena and endgame builds.

And since i have like lv 20 experiance with both i guess i better ask community, trough i know most will have differing opinions, some will say utterly useless, while others say its the only viable, but it still better then nothing.

So my problem is :
I want to level an alt for my Warrior (also have Ele) and not sure what. Right now i am considering Ranger a bit more (trough i played 6 years as hunter in wow and feels a bit boring…atleast early game), it has more weapons, and armors fit him a bit more.
I am a bit focused on character look, and sadly Ranger wins in any account on that topic (excluding the amazing looking “the preadator”).
As Con : Ranger feels weak in spvp. I dont have to much experiance. As warrior they seem pathetic in arena. I can mostly easy 2v1 most of them as Axe-shield build…(unlike engineer, that mostly can 2v1 us)

For engineer…they do share armor, but wont really fit for engineer. (for example Ranger and Thief looks amazing in Gw1 style getup, but Engineer with a rifle does not really look good in that). Not only that but the real problem is , that they cant really use other then pistol-shield (that i dont like on engineer) or rifle. So basically i would miss a BIG part i find important from the game…earning good looking skins and hard to get weapons.
(i wont even mention the disgusting hobo sack)
As Pro : They seem to be interesting to play, with all the turrets and combos and Cc. Not to mention they seem to be tough (trough they are actively tough like eles). And still do decent damage.

So right now i am not sure what i am supposed to roll….I wish i had those tomes of Knowledge and simply pop to 80 -_- but they come so hard.

Any tips suggestions opinions?

As feature i would mention :
Skills swapping. By that i dont mean , you can customize your weapons skills as you like, but to have a cool feature, to switch out 1 or 2 preset fitting skill.
For example : Switch Flashing blade to a skill that throws the weapon blinds the same way, but burns the enemy instead of teleporting you. (just an example) This would not throw of balance, and would not give players to extreme combinations, but still would let them customize there game play and combat a LOT more.

As second you might should consider a “skill effect” menu. This would be like Wardrobe, but you could unlock a few skill effects to specific skills with some mission or dungeon.
For example Engineer turrets, the way he is holding the rifle. New look to Necromancers minions. In this menu you could freely (or for transmutation charges) change how your skills look.

Another option to this could be : Character Ascension.
The characters could “ascend” in the end of the “expansions personal story”, and unlock a “sub class” that would let them chose more weapons, skill styles (could do the same as before with a new look), that would be more eastern style. For example Thieves could ascent to Assassin and be able to switch the look of his skills to a more appropriate look.
Necro could for example ascend to Ritualist and summon other kind of undead, or get another trait line as spiritualism.
Guardian to Monk ect…

For now i think this would be all, that pops into my mind and i would love.
I hope you forgive my terrible english and give me your opinions as well, and share what you would like, or think should be changed- improved in a constructive way, so that players that like things as they are stay happy, but others that want new stuff also get it…i am sure Anet thinks the same way.

Greetings to you all!

I just wish to share the community, my ideas and how i would like to see an upcoming expansion to the game.

Lets not fight over the necessity of an expansion. Clearly, improving the game and having more content should be always welcome.

The best way in my opinion would be to give us, what many players miss since beta :
A chance to further customize your combat and gameplay. And features like the last patch offered as Wardrobe system.

First of all i must state, that in my opinion Gw1 was not really good at early stages. Factions was the thing that elevated it to heavens. And i am feeling the same way about Gw2. Currently i dont enjoy the game as i am supposed to.
The list of things that would clearly change my opinion, are not to extreme i think.
For example Guild Halls are mentioned since before beta, and are promised “we keep what is good,…” to quote Mike O Brian…(can i?) And i must say Guild Halls were one of the must fun things i saw in like 20+ ish mmo-s i played since Eq1 and Ragnarock online.

All right, lets begin.
As Content i would love to see an Eastern Culture style expansion. Cantha would be my choice before any other. The culture and style is to rich to leave it later. It leaves the option to change anything basically. Not to mention all the fans that are into anime or manga, or simply just like the eastern culture or martial arts, or just its music. I am sure its kind of more popular then any other culture (that is my opinion ofc)

Second i would love to see Guild Halls as mentioned above.
Could offer a lot to PvP and general guild systems. For example : you could pick its location, building style, be able to furniture it to your taste (as guild master). Unlock trophies to display. Merchants, collect pets to menagerie, that could even be tamed. Maybe even daily collectible flowers or crafting materials.
Not to mention you could Challenge Guilds to GvG, that would take place in the “area” (something like a Spvp map) attached to the guild hall. And Earn rewards.
So i think would be an excellent idea.

As third, more weapons by of course.
They dont really have to bring new mechanics to the game (might take to much design time, trough it would be awesome), but they could be there for a different play feel.
For example you could have a “hand cannon” instead of rifle, that would be that tipical Dragon ornamented black powder cannon thing. Or a Halberd or a normal Spear, that is requested since beta.

New armor and item skins should be ofc evident.

Engi or Ranger...Arenas.

The title might as well could have been : Melee Ranger paradox?

The whole post is basically more like a question, or more like i wish to hear your opinions on the concept of “melee ranger”. Your opinions, thoughts, suggestions and ideas.

First of all i must say , i rejoined only a few weeks ago, since friends started playing. I fast leveled my Elementalist, and till i was waiting for them run some Spvp rounds, and realized how i love it. So i decided to roll a third alt besides Warrior.

First i started a Necro, but i think its not for me, i dont like death shroud. Then i saw a thief , that looks like the assasin from gw1 with the celestial armor and new haircuts….amazing, so i started one, at 20 ish i popped spvp and run some rounds, but got 2 shot mostly…sure it has an excellent damage potential, like Warrior, and might even be tanky if played well or dunno, but i dont think stealth is my play style. I prefer the Gw1 style “assasin”.

Then i saw my Wallpaper and found it inspiring. ( under the post) So i came to the option of running an Ranger.
It might not be able to use dual dagger or sword ( that would look really awesome), but can use 2handed sword (that i dont really like trough, the skill set and animation is not for my taste), but can also use Longbow, that does look really good. Has a pet…cool to collect them (i guess, not much of a pokemon fan).

So i came to the guess : Is Sword- Dagger Ranger viable at all? If so, how squishy is ranger in melee?
I am sure all of you have differing opinions. Some might say its useless, while others might say its the only viable, but i am still interested in your opinions.

Guild Halls are promised since beta, and there is still no REAL content like that after years of waiting…
Honestly when they released Gw2 i was like Extremely disappointed about the fact, Devs totally lie to us. They told us we have features that were good in Gw1 in Gw2 to….Guild Halls are still one of the best things i encountered in Mmorpg games (and trust me i played almost all since ragnarock and eq1), yet they still didnt even mention it.
Honestly, i am waiting for content…and if there wont be an expansion…i am so kittening done with this bs they keep feeding us.

Instead of asking it directly :
What is the fastest way to level….I wish to know what YOU think is the fastest way.
Or more like, what is your process when you focus on speed level, instead of all around fooling and exploring.

My is (trough there are probably more and better way) :
Pop lv 20 scroll, Go capitol, pick up 2 craft , pop craft booster, craft to 400 ish.
(usually have 30-40 ish gold to buy things i dont have, and mostly have common materials from alts) Only by crafting 1 to 400 i get like 10 ish level. So that is like 20-25 at best i guess levels. AFter that i run araund and collect some waypoints. After that i go pop birthday booster or normal exp booster and run araund dooing hearts.

So what is your way?

I must admit i dont mind thought full feedback, but if things would work that way….the game would stay a rigid, static but clean “rock paper scissor”. That is fully balanced…but its all about luck and gets boring in 2 minutes.
If they would develop based on “oh my god how can we balance this idea” the game would not be “ground breaking” innovative.

In other words…you wont progress without risk….you need to progress in order to improve or you get stuck with mario in 2030. Progress comes with hardships and work….if they do want to sell there game, they have to constantly upgrade it. (that is my opinion atleast).

On stoops comment. Whell you might be right, trough i hope not. Expansion to Gw1 was a miracle…it saved the generally boring game, and the same goes for Gw2 in my opinion…the game is generally boring (combat wise, to me at least). And like 30 of my friends (not joking or exaggerating) left having nothing left to do but grind…(since they didnt like pvp.

I dont mind getting less “content” for a while, but the game definitly needs a big content upgrade not just “features” and holyday kitten…players play Rpg games to play fantasy and fight epic battles….not snowball minigame. (that is my opinion)

But we are getting side tracked…its more abaut the idea, not about the right or not right for existance of an expansion.

So i was wondering , expansions in general, (since we dont know anything at all) and realized this amazing idea, i would love to see.

Lets say we get Cantha as an Easter culture style expansion or update (probably so, since it was a ground breaking update for Gw1, and made the game extremely popular, you might as say was almost as important as the game itself).
And we get new classes? Not sure maybe, but “upgrading” the current classes can be difficult to design.
My thought process was like : Hmm i would love an assassin returning…probably wont happen they made Thief to be a substitute…..why dont they ascent current classes to have an option to change skills…or skills themes. And bamm i realized its an amazing idea to start on.

Why dont they “ascent” player characters in some story line, or optional dungeons or rewards, and let them have more skills, weapons to use (as they explore and adventure the classes advance and learn.)
For example (lets stay at Assassin) give the “skills” back to Thief that Assassins had in Gw1 : Way of The master , that made you use other weapons then dagger, because it improved your critical strike (or give something useful, just an example).
It would not only give more customization to the class’s game play and general combat, but would also give some background story feeling to it. (even minor things like this can give a big depth to classes)

I would also reconsider to give players the ability to switch 1-2 skills on some certain weapons to certain skills. Even +2-3 option / every third weapon would give a GRAND boost to combat builds and viable character combat roles. (that are non existent right now besides zerkers)

I might be optimistic but i totally got hyper on these ideas, and as i see, they are not to extreme for an expansion, but would truly improve the game play.
I hope you all excuse my terrible English and share your opinions on my idea. Forums exist to share opinions and ideas after all. And do +1 if you like it. Thank you!

Thief is not a substitute for Assasin

Hi.

I understand many of you are extremist suicide bom…i mean fans of Gw2, but you must understand, its still 2! and many players are here from Gw1, and you all must understand, this game only exists because Gw1 was so awesomely designed, that it lured a big audience.

I still feel, that Gw1 was a LOT more innovative then Gw2 is. but in any case another topic.
Getting to point : I think Thief wont really stick out as an substitute for Assassin, which it clearly wants to be.
I dont want to lie, but i am sure i seen some official statement that they dont plan on making Assassin.
I understand, that it was quite Eastern culture themed, and would not fit in here, but then again, its exactly why it is different then Thief.
I also understand that Thief would be actually shallow without Dual dagger, Assassin ish skill set, and adding another class with almost same skill set would be a sad excuse, BUT then again, most players are dissapointed, that they are not getting such an amazing character theme instead of a common want to be class.
There are many skills that i found more innovative in Assassin then i find thief overall.

for example way of the master skill where you could pick any other weapon, and go and spin gracefully around with a scythe. Or Shadow form.
Or the general concept of Main hand Off hand finisher attack sequences for more damage or optimal rotations, that you could mix infinitely. . . That was a LOT more innovative then this : Steal and initiative resource bar we have…makes Gw2 feel a AAA category game crippled down to general audience. Way to simplified….like Rogues were in Wow spamming eeeeeeq eeeeeq . …and win. (ok ok not that simple, but you get it)

My real problem is not that we dont have Assassin…i can get on with it, it was a choice they made…they problem is, you cant customize your play style to feel like one.
Gw2 is SOOOO rigid on this part. I experimented for like a whole week with Elementalist to see how many builds (mostly with traits) are differing in play style…and realized hardly 2-3 that moderately differs (not in look, but mechanic) and like 3 more that only differs lightly. Not to mention…the differing only meant using the same skills in differing order or not using some…unlike other games, where you get differing skills or use differing gear…
Truly made me realize, Gw2 offers extremely minimal game style and combat customization (but its another topic)
So even as Thief supposed to be a substitute for Assassin….you cant play it like one. You cant pick “sniping” skills (you cant even use rifles).
True…many of Thief-s skills are basically Assassin skills ripped of, but they are NOT the same…a “shadow refuge” means something entirely different then it means for an Assassin.

At any rate…this is my opinion. You can flame me..hate me, have a differing opinion, but keep in mind, forums exist to share ideas and opinions, and players that actually post here do it to see others opinions on it, and not flames, blames, hate and blindfolded fanatism not to change anything.

So my idea is (to suggest a solution to this problem at least) : In future “expansions” that might be Eastern cultured (like for god only knows our beloved Cantha) , “ascend” classes, make them be able to use differing themed skills. They can even be the same ones, with differing effects.

Hi.

1, I am not sure if i should level my necro above 20 for now (i plan on leveling a lot with crafting, as soon as i have the mats….), but the problem is, that i am getting these boxes with pvp, and not sure what they are supposed to drop….
-I mean the loot from them seems to scale(?) with level?
-Can i repeat each “line” of progress for boxes and get rewards again if i keep playing more and more spvp? Or they are 1 time fill up progress?
-Would i miss good chance on lv 80 exotics and kitten if i complete them before 80?

Actually i think it depends on something.
Not sure if its build or usage or gear, but i been practicing on my Nekro alt with a full well build, that actually destroys any class that depends on boons to stay alive (in short Eles), and seen an Ele (dunno what build…but proly not fresh air) that was like immortal vs me and 2 others….it took us like 6 mins to get him downed….

So i was off for a few months….
THe new patch seems a nice so i came back and did inprove a lot (trough these improvements were needed like since start)

At any rate i have a few questions :

1, started a new character a necro, probably for spvp only, since i am not a big fan of pve struggling in dungeons (at best i explore the map…that is not really fun after 4 characters)
And i really have no clue about what builds are viable and what should i be focusing on necro in pvp….
-Like i realized DS. is a must have (sad… i hate it…its disgusting and i find it a terrible class mechanic, trough i dont deny it its useful)

Right now i picked up Gw2 again…did not play for like a year, and still not sure i really should be, but sme of my friends came back to play and its becoming fun to play. I level my Ele to 80 and starting to realize i wanted to play Necro since i saw Gw2 is coming out (old gw1 player.)
But when the game actually came out i was disgusted by the way Necro was implemented, and kind of took my whole mood to play the game at all. Right now i am thinking maybe i should look into it again, so i am considering rolling one.
I am probably going to pop my scroll to 20, and craft my way to 35 ish from 0 to 400 not sure how much exp that is with booster?) Not sure what is the best way to speedlevel to 80 after…but any way, my problem is :

1, i Feel like i am forced to use skills i dont like…more like hate actually.
2, Staff attack animation, kind of kittenes me off, looks ugly as hell, but its a must have sooner or later.
3, Character looks kittened, swinging around the scepter that should supposed to be a majestic style weapon. (Might actually go for the general theme of the Necro…since the 90% of us fantasy lover players imagine it as a refined pale girl or noble man. -_-) And scepter is also kind of must have…you simply can not get araond without using staff and scepter
4, Dagger…no comment…destroyed my image of “caster” i wished to play.
*5, All the above i can get on with….trough irritates me,…but i feel like the system itself is bad. I am forced to use certain builds to be viable. Its like i dont have a choice to pick a “role” in combat like other classes can.
I also really hate Death Shroud, but i am forced to use it since its one of the core viability skills. without it the class kind of sucks to much. So i am not sure what to do….

I also have a question : Does Death Shroud still look the same way irritating when activated? (since i didnt saw any effect besides a plus hp bar when going against Necros in Spvp). Are there viable spvp builds that dont rely on DS to much? Can you disable the effect on yourself?
Oh and do Necros wield dual dagger like Thiefs? Kind of looks amazing…like assassin from Gw1 in Human cultural t3.

So i returned to Gw2 after a long time and continued my Ele afterall, and realized it shall be my main.

After gearing up with decent pve gear and crafting up to 450 i got a bit bored and started to spvp, with my fresh air S/D build…not bad but leaves a LOT…exspecially had problems with all those mm necros…hard to target them

So here are my questions :

1, How do you pick gear in spvp (i hit the button but only lets me pick runes for my alredy equipped weapons.)
-This was quite easy before patch i dont think i get this new system…..does my pve gear get pvp stats but keeps skin? I cant even unlock skins for pvp only? Same for weapons…If i have exotic weapon it better then a simple blue or it wont even matter, it has specific stats in pvp?

2, Can i join Those 5v5-10v10 maps with friend(s)? If so how?
3, I have hard time finding proper maps that have open slots, can i filter it to “actually join able matches?”
4, Can anyone give me build tips for general spvp?
5, Also…i am considering an alt, any tips for spvp? Necro seems op, not sure if i should make another caster trough…Thief viable? Or some other kitten?

Anyone running D/D fresh air builds?

You need a fast attacking kitten to be viable with fresh air.
Earth and Ice has 3 attacks wit single animation that any of those can crit and pop the proc. Not to mention as you constantly go ice-air-earth-air….you boon yourself.

Dagger hits slow and has only 1 attack…not to mention with scepter you have another lightning spell and blind…really neet to see like 3-4 lightning strike the foe then another 3-4 and it explodes before your last rotation goes

Its decent in pvp, but not the best, nekro pets swarm you and you are dead, your lightning will hit the pets, not to mention there are hardly any decent aoe skills that dont need like 3 sec delay (dragon tooth) or 3-4 sec channel….Bring earth armor….
