Well I know Hotw butcher in explore mode has 3 different statues each giving him a different buff (1 of which is regeneration) but yeah, he doesn’t attack you for attacking his statues. Just chases one person down at a time while you wiggle his hp down so it would be nice to transfer aggro easier for things like that to give the players more of a challenge so to speak.

These are just boss mechanics I’ve seen in other games.
-Petrify= all players in front of the boss facing the boss are turned to stone (petrified) for X seconds.
-Abosrb-return dmg= by this I mean, they will have an animation showing they are absorbing all dmg, and once it is done absorbing it will direct all the damage taken to who ever has aggro. Since many builds go off cond dmg it could be only Direct dmg absorbed otherwise this would end up one shotting even the best of tanks.
-(dunno how to describe but) ally targeted Aoe= Anyone near that ally gets hit by an aoe of some kind. Moderate dmg but unable to dodge and hits any nearby ally for same dmg.(does not chain across allies, only near the original target)
-plague= poison that spreads to nearby allies if you come close enough to one another. Does alot of dmg [over time]. Can be dodged but lasts a long time if hit or “infected”.
-Mimik or copy= steals targeted players elite and uses it if successful (if you dodge they get nothing) If no elite is on the target nothing is stolen.
Sorry if any of these are already present, only posted what I havn’t seen yet but some may already be out there (like plague, idk) Post your own boss mechanics! See too many people claim bosses are too easy so I’m interested to see what people can come up with.

Spear would be nice, as would crossbow. Fist weapon wouldn’t fit into any of the current professions but would be interesting if added to a newer profession. Spell book was in GW1 i think so not sure what made them remove it. +1 to atleast 90% of that list.

Bascially suggesting a checkbox you can fill in to auto-pickup when you talk to the trader post npc. Just quicker and sometimes all we go to them for is to pick up. Besides, its not like you cant transfer over other character’s bought gear but with that in mind, maybe an option to only “auto pick-up” items bought on that character so my smurf isn’t picking up any lvl 80 gear by accident when I talk to trader post npc.

The whole, you cant do a dungeon or quest because you NEED a designated healer was aweful. Not many people liked being the dull healer in back just tossing hp onto the idiots who can’t avoid a spell or spinning attack or w/e. The old system had its time but GW2 did much better job by giving everyone the ability to play any role in varying qualities. Thief can aoe heal, ranger can aoe heal and far range revive, guardian has multiple heals. If you need more heals maybe you forgot there is a dodge button?

At lower levels, you arn’t supposed to see 2-3g easily. Wait till you reach 70-80 areas, and do dungeons regularly, and you will see 2g is nothing. Just be wise with your gold and always, keep 1g reserved in your bank incase you run out and need wp money or food money.

I just finished Arah Story today… BIGGEST DISAPOINTMENT SO FAR. I don’t have many with this game, its great and entertaining overall but this is an Elder Dragon, not some shiny right hand lad, and his fight was easier than just the minions. I’m sure it isn’t working as intended but for future Elder Dragons, I hope they are much more complex and rewardin than this.

+more weapons (although I know AreaNet already lookin into this while keeping balance) i.e xbow, Glaive or something of the sort, katana, etc as well as seperate skins for armor and weapons so we don’t spend 20g for the “looks” disregarding the stats entirely.
+WvW seige salvaging with the ability to use other worlds’ left over equipment. This adds some more strategy to placing seige equipment and also lets you keep moving with seige items but only get like 5 or so supplies for salvaging seige equipment. Not to mention I would like to use the enemy Ram to get back into my fort not destroy it and yell," NEED SUPPLIES YOU FOOLS, BUILD DA RAM".
+larger parties depending on the zone like in GW1. Some zones had only 4, but the harder or bigger zones allowed 8 which was an excellent system b4. PLEASE BRING BACK.
-huge gold sink from wp costs as well as no cost to teleport to wp when you die.( only close by wp so you can’t die in Rata Sum for example and teleport to Blazeridge steppes for free)
-rapid spawnrate in orr. Nuff said.

+1 for sure. As long as you can’t place for example, 2 superior sigils of blood to stack to 60% chance of lifesteal on crit. 2 DIFFERENT sigil slots for 2h weapons would be fair.

Xbow for thiefs! shurikens dont seem much of a weapon choice really when thieves got a throwing blade skill already. However they need some slow longer range weapon set for events like wvw and some world event bosses (flame elemental from Metricia province.) Don’t see the point in a “sniper rifle” when they already have a rifle. IF anything, you’re lookin into diff weapon skills for that rifle to switch up play style which AreaNet hasn’t really talked much about. (Or i havn’t found it) but either way, we need some extra skills without making any imbalance between the professions noticable or larger.

I have laid out perfectly valid reasons why mounts should be in the game. Second, Anet have said no FLYING mounts. Third all those people saying no to mounts have no argument at all, they are obviously biased and selfish and think the game should be made for them only.
Um.. Is asking for mounts not trying to make the game for you only? Mounts don’t have a place when we have waypoints. Only arguement, only one we need. If you think it takes away the scenic view and you “miss” too much just by teleporting around, then walk. No one said you have to use wp, its just a quick method to getting around. Just need lower prices so its not such a heartbreaking gold sink but overall, it’s a fine system that too many people use for their arguement on mounts, which would definitly help you skip content and just crowd up many places with unwanted furries.
Areanet, please shut this drawn out topic down or post somewhere saying you aren’t considering this so they stop begging…

Just in general, I don’t like that my ranger HAS to have a pet. It was an option in GW1 and now a necessity in GW2. Just being pet bound upsets me about this profession as well as him popping up whenever I take falling dmg, go into water, or get attacked.

You can’t get mad for getting damaged armor when dieing, since dieing is avoidable unless your in pvp or wvw. The only sink they should change is free teleport (close by to not abuse this) when dead, and lower overall wp costs but still keep them. mentioned a million and a half times by now, 100% complete a zone, discount traveling to WP in that zone.

Thieves shouldn’t even get bows. Be happy with your little knives and lurk elsewhere.
First off, all professions have some form of range. Our shortbow is more utility and scary Aoe effects but low dmg to sum it up. I dont think we need range of a ranger necessarily but we do need a further range weapon set. Preferably, just fix shortbow thief skills (mainly our basic attack of doom aggro pull) and increase the range slightly or as a long ago post had, add Xbow and give thieves that as their “single target long range but slow attacks” weapon. ofc xbow can fit into other professions but for thief, nuff said.

Going stealth, regardless of the profession, should remove all auto locking and channeling spells. There is already a timer in place that doesnt let you go stealth right after it wore off from another spell, and it lasts a mere 3-4 seconds. Stealth is too weak in this game and seriously needs some looking into. Going stealth should “break their line of sight” as in anything they were using will only target where you were last seen not keep following you and/or channel lunge attack you. The worst is Ranger rapid fire that can auto lock you the entire time while your stealthed…
Huge problem in wvw when trying to escape or just get around, they still target you which for 3-4 seconds, basically would be better off not using stealth.
Its a broken mechanic that received too little attention apparently and is near impossible to utilize for how little it offers even with full stealth traits. Please fix stealthing AreaNet.

mounts are needed, they can be sold in the cash shop and add lategame rewards wich is the main problem in the game atm, there isnt any argument against mounts.
The arguement is that we have waypoints, and many professions have speed buffs to match what you would want from a mount. Other than for looks, you have no arguement for mounts. WP costs yes are a bit costly but that can be addressed without mounts. Areanet said no, and there are more than enough wp to get around. I think the people who want mounts just wana run across zones quicker instead of walk to the wp thats 1-2min away.

If you buff their damage, you simply overkill. right now their damage to a un-protected player (via the buff) while unweakened is roughly over 50% of our hp or so from my experience. if they hit ANY harder, we’d be looking at the kind of damage they do NOW to us unprotected and the enemy unweakened (which is still only 50% chance of a diminished attack) which is either a one shot down state, or 90% or so of our hp if unblocked. if this game becomes NOTHING but blocking and chaining block skills, then we’d all just have to stack 4guardians and maybe a thief etc for weakens.
I really, really don’t think buffing the already meleekittendamage levels of boss auto attacks and poorly telegraphed instagib skills is going to increase “challenge” any more than adding another 200k to their bloated health pools.If you find them “easy” you’re clearly a ranged centric class user. and used to the kite-wars mentality already. That’s great, But sadly others would like to at some point “swing a sword” without being turned to mush instantly
I play thief so no, not a ranged centric. Their damage is hard for some, weak for others and if you read, i said OR make their mechanics more challenging but I forgot to say “and more responsive”. Some things are delayed atm where you can press dodge at what feels like the right time and still get pulled in or smashed. 80% is just too much of a loss but I’m sure it was just a statement of how long a fight can last against something thats doing nothing in return which, I agree with.

I cannot speak for necros but running condition/precision builds on both my ranger and warrior, I’ll have to agree to the suggestion that bleeds should be per-person and your UI should reflect only the bleeds you are applying.
If monster difficulty/HP needs to be tuned (boosted) to keep fights a fun challenge, then so be it—at least everyone running condition dmg builds will be putting in their part.
This makes alot more sense. You can’t just buff cond dmg builds in large events, you gata address who’s receiving the dmg to balance it out. Atm, yes cond builds have hard time participating in large scale and champion fights with the limit but for how many people who participate in these events, you would see only condition builds at that point since they could all stack up and melt the enemy away. Maybe give each player their own stacks or remove limit altogether but if that happens, definetly raise the enemy hp and/or defences.

Add 1-3 seconds longer on each stealth or to make use of initiatie, for every point of initiative you gain 1 second longer stealth. Pve this is entirely fair since most just spam skills to kill, therefore adding this new bonus makes you more cautious of your resource. In pvp, reduce this bonus to half a second per intiative or even less. As for other stealth professions idk how they can be buffed but, ABSOLUTLY NO TO PERMANENT STEALTH. We are masters of “escape” not some ghost on the field you gata be worried about. Stealth needs a small tweak is all and it should cancel out channeling spells.

I think OP is just asking for more skill selections. Something everyone knows deep down we need, but most of us leave it alone because AreaNet has to work out the “Balance” issue with this b4 just dropping a bunch of new toys on us to see how it pans out. Not only new weapon selections but skills from utility to few more elites all have to be within that profession without making them annoyingly OP. One thing I’d like more variety of is our auto attack, some bosses heal based on conditions making almost every basic attack a problem. Not to mention thief shortbow basic attack is a nightmare to use!

I agree with apostle, the reason it is the way it is atm is so no class is overlooked when forming parties. Each has their own way of healing, cc, and dmg etc etc. Your a party but you gata maintain yourself pretty well unlike some games where you just send the tank and warrior in to swing like idiots while the healer spams his healing spell to win fights. Making cc immune bosses is perfect to keep ppl on their toes and sitting up straight.

For those who played FFXI, I’m sure you remember Al Zahbi “Beseiged” was a fun event that always had participation since the rewards were great and overall was quite a challenge. NOT TO SAY TAKE THIS IDEA AS YOUR OWN AREANET, but something like a important city such as Ebonhawke since its large and part of a pve zone would be fun. This event would:
- occur at set or random times the brand or seperatists or any hostile group in the fields of ruins would plan a unique seige against the city.
-large invasion since its a large city.
-only every few hours or the city will just be too much of a burden to protect.
-offer large incentive of rewards for being a very long duration as well as good drops like other large scale events.
-If the city falls, the next rotation of this event will have a large scale retake event with many npc’s but whether defending or retaking, it requires good amount of player participation.
There are many big events yes, but they are either too easy or not worth the rewards. When I enter pve, its too quiet especially with constant dragons and behemoth events going MIA. Nothing like a major city seige to spice things up a bit as well as provide world-event hungry dogs a bone to chew on

Yeah your wrong on soo many levels. If for some reason they DID add mounts, people WOULD be forced to use them or be slow turtles getting smacked on their travels. We have wp that need fixing and if your friends seriously don’t play a game entirely because there isn’t mounts.. I fear what the next generation will complain about. I wouldn’t suggest making already easy mobs easier. TO turn this around and make dungeons how they are meant to be (Hard), should buff their damage or make their mechanics harder to deal with than just spamming 1-5 in statue form while they take it all. AC exp has some great challenging mobs and I can’t wait to see the rest but they should all be challenging in some unique way.

I think waypoint (and repair) costs are fine, every MMO needs gold sinks to keep the eco healthy.
Name an MMORPG that had to shut down because people had too much money.
ummm… If i had to guess Diablo 3 will shut down for a while or seriosuly update… Their economy is just soooo broken. We don’t NEED to eliminate wp costs altogether, just make completing the zone give significant discounts for that zone, therefore giving us the incentive to wana 100% each zone rather than just a title.
Pro tip: Mists and WvW is a free pass to LA therefore every other city if you just sit through a few loading screens

I play thief and knowing how well they benefit from stealth, i wouldn’t say FULL stealth would be unfair. However with that in mind, I would like a general increase in the stealth time. Nothing too big where you are a ghost forever but like instead of 3 seconds make it like 6. We are supposed to keep ppl on their toes and be masters of escaping but 3 seconds simply doesn’t cut it. Not to mention in a 1v1 situation, if someone sees the other guy go stealth they can easily run back a little bit and if the thief is too far, they simple just get visible and no progress was made. I think overall stealth should be doubled for all skills except shadow refugee. I dont know if its intentional(prolly is) but if you leave the cirlce you become unstealthed kinda making you a sitting duck for AoE builds. To fix this you could make it you retain stealth from shadow refugee if you stay in it for the time its healing you.

I agree with whoever said increase dungeon difficulty instead of weakening drops. Its better doing dungeons knowing the reason its so hard is because you get pimp rewards from it not spamming the dungeon because you get jack sh** from it.
Just a side note, there are tons and tons of undiscovered pieces of armor and recipes making the game all that much better. If we spent about a month and found everything already what would be the point?

Material bag that only holds, you guessed it, materials. No weapons, armour, rings, trophies, salvage items, nothing but materials. But with this in mind, it can hold up to (perhaps 20/40/60) various materials that way your other bags are for the other items that don’t add up as quick. I’d prefer a recipe but if it must be a gem store item I’ll still get it.

Many profesions get temp bonuses for swapping weapons. It’d be completly unfair if you can spam these bonuses, hence the cd on weapon swap.

not sure if this fits the subforum but I noticed alot of water but nothing to do in them. Just wondering if the future updates will make these into explorable regions? Not ALL of the ocean because full underwater zones can only go so far b4 just being boring but underwater caverns, maybe pirate ships around. idk if the lore would allow it but maybe a Kraken? Could use more large scale bosses.

Rangers are more about the wild than using new age weapons such as rifles. I imagine AreaNet won’t add them just because it won’t fit their style and they are using animals, not mechanical Golems or robots so theres no room for advancing their playstyle beyond bows and axes.(torches, warhorns, greatswords, daggers… they have enough)

Well not snowfall in queensdale, lol. The weather would be for zones thats appropriate for them. So shiverpeaks would see snow queensdale more tornados and rain. Possibly lightning but like I said, hard to add something that just zaps players all around without being annoying.

Not only day/night cycles but also weather effects can bring maps more “life”.
-Such as blizzards and sandstorms(more for crystal desert) that limit visibility making you wana take your time. During blizzards more ice elemenetals appear in random locations of the storm and same for sandstorms.
-In large fields such as maybe queensdale, a tornado storm can randomly appear thats slow moving but ofc you want to avoid not getting smacked by it.
-lightning would be hard to implement since randomly striking lightning can really hurt afk’ers and just overall annoy ppl.
-With day/nite, there could be fog in the morning around water which ofc limits visibability for a short time and unique mob appearances for night time for events or just hunting. The darkness shouldn’t be too extreme or ppl will just adjust the brightness on the screen and itll be more of a burden so just something thats dark enough is fine.
-Volcanos and deserts can have heat waves that make visibility sometimes blurry and mirages with destroyers around random places.
-More rain :/ some zones always rain others never see it. Chance for some water based enemy to appear randomly or just for the effect.
Basically adding weather and day cycles adds a whole new gameplay of the same zones which will make the game last that much longer. Forget about the people who wana rush this game through its an mmo not some 1 player rpg.

Since many buy items that costs several gold or w/e just for the skin even if they stats are amazing, I think its only fair for a recipe to be introduced that just has the skin of the various pieces and some fresh-out-of-the-box skins like various hoods for thief and various back “skins” just to have the look. Gives people a cheaper item that they’ve been looking for.

Listen to this one AreaNet.FFxi had day cycles and at night time, new monsters would appear like bats skeletons, nightmares, etc. It adds new looks and gives you many options to add new features associated with “night time”. Also blizzards with the right graphic settings made it nearly impossible to see making you wana take your time to avoid aggro.

You as the player should know what kinda zone your entering and plan ahead. If something is constantly spawning around your lvling ground, then pull it away or kill faster

These runes would add new effects to your weapon skills such as:
-exploding Ice behind Warrior whirlwind attack skill
-necromancer minions explode after dieing if enemy is X units away from the necro or some other conditions.
-decrease channel time of rapid fire( keeping amount of arrows the same).
-Dancing dagger can steal life per enemy hit or heartseeker can kd if hit from X distance (Basically full leap)Cannot repeat for another X seconds.
-Mighty blow(hammer on Guardian) can have a chance to kb.
-Jump shot can daze foes where you land.
-Illusionary wave can fear instead of kb since either way they run away from you but I think depending on the duration, fear sends you further back.
Theres endless combinations that can make “new skills” without just tossing new ones into the batch and getting out of hand.

I was actually thinking about this…
Crossbow for thieves would be great, though i don’t know what role you can play as a crossbow thief.
Thieves have fairly short range. Thats not to say make them like ranger’s or engineer but for events like WvWvW, they suck unless they can utilize shadowstep well. Xbow would be slower but longer range and high peak dmg which is something Id like to have in wvwvw. could have for example:
1- Basic attack
2- trick shot – KD
3- explosive bolt – high arc with medium explosion radius
4- Powder shot – shoot bolt and detonate in mid air to create smoke cloud for X seconds. If not detonated, explodes at end of travel with smoke cloud.
5- Take Aim – Long range shot with cond effect. (Channel time X seconds.)
