I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Weird, because I’ve just started playing sPvP with a power-based damage wells-necromancer. I’m set up for what I think is probably mostly survival/bunker/life transfer and I keep running into opponents that simply turn to dust when I hit them. The only condition I use is vulnerability (and just a hint of blind).
Maybe matchmaking is giving me teams of similarly total newbies, but I’m not finding conditions especially threatening. ((shrug))
Can’t remove runes from gear without destroying the gear or using a cash shop extractor.
Can’t guarantee getting a rune back salvaging unless you use the cash shop salvage kits.
Can’t move runes to new gear because of the transmutation stone changes.
Can’t salvage certain gear at all, have to buy extractors.
Or go buy new runes from the flipper’s paradise. I’m sure they’ll love your business. Why would anyone want to play a game that puts you in this situation?
This is not news. This has been true for almost 2 years. Why the sudden rancor?
I have to agree: separating them into 5 clusters of three at the end would make them a lot easier to work with.
The Wardrobe is a great tool, but it can be polished further .
Oh, the one that just received nothing but nerfs, 5 grandmasters that aren’t worth taking over anything that already exists, suffered the highest overall DPS loss of any class from the ferocity change, and had their only viable rune set in competitive PvP (Lyssa) nerfed? No, I haven’t heard of them. Please elaborate on how they’re OP.
Do you know WHY comprehensive nerfs like that get handed out? It’s not a dart board or slips of paper out of a hat process – its because they’re GROSSLY OVERPERFORMING.
Good thief players will continue to be competitive.
It’s funny to see this damage reduction is growling larger with each thread.
10%, 25%, 50%It won’t be long until we get a thread where people claim our dps was reduced by 95%.
The amount of “suck at math” on display this week has been terrifying.
tbh this is how crit damage should haven been calculated from the beginning. I don’t even care if it’s a 10% or a 50% nerf, I’m just sad that they didn’t tell us about the change before they released ascended armor so people can craft their items accordingly. Now I have to go through the painful process of getting another set. I was really expecting them to give us a 1 time change in stats like they did with magic find rings for their mistake.
For reals? What set are you thinking of changing to?
ya man i agree with ya lol .
but conditions over power condition clears WAY TO EASY NOW.
Then play it. Play it hard. Play it until the meta-data they gather every second of every day says “there is a problem”.
I expect to play about the same, maybe a bit more.
Agree with the comments above. Also just want to point out that your post about “all” runes being reworked is not true. Runes of Antitoxin have not been touched.
Yup. These are clearly working on the outdated scale.
Consider 6/6 of~
Runes of Orr — 175 condition damage; +30% poison duration; 25% chance when struck to poison for 10s; when stuck below 20% health gain quickness for 5s
Runes of Rata Sum — 175 precision; +30% poison duration; +15% weakness duration; 50% chance when struck to cast Radiation Field
Runes of The Afflicted — 175 condition damage; +30% bleed duration; +15% poison duration; Deathnova when downed
Runes of the Sunless — 175 condition damage; -15% incoming condition duration; Elite inflicts torment and poison on nearby foes

I may be misinterpreting their intent, but they seem to know something screwy is going on.
It appears the Devils Horns town clothes item is also MIA.
There is already a red-name comment in the Dev tracker saying they are looking into fixing this .
Hi my question is, when we buy skins from the gem shop, like the primeval armour set, can that skin be reused?
Yes – the skin becomes available in the wardrobe and you have the item to make one transmutation free.
So far, so good .
So… move with the tides or throw up your hands and admit you can’t play any way but the way you’ve gotten used to.
Guys, dang near everything in this patch can be found in a CDI from 3 months ago.
The ranger CDI is only 1 month old – we’ll see the results of it in about 2 months.
I’m going to take more than the usual amount of pleasure in seeing this thread ignored by the Devs.
So if Zerker is leaving, where is it going?
What stats are you switching to? Because there is nowhere Berserkers was effective that it’s not still the most effective.
You said you “rework almost all sigils” , then tell us why:
1. Why sigils with “on heal” skills have 10sec CD?
– the shortest heal possible is 12sec anyway
– it limits all these sigils for very certain builds that have a viable short CD heal skill (thievs, engies) making them stronger while making other builds weaker.2. Why sigils “on elite” skills have 45sec CD?
– only 3 elite skills in the whole game have this short CD (or less).
Again making these builds stronger (warrior, necro , thief) while all others weaker.
Mantra of recovery is faster than 15 seconds. You already know there are faster elites.
In general, since you can’t SEE the cooldown on these, they want it short enough it doesnt’ matter.
Question answered.
Maybe they are hoping there will be.
So I’m going to bump this thread until I get an official statement from Anet on why this was nerfed by 25%
The game itself is an official statement. You don’t need another one.
They wanted a lower cap on boon duration. How much more hand holding do you need to understand it?
People trying to maximize crit damage get curb-stomped. People trying to maximize general stats/rounded abilities get a 30% buff.
You may notice a trend with this patch .
You need to pull them out of the mail and then double click them 5 times.
Thanks! We have further confirmation of Book of Secrets issues here.
I had to enter sPvP lobby about 4 times before it actually transferred my PvP gear into the wardrobe. I got a mail talking about it when it (finally) happened. you may need to cycle in and out a few more times to trigger it.
Prices on the most expensive dyes quadrupled. Funny how almost every change ArenaNet makes raises in-game costs. Getting to the point where you need thousands of gold to afford customization choices.
Really? Which ones? Because everything I looked at was down.
Not. Going. To. Happen.
Yup. 36s on basilisk venom. 48s on signet of rage.
The 10% that people toss around without having actually listened to the original quote is around 10% to total damage inflicted. The crit damage reduction was always going to be significantly higher than that.
I think they lowballed it or didn’t understand just how extreme the typical power-based damage build has become. but looking at your numbers your total loss as a percentage of your previous value is right in the expected range, depending on your crit chance.
Hi! I’ve found at least 2 skins that were missed/overlooked in the new wardrobe.
The Green Quagan backpack released as a promo for buying $50 or more during December is missing.
The heavy ‘Guild Defender Boots’ are missing – they are NOT the same as the banded boots.
If you have noticed any other skins missing please add them to the list here! Thank you !
There’s no ratio between 1.6 and 1.3 that comes out as +/- .3 — Don’t use subtraction to try and determine relative effect .
I’m really curious to se how much of the Wardrobe I populate just by logging in .
And merging my dye collections (different characters focused on different hues) will be quite something to see.
Never said I expected anything more out of basilisk venom, at it’s current cooldown especially, I’m just saying that it’s synergy with lyssa puts it at the level of usability. it is in no way broken considering where conditions are at the moment.
You can say that, but the people with top-down view and charged with the health of the game clearly don’t agree .
Like I said earlier, its almost exactly the change I asked for, and the reason I asked for it was after coming to the Thief board looking to refine some theorycraft it became a common refrain than no other set of runes would see play as long as Lyssa was available. I have no doubt the devs did a quick data-base sift of Level 80 competitive Burglars and found an overwhelming number of them rocking Lyssa. That’s a sign there’s a problem that NO AMOUNT of pleading from a player that uses them will dispel.
You are missing the Champion Bandit (usually a direct run form the troll, though you can port to Vale for a quick head start or catch up). The Wasp can usually be checked for while the boar pre-event is running.
Your path from the waypoint to spider is also really slow – you can run straight at the spider and just run up the hillside.
I have also formally dubbed the waiting area for the Champion Boar “Baconwatch Hill”. Spread the word!
Diplomacy is also a weapon.
Most recently (like today), I tested this. I had the fern hound do its F2 first, and its heal ticked for 177 a second. I had both healing traits traited so the regen also lasted for 15 seconds.
I waited 6 seconds and used guard (with nature’s voice, this way I only see regen values)(yes, I checked, and made sure that the Rejuvenation trait was on cooldown so I was directly controlling the sources of regen). With my healing power, I should have seen about 350 hp a second from regen as soon as guard activated.
Instead of my higher regen value taking priority, I continued to see the regen from the pet take priority for another few seconds, then the regen from guard started ticking its value.
Honestly, it never occurred to me that it would be anything but FIFO. There is no way the server would be expending cycles sorting biggest to smallest. When a new source of regen hits it’s just appended to the end of the stack. I’d even bet good money that it has a (hidden) max stack size of 5 just like Burning.
Ranger Axe #1 is a fabulous tapping weapon for multi-target zerg events . In my experience nothing else comes close (on a ranger) for how many drops you get.
I have to smile at how closely they followed my suggestion for Lyssa Runes in the progression CDI . Converting 5 conditions was even more slick that remove 5 at random & grant 5 at random, but its still nice to see signs they are reading our posts.
We’ll know better the next time they put an unlimited pick up for sale.
I think it’s not a coincidence that they haven’t offered one of any sort for a while now.
My interpretation is they know they blew it, and now they have to wait a long, long time for all recollection of the mistake to fade before they can sell those again.
I think that whatever it is… It’ll be out on Tuesday. And I have plenty of other stuff to do over the weekend.
That’ll I can agree with. If we ever get access to some hard data, we’ll be in a much better place to say the least.
Please explain to me what your process would be for proving your theories if you had the data.
I would maybe sample how much TP activity an account has over the last 30 days before it goes dark for 30 days or more. Build a table sorting maybe 10,000 ‘dark’ accounts and see if there are any trends or clumps in level of final month market activity.
It could show if active TP participants are abruptly quitting, or it there is a period of disuse and possibly frustration with the TP before they quit the game entirely.

A problem we’ve been told to assume actually exists: the intended FIFO system can be circumvented without cost. There is a cost (1c) but we’ve been told to treat that as negligible.
The question them becomes “what cost is both non-negligible and will not damage the market?” We’ve ben allowed to use algorithmic answers, in no small part because fixed or flatly formulaic values have already proven unsatisfactory.
Something as simple as providing a rough clock that tells you the average number of ‘for sale’ offers processed per 6 hours with the average taken from the last 24 would do amazing things to the whole undercutting logic. If you knew 15,000 had sold in the last 360 minutes, would you even bother undercutting? What if 3 sold in the last 6 hours? Is jumping that line worth shaving a copper? What if you really need to keep your capital flowing? If it’s sold less than 1 in 6 hours, would you lower your price more or less? In this case more information may make your choices harder, and I think that leads to better gameplay.
In 4 days it won’t be validly useable. I thought I’d make the suggestion while they might be able to keep ahead of the backlash.
The stack in my bank wasn’t ‘removed’.
Simple suggestion – when you finally add the Living Story vendor to clean out our old stuff, let us swap trait reset items for black Lion keys. Even 2-to-1 key it would give us a way to ‘reroll’ an item that had little use and now has none.
Why should equivilent effort result in equivilent results? Why should different money making strategies results be equal?
I agree… which led to me smiling a lot when people flipped the hell out that they couldn’t just buy Ascended gear when it first came out .
I find this topic interesting. Mainly because I’ve been playing WoW for several years and only got into GW2 a week ago because of the 50% off offer.
Welcome aboard.
I encourage you to get into either sPvP or WvW.
PvP is designed to be beaten, and for the most part beaten easily by packs of entirely self-reliant lone wolves. In the other two mode you get much more dangerous opponents. In sPvP you have an environment build around a 50/50 chance for victory and enemies that hit HARD. In WvW you can find yourself in grossly uneven encounters where resilience or healing can dramatically shift the outcome.
Hope you find your niche – it’s a fun game (just a little simplistic in the default mode).
Volume based is still interesting, but the ability to “shift” your asking price downwards without de-listing/re-list the item has potential.
It would cause a lot of 5% fees to not exit the system, but it could drive things towards equilibrium much faster in some markets.
Basically we let the ‘early posters’ and ‘undercutters’ beat each other to death for the buyers’ amusement. I’m so ok with that .
Funny, because I’m pretty sure the art department person who normally spends their time making armor is DOING THEIR JOB by… making armor.
Hopefully we’ll see it soon. There’s no question we’ll see it as a player asset eventually.
Why should I be forced to lose money, when theoretically both 800 and 799.99.99 price ranges would sell?
Because John Smith asked us to explore systems where 1c is a negligible cost for skipping ahead in the FIFO que?
Its sort of the ground rules for the current discussion .
