There used to be a PvP leaderboard there. Where did it go? Is there no longer such a thing as Match making rating? Is it visable from in game?
I finished doing my 32 tribulation mode runs and it was glorious. Even though I found out there is a way to cheat it by buying runs, I didn’t do that nor did I sell any of my runs. I just jumped, and jumped and jumped and jumped and I loved every moment of it.
Now I’m done. There is no reason for me to go back into the super advanture box because I already have all rewards. Even moto has nothing more to offer for my bauble baubles.
I wish there were more rewards because I’d love to go back in there!

Why isn’t anyone suggesting pistol auto-attack to change into combo like daggers for exaple? First attack is like opener, more damage, no bleed, second in chain can be added bleed, third could be short daze or something more fancy (the more bullets you fire into something, the better chance to stop them if they run towards you, or some kind of idea like that behind the autoattack). It would add quite a bit of depth.
And unload with baseline Ricochet would make other skills even more useless. Rather, buff skills 2 and 4.
2 could be small radius AoE with cripple and 4 could be piercing with more initiative cost, possibly longer range than other skills and much more damage (it’s HEAD shot after all). I was really looking forward to pistols when i started game and chose thief, but after realising how terrible and boring gameplay that is I just stopped bothering in coming up with some build that could not be terrible.
This can easily be fixed. A trait to reduce initative cost on pistol skills by 1 if and only if the player has 2 pistols equiped. This would mean that bodyshot gets a 25% buff, unload 20%, headshot 25%, black powder 17%, but only for people who run p/p. If they do this they can even up the baseline ini cost of unload to 6 if they only want to buff body shot, headshot and blackpowder for p/p.
They have the money, they can pay the 2s we get from helping farmers defend their cattle, and yet they pretend to be stuck in the jungle. I don’t get it.
Can someone explain it to me?

Right now it’s clunky. This would fix that:
-Remove all after casts from the evades, staff and physical abilities.
-Remove all rooting from the evades, staff and physical abilities.
-Remove all spinning from the abilities.
-Change all movements where the direction of your character changes from the camera direction (evade GM)
-Make the vault jump time and animation equal to the Hammer burst from warrior.
How long will it take for me to get my additional character slot? It was not listed in the pop up when I redeemed the serial code I got through buy.guildwars2.com. I’ve been playing for 3 years.

Yes it is. Same amount of bleeds, same initiative usage rate, you don’t even need to touch them to get your stealth, you also apply lots of blinds for the same cost.
I was going to argue that p/d dual skill is an important aspect of condi thief but then I realized that is bullkitten because you could have a few blinds and 5 bleeds instead without going to them.
The build would be even more viable for close fighting because of the constant blind fields you keep up.
It’s the world upside down. A zerker set used for conditions, but the zerker set is not viable anymore.
Maybe the set will start working for sinister.

No because condition damage was nerfed on zerker builds your p1 from stealth doesn’t deal damage even near the amount required to compete with d/p.

Sneak attack used to be as strong as backstab, sadly that is no longer the case. Not even remotely.
Dagger/pistol play will be much better at using this leap than p/p. What a surprise.

As you know leap finishers generally apply its effect at the end of the leap. Will the intended functionality be that we cannot use it with a smoke field near enemies or that the damage is dealt first and after that we will get the stealth?
It would mean we deal more damage if we equip a utility that exists for more doing more damage. I don’t know.
Why did they remove ricochet and the +10% damage trait in the first place? I’m a bit lost here. What was it supposed to accomplish? Why did p/p need nerfing?
P/p suffers from:
-less initiative regen since the update
-removal of ricochet
-removal of the +10% damage trait
-not having a 2nd melee weaponset if you want to be mobile in PvP.
-not enough accessible defensive capabilities. (high ini costs on interupts and blinds, no stealth on the weaponskills, no mobility on the weaponskills.)
This list is awful even if they add ricochet back. P/P is worse than kitten right now and they nerf it some more. WTF.
Whatever it is, in PvP it’ll require a Shortbow to do +1ing and the 2nd set is not going to be p/p.
We’ll probably run something along the lines of SB – d/p in the old meta, except this time we’re replacing acrobatics with dare devil.
They nerfed Acrobatics to the ground and then added this kitten. They are making it seem like a new addition or a buff but this is just bullkitten. We could already do 3 dodges! They didn’t even give us ricochet back! What the hell!

You’re not getting a response. They don’t ever reply in threads in the thief section. It doesn’t matter your arguments are valid. All that matters is people who don’t play thief QQ and they want to please those people.
As you are building a P/P you have to take into consideration you’ll have very little utility to survive in your weapon skills. This means damage increasing utilities are a no-go. I advice roll of initiative, shadow refuge and shadow step along with withdraw. Basilisk venom is still much better than all other options.
Another thing to take into considering is that your 1v1 nuke is one of the best in game so play into that! Use your life steal combo with your stealth skill and trait for mug. Also use fire and air runes.
But in order to get a great bust you’ll need damage. So take 30-30-0-0-30 because this will maximize your damage.
From there the traits are pretty obvious.
The last thing you need to take into consideration is that p/p takes a lot of initiative so you’ll need another weapon set with a lot of maneuver capabilities that is also low on initiative cost. You could use shortbow, but since skill 3 is really kitten at disengaging and skill 5 is really costy I’d recommend sword because of the skill 2. The offhand is up to you but if you go pistol don’t expect to be using your pistols much if you decide to use pistol whip.
4 people dislike initiative, what are they even doing here. They don’t even play thief.
I really like PvP but I am quiet tired of +1ing all day and decapping. I’d like to do some 1v1s and 2v2s too.
It’s not as awesome as +20% damage below 50% HP
Exactly, it used to be good as a split skill but now it’s just kitten because it only swaps when you hit an enemy. So you’ll have to land 2 hits in a row. 2 hits with huge tells. This is just useless and makes the second skill utterly useless. It’s unblockable? Who cares! If you land the first hit you won’t need it to be unblockable and they can still avoid it. If the first hit is blocked you won;‘t be able to hit with an unblockable hit. It’s utterly useless like this.
It is less damage than a shatter mesmer would have dealt from stealth. You’re probably a light armour proffesion with full zerker stats. You probably get hit hard by everything.
We need more mobility in order to be masters of mobility again. We need to have something we excel at that does not rely on your weapon choice. A ton of professions have mobility that is not affected by movement limiting conditions. This buff to them is a major nerf to us. We used to have mobility, stealth and spike damage. This was nicely combined into the steal button but now the mobility in combat is diminishing as it’s a very relative thing in it’s nature. You’re only more mobile than your opponent if your opponent isn’t as mobile as you. This is why thiefs got so many criple output, to be more mobile than our opponents. If we don’t have this all we have is stealth and stealth is only good for breaking combat. Mobility is what keeps us alive IN combat. We NEED it because it’s our biggest form of damage mitigation and part of what makes thief a thief. We NEED it back. If you don’t want mobility creep like the power creep that has been going on you’ll need to nerf every other proffesion by limiting their mobility but I don’t think that’s the solution at this point. We need to get mobility buffs in terms of range increases of every teleport and movement skill as well as buffing the effect of movement skills.
Without it thiefs are useless and just an area to dps without any armour or health. We need more mobility.
I had that mindset when I discovered p/p and celestial eles countered me. They countered me because they had the mobility catch up and still deal a lot of damage. Now every proffesion has that and I’m not sure if I can deal with it because I used to put out a lot of damage in bleeds as well but now that’s gone I just don’t know how to break the circle of nerfs. I guess I should try harder once more. It’s a shame it had to come to this where my skill needs to be double of theirs in order for me to beat them. It does make the game a challange.

Scratch the points I made in my earlier post about Ricochet. Since they nerfed the condition damage in zerker gear p/p is uterly useless.
Only a sinister stat set could make it work but we don’t have that in PvP.
I can no longer survive as a thief simply because I have nothing to keep my alive anymore. I can not defend mysefl and deal damage at the same time. We were always forced to go full zerker in order to be of any importance but now I can no longer do that anymore.
Now there is 0 room for mistakes because I just get one shot by proffesions with more health, armour and mobility.
I used to be able to survive and get away with shadowsteps, roll for initiative and stealth after bursting someone. Now they just shake off the stun and nuke me to the ground even when I am disengaging. My mobility deminishing conditions don’t do anything anymore and the effect they have is reduced because we no longer have condition duration.
My pistols don’t deal bleeding damage anymore and they no longer ricochet. My backstabs deal less damage than the burst combos of other proffesions.
So basically:
- We have no superior bursts
-We have no superior mobility
- We have inferior health
-We have inferior armour
-We cannot spec into defensive stat sets because that will render us useless because our bursts will be laughable and we have no access to the AoE and sustain of other proffesions to make tanking the damage work.
-pistols are more useless than ever because it no longer deals bleeding damage in zerker and they no longer ricochet.
What exactly is our role supposed to be in PvP? What should we be achieving?
A lot of you seem unaware that since the ricochet update p/p became a lot less viable. There are many reasons for this:
1. Ricochet used to attack more slowly. This lead to us being able tokeep shooting and them not being able to dodge as much.
2. P/P was never the best at AoE damage, but it was always the best at 1v1 burst damage (way more than backstab, test it out yourself). Adding AoE at the cost of 1v1 damage is not a good idea.
3. P/P relied on S/D because the 3 skill was used in 2 turns so you did not have to cough up 5 initiative immediately, as S/D was nerfed to the ground P/P died
S/D nerfs:
1. 2 is no longer a teleport
2. 3 no longer steals 2 boons
3. 3 cannot be set up anymore to attack withput hitting anything removing a finishing burst.
4. you can no longer set up on blocks
People here seem to think Ricochet was major to P/P but it never was. The nerfs listed above killed p/p
I think the current changes will be a major buff to p/p d/d so I look forward to seeing how it works out.

upon opening the Ttrading post I get the usual error pop up and it says: net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED
This does not affect my game in any way. It does not crash, I just can’t access the TP.
This started happening yesterday. Does anyone know how I can fix this? My game has no lagg and I can play everywhere just fine, I just can’t access the Trading Post.
I read it as the won’t work outside range anymore x.x I was wrong.

I don’t want to kill that dull vegetable. If I have to do it, his death won’t be slow and painful. I’d prefer it if there is a campfire in the new map where the thing is being roasted, and when you come near it you can interact with the creature to stab it with a glowing blade and it will scream in agony.
My PvP rank hasn’t updated in a while, when can I expect it to update?
It seems the option to search by quality has vanished from the BLTC. Is there a hidden way to search for masterwork items only?
That same philosophy applies to p/p s/d except you use utilities for the correct positioning rather than stealth to avoid damage. The difference is d/d has a greater spike but it can’t keep the damage output up constantly without being exposed. Also stealth can protect you from whole flocks of player whereas positioning can not.
The problem with a dropping dps is that your opponents heal. Your effective damage starts where it out-damages their healing capabilities. A 10% drop in raw dps can mean an effective drop in DPS up to anything as high as 90% depending on the opponent. This is where spike damage suffers more than a constantly sustainable high dps. Burst damage suffers more from an effective DPS drop than a constant flow of dps because a constant flow has a higher output damage. Spike damage is effective because it evades the healing of your opponent so you increase your effective damage by going ‘around’ the limiting factor.
This is why p/p is so effective after the recent DPS nerf. It was less effected by the recent drop in DPS because the damage you put on your opponent is maintainable over a longer period of time. This damage will only increase when unload gets a 20% buff, given you can keep your initiative rolling.

I don’t see 1v7s happen anymore. Those were based on burst damage and stealth. Now our bursts have been nerfed and are continuing to be nerfed I don’t see it happening anymore. Currently I run p/p with some immense spikes in it but I don’t see myself pulling a 1v7 unless they are incredibly bad warriors.

It reveals me when I am at 25% instead of stealthing me. This kills me almost every time it happens. Also my shadow step doesn’t work when I click on the icon of my opponent. It doesn’t shadow step me to the area I targeted but instead it teleports me to my own location. It’s pretty useless.
