Depends on the dungeon really. If you need single target melee dps, go D/D. If you need single target ranged dps, go P/P or combinations of shadowstep that can remove you from the enemy area quickly incase you fall low hp. If you want full AoE use SB and spam Cluster bomb. There are a good amount of dungeon builds but your weapon selection will vary from dungeon to dungeon.

You must have a 3rd eye, because apparently you can see the enemies behind you while you are trying to take out enemies. I have 2v1 ppl b4, I have survived a 3v1 situation b4, but as soon as a warrior gets involved out of nowhere with bulls charge at the right time + the combo, it isn’t avoidable unless you rely on pure luck. No, it’s not doing something wrong its warriors are too good at what they do, which is why it disgusts me to see thief nerf posts when this garbage is running around free. Wvw is competely differnet and I build different for it, but spvp and tpvp is smaller scale and warriors are just kitten strong in it.
You tell me how to counter a dual mace + hammer warrior and I will beleive something is possible here. They got access to way too much, and it isn’t balanced. Not saying Warriors are the only unbalanced professions in spvp/tpvp but they are amoung a growing disease of kittens that need exterminating.

Thief plays great. The only problem is the active on Signet of Malice and the uselessness of traps but everything else works very well and if creative enough, leads to some very useful builds in pve and pvp. It sickens me when I hear/see people crying thieves are OP…

Try again. Hundred blades + frenzy, you got either half a second to stun break or if your stun break is on cd well game over. Yeah, that skill. When without frenzy it is quite obvious, with bull’s charge + that and frenzy it is obnoxiously OP and overused.

The Revive and Dodge daily tasks are tedious and cause you to prioritize filling your achievement requirements rather than good technique.
With my ranger I finally decided to just keep my pet on passive so mobs would actually target me. Later during an event I focused on reviving the dead NPC’s instead of killing the invading monsters hoping I could get to 10 revives before the event completed.
No one is required to complete a daily, its just a bonus. Don’t like reviving people, well thats just unsporty of you.
We get boring repetitive dailies, people are upset…

I just don’t think anything above trash mobs would be suitable for “knockoff to death”. It takes away the intended challenge of fighting that enemy, and makes content that much easier. Think of how easy it would be if everyone could just lead a hard boss towards a ledge and just shoot them off. No challenge, no acheivment, no loot, just an open door. That takes away, and leads to nothing fun or inviting. As many ways people can point out shooting a boss off a cliff would be fun, it would never happen. Trash mobs maybe, since they serve no purpose but to be killed in seconds anyways.

I repect the initiative to think this out but the idea of Legendary exclusive skill sets would never happen. All skills are supposed to be availible to all, legendaries simply are a time consuming thing and not all people have that kind of time or even care to get a legendary. By that logic, not all would have access to these skills and balanced or not, well they really can’t be balanced they’d be different. Bottom line, exclusive abilities are not possible in this game, skins and titles are but not abilities.

we level too slow, we level too fast. No one is happy! But, we are all inclinded to our opinions. Personally, I think the leveling rate is fine as is, but if anyone who played FFXI, they had level caps. You had to do some task or fight a ridiculous enemy to be allowed to continue leveling and that was bottom line awesome. The rate at which we level I think is fine, but we have no limits really to reaching 80 and I beleive thats the key issue.

Agree, The dodge one is next to imposable to do for some classes such as “ranged” combat. i would also probly add that the monthyls need to be fixed as well while 7 fractals only a few it takes hours to find a group to even do the soding things.
Change dalies back or at lest make them somewhat Less Crappy. Dodge and Rivies are NOT things that should be on a Daly.
For those having trouble with the Dodger daily, find an archer based enemy such as son of svanir or seperatists or anything using a bow/rifle and watch it to dodge. It really goes by fast. As for reviving, npc’s count to, so go to a centuar based zone or orr zone and find some dead npcs and get em up. They arn’t that hard, and it beats the repetitive dailies we used to have.
Just like wp costs, it will be annoying at first for some but it won’t take long to get over it.

On average, there are 30 dailies a month to complete, missing 10 of them doesnt harm you in any way. It is an MMO, expect to spend a little time in it.

I can’t really understand why arenanet doesn’t want to add mounts. It would make the game more attracive and easy. I don’t ask for mounts inWvW, of course, but during exploring Tyria it would be really helpful.
Is your search bar broken currently? If so, I would send a ticket to the Anet team to see how to fix that issue. If it is not, should try using it, and reply to the other million or so threads about this.

When I see a title about something I’ve either already seen or don’t care about it, I generally don’t read it.
On Topic: I see no need for mounts. Run speeds are good, speed skills are good, getting around isn’t a problem.
Mounts would just clutter up screen real estate that’s already cluttered and, worse, help induce lag on people with lower-powered systems while their computer tries to render everything else plus everybody else’s My Little Pony.
I’d hate to see mounts ever enter this game.

ArenaNet announced weeks ahead of time that with the new guesting feature, you should immediatly look for a home server BEFORE the change to prevent this. Now if they are in europe and American servers, thats not Anet’s fault, that is between you and your friends not communicating to stay on the same region when playing this game. Sorry but I like the new guesting system, it still lets you play with others but prevents the loyalty dissapointment we get from WvW (people joining the winning team because they’d rather not help their own server win).

Seeing as how some topics (mounts, raids, laurels/dailys, etc) seem to be constanty re opened (laurels arn’t too bad, BUt I give it a week or so before they start becoming excessive) there should be some sort of redirecting system added to this forum. When typing the title, any key word associated with a common topic (mounts, furry riders, horses, etc) will automatically redirect you to the forum, and the search bar will have that key word put in already.
Apparently everyone who reposts these things seems to have a problem with the search bar so I guess the next best thing is to hold their hand through that process. Some of these topics get constructive feedback, but then they don’t all get collective enough and the thoughts are kinda broken apart in various threads. Some threads are down right obnoxious and need to be condensed without sitting there and shutting them down or merging them.

I specifically completed my monthly after reading that Colin Johanson post, safe in the knowledge that I wouldn’t get screwed by doing so.

Yes, I do actually. How are you guys going to approach areas of dungeons people normally skip? Adding a wall to prevent that seems silly, there should be a reason to want to kill everything. Fractals prevent this very well but the other dungeons have many instances where people just run past simple because the time invested to kill those enemies doesn’t pay off (and because they take forever).

So a Thief using his only means of defence that still leaves him vulnerable to any attack (he’s still there, he’s just not visible and has nothing in the way of invulnerability) is unacceptable, but any other profession using skills that make them completely untouchable and unstoppable (ACTUAL invulnerability) while finishing is perfectly fine?

My point exactly. Take ele or warrior who can pop stability during a finisher, or a warrior + stability + quickness. Stealth sure, it is slightly cheap to finish someone with it (although I still do it if I’m surrounded by enemies and (s)he’s down) but just about everyone has obnoxious moves to finish someone off. But, for once this wasn’t a “Nerf thief Dmg” post and for that, I thank you.

You didn’t just pull it out of your pocket one day and say “here it is!, now I can teleport!” Reall wish they bought back capturing of some skills if they do add new ones. Title says it all, but there is more than just saying it to be done asap. Now note, I said some, not all racial elites. Some Racial elites are actually quite useful and I see them used regularly. But a large number of them are incredible unsatisfying even if its on purpose. For example, Avatar of Melandru, Power Suit, Artilery Barrage, Druid Spirit, Hounds of Balthazar( only 1 problem with them, cd is fine), Bear and raven form.
These elite skills I never see or feel like it can be used anywhere other than to eat up a trash mob with it for giggles. Simply buffing elites however feels lazy, and takes away from progression which being that these elites are weak in various ways, small bonuses from perhaps a questline, wouldn’t make them suddenly THAT important (unless the values they grant suddenly become too strong).
It would take time, nothing over night or month, not to mention currently many more important things are being worked on but still, here it goes.
Mini Racial quest line related to your character selection options. What I mean by being related, is the: Animal spirit you represent (Norn), College you studied in (asuran), day cycle you were born on(sylvari), Warband (charr), and Human god you worship (I think this was one of their options for humans). For simplicity sake, I will just say X to summarize this.
The quest line will focus on strengthening the bond between you and X, by:
-hunting down various Champion enemies in your homeland region
-participating in a specific event chain from start to finish
-collecting a chest which will drop an account bound trophy item related to that quest that you must turn in to a certain npc.
-Additionally, some instances (again would take time) in various regions that either require you hunting down an enemy of your race, locating a lost ally of your race, finding supplies or interogating(could be made into a mini game just like the OoW quest, where you must out drink the pirates), or preventing a large scale attack on a town/village.
Over time at various points in this quest line progress, an upgrade towards one of the racial elites will be applied. Things like(number values would vary depending on elite):
-Lower cooldown (20-40 seconds depending on elite)
-Longer duration (5-15 seconds depending on elite)(shapeshift skills, such as norn elites, Melandru, charrzooka(maybe more shots instead of duration))
-Higher health(golems, hounds, Spirits(sylvari), mistfire, warband)(10-25% depending on elite)
-Stability on use (3-5 seconds depending on start of elite)(skills such as power suit, norn elites, Charrzooka)
-Longer range (100-200 units depending on elite)(Take root turrets, Artilery barrage, Grenth,)
Suggested elites for the bonuses are only a suggestion. Some may not need those bonuses and therefore do not need to be taken into consideration

vets are quite easy to kill, but I completely agree with champions. In fact numerous posts about making these champions, whether it be in an event or roaming around as their own even, should be more worthwhile. Whether it be part of weekly wanted posters, progress towards a cool title, or simply just decent loot.

There’s a ton of cliffs in this game.. and bridges.. and holes to fall through. With that, a lot of bosses, and mini bosses. It’s a lot of ground to cover to fix what isn’t broken really. Plus I’m not sure of any encounter where you want to shoot a boss off a cliff rather than kill/loot their corpse.
Dungeons maybe, but then you are just skipping content and that hurts more than it helps.

Jefferey said it all. Make better AI, how would you like to approach making an Ai that can forsee knockbacks and avoid them? What if multiple people with knockbacks were fighting the enemy? It is too easy to exploit and not reasonable to “make better”.
Have you played a game where you can knock enemies off cliffs/edges for an instakill? Enemies react accordingly when in proximity of an edge, eg become more evasive/guard to prevent getting kb’ed off a cliff, though I’d think most living creatures would fight fiercer when their backed into a (metaphysical) corner.
This isn’t here or there as the AI in this game (and most MMO’s) is terrible with enemies only able to use the same patterns over and over again rather than use an interrupt when a player is charging a big attack or an evasive/block when about to be struck, really fighting anything in this game(and most MMO’s) is like fighting a 6 yo smashing the keyboard and blowing everything as soon as it’s off cool down.
tl;dr it’s completely reasonable to program better AI but also expensive (and I couldn’t justify this to shareholders) and seeing as this is an MMO it’s not required to have AI that does more than a few simple patterns.
Still, if multiple players have a KB/launch skill what the enemy is supposed to infinitly dodge or cast stability out of thin air. I played MMO’s where you can be knocked off, but never one where they can. Why? it just isn’t challenging anymore if you can 1shot a boss because your party has all KB skills equipped. Sure maybe trash mobs should be able to be launched just for sheer satisfaction but bosses/veterans/champins/legendaries/etc should not be able to fall off cliffs.

I see PvE players QQ all the time that they should get to play how they want to play and as such should not have to WvW to do 4 map completions. Look at it the other way, as a WvW player I have to take the time to do 32 PvE maps I have no use for. Eight time more maps then PvE’ers and nary a QQ from us.
Monthlies arn’t a requirement… idk what the big deal is really. You either want it or you don’t but the rewards arn’t game changing nor do they offer anything a daily cannot.

My thoughts are, cond builds (players) are already lacking in soo many ways (stack limit/ durations). Enemies have player skills, so nerfing the enemies will nerf the players. No condition in PVE is unavoidable, you just have to not link multiple enemies and save dodge for important times. In orr, some things are a bit outrageous but thats because of the enemy count and respawn rate of them. So ofcourse running by 5-10 risen will get you upset (I know I do).

They havn’t released Ascended armor yet, so can’t really disagree with something that isn’t there yet. Rings, earrings, back pieces, and amulets are all bound to 1 upgrade component, jewels. The way they made these ascended versions is great, maybe a few more stat varieties but they are still great since runes don’t factor into them so no loss in stats/bonuses.
Now they have rares starting at like ~40’s, Exotics starting at ~60’s, but they didn’t have anything for 80. Now they do so we can truly feel like we reached end game. I doubt they will go any further than ascended..

I agree with OP, however no one is required to do a monthly. Nothing you get from it can’t be retreived elsewhere such as dailies and events.
Just like legendaries, they arn’t required yet you need to do things in WvW and 100% all the Boarderlands with eternal battlegrouds to get the full recipe.

Ice elementals, and a lot of them. They all crowd up at 1 small point right at the entrance of the homestead and spam their skills at it doing nothing. Dead npc always near them (probably due to ice elementals) and as I said, a lot. Probably 12-15 ice elementals stuck to that spot.

Thats another problem, you can get good rewards and still fail an event. Hardly feels like a world event when you get a runner up trophy and tons of loot for failing it. (Failing an event rewards half the karma/coin/experience of the medal you get).
I remember, and still occasionally do, grenth event being the place to “purposly fail”. Now, ArenaNet changed it so when grenth fails it takes awhile to start up again (or it was a bug, idk) but before I ran in with a zerg, failed it, went outside, went back in, failed again, rinse repeat. Got tons of rares, tier 6 mats and other loot. Events need many changes and ArenaNet have said they are working on them (yipee!)but the medals from the events need to be fixed as well.
Not sure if the medal you get affects world event chests such as temples or dragons, but if they don’t currently they definitly should in the future if they decide to adjust rewards towards your event medal.

The signet that makes your pet grow larger deal more damage and gain stability, that should be fixed. Pet sizes are fine but when I wana see my bear grow and eat someone, 10 seconds simply does not cut it. It has a 2 minute cooldown, they should almost make this into an elite skill but regardless it should last like 20-30 seconds.. even take out the stability if you must.
Hoe did you go from pets being larger to you feeling that a skill ( which has nothing to do with this thread ) not working the way you feel?

While your at it I want my shouts to heal for a lot as well. Even with my super duper cleric set, my warriors ability to shout my allies from 0-100% is lacking in some areas.
Hate to burst your bubble OP, but I think he was joking. Guardian’s can self heal already beyond comparison. And full healing power is quite effective, you shouldn’t see 1-50% health from a group heal. The lack of a full support stat build is a problem and some professions are fairly weak even with healing power but guardian? No, they are already able to heal from 10-95% health in one swing, block, reflect, launch, make a wall, heal some more, block again…. If they up Guardian group heals they must make their healing slot skills much less effective towards themselves to compensate and I highly doubt the walls of white steel want their healing skills nerfed.

I’m not worried about breaking the lore, ArenaNet is. They shouldn’t break it still. PVP is all about glory or w/e those npc’s shout in LA about (talking about the mists in general). Open world pvp, which I assume you’re talking about like running around in ORR or something and claiming a territory, wouldn’t really attract anyone. It then just becomes who has the bigger guild and can stay up 24/7 and we already have that… in WvW. But with multiple guilds…

Your speaking numbers, I’m talking about rewards reflecting your participation. If you want to wait till the last 40% of an event to start doing something that’s your trouble, and would probably reward you silver at best. Is it fair that some people who start at the pre-event get consistent kitten litter over the few who pop in for a few minutes and get golden scratching posts? I think not. Lady RNG should be more friendly to those who actually participate and do the things for the event rather than logging onto an alt that was logged out in the event area and shooting a few skills off.

But all jokes aside, the lore doesn’t support this idea. The races of tyria are supposed to be bonding to take down the dragons not fighting. Currently they don’t support you joining the Inquest, Seperatists, Son’s of Svanir, Flame legion, Nightmare court, etc so it just wouldnt work.

You’re asking to stretch what is alreadt broken in some people’s minds. Spvp is unbalanced, and it is beign worked on… no body’s fault. Asking to allow more options mean’s people will look for that build that becomes ridiculous and then more posts about “nerfing X” erupt and nothing is acomplished. X build should not entirely counter Y build, it should still require skill and thats the problem. Full hammer/ mace/mace warriior should not be able to stun lock someone for X seconds till they die, nor should necromancer be able to survive beyond belief, nor should thief be able to stealth infinite times, nor should mesmer be able to make unlimited clones… ther is already soo many problems with pvp atm adding additionaly optiions is too much atm. Maybe in the far future but atm, pvp needs work at its core before they expand.
Nothing in this game is OP. there are a few things that need trimming but other than that its fine. By adding more customization it will not make it chaos because it is not chaos in wvw pvp(were most people are unbalanced in items, exotic vs rare). Instead it will simply make the game whole and fixed as it was supposed to be in the beginning.
I don’t understand your logic. You want a balanced match by fighting someone who “may” have the same gear quality as you? And yes, some builds are OP, not professions but builds for those professions. Take a stealth thief for example. I main thief and I can truthfully say them taking advantage of the low stealth cooldown is a bit obnoxious. Same for mesmers who spec in full clones…. will the real mesmer please stand up? Don’t even get me started on warriors… There are touch ups to be done, you can’t expect to ever, EVER see pve stats in a pvp encounter outside of wvw.
PVP is made the way it is so the gear factor is compeltely thrown out of the park and all that’s left is skill and team cooperation. I don’t get why you think there would be a fair match up with some people who can get awesome stats and others who can’t due to family/job/life.

How would you feel if someone who spent more time than you on a game dueled you 1v1 in pvp and won, simple because their gear had higher stats? Would you feel inclined to go back to pve and upgrade more or would you ask yourself,“pvp isn’t really skill based anymore is it?”. FPS have the same problem which is why I stopped playing them, it is hardly about skill anymore in them (most, not all). ArenaNet took the step forward and removed the problem of one being higher stats than another, and it is much much easier to balance (not saying it is perfectly balanced atm). Start adding things like player X has 500 precision and player Y has the same build but only 400 precision, suddenly you just made things that much more complicated and unfair for player Y. No one should be forced out of pvp simple due to armor, and they don’t. Nothing needs fixing aside from some profession skills/traits in pvp (exclude pve because we shouldn’t see nerfs when it hurts no one).

Inspection isn’t only centered on MF. It is also gear quality which many people han’t gradutaed from rare or even master for that matter. Adding inspeciton means these casual players who could care a kitten about being boss status, have to spend extra time in their character just to be “Acceptable”. It isn’t fair in game where skill exceeds stats.
Face it, this game is supposed to attract all kinds of players, so you can’t say " well just play more and you’ll get there" because for some that isn’t possible. exotic crappy looking armor may be out of reach for some so no one can be left out. Now if they release a truly challenging end-game content like perhaps “raids” or hard as kitten dungeons then those people would have to be excluded but again, those rewards would be purely cosmetic based and have nothing to do with progression in PVE. Since they’d be cosmetic only, sure make having good gear almost necessary but skill and coordination should still be the road to success.

You’re asking to stretch what is alreadt broken in some people’s minds. Spvp is unbalanced, and it is beign worked on… no body’s fault. Asking to allow more options mean’s people will look for that build that becomes ridiculous and then more posts about “nerfing X” erupt and nothing is acomplished. X build should not entirely counter Y build, it should still require skill and thats the problem. Full hammer/ mace/mace warriior should not be able to stun lock someone for X seconds till they die, nor should necromancer be able to survive beyond belief, nor should thief be able to stealth infinite times, nor should mesmer be able to make unlimited clones… ther is already soo many problems with pvp atm adding additionaly optiions is too much atm. Maybe in the far future but atm, pvp needs work at its core before they expand.

Gear can be extremely diverse. You can’t expect balance between," 100 toughness and 900 power" versus, " 500 vitality and 500 cond damage". Adding multiple factors makes it very difficult to adjust things wihtout hurting a certain build. Spvp is fine, it doesn’t stretch any build to the limit and it certainly doesn’ allow ridiculous builds to be made. I run a cond thief build in spvp and I still can acomplish 12/0, that shows that no one is constricted to one build in pvp. You are free to fully spec in one field and come out on top based on skill.
I ran a hammer/dual axe warrior once in pvp just to experiment with the Op of warrior (YES warrior is OP, but so are almost every other profession so stop crying) and found out how much of a problem I can become. I have little to no knowledge of warrior in pvp and I lived for soo much longer than I should have. I got 4 kills, like 6 deaths and yet we won. Why? because I lived and distracted the enemy for soo long. It wasnt’ a landslide victory, we hardly won.
the fact is, you can play like an idiot with some professions and still come out on top. Now thats with how little diversity there already is so imagine more variations of this… It just leads to problems they can’t manage anymore without shutting down pvp and reworking it from the ground up.

The problem, Kamick, is that there are still constant shouts for high level fractal groups. Randoms, are still able to do high level fractals and it just shows how a small difference isn’t that hard to get around in fractals. They are working on “guild” events that will be more inviting to larger groups but they havn’t announced anything along the lines of large scale dungeons which is what a lot of guilds are eager to see. We need more than just an event that scales off a dungeon level, we need something thats hard to begin with and you feel like you accomplished something each time you did it. Fotm definitly helps people with that “challenge” aspect but it simply isn’t enough. The team is more than capable of working on such a thing but it’s best they spend months on this rather than a couple weeks before they realease such a dungeon.

Well, uknorntherner, it just takes time then. People will slowly start to understand this new concept (not so new) and will be more accepting to “newbies”. I never, have ever, asked for people to link their gear simply because I adapted to Guild Wars. I understood “skill>gear” from a long time ago and for once a game offers that. You don’t need some “cheap” profession or some OP profession to complete X dungeon. We all got our roles we can spec in and it isn’t restrictive in any way. Can’t ask for any more….

Twin Barrel Shout[Rifle]: Doube barrel shotgun with a dragon insignia around it’s top and made of cast iron metal.

/////When sheathed= steam smokes out of it occasially (fits more engineer professions sinc they have no real “shotgun” based rifle thats legendary.
