The existence of this thread is to provide the information for any future pvp events that will be held.The events will be held every two weeks or so. There are still a lot of discussion being held about the timing but I think we’ll have separate organisations for the events, the reason why would be because of the difference between timeline of different country regions.
Another thing I would like to point out is that we’re currently in need of assistance with the events. Spcifically, people from EU that are in the guild. We won’t push or force every responsibility to you but we’ll definitely appreciate some help. That being stated, just leave me a personal message once you’ve read this.
The events will be mainly based upon holding up against other classes. We’ll also have guests from the Official Mesmer Forum Guild in for assistance. Have fun! Teef for lyf!

OMG… What’s the point of arguing about it anyway? It’s not like we get to vote for the spec or anything. I mean look at tempest, they’ve received warhorn! And they can’t do kitten about it. So guys, just stop spamming threads about it. We need space for threads that highlight issues the thief truly possess.
Extra evades used to remedy this, and in retrospect maybe it was a bit too strong.
Too strong in which circumstances?
Prior to the patch, 60206 D/P with Vamp runes was used by every thief in any sPvP match basically, even Sizer switched.
In 1v1s, the trait that carried thieves was Shadow Rejuvenation (hence why it is still banned in the Angz 1v1 Server [in EU]).
Feline Grace was a strong trait, and certain specs really struggled against it (Shatter Mesmers and Warriors mostly). But that’s it.
Even if they reverted Feline Grace to its former version, 60606 D/P would still be the go-to choice for sPvP due to how strong Blinding Powder & Shadow Refuge are, when traited with SA, in a teamfight.

This is by far the most frustrating bug I’ve ever faced. My schedule included that I finish every story before Hot, very disappointed A-net. I even had to apologise to my friend for wasting his time.

Oh yeah! Another idea is place the old Feline Grace in GM or master trait to choose from. Maybe change the current Feline Grace to Power Of Inertia :p. They still didn’t give us the 10-20% extra promised heal for Withdraw. Get your cat straight A-Net. Potent Poison still makes me giggle once in a while.
Acrobatics is ruined because someone looked at the line and decided to take the one trait that made the class considerable and gut it, on a class that requires active defense to exist for more than a couple of seconds.
It doesnt even count technical dodges.
Shame on whoever thought this was a good idea.
I understand and am partial to the allure of risk and reward, but in the game scene as it stands now where big damage is being dumped on people in a manner of seconds, there comes a point where there’s no point in risking the entire outcome of the match for a paltry, removable boon that only procs if the game recognizes you’ve evaded something, while ignoring any dodges made that still achieved a desired result without being counted as evades.
Do you want us to play Acro, Anet? If so, you need to fix both the weapons that synergize well with it and the fact that thieves have no defense that does not depend on stealth. Extra evades used to remedy this, and in retrospect maybe it was a bit too strong. But what was done to tone it down made it simply unattractive to anyone looking to play competitively.
Its fine for thief to be hard to play, but changes like this are insulting when we already have borderline useless weapon sets for general use. There needs to be work done on the area between [forgiving] and [practically impossible].
Across the entire board, on all classes, you are simultaneously heavily rewarding the playstyles that required less focus and response time, while at the same time removing all of the facets that made high complexity, high reward play possible and enticing.
Stop doing that.

Not every thief chooses improvisation over executioner. In fact executioner in any circumstances will always outshine improvisation.
I can’t think of when Throw Gunk would be useful at all for a power thief but Nephrite did you ever play D/D Ele?
A Thief using Ice Shard right after you rotated out of water… most annoying thing for an Ele and the best way as a thief to beat them (and the reason why a lot use the trait Stop, Drop & Roll in WvW Roaming at least)

they fixed the condi clear in stealth. its once again an instant clear + another after 3 seconds. so its actually pretty good again.

These two stolen abilities are pretty much the only useless ones. Ice Shard? Cleansed within seconds. Throw Gunk? It reveals and doesn’t do much condition damage, sure you can whirl combo in it but the confusion doesn’t seem to exist if you’re on a power build (p/d condition build sucks).
PS: Karl, please change potent poison and bring back the first Feline Grace.
It used to be a PvP armor skin in the old version of it. At this moment in no other way obtainable then the story. Though if I where to guess they might be seeing a return in HoT here is hoping

Thief all around is in a frustrating place right now in pvp. Acro does not have enough dmg and dodges, d/p is OK if you play perfectly shadow shotting and head shotting everything but still has trash condi clear so if you get condi bombed you either die in the 3 seconds it takes for your condi clear to activate after you go into stealth or you are in stealth for 10+ seconds while your team rethinks having a thief on the team. while other classes are kitten ing around on their keyboard and winning because oh man the thief should have headshotted that one ability and now he is dead, or for acro man he dodged and didn’t take dmg the whole fight until he got hit by one thing becasue he ran out of endurance because every attack incomming is high impact to the thief (this however is not the case for the thief’s attacks on other classes) and now is dead. I guess i’m just uspet but its also the reason i love thief is because you have to try so much more god kitten hard and be better than every one else on this class to do the same ting as all the other classes are doing by just slamming their face into the keyboard as a side note if i hear another person say d/d ele takes skill i’m going to jump off a cliff :P
+1. I can’t really agree on the elementalist part though but I can say that if you’ve played the cele ele well then its truly more rewarding compared to thief.

AE’s stability was obviously too short. Most of us know these threads would be some where redundant but if any of the devs decide to read the thread then the first thing they’ll see are complaints about acro therefore increasing the chance of them doing something about it. Doesn’t fit the Thief in every aspect. Thieves are suppose to be more futuristic and the scepter will only hold it back. Scepter sucks too, it’s just a short stick.

Hihey is right. There’s supposed to be a tradeoff in survivability for damage when you take acro, but it’s just not worth it. Go CS and the damage is great.
You know what I’d pay to watch? Karl play against other meta classes/builds on his newly “Re-designed Acrobatic Thief”. Bet he’d go condition out of desperation. Executioner’s the way to go in spvp. Especially with the new Tempest trait that provies em with 40% dmg reduc when protection is applied. You’re gonna need that extra boost if you don’t steal it.

Really it’s tough to beat that, you can do dungeon tours and with a quick group it’s better, but the second you start pugging, welp, SW wins out.
Personally I just run fractals and some Arah for fun, hoard my supplies till I run out of gold then sell some stuff. Did a small clear of one section of my bank and pulled in 500g a week or so back. You do get a lot of supplies going through Fractals but overall still not anything to get excited about loot wise.
Yeah! The big problem about dungeons or fractals is that it takes too long to complete one if my party isn’t experienced. I’ve never tried SW farming before but I guess it’s worth a shot. There’s another train run in Orr where they exploit a particular event but I heard its been nerfed to bits.
Kuru, nope:) I’m just taking a break off it. World boss is decent (teq especially) but I feel as if the gold/time just doesn’t seem to be worth it. Sometimes the timer take too long and I’ve only got limited amount of time everyday.

It’s an awful matchup for thief. The air variant in particular. Worse than medi guard even. Raif gave some good tips, but I’ll add, assuming you’re D/P, to punish long and hard whenever the ele is not in fire or air. Multiple seconds of straight auto’ing. Poison at the end of the auto chain helps a lot. Dodging fire is mandatory. If you play close attention and assume the ele will use it pretty much right away, you can dodge earthquake as well.
Thanks for the respond! Thanks to Raif too:) yeah I agree that it’s an awful match up cause I’ve recently made an ele and found out how much of a pain they can be (their full potential). Makes me wanna cry every time I see the might stacks and have no way to strip them when I’m on d/p. I usually run bountiful theft but it doesn’t to to always consider might as its priority. Always end up getting protection or SWIFTNESS (like wtf).
Oh well, guess I’ll just turn around. So currently the toughest match up for thieve would be cele engi/ele and guardians huh?
You need to keep in mind that it all comes down to match ups if both players are experienced. For instance, it’s nearly impossible to beat a good cele engi or ele if you’re running a marauder d/p build (try it), of course provided that you’re both good players or evenly skilled. A good example of a fair match up would be let’s say going against a fresh air ele, static discharge, power necro, pew pew ranger (easiest to beat in my opinion) and etc. Basically squishes cause it doesn’t take you long to down them once they’ve made a mistake. Like what that’s been stated in meta battle, a well played thief’s prey will always be squishes unless if it’s a medi guard. Medi guards aren’t impossible to beat but it’s just almost impossible to bring em down if they’re good (very tough).

I’m gonna ask a obvious question. What’s the fastest and more profitable way of earning gold? I’d like to hear about you daily gold earning routine if you have one. Cause I’ve recently decided to take a long break away from pvp till everything’s fixed. Any suggestion would be welcome as long as it involves earning a load of gold everyday.

Having the player autoattack with the main hand and use the offhand in an utilitarian way is hardly ambidextrous which is what we have in the game.
It will be weird and unfitting having a thief use his dagger in autoattacks in melee while having a sword in the other hand.
Ikr and why poke your foe with a puny dagger when you can smack em with your sword. At this point I’d like to see what would come out for warrior though. If they actually get duel daggers or pistol main hand then yeah, there’s a chance we’ll get OH sword but meh I doubt it. It’s likely they’re gonna get pistol offhand like mesmers of some other lame offhand weapon like dagger or torch. Lol axe/pistol or axe/dagger XD

I’ll say this here as well: even if they made Vigor last 300s with no ICD, it would still be a garbage trait in a garbage traitline.
Out of the all the comments I couldn’t agree more with this. Giving us Vigor back isn’t enough. The first FG was perfect as it is, Geez classes like Elementalist are seriously great examples of unskillful play (crit them and they get Vigor) but that’s not the problem here. The problem is that some people just wants to make this class harder and harder to master. Useless! Even if you’ve played this class long enough, some newbie can just get on a medi guard and go brain dead to crush you if you make ONE mistake. sigh what am I ranting? Bet I’m obviously not the first one stating this. Plus the same screw up is still working on 3 classes \o/ Why Anet?! Why?!!!
Is changing it from 2s to 4s good enough? Or do you have other thoughts? I personally think we might as well get the old Feline Grace back as a new Grandmaster or Master trait to choose from.

Think it’ll only be viable if a restriction is added and that would be not being able to equip dagger or pistol as main hand. It’s weird enough that wielding any weapon with different hand changes your skills but it all only make things worse if you do it so with sword OH and dagger MH. It’s just weird… I like the idea of staff and rifle though. I mean you do use the same skill when you’re ***ping with your other hand right? It’s debatable like writing with your dominate hand is obviously different (duh) but I wouldn’t want to push the argument there. In the end who knows (other than devs), maybe it’ll be nice. I agree that equipping D/S or P/S will open up more diversity but meh weird. Oh! Axe main hand would me wicked as well.

1st auto attack. Strike your opponent with your rifle stock causing a few stack of vulnerability. The chain could be a mixture of hitting them with a hidden bayonet. (Creative suggestions are more than welcome^^)
Skill 2. Tactful Shot, shoot your foe causing blindness as well as increasing critical chance if they’ve got vulnerability on them. Cost 2 initiative.
Skill 3. Soldier’s Denial. Block attacks with your rifle, this skill doesn’t lock you in place. Cost 3 initiative for each second of block.
Skill 4. Improvised Clips, unload four rounds to your target. The rounds bounce on each target causing stacks of bleeds for each target struck. It’s able to bounce up to 5 targets. Cost 4initiative.
Skill 5. This is the toughest skill to think about in terms of balance. Infamous Camouflage, Lay low and gain stealth for 3 seconds (4s with Meld with Shadows). This skill has a cast time and will keep you in place for 1.5 second in order to gain stealth. Cost 5 initiative. I know this skill sounds like a joke XD
Stealth Attack could be something like Decisive Shot. Shoot your target, causing weakness if you shoot the target from behind. Damage would be similar to Backstab (maybe as bad as Kill Shot;).
Just sharing my idea about what the Thief can be:) I’m obviously not expecting the devs to do this but it’ll be more than awesome if they consider it^^
