Just some that come to mind:

1. Stop punishing real players for the actions of bots, and turn off DR
2. Make open-world Champions drop good loot, or just get rid of them
3. Drop the self-style hair kit price to 50gems
4. Make dye unlocks account-wide
5. Add a tiny percentage chance of salvaging 1 ectoplasm from master level items or do something to otherwise increase their value so they aren’t just “more junk loot” like blues and whites.

Then one of the players said it comes over as arrogant, to use periods at the end of a sentence. Another guy said he had to kinda agree with that.

In other words, they are intimidated by people who have better grammar and communication skills than they do.

If they don’t want to use proper punctuation, that’s their choice, but if I were a hiring manager, I’d put their resume/application straight into the circular file.

Plenty of women love dark fantasy and science fiction and gaming. In fact, it’s gotten to a point at science fiction conventions where there are more women than men.

I think you’re so right about that… if you want to draw me to a game purely by graphics alone, you would make a Warhammer 40K Inquisition MMO. I loved Space Marine but I couldn’t play it because I kept stopping to watch my avatar stomp the heads off of orcs and ended up getting killed.

Actually I think women have it easier than guys in this regard. We can play Hello Kitty if we’re attracted to it, and we can play Space marine if we’re attracted to it and no-one will seriously question our sexuality. I feel for the guys that are attracted to things that have been labelled feminine. My man still insists that I make him watch Project Runway, even though he’s obviously straighter than a ruler.

I have it real easy. I don’t really care what people think of me. And I like a lot of stuff that “real men” (whatever the hell they are) wouldn’t approve of. In fact, I generally get along better with women than men. I tend to be more sensitive, I tend to be more verbal and I tend to be more communicative, all things generally associated with women.

I can cry while watching a dog food commercial too.

I write poetry. I’ve written romances.

Yeah, I’m a man’s man. lol

My guess is that your wife wouldn’t have you change.

My wife like the Quaggons over the Skritt, but as games go the story is similar, in ways, to Vayne’s.
My wife and I have played games together since Diablo II.
She’s followed me here and there, but this last few years it was Rift, Eve, and now GW2 (side note: We originally looked into GW2 for the pay structure, as it makes it easier for us to stop a few months if needed).
Along the way , we both have met several other female gamers. In my experience so far, it would seem to me that women in MMO’s are more common than most realise, but part of the issue is the reluctance to reveal their gender due to problems that arise from doing so.

The insensitivity in this thread is staggering. Stalkers DO use whatever means they can to “keep tabs” on people, including monitoring game log-ins through friend lists.

To those of you who feel the OP is just being “paranoid,” if you ever got stalked, you’d change your tune — in a hurry.

You seem to be under the impression that those individuals wouldn’t post in this sort of thread in order to defend a system which aids them.

Before I report your post for the blatantly insolent content it has, allow me to enlighten you a little.

1. Nobody is against the ability to go fully invisible, remove followers and block players so that they can’t track you.

2. What people are criticizing are the ridiculous and unrealistic hypothetical situations given to justify it. We don’t need an unrealistic situation to justify something that we can agree would be a nice thing to have.

Report all you want. I was simply stating a fact that Spiral may have overlooked in his/her comment. True, I could have probably worded it better, as it comes across flat in its delivery. It certainly wasn’t intended as a slight against Spiral, with whom I generally agree.

This thread, however, is no different than threads on botting, RMT, or other issues. There’s always someone stretching things to extremes in order to defend their own unconscionable actions.

1. When you use the trading post to buy or sell, are the items you see limited to what is available on your server, or all?

2. Does staying in motion around a PvE target reduce incoming damage (on top of evading/dodge)?

3. Does world map completion include the POI’s inside dungeons? (I know about WvW already)

NOW you’ve completely alienated small guilds in this game with cutting off guild transports for us. I can’t believe this!!
I’m getting more tired of getting the anet shaft with each passing patch and starting to regret buying this game as well as convincing a lot of friends to as well.

Quite a change in requirements huh? Convenient for Arenanet that small/medium guilds that were used to using that feature now have it taken away from them for a period of time that could be conveniently cut short by… :drumroll:… paying real cash

Neural.1824

I love this concept, though I think the f1-f3 skills might be better off if they were focused on defense.
Burst damage would not be as useful as burst defense, in my opinion.
Sacrifice half your defense later (when it’s just a single boss that you and your party are working on) so you can have double defense now while there are multiple mobs alive.
Alternatively, your armor is cut in half now, while you are out of AoE range and perhaps kiting to heal while your party fights, and then you can run in and tank for a short bit while you rez a fallen party member.
I know those are weak examples, but that’s just off the top of my head.
Skills could definitely be focused around things similar to chill and quickening zephyr (manipulation of time buffing yourself/party and de-buffing targets).
Skill 1/auto-attack should be a generic hit with a chance to slow down the target (technically this would be speeding time up for the target, resulting in those in normal time-space perceiving the target as slower).
Skill 2 could be a time stopper (just like a stunn basically). Stops time for the target for 3seconds.
Just thoughts. Would be a fun class to play if done right.

Calling a spade a spade

I’ll call a spade a spade.

“hardcore” is a term most often used by individuals who feel the need to assert some sort of superiority over others in an effort to prove to themselves that they are smart, faster, or just “more manly” than others.
“Hardcore” is “I PvP, you don’t, therefore I am better than you in RL”,
and of course there’s the large segment of the gaming community that thinks “hardcore” is forcing PvP on people who do not want to PvP.

This past month has been a deluge of threads on this forum trying to water that down and blurr it with what is actually dedication.

“Hardcore” has always been about the ego and self glorification.

Anyone else hate Orr?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Neural.1824

The concept of zombies in an MMO as monsters is quite like a zombie itself. It won’t die and it keeps coming back, no matter how much people hate it. Sad really.

My only real complaint with Orr in regards to mob density would be the southern end of Cursed Shore, but I like to solo and don’t do that very well. Malchor’s Leap has a lot of eternally-contested waypoints and champions that no-one bothers with, but I don’t think the mob density is that bad.
The landscape sort of matches the whole undead theme, so it’s hard to say much negative about that.
Overall though? Yeah. I dislike Orr more than any other zone. It’s just a bit monotonous after a while.

The only thing that I cant wrap my head around is the precursors which is ,based on the wiki, is entirely by chance (extremely low chance)

So is a majority of items in this game. Fortunately, you can purchase most items generated by luck through the TP, precursors included.

Kinda makes one wonder if the stuff on the Trading Post is seeded.

Remove the AOE limit.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

I support the removal of the AoE cap, but the zerg issue is an issue on it’s own.
Anet will ignore the problem until the players make it hurt. To that end, it would be interesting to see if three similar time-zone servers could arrange a tri-zerg wheel-of-destruction in EB, where they don’t fight each other, they just follow a pre-set pattern on the map taking over each others areas in an orderly fashion. The proper cooperation could result in an interesting farming effort that might just trip the “ok, time to do something” alarm at Anet.

- Uncapping the aoe limit means farming for mats just became that much more efficient. You’re going to see the bots come back in force, except as staff elementalists instead of bear rangers.

Not sure how true that would be. DR would simply hit faster due to it being some sort of points based system (ref: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Diminishing_returns )

1. It is to laggy (yes, i do have fast internet, fast computer, fast card). I wan’t to see the enemy players from a distance. Now i see a whole groupe of enemy players when i am standing in the middle of it…Too late…

2. I don’t like 4 maps. Just 1 good map is enough.

3. I don’t like to be ‘forced’ to move with a groupe of players. Sometimes i want to play allone, but u can’t do much in WvW. Would love to build my own device to get walls down.

4. I don’t like it that i can not see my team members on the whole map.

I do like pvp in games, but i don’t like pvp in GW2 that much, especially not in WvW

1. The culling patch should have resolved this. If not, check the graphics settings.

2. 4 completely different maps would be nice, or one massive map, but it is what it is.

3. You can. Find a spot with decent supply, buy a trebuchet blue print, build it in an appropriate location, use it.

4. This needs to stay as it is for several reasons, the primary reason being spys. Not being able to see where your own zerg is prevents other servers from knowing where your zerg is.

1. Character refusing to jump when pressing the jump key. This is not a latency issue if you can jump when you press the jump key one step before the affected spot.

I think the issue might be because you are using both hands on the keyboard. There is a limit to how many commands a keyboard will register simultaneously.

I don’t agree on this. I use keyboard/mouse combo for jump puzzles and have had repeated instances where the jump key (spacebar on my system) simply does not function. The same has been reported by two other members of my guild.
The issue of characters just stopping mid-run or in mid-air in regards to forward motion only has occured for us since the mid March patch. Fortunately we’ve not had any JP falls from it, but it is irritating when you go to run-jump and the jump key simply refuses to work.

1 month doing all daily can give you max: 50 laurels. 10 pvp, 10 pve, 1 laurel daily per 30 day=50 laurels.

5 month whit the daily currency= 5×50=250 laurels

so basically you need 20 months doing daily each day including pvp and pve months to get 1000 laurels

so now some genius explain

Simple answer: item sink

All items from Master work and above are soulbound on use. Why should legendaries be special? Because it takes a lot of effort to get one? Volcanus or Infinite Light are exotics and take almost as much time and money to craft. Should they be made account bound too?

I disagree. I think Arenanet is operating based on projected amounts of gem purchases (RL$ – > gems) if they make lengendary weapons, and things like dyes, soul bound, not account bound.

While the items listed would be awesome to have as account bound, the first thing you need to consider is how much real money could be spent in order to obtain these items. Forget that you can do CoF runs for gold and so on, look at it from a simple buy-in perspective.
For that very reason, these things, especially dyes and legendary weapons will never be made account bound.

Simple answer: Money

Where are my gem sales? I want gem sales! Nerf EVERYTHING!

I'm unmotivated.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Neural.1824

Neural.1824

Along with other words that describe my current GW2 mode, unmotivated seems to be a large one.

~I feel like there isn’t end game here.
I understand that we get Legendarys, WvW, and Ascended gear.. but that isn’t End Game for a casual player.

At 9 PM, I get off work. I come home, spend time with my girlfriend until she falls asleep, I silently slink off to the computer room and log on to Guild Wars and usually play around 3-4 hours before it is time for me to slink back to bed and slip, hopefully, unnoticed into bed and sleep again before I wake for class and work the next day.

3 hours a day is not a lot. I am a casual gamer at its finest. I hit level 80 on my Ranger, and played with it a little. I got bored and made a few other classes, only getting them to around 50 or 60. I ended up making a Mesmer and getting him to 80. This took me a long time. Now that I’m 80, again, I , once more, face my delima. I have nothing to work towards.

~Getting a legendary takes time, money, effort, dedication. Things I’m unable to do because of my title as a “casual” gamer. I refuse to log on and spend my 3 hours online running from tree to tree like some sort of cat. I want to log on and enjoy what I have accomplished.
~WvW is cool, but for someone who isn’t a PvP fan, nor someone who wants to get on RaidCall or TeamSpeak to coordinate with players, it isn’t a huge option. This sucks, because it seems this game completely revolves around WvW. When you talk about builds, 97% of the time people talk about, and refer to, WvW. When I first picked Mesmer and talked about builds, I had to stop people and tell them this is PvE ONLY so many times it wasn’t funny.
~Ascended gear, in my book, equates to obtaining a Legendary. It takes time, effort and dedication.

I’m really not sure what I’m looking for here. I guess some advice on what I can do, if anything, to relight the fire for this game. It is a beautiful game, the lore and graphics are stunning. I love my Sylvari, but, there isn’t much for me to do.. What do you guys do when you hit this slump? Do you force yourself into something? Do you go elsewhere and play something else? I need some tips, I guess.

One of the reasons my wife and I joined GW2 was the lack of monthly fee, which allows us, if we choose, to put the game down for a while and then come back to it later. Having a lack of motivation is a good reason to take a break. What you do in that time is up to you, but sometimes forcing yourself to stop for a bit allows for a fresh mindset on returning. Just set aside a chunk of time (a week, a month, up to you) and stick to it. If by the end of that time frame you are not really interested in logging in, then it’s time to look at a long term solution that doesn’t involve GW2.
Legendary weapons are just trinkets as far as the game goes, and frankly I don’t see any reason to work towards one when a major step in the process is gambling.
Ascended items, last I recall, can be purchased with Laurels after doing daily/monthly stuff, but that may not be of interest to you either.
Again, it may be time for a break. It seems Arenanet is making updates monthly, so a small amount of time away from the game could result in coming back and finding something new to do.

Virtually every skin in the game is attainable by everyone with a fairly small amount of effort…most often either dungeon runs for tokens or crafting.

Try crafting a full exotic set using only materials you harvest/loot.
It is no small effort when you are constantly fighting already low drop rates that get crippled by DR. Perhaps you are “uber” like so many others who play the game, but for casual players, it is a pain in the kitten to gather materials in the open world.

The only way things in this game are difficult to obtain is for a player to enforce their own limits. Otherwise, like so many others do, you just pull out your credit card and pay to win.

Depending on what you’ve got already, the training time is around 60 to 70 days, but that doesn’t include modules and… oh wait. wrong game.

Changing the little(?) things

Setting aside the larger issues that exist, as I was jumping ever upward on a puzzle today, some questions came to mind.
The question I have is in regards to those little adjustments that are more of an issue of polishing the game than fixing bugs or adding content.
Using jump puzzles and vistas for an example, there are a number of cases I’ve come across where the landing point on a jump seems like it could have been done better. Something to give it a more solid look than a random leap at an edge that comes out a little further than it visually appears to.
What sort of resources have to be changed in order for a change to be made to correct something, if it is seen as a problem?
I don’t want to assume that it’s all just a matter of moving an edge or two on the mesh structure of the object then queuing that newly modified object up as part of the next patch download. What else has to take place in order for a “fix” to be made?
Does Arenanet want players to file bug reports when they find something that doesn’t quite match up?

Devs should be required...

If only the devs had a place they could go to read users opinions.. on wait.

Forget how often the devs play, I’d like to know the following:
When was the last time they had to change something because “management said so”, even though they, the devs, knew it would be terrible for the game?*
And while I’m at it, how many people in the upper management even understand what the companies product is?

*This is not to accuse the devs of any wrongdoing, but just a question on if it’s happened at all, because there are times I suspect they are getting all the heat for nerfing things when they only made the changes because they wanted to remain employed.
