No.. Your face is funny. It’s like a little raisin.
Pff, now watch some Moderator will come in here, not knowing where that came from, and hand you an infraction for saying that to another player.
I suppose I should explain that it used to be quite the comical line until you stood in Lion’s Arch for any period of time after launch, just so that said moderator doesn’t infraction it :x
That and “hey, you wanna play ghosts and charr again?”
Back before all the “living story” stuff got kicked off, there were some phrases that I really enjoyed hearing my characters say.
Things like:
“All Shiny!”
and
“Sweet sweet loot!”
Now days I hear it all the time, because everything under the living-story sun is a yellow name item. Kite Fortunes, voting tokens, etc.
It’s bad enough that there were the plethora of crap seals or whatever they are called which are basically the trash loaded into the yellow loot table, but now the potential excitement of hearing those quotes is about zero.
It would be nice if Arenanet would bump the requirements up a notch. Let those phrases mean something again. Make them play for exotic loot or better, not the “rare” which is now commonplace.
I make myself sad every time I mention it :P But most stalkers had Phase shift, even with the “new” way of being able to attack phase shifters with phase shift, it was pretty easy to get back into stealth.
I had a dual blade stalker named Ann Xiety. Don’t remember what powerset she used, but it was one of the most enjoyable melee characters I played in that game.
I like the stealth in GW2, but I’m on the fence about it in regards to thieves. For the sake of realism, it seems like a thief should be revealed when taking damage, but still not sure how that would need to be balanced. Once you start messing with reveal, the problem becomes no-one wanting to play a thief because they are glass cannons and simply get splattered.
In CoH you were in stealth about 80% of the time on a Stalker, so not every game :P Also in SwTor you were pretty much in stealth the majority of the time on a couple classes.
Yes, but Stalker’s were unstealthed upon attacking, and you couldn’t jump right back into it (at least in the PvE environment).
Why did you have to bring up CoH. :melancholy:
I miss my heroes.
If Anet is going to introduce musical instruments like this into the game where you have to pay a decent amount of money/gems/gold for them, they need to put some time into them. This change wasn’t implemented the best, and it would have been much easier to have it sustain as long as the button is pressed (this mechanic is in game already for trebuchets/catapults/mortars, etc., so don’t tell me it can’t be coded, Anet).
And kitten it, I want half steps!
I don’t know the names, but was wondering the other day if one of the voice actors for male sylvari NPC’s was the same as one of the voice actors for some of the NPC’s in Rift. At least for me it’s close enough that when I go up to them in GW2 I find myself half the time expecting him to say “An Ascended! Consider my interest piqued.”
edit bumped because I didn’t want to start a new topic.
I seem to hear “AUGH!” (death scream) a lot. :/
The reason we keep getting temp content is that it’s making NCSoft a ton of cash. People are forking over thousands for the skins and things that come with these bi-weekly patches.
Same thing with the RNG boxes. Whether you consider it outright gambling or not, they are laughing all the way to the bank.
Only when the parent company starts to see profits go down will they make changes, and if we’re lucky they won’t just shut Anet down like they did Paragon
As long as the masses keep falling for these tricks, we’re stuck with the RNG antics. :/
This is Anet we’re talking about. “Common” means 1 in 100,000 or so
Sorry Neural, but your logic is a little off, and Anets stand on bots is very clear..
see previous news from Mike Lewis Security Co-ordinator…
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/mike-lewis-on-the-war-against-the-bots/
Yes, because Guild Wars 2 is so ermergerd awesome that Arenanet must be perfect. Every word that flows from their mouths is truth and brings light to the world. :roll eyes:
LOL, that post is 7 months old….botting is totally useless in Orr right now…DR is so horrible, botting is simply not profitable there right now they way i see it…but yes…they do have a hard stance on mobs.
In fact…I was spending some time in Orr last night, its my favorite map, and pent/shelt popped(miracle) and I would get zero loot from some waves…its the same from fight single mobs…DR is just so horrible
DR is complex and ambiguous. In order to figure out how it works in order to make the most of your time in game would take weeks of farming. Players can’t gather enough data and details while playing to be able to determine how to properly work around DR. You’d need a program to run it constantly for several weeks to .. oh wait.
I have been at arah and witnessed the fighting that occurs between the farmers and the group trying to get to Arah. I does suck for both sides and the nastiness and name calling that occurs is on par with primary school brawls , its hilarious but so childish. I have also been there when a farming group moved to Melandru let the others through with out much fuss.
People really need to grow up and stop being so selfish
People do need to grow up yes, but even decent people can be set off if the situation is right.
To draw a parallel from RL: When food, water, and necessities are in supply, people, for the most part, will treat each other decently. When there is some sort of disaster that takes those things away, people become quite mean and will even kill.
While we all accept that GW2 is just a game, the immersiveness of it can lead to some of those instincts affecting how we act. And Arenanet operates the entire game on a scarcity model (in the name of the gem store).
I’ll betcha a copper that Anet removes ambients as counting towards achievements. Get ’em done while you can.
Only difference between MF gear and normal gear with similar stats is
the % crit dmg statthat I contribute less to the team so I’m essentially leeching to get slightly better drops because I’m a selfish person who doesn’t respect his teammates, which I dont care about.fixed that for ya (=
You sure do get your panties in a twist about someone getting more imaginary items than you might get. If the game is that real to you, seek professional help.
Stop the bots? Why would Anet do that? The T5/T6 mat drop rate is so low you risk brain death if you deliberately attempt to get them, and Anet takes a nice chunk of change as “tax” when you give up and purchase the items on the trading post which are sold by the botters. Sales tax is a huge gold sink for Anet. Lack of loot tempts people to pay real cash for gems so the can get the gold to buy the mats they need.
Anet has no incentive to remove bots.
@Neural: I’m not blindly certain that Arenanet will give everyone +250% magic find. In fact I’m sure that will never happen, but since I always wore 0%, any increase, even a measly 10% is more than welcomed.
I don’t expect a +250% (or +% equivalent to what my character wears) to be added to the account, but I also don’t think that Anet is going to give us equivalent MF consumables that would allow someone to attain the same level they had previously with equipment.
I have a MF set that I crafted on my own, after gathering the materials while completing the map. It wasn’t some credit card > gems > gold purchase, and took some time. Those items that I chose to craft give me x% boost. I simply find it highly unlikely that Anet will give me consumables in any form that will equal, for example, the MF boost from a golden lotus with MF infusion.
Some will try to justify it by saying that I don’t need the benefit of the MF boost since I now have the benefit of increased stats.
If I wanted that benefit, I’d wear the armor I crafted for that purpose.
The details aren’t fact yet, we all know this, but looking at Arenanets history, I just get a feeling that MF users are going to get shafted on this one. I hope I’m wrong.
I’ve always thought it was a little odd how Arenanet created so many thing in GW2 that were based on convenience (like “deposit all collectibles”, from anywhere on the map! Or not needing to see the heart NPC to finish a quest), yet there wasn’t any interface customization integrated. Would like to see them add a food/utility spot, even if you only have the choice of adding one type of each to it (1 slot for food, 1 for a utility), it would be beneficial.
I’m amazed at how many people just blindly trust Arenanet to simply shift MF values from one source to another. Really? You honestly believe they aren’t going to churn out some kitten replacement that will only be at most 50% effective over the original system?
Oh, and they said that MF is going to be moved to consumables?
What was it the MF haters were demanding? Oh yeah, an “inspect” feature.
Now they get their cake and can eat it too. MF is being removed from gear, and if you dare to use a MF boost, it will show up in your buffs, resulting in a party kick.
I can see it now “LFG CoFp1 Warriors/mesmers only, No MF boosts”
don’t stereotype. especially against a dungeon that is in the brink of its death..
have you ever count the amount of mobs killed inside cof 1?
accept 2 boss, do mobs actually drop anything?
shakes head
MF are useless in cof 1. only the chest and gold matter..
for now..
It was an example. Whether it be dungeons, fractals, or whatever, there is a small group that hates users who use MF. Yes, it makes no sense to run a dungeon with MF gear if it doesn’t affect the outcome, just as it would make no sense to use MF consumables, but, as I said, it was just an example.
The idea of forcing champions to drop a specific type of loot is good, but in the long run I’m going to guess that it’s just PR for Anet. There will be some insanely small drop rate for items of value, and the rest will be trash that is dropped so often that it’s value will be about 5c on the TP.

Oh look. Near-sighted thieves are responding to the thread. They don’t even realize that the insane stealth mechanic is actually keeping them back from being effective in certain areas.
Nice try, but I think most thieves are quite happy with their effectiveness, especially if it irritates people like you.
The only valid use of MF is if you are being a leech, letting other people kill the enemies for you, and simply tagging them. These leeches are bad for the group in some events where a champion or some such might scale up to account for more players being in the fight, even though some of them aren’t contributing to chipping away that scaled up HP pool.
You people have been crying like kitten children over MF for the last year and now it’s going away.
kitten and win with some grace.
snipped for brevity
Are you trolling? 24 hours? Just kittening nuke the stat with no exchange at all then.
Not everyone pulled a credit card to just buy their MF exotic gear, and they certainly didn’t intend to just wear it for 24hours.
Get some perspective guys – the fact Arenanet has promised to do ANYTHING about this is a big step up.
When they killed conditions for mesmers, they did nothing whatsoever to compensate the people who’d built rabid armour sets (Which are wayyyy harder and more expensive to aseemble them MF sets)
This is why I’m concerned about how they are going to handle this one. They’ve proven they have a “sucks to be you” attitude about this stuff when they make changes.
With new materials , existing T6 and T5 prices will go down, cheaper legendaries?
With the new materials being able to be created from T6 mats, I think the price will likely see an increase in the beginning as people rush to build precurors. If I read it correctly, the new materials, in regards to legendary items, will only be used for crafting precursors, not the legendaries themselves. So you’ll still need 250 of each T6 mat in order to craft the appropriate components for the Legendary. The new materials are only related to precursors (when it comes to legendary crafting).
edit: regarding the time gated stuff – Anet has a chance to do something right with that. It’s likely being put in to prevent people from being able to “farm” precursors by crafting them. I just hope they don’t limit things such that the amount of time it takes to craft a precursor doesn’t “encourage” the traditional methods of obtaining them.
(edited by Neural.1824)
Ok, so anyone that reads the forums a lot knows I’m not exactly a fan of Anet, and probably wonders why I play GW2 at all, but..
I have to admit these potential changes have me excited. I don’t trust Anet to not totally screw them up on implementation, but a stopped clock is right twice a day, so I can hope.
Things I don’t want to see:
-If blue/green items have a chance to salvage for MF consumables, I’m hoping that means more than a 0.0000000000000000000000001% chance. If it’s comparable to BLSK chance on Ectoplasm, then sweet, but the consumables need to be done in a way that they don’t kill cooking.
For example, if they introduce a consumable that when salvaged adds +25 to MF for half an hour, and if it over-rides current food items, then things like Lemon Bars and such will be somewhat useless. Countering this problem means either making the new MF consumables something that adds MF to currently applied food bonuses, or, making the probability of a blue/green dropping a consumable so low that people will still need Lemon Bars and so on.
-Crafting precursors. This is a great idea, but it needs to be a gate. As I’ve said elsewhere, I want a “Precursor Fabrication Specialist” title to distinguish myself from those who got lucky at the Mystic Toilet or used a credit card. It would be nice if Anet would also involve something like.. well…crafting to the equation. “Run each dungeon in game 1000 times” is not “crafting”.
-New Legendaries. I don’t have one, but I’d like to build one, and as such I’ve looked at each one available, and paid attention in world to how they look, and so on. Also I’ve read a lot of the threads and seen some of the complaints people have about them. If Anet is going to add new ones, that is great, but please, Anet, polish the current ones as well. Do not just shelve them as finished. There are many examples on the forum of things people would like to see added. Kudzu raining down flowery arrows when using Barrage as an example.
The changes listed in the blog have a LOT of potential. I’m hoping that Anet doesn’t waste it all in the name of the gem store.
Maybe we should wait until we see things implemented before we make demands that make us look silly due to insufficient information.
The OP is simply asking for a reversal of purchase to compensate for the change listed if/when it is put in place.
It is a simple solution to a problem that arises with the change (if they make it), however I don’t think people trust Anet to do something that involves common sense in this respect.
IF they make the magic find change, I would also like a straight refund. They can just remove the amulet from my character and leave the space empty, and drop the laurels back into my balance.
Considering how much money people are dropping on getting precursors through the mystic toilet, I don’t think that Arenanet is exactly motivated to do something else. The messages always seem to be “we’re working on it”
The flute sounds wonderful.
I just want a full scale.
Pleaaaase Anet? [Alt] for half step.
So … get a small group together and go set off events randomly across the map?
If they are going to be kittens about it, make them miserable.
Colin: If I could make a suggestion: Let not this “quest” be to gather more materials than we already need to(fear it turning into a..grind), but a legendary, epic, long, DIFFICULT quest/story chain.
One where the last mission is some mechanically challenging fight that you must solo(no grouping)..not a tank and spank, don’t throw 100 adds at us. A fight that can take 10-15 minutes to solo, one that will cause many wipes and deaths. One that not everybody can do.
I garuntee, it’ll feel epic and legendary then.
Frankly, if it’s going to be that sort of battle to get just part of a legendary, I’d better not do the final forge and then see 4 people standing next to me in LA who just dropped wad of cash and purchased it.
Arenanet killed the entire concept of legendaries by making them not account bound on acquire.
If there is going to be a massive task such as suggested above just to get a precursor, I want a title to go with it, like “Precursor Fabrication Specialist”
Those who build should be recognized vs. those who just have a lot of cash.
Btw, if any of you are like me and somewhat embarrassed to practice in public, you can always use one of the instances in the major cities to practice in peace and quiet.
I use Queen Jennah’s hall in Divinity’s Reach as it is quite quiet other than the birds.
Can anyone help even with a little part of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T51qY3fFLCg (Jeff Rona – Light over Earthsea)?
I think the first bit is 1235^5
(^ meaning go up an octave)
Not sure on the rest. Seems like maybe it’s not in E major? dunno.
Has anyone come up with the notes for the Encounters of the Third kind? You know that Song the aliens play?
No one?
“To get the spaceships’ attention prior to their arrival at Devil’s Tower, the five notes the scientists play are G, A, F, (octave lower) F, C. When they arrive at the tower and are attempting communication, the notes they play are B flat, C, A flat, (octave lower) A flat, E flat.”
I failed music and have no idea how to convert that into do, re, mi, etc
On the flute is 231915 (where 9 drops from high octave to low octave. sustain notes to taste)
It would be nice if anet would allow for sharps/flats via holding alt
edit I was wrong about alt currently changing octives. using alt was my own keybinds. sorry for confusion
(edited by Neural.1824)
rare things are expensive. That’s how the economy works. If you really want the rarest thing in the game be prepared to work for it.
Because entering a credit card number is so hard to do.
I haven’t received anything better than green from a veteran or champion since probably February. I don’t even bother with them anymore.
Oh, and inb4 Vayne and the rest of the zealots jump in with “loot doesn’t matter” “you don’t have to grind” “you don’t have to kill champs” “you don’t have to get a legendary” and so on.
For the records, this is a suggestion, ergo it should have been at the Suggestions subforum. Don’t worry, though, I have reported it and I’m sure a Moderator will move it where it belongs.
Is that you Doc Fury?
<3 the longbow. Have to thank Anet for that one. Now I don’t need a legendary. Saves me a lot of gold.
In b4 nerf.
Some of you never kittening learn do you? Don’t share. Keep your mouth shut or it gets removed.
This, a thousand times. If you find a farm spot, keep it to yourself, or your friends, but for kittens sake don’t tell Anet!
This is getting ridiculous. Every time you turn around there’s some new “bug” that pops up preventing people from getting map completion in one way or another. Last week it was the POI near the jumping puzzle in Genderran Fields. Now it’s the Idea Incubation Lab in Rata Sum.
How rare would you like them to be? I’ll quote my older post in another topic:
The reward chances are broken, I don’t think proof is needed here. For reference point, I’ve committed close to 2000 hours in Guild Wars 2 and have never had an item worth more than 5 gold.
Nobody ever promised that you’d get a precursor in less than 500 hours, 2000 hours, 4000 hours and so on.
You conceived an arbitrary expectation for no reason whatsoever, and now rant because it wasn’t fulfilled.
How long do you propose people play before they’re “worthy” in your eyes, of a reward? Because after investing 2000 hours into something and not having anything to show for it most people are going to quit and tell everyone who will listen to avoid the game.
I still don’t get why you’re defending such a bad game mechanic as rng.
Legendaries and similar skins are supposed to be rare, select few people are supposed to have them.
If you insist on arbitrary numbers, let’s do some arbitrary math with your 2000-hour precursors. A population of 2.000.000 players that plays on average only two hours per day, after a year of farming will generate over 700.000 precursors. With 20 precursor models, that’s 35.000 precursors of each type, after only one year.
If you don’t understand how “unrare” that is, consider that TP currently shows about 10.000 Globs of Ectoplasm. Or, there are only about 20-30 each of the cheapest and kittentiest exotic items that are much more easy to come by.
I would hardly call legendaries “rare” at this point. They are all over the place when you go to LA.
Troll’s End is the best example of what is wrong with jump puzzles in GW2. Not only is it best run as an Asura or with a potion, there are spots where you wind up standing on/jumping off of empty air in order to progress.
Someone at Anet seems to have the demented concept that these problems can be repackaged as “challenging” and that makes everything ok.
In light of some of the more common complaints about WvW, perhaps for now it should say “out-zerged”
A lot of what keeps me away from WvW is the players on my own server. I do okay in WvW, but it gets really tiring listening to the internet badasses spewing their elitist bullkitten every minute of the time there. PvE players won’t try WvW because the H4rdc0re!!!oneone kitten swingers have made it quite clear that they don’t want PvE players even trying WvW out.
If the elitists are so fed up with PvE people, maybe they should stop kittenting on people in the threads where people ask for WvW to be removed as a world completion requireme… oh wait. you want easy targets. Forgot that detail.
In this thread: Campers complaining about not having easy targets.
Something seems inherently broken about the legendary weapons in general. As ridiculous as some of the steps are to get the materials to make one, Arenanet sure has failed on making them “legendary”.
If you spend that much time (and/or money) to get this “legendary” weapon, it should work seamlessly.
Marketing is done using legendary weapons, the weapons are talked about a lot (not just in bad light), promoted almost as end-game content (which, if you are into crafting, is almost accurate).
Yet Arenanet seems to have done a rather kitten job.
It would seem that the popularity of legendary weapons is bringing in a lot of cash for Arenanet, yet apparently they don’t bring in enough to warrant any dedicated attention. Or, more likely, they just don’t care. As long as something sells, who cares if it’s broken, right Anet?
Question for those who know music: How responsive is the horn (assuming low/no lag)? Can you play relatively short notes? Not talking about Flight of the Bumblbee, but moderately short notes even?
Also, has anyone done “Final countdown” yet?
Maybe it’s a typo and Anet meant beers?
