I think they could add this even for normal classes without elite specializations…

but I would prefer standard emotes at first, anytime I want to use some, it’s not in game… you know, sometimes you want just /hi someone, or /applaud or /congratulate to a drop, but emotes in this game are very limited or not intuitive…

+1 This. There is /wave and /cheer you know that right but yeah, I agree we need more new ones. A it’ll be a cool idea if classes have their own emotes, then again I’d rather have something that doesn’t limit you to one class.

Can you guys please merge deception recharge cd with Shadow’s Protector? I feel like that would increase it’s value as a master trait because most thieves with their right mind would never pick Concealed Defeat over Shadow’s Embrace.

I’m actually satisfied with the majority of new remade traits. However still a lil bit devastated by a few changes that DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE. SA line is one of them, Cloak in Shadow is a Grand master trait? lol You guys took off infusion of shadow and buffed Shadow’s Rejuvenation makes sense but why the hell is Resilience of Shadows is so strong? I mean 50% damage reduction while is stealth is just too much. It’s so close to being invulnerable. I suggest you guys lower it down to less than 30% at LEAST. I honestly do not hate the Thief or anything, as in matter of fact am using one as a main. I made this request because I really hate seeing Thieves being nerfed to oblivion again.

Wow. I’m really not sure whether to be extremely happy or depressed about this but I really think all the classes should just get a total rework. Adding 4 more extra trait points after all these years is seriously over whelming. Not 2 but FOUR! I’m happy I’ll finally be able to go 6/6/6 on my thief but I’m seriously worried that the build won’t last long as the number to whiners will rise. Other than that I guess we’ll obviously get build diversity.

Only thing that can affect fall damage is the trait for each class and that rune that I can’t remember the name of. 25% less fall damage, which is additive to the 50% trait.

I’m asking about stats not traits or runes, just raw stats. But thanks for your reply though.

If the enemy’s Thief is taking your advice to only engage a Thief or Mesmer in 1v1, then they should be able to take you out, right?

If not, then your advice doesn’t really work. :/

If u know you can’t win (based on earlier engages) then you just don’t and +1 anywhere else instead

What if you can’t win that either? I’ve seen Necros and Engineers who can keep 2-3 enemies in the node while defending it even against Thieves. If you’re a Thief and cannot defend or take a node by yourself, then perhaps you’re better off playing another class…right?

That’s my point. If you go with a teammate to outnumber a bunker Engi — and fail — how exactly do you “practice” for that situation?

However, if you choose to play Necro instead of Thief, you can single-handedly take the point away from a bunker Engi — no need to +1 anyone.

Besides, if it takes 3 of you to handle 2 of them (3v2), that means your team is not holding a node or just about to lose a node because chances are, one of your node is also outnumbered.

Let’s say two nodes are guarded by bunker Engi each and the mid-node has 3 enemy players guarding it. As a Thief, what is your primary role?

It is a known fact that Thief cannot decap from a bunker Engi and to outnumber the mid-node that means you’ll have to 4v3 them, if not 5v3.

Do you see where I’m getting at?

Then mid is priority because, as u said, the thief can’t kill a bunker/decap engi.
Also, if u succeed getting mid in that big teamfight, you can just snowball onto the bunker engi

FYI: necro might be able to take down an engi, but necro has alot more counters than a thief. Let’s not even talk about mobility

  • I did not agree nor think that thief is useless in PvP.
  • A Thief can’t kill bunker (Sentinel) Engineers alone, and he shouldn’t even try. Thieves are meant to +1 fights, to make it swift as possible.

Any other profession can +1 fight and can even take nodes alone.

Thieves offer burst on demand for their team, unlike Necro’s

Then take a Warrior instead…I’m still not convinced that Thief is useful in PvP. Sure they can travel fast, but in 3-1-1 split where 2 nodes are held by Engis, traveling fast has no value.

  • Any other class can +1, but can’t deliver burst on demand => resulting in being slow in rotations and being outnumbered/outrotated later on (assuming enemy team has a Thief)
  • If you’re going to replace Thief for a Warrior (assuming you don’t have a warrior yet), you’re in for an outrotation. Warriors are slow, despite their leap/swiftness (if we’re talking about the Meta).
  • Shoutwarrs weak spot is burst. Your enemy thief is in for a free kill on your warrior once he’s outnumbered for few seconds.

FYI;

  • Any other class can take a node.. Ok.. But what environment of PvP are we talking about? Beginners, average or experienced? Because afaik a d/d cele ele should not try to decap from another d/d cele ele over a point.. In an average/experience environment. Basically, you don’t try to decap a point unless its big in your favor (free or the one you counter; Ele vs Engi)

Hey Bro, wanted to ask you something. Can a skillful S/D thief beat every class if both opponents are evenly experienced? Speaking mainly about WVW cause I rarely WVWVW so I can’t say anything about it. At least make it a draw and not run away as a thief. I get that you can disengage in wvw but I’d rather not if it’s a 1v1

The second skill would be spammy, since it’s a gap closer that does more damage the closer it is. The stealth skill would also be extremely strong but there’s no sources of stealth on there, so as long as it’s a transform that removes utilities like lich so you can’t potentially stunlock someone with the 3s revealed timer it’ll be ok. It would need very precise balancing but overall a nice idea

Yeah I agree that 2 would be spam able like HeartSeeker but it’s an elite so it has to feel like an elite skill. Maybe skill 5 after releasing all the rusty knives you enter stealth and the duration would be controlled by the amount of knives released.

Shadow Berserker.

1st skill, Vital Strikes. Strike Your foe’s Vital organs with your bare hands. (5percent extra crit with every third hit)

2nd skill, Contained Hatred. Rush and evade towards your enemy to deliver a mighty punch. The more damage it deals the closer they are.

3rd skill, Hangman’s knot. Pull your foe to you whenever you like if the rope connects. Unless if the elite is on cool down.(similar to Guardian’s gs skill5)

4th skill, Gruesome Kick. Kick your foe with a crushing blow that causes vulnerability.

5th skill, Rusty Retaliation. Release a large amount of rusty knives around you like Dagger Storm while reflecting incoming projectiles! This one’s duration is controlled by its initiative though.(cost a lot)

Stealth attack during elite, pelvis blow(from front). Deliver a bone crushing hit on their pelvis leaving them stunned and crippled.

Stealth attack from back. Deliver a sharp shocking elbow to their spinal cord while dealing massive damage and stunning them for 2-3 seconds.

Reason I wish this idea would be added to the game was because I would love to see various small choices to a character being a real brawler. Let me know if you guys support this idea because I really hope the devs would at least have a look at it because I personally LOVE martial arts and the majority of people I know do to.

I wouldn’t really like skill 4. I think something like dazing your opponent with your rifle butt or something like holding on the key to charge up initiative and fire, dealing more damage the longer the key is hold.As for gunpowder I guess it’s fine but the fact that pistol skill’s 5 has Black Powder but doesn’t grant stealth unless blasted or leaped over I think those 2 ideas would collide as a result for being dull & lazy. For skill 5 it shouldn’t be too over powered yet versatile during combat. I would recommend something like camouflage calling it Relocate or something as this would be a tactical shot. The rest seems nice other than the stealth attack. I think we need something more interesting with it.

Thieves also kick puppies.

:/ Sorry, no “kick” skill in game. And no ambient puppies either.

I just don’t understand why Thieves can’t use every weapon in the game.

I’d prefer to use a few weapons effectively first. Because till they’re done releasing new specializations and weapons for our class only then we’ll make the most out of it as the devs have enough time to put in good afford into our future weapons. We’re much luckier than warriors if you think about it.

Adjusted my keys for awesome gameplay. I use Shift as my auto attack. Lol skill2 as X,3=Y and so on.

All I could remember was seeing one of them on a condition build. sigh I really wish the power and condition would switch places on our trait line lol

- too many ppl play it because of AC roleplay
- we need to force players to play condi build to improve statiscs
- gotta find more ways to nerf the class while claim it is a buff so less people play it and we get better statistics~

Technically “thieves” won’t be getting rifle. The new specialization will be getting them.

And rifle will probably be a sniper weapon, suiting the Assassin or Operative playstyle. Maybe even a bandit playstyle.

+1 yup I agree. Specializations will change every classes traits, utility & overall machanics. So the ‘thief’ wouldn’t be a thief anymore once you’ve unlocked the specialisation. I’m betting with what alchemyst stated, think we’ll be an assassin theme sniper killshot awesome camo Counter Strike guy.
