“Fast and easy money”…….what?? They can go to pve-land and kill like 5-10 mobs in like 5 minutes and get far more than 10s.

More likely reason is they were ticked off by a teammate and say screw it AFK just to get payback. Moral of the story: stop making threads like this, be nice to teammates (even if they do suck b/c you saying raging at them will make it a 5v4), and just play the game. SoloQ doesn’t really get you anywhere in the grand scheme of things, if you get a bad team w/e, it happens to everyone at one point or another.

That is not the case for people who just reached level 80. For them it is fast and easy money

I just had one of MANY games in which there was an afker. Just some kittener who got 10 points and then akitten the whole game for money. Before that I had many games in which it was 4v5 because the dude just wasn’t there. I fed up with it. some noob who wanted fast and easy money, so they just afk and they get 10s for it, plus some progress in their new loot lines. I just can’t stand it. I go to PvP because I want to play PvP, not to be dragged down by new players who suck or even worse, by PvEers who just want some quick cash.

They were recently removed from the Black lion weapon merchant. Would they in time become just as pricey as the Halloween skins? I am asking this because I saw this one gw2spidy: http://www.gw2spidy.com/search/winter%27s?sort_sale_availability=asc&rarity_filter=-1

5 of the skins have 0 listings and 1 has a listing for 2500g, but no one is offering a lot of money. Will they become desirable or will they just become very rare skins no one looks at?

Bullets cannot bounce more than 3 times. Also, bullets can only hit a single target once. If you are fighting 2 enemies, or a ranger and its pet, your damage against your target will not increase. In fact, all your on crit effects might activate on the wrong opponent. Against 2 enemies you will see a 50% increase of damage, overal. Taken into account you lose 200 power and 25% damage from traits, you trade 1.1 × 1.25 = 1.35-1.40 damage for 50% extra damage spread over targets like pets and other things you don’t even want to hit.
In a 1v2 or 2v2 scenario you gain only 10% damage at the loss of being in a 2v2 or 1v1.

If you fight against 3 enemies you will gain around 75% damage
Against 4 this is 88% extra damage.

On paper that is amazing, but in reality this does not happen. The ricochet range is very limited, so even when there are 4 enemies without pets there is a big chance you won’t hit them anyway. Like I said before, a lot of damage will be wasted on pets and minions. If 1 person blocks or evades the bullet anywhere in the chain it automatically won’t continue.

Aside from these limiting factors in dps, you just should not sacrifice 1v1 potential to play p/p in group fights , it won’t work! You die or you burst through your cooldowns and are forced to retreat.

Being significantly weaker in group fights compared to 1v1 is one of the weaknesses of the weapon set and it is exactly why p/p is generally considered bad in the meta. If you try to play p/p in group fights you’re doing it wrong. You’re much better off getting S/P and a short bow. The short bow also has much more effective damage/initiative ratio with cluster bomb. This won’t change just because of the ricochet changes.

Shadow stepping still doesn’t move you to the right location in a lot of locations in PvP. This is weird because it’s PvP. I don’t see why the walking thing is relevant in PvP to begin with.If this were fixed I’d consider it a buff worth ignoring all other nerfs this patch.

As a p/p thief I can say that p/p had a minor nerf. A -1 would be approriate. I explained it in my own thread why these changes were not beneficial for me personally.

Runes and sigils

This is up to you. I suggest Runes of the pack and sigils of air and fire. This gives a lot of swiftness for mobility, damage from power, precision and on crit sigils.

You can also use Runes of Melandru to reduce the condition damage you take and to escape more easily from stuns. Sigils that cause chill can also be used to keep the edge on your opponent mobility wise.


Why don’t the new changes help me?

- Ricochet – In addition to bouncing your pistol shots, this trait now Increase the range of your pistol shots. From 900m to 1050m range increase. Also some bug fixes to how Ricochet works, it will bounce more reliability.

Ricochet is horrible. It is amazing if you want a lot of dps on a point with people, but you don’t. If you want that you so for S/P. It does a lot more AoE a LOT more effectively. You sacrifice DPS and it just sucks overall. The additional range is great and all, but it also means it is more easily blocked by line of sight AND it drops my dps by at least 15% because I put traits in the wrong line.

- Black Powder – interval of the skill increased from 1 to 2s while the duration of the blind applied decreased to 2s. The projectile still applies 2s of blind.

A nerf never helped anyone.

- Unload – Cast time reduced from 1.75s to 1.5s for overall 20% reduction

This only means I run out of intitative faster and it does nothing for my overal performance. I am a bit more spikier but that was never a problem to begin with. More spike damage in a game is not a good thing. It reduces skillful play.

- Panic Strike – duration of immobilization too long (5.25s baseline), reduced it to 2.5 s. Reduced the cooldown from 30s to 20s so you will be able to use it more often.

This change means an overall reduction in my time to rejuvenate while they are bound.

- Flanking Strike – Initiative cost of Flanking Strike and Larcenous Strike have had their initiatives costs changed. Flanking cost gone up from 3 to 4 initiative while Larcenous Strike gone down from 2 to 1 initiative cost. Flanking Strike now requires a hit to turn into Larcenous Strike.

This means I can no longer go ‘in debt’ as easily, making it harder to sustain myself. Also finishing people when they are low and blocking is no longer possible.


This is my personal view on p/p and why these updates are bad for me, personally, someone who has been playing p/p in PvP since forever. I am rank 60 with 3k hours on my Thief should anyone be interested in my internet points. If anything is unclear, feel free to ask!

I have been playing p/p in PvP for as long as I can remember. It is a VERY strong setup, but it requires a lot of timing to survive.
I am posting this after reading the upcoming changes and to tell why these won’t make p/p more viable than it already is.

The weapon setup is p/p and s/d.

My traits vary a lot depending on the map and the opponents, but what never changes is my utility skills.


Utility skills

6: Withdraw

This allows me to stay mobile and it’s an additional evade.

7: Roll for inititive

This allows me to stay mobile and it’s an additional evade. Also a stunbreaker.

8: Shadow Refuge

A very deadly skill because of the projectile finishers that deal damage and this skill heals for around 3, depending on the amount of finishers you can get off.

9: Shadow Step.

This allows me to stay mobile. Also a stunbreaker.

0: Basilisk Venom.

For stuns and nukes!


My weapon set

As you can see my utility skills are there to make sure I have the right angle on opponents, to make sure I don’t get hit and to evade incoming damage.
If they catch you, you are dead while in the p/p weapon set. That is what we have s/d for.
S/D is for:

- countering blocking opponents to finish them when they are blocking while on low hp.
- surviving when being caught.
- surviving when you are out of initiative. (because of the nature of skill 3 you can go ‘in debt’. You can start it, and finish it when you have the other 2 initiative.)
- Surviving when you are on CDs. (shadow stepping to an opponent, running away, returning and shadow stepping into the other direction to create space between you and your opponent before returning to p/p when your CDs are gone.)

p/p is for:

-Damage
-immobilizing before throwing gunk.
-blinding to ensure finishing
-blinding for defense while on CD for your weapon swap. Dagger 5 is much more effective at escaping than blind.
-interrupting (stomps)


Traits

As for my traits, they are all about damage. If you play p/p, you play to kill before it can catch up to you and kill you. Ricochet is useless. It makes you weaker as you have to sacrifice 10% damage from minor 3 in power (10% extra damage while the opponent has a condition) alone. Aside from that you give away 100 power and 10% condition duration. Condition duration is amazing for cc conditions. Do NOT use ricochet, it’s a waste.

These are my traits:
Power:
- Mug, because it’s awesome
- sundering strikes, it keeps up the 10% damage bonus from minor 3. Also it can easily go up to 8 on an opponent. 8% extra damage for all allies on this target? yes please!
This one also has another cool aspect. For generic condition removal, the most recently applied condition or conditions will be removed first. This one will almost always be the most recently applied condition, so this also wastes their condition removal.
-Panic Strike, this is amazing for locking them down while you unleash your burst on them. It gives you time to wait for your CDs and to start over again. Most of the time it is best to auto attack now as they start blocking and you can dps them right when they use damaging skills.

Critical strikes:
Pistol Mastery for 10% extra pistol damage.
Combo critical chance. For 5% extra crit chance on unload and flanking strike.
Exicutor for 20% extra damage while they are below 50% HP

The other 10 points depend on the rest of what you want. Do you want to snipe Forest creatures? Get 600 extra range on steal. Do you want more DPS? Get fury on steal. Do you want more condition removal? Get condition removal on stealth. Do you want more evades? Get vigor on healing.

Buying a new laptop

Hey there!

I’ll be moving out soon and I need to buy a laptop for uni so it has to be able to do a couple things:

- Run GW2 (preferably on decent settings)
- have 2+ USB ports (mouse and keyboard)
- The price has to be around 600-1000 Euro

Does anyone have any suggestions? Either what to look for in the laptop or a laptop in particular and why that one.

I think this would be the BEST update since launch. Seriously! Finally there would be intensive to cross the landscape! Finally Events saying it’s the only way to get to a place so we have to defend it would make sense! If we want to cross that bridge and get to the other side we’d actually have to do the event! There are no mounts in this game for a reason. All of a sudden the whole game is the end game like Anet promised to us.

I sure as hell hope this is actually happening!

What if, like we rumored at launch, the Sylvari and the Pale Tree exist to combat Mordremoth. What if Ventari’s Tablet and it’s current influence the Pale Tree keeps the Sylvari from going in their all out frenzy to find and kill Mordremoth.
Ventari’s Tablet is unique to this Pale Tree. Previous Pale trees, if they grew to combat Mordremoth, did not have this as it is specific to Ventari. He only lived once. He did not put any other Tablets at other Pale trees.
Ventari’s Tablet says the following:

I. Live life well and fully, and waste nothing.
II. Do not fear difficulty. Hard ground makes stronger roots.
III. The only lasting peace is the peace within your own soul.
IV. All things have a right to grow. The blossom is brother to the weed.
V. Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil or sorrow.

Let’s analyze this.
I. Be good.
II. Act when a challange is upon you.
III. Stay calm.
IV. Even if you think something is evil (Mordremoth in this case but Ventari might have had no idea) You are both plants and you are brothers.
V. Act.
VI. stay calm and act.
VII. Explore.

The soundless turned away from the Pale Tree and Ventari. They do not stay calm. They go in an all out frenzy when they sence Mordremoth. Who says they are being controlled by Mordremoth? Scarlet was crazy. She went to great extends to achieve her goal. She cut him off from more magic. She disturbed the Lay lines. Scarlet WEAKENED Mordremoth by cutting off the magic supply from the lay lines. We will thank her later, and she knew it.

TL;DR Scarlet went in an all out frenzy to kill Mordremoth. This happened because the Pale Tree and the influence of the Ventari Tablet was limiting her. She turned away like the soundless so she was no longer limited by the Pale Tree. Then her real Sylvari nature kicked in.

I just managed to get into an EU overflow without any lag. If you want to play in Dry Top I can taxi you or maybe all the lag in all overflows is gone. Either could be a solution
We can even set up a T4 run next hour.

There used to be a server lag a couple times per hour and only in Dry Top. I am sure many people did not notice it because of the low frequency. Like everyone said, at this point it’s unplayable.

Ever since this map came out there has been immense server lag in there, but now it’s getting worse to a point we just can’t play anymore because there is a DC every 5 seconds. I tried guesting but it doesn’t matter, the server lag is always there and everyone on the map is experiencing it.
Are you guys working on it and is there any sight on a fix? I don’t need a date, just a comment that Anet is aware of it and trying their hardest to fix it should do. I know you guys don’t like to set us up for disappointment. Thanks.

As someone who doesn’t really play on his warrior all too often, can someone explain the big difference between not having adrenaline and having a full bar? According to Josh Davis warriors are highly relying on the adrenaline mechanic in order to do well.

Devs, the way you see the proffesions is not the way they are. I can only speak for warrior and Thief as I play only those proffesions. Warriors can burst IMMENSE damage. Thieves are great at long fights with perma dodge.

High damage is predictable. Not just long cast timers but it should be easily predictable when the hit will be. Long cast timers make it so you use your damage mitigation too early and do not help to see when the strike will actually land.
Low healing
Few ways of damage mitigation.
Bursts are even more predictable than the other attacks.
REALLY LOW condition removal.

Engineer:
Strengths →
Access to many combination fields and finishers.
Access to turrets.
Access to a LOT of boons.
A lot of access to non-damaging conditions.
Access to a lot of CC.
Access to boon stripping (to combat stability in particular)

As I said earlier in different thread.
If I could beat Liadri on Laptop, low settings, with zerg bellow me, playing on NA server from EU with Clearic armor and Zerker accessories on Guard.
Excuses of bad people.
Maybe you should play sPvP or heck, even WvW, to improve your fighting skills.
PvE zerglings crying over “not easy spam 1 auto attack while eating tacos” content.

a) its not really such a pain to beat her, its a pain to get the 8 orb achivement with invis mobs

b) the fight is tho about gear very much, you need a specific level of dps and at least 2k toughness/some regen to keep you up for a while

c) guard pve builds have innately 6 free blocks against her instakills.

I did it on my thief without any toughness, healing power, vitality, blocks, vigor, regen, evade replenishments, food, stealth and my build was 30-30-0-0-10.
All that you need to do is spam unload and walk in circles. THAT’S IT. Hold A and press V whenever she is a little bit too close. It is THAT simple.
How hard could it be to get the 8 orbs?

No they won’t be. In 1 year we might be able to get them again and maybe not. Imagine we won’t be able to get them anymore. If you see someone it still means they might have gotten them in this month instead of at the south sun release. That makes a world of difference. There is no prestige connected to it to show you were there. It is only a rare item now. That’s why they have been ruined.

There are plenty of other obscure items out there if you want to show off that way. That isn’t the point of the account bound stuff. It’s to show YOU were there, playing GW2. Not that you invested time into GW2. Time/Gold=> obscure/ rare/ expensive items.
With 1 patch they reduced all items to the same catagory. That’s what’s so disappointing.

First off I would like to say I love the update, The gauntlet and the Zephyr Sanctum were up there in my favorite updates. I love the return of this update, but there is one thing I am extremely disappointed about. It’s the return of the account bound rewards from previous LS updates. All the prestige associated with them, the rarity of seeing them, it’s all gone. The only way to distinguish yourself now is with gold. Farm a lot and buy the most expensive items. That’s it. There is nothing to show that ‘you were there’ even though that’s EXACTLY what those account bound items were for.

I am just really disappointed with the decision to return the account bound items.

As a Thief I am all for upping the initiative cost for evasive shot but not for any of the other changes. S/D is really draining on the initiative pool already. Besides, thieves only have 2 damage skills on each weapon combination. The dual skills and auto attack. for shortbows it is clusterbomb and auto attack. Thieves can only use these skills if the opponent fails to put pressure on the thief so we can DPS freely. This is exactly why it is good to nerf PW. It’s evade is too long and it does not match this philosophy. I can agree that SB 3 could use a nerf as it breaks the action. It is not skillful to spam 3, then V, then stealth and or heal. It breaks the pace of the game.

The other weapon sets are in a good spot because they are not spamable. People say they are, but they are not. You run out of initiative and if you are running in full zerker every mistake is deadly. Running out spells your death.

Where guardians have heavy armour, a lot of boons and heals, cc and support, we have stealth and some evades.

It’s been one day since the mental breakdown of my main character Azami Sasaki. Even though the tumor in her head magically resolved itself her leaves are slowly becoming paler and she doesn’t seem to enjoy slaughtering skritt anymore. Her situation is slowly becoming critical. 5 minutes ago she randomly waypointed to Rata Sum and started crying next to Moto, begging for him to give her her fix. What should I do? I am worried she will never be the same again!

“I’m under your spell” just seems so suspicious and I don’t see how it is relevant to humans in GW2 so it must be relevant to Logan himself. I have never heard a character in game use a phrase like that before.

After using an upgrade extractor I managed to get a ring like this, without any infusions. Does this mean I can put in an offensive and an omni-infusion? So I’d be able to get +10 stats on a ring rather than just +5?

SAB I beg you, please return it and make it HARD. Not just hard but HARD HARD. The kind of orichalcum hard that is too hard to make that’s what she said jokes about because it’s too hard for her to enjoy it.

Its time this got what it deserves. No atk skill that has evade should be this spamable. It costs 4 init dodges and cripples. It is stupid how spamable.

No i did not lose to it. Its just a stupid thing to have. Every thief that fails hard with his/her back stab whips this out and goes 3333333. Its dumb and can be easily spammed. If you spec for a high init build this thing is stupid.

Remove the dodge and just leave it for the cripple.

And I still stand by revamping the skill to something like move back way faster, short daze and steal a boon on interrupt. maybe gain swiftness.

All I am saying is that skill 3 is really lame. Cutting on the evade and getting something else like traveling backwards way faster without the evade and with a daze instead of cripple. Maybe add a boonsteal on interrupt.
People are really easy to jump the bandwagon about how bad thieves have been nerfed already so all we should see is buffs. I am just suggesting a change that may or may not turn out to be a nerf.

I have played thief since BWE 2. I loved the profession back then and I still love it, but it pains me to see people playing thief that evade endlessly. Spamming 3 on their short bows while dodging and auto attacking. Every now and again they move in for a nuke but that’s it.

Would it be too much to ask for some more nerfs on the short bow rather than more nerfs on the vigor uptime. The short bow is the real evil here.

What do you guys think? Should the short bow be nerfed more?

I wanted to extract my precise infusion from my ascended ring so I bought an upgrade extractor, sadly it does not let me click anything. According to the extractor there are 2 upgrades on it when there should only be 1. The +5 agony Infusion is not an item, it’s something that is given to the item after infusion in the mystic forge.

I want to extract my precise infusion but it does not let me click it so I am not sure what will happen, and I don’t want to risk making a wrong decision.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

EDIT: comparing the way my screen looks when trying to extract from a weapon suggests that my extractor will bug and separate the wrong item if I click extract . Can a dev confirm if it is indeed bugged or if this function correctly.

1. solo content with solo rewards to show off how good you are at the game. So showing off with skill rather than a time sink. (obviously untradable)
Battles that do not rely on one trick to win but dealing with hazards in which the player can decide what to do. Don’t make a single thing unforgiving so that there is room for decision making by the player instead of forcing them how to play. This is all about letting the player show off what he or she can do and how good they are. It is OK to make them ridiculously difficult, just not in 1 way or force the player into being able to master 1 thing.

examples; keep in mind the items have to show off skill, not that “you were there” like with temporary content:
-Queens gauntlet but tons harder.
-Queens gauntlet in a wave format.
-The adventure box tribulation mode. (Do NOT combine the two)
-Surviving in an area with monsters with nothing but you ability to avoid. increasing difficulty with waves.
- The same as above while having to accomplish an objective that does not require jumping

What not to do:
The 2nd achievement for Liadri the Concealing Dark because is too much about being able to survive with statistics and too little about skillful timing.
- add torment or confusion.

Examples of how to make that fight harder:
- make the time limit more limiting
- Give her retaliation based on the damage you deal, not the amount of hits. (nuking her will nuke you, no matter your method of doing so)
- add a ring on the outside of the arena where you’ll also die so you can’t recklessly dodge.
- make this ring grow bigger the more time goes by.

2. more discontinued items that are tradable to create exclusive items to show you are one of the few who were able to obtain them (think Halloween 2012 skins)
Current players will be rewarded for playing more and more because they acquired the skins first. New players will want to skins to look cool so they pay more, this increases the status of old players without having to do anything for it. In the end people will feel it is better to play NOW rather than later, making them want to play the game NOW. If that feeling is there all the time it binds players to the game.

3. No weapon skills animations that look different. We have to memorize a lot of skills already for PvP. Now we’d have to know all the versions of the same skill as well. If you make different versions of those skills it’s even harder to see what is going on. GW2 has a surplus of effects already. If people can turn the special animations off people won’t value the animations anymore making them worthless. I think it’s a great idea not to make them to begin with.

This used to be fixed but apparently it reversed the fix!

I tested to break the ele’s air atonement launch with my roll for initiative. (thief utility)

But it is unbreakable again.

All 0.25 second skills in gw2 are half a second in reality. The same goes for headshot (pistol offhand 4). It should be an instant skill but in reality it takes about 0.25 seconds for the shot to start flying. Just like Unload (p/p 3 skill) is said to be 1.75 seconds but it is 2,25-2,5 seconds in reality. Everything takes more time.

This is a core issue that has been around since the start of the game. I am sure they know this already but they are failing to patch it for some reason :\
