Yeah because the turret build has an extremely low skillcap. All your fighting is a dead boy and a stupid AI. The turret engi has very limited options once the turrets are down. Effectively a offhead chicken, and people do not GET how TERRIBLY useless that is.

So useless that nearly every game has a turret eng, some even having 2.

The spec brings the entire game down as a whole and needs to not be a thing because it’s boring to play and play against.

I see a turret engi in 1/10 games, probably less.

I will repeat, L2P. Improve your MMR.

Many players in this community would do far better playing a turret engineer than the build they are currently playing. Many turreteers that I have spoken with have win ratios above 60%, which is ridiculous again considering the only skill involved in the build is landing your ccs.

You are neglecting to mention that once you learn to play the “other” build then you outscale, outplay a Turret Engi completely.

Fine the build is relatively easy to play and you may be able to beat players with a bit more skill than you, but that only goes so far.

All that needs to happen is that YOU need to improve YOUR MMR so that you can stop having problems with Turret Engi’s or stop playing with people who facecheck the turrets.

Tip so long: Start by not attacking the turrets, you are wasting your time.

Most of your statements make it obvious that you have zero clue on how higher levels of soloQ sPvP work, nor do you have any idea on how to take on a turret engi.

It ALWAYS comes back to the SAME thing with these topics, if you struggling vs turret engi, you have a L2P issue, nothing more.

You make it seem as if it will require some heterogeneous and intricate coding to bypass one of the loading screens.

In essence it currently loads you into lobby first, after you get loaded into that map it makes an attempt to load you back into your match.

What SHOULD happen is that it loads you back into your match upon relogging and bypass the attempt to load you into the lobby.

There is no pooling of limited resources into anything. If they like, I could help them with the code.

Changing ANYTHING, no matter how small takes a lot of hours of cost. Changing the code is not even half the work…

EDIT : I just don’t see why they should prioritize this over a lot of other more pressing issues.

You can scream nerf Celestial all you want but Celestial isn’t doing anything other than making Eles more viable.
It’s passable for Engies imo, and near useless for other classes.

Even without Cele though, Eles would still kick your butt. Cele just helps them have all the things they lack. (because they bring sexy back)

At the moment Engi’s benefit more than Ele’s do. The might nerfs hit Ele’s a bit harder.

The ele community would be more than happy to remove the insta dmg in favour of abilities on scepter able to deal with stealthed enemies like PB attacks as the main reason why scepter is not viable is because of stealth ( which takes away the “High” away from Risk when facing other zerk builds)

The problem is not the sustain as every good ele or player who knows how ele works would say ( lack of sustain on scepter is something an unexperienced players would say), there is a lack of good sustain dmg ( for which again you can reduce burst capabilities if you like) and no way to deal with stealthed enemies like on dagger.

Point is. Fresh Air is a lot harder to face than D/D when done well.

I am not saying either is broken.

I do agree that the cursor needs updating. Its just not viable enough during the chaos. Doesn’t bother me too much as you grow used to it, but its a valid point.

Scepter is bad because most of it is instant (lookin at you fresh air), however scepter puts out that damage at the risk of little to no sustain. High risk, High Reward. D/d ele is little risk amazingly high reward.

No counter play means its broken. At least D/D allows you to fight the ele, instead of getting blasted to oblivion.

I find that Elementalist is actually in a decent spot now that Drake’s Breath is a bit weaker and lightning whip is a bit cleaner. I also find that overall Engineer, while a bit OP, is pretty close to where it should be.

  1. For Ele, What specific skills do you feel are OP?
  2. For Engineer, What specific skills do you feel are OP?

1) Burning speed: it is an evade, fire field, does high dmg and burns. Has a low cd.
2) Ring of fire: the cooldown is too low
3) Shocking aura: too low cd for a cc that is so easy to land. Maybe change from stun to daze or increase the cd to 30-35
4) Magnetic grasp: any reason for this to be unblockable?
5)Fire grab: reduce the dmg when enemy is burning and increase the normal base dmg. Could also reduce the cooldown but reduce the dmg.
6) Lightning whip dmg could be reduced a little bit.

Odd how all of these are just D/D related and Scepter is actually a lot worse… Anyway…

On Friday I lowered the inflated MMR parties receive from +5% per member to +2% per member. I believe the initial value of +5% was too high, and we were aiming to overshoot due to the bad perception of solo vs pre-made. The drop to 2% was based on data from the beta ladder.

Could that may be what you noticed this weekend?

Please say yes. Always been a problem for them getting into PvP, don’t want to alone, but the system in place matches us to people a bit to high.

If you aren’t good at spiking people down and you are struggling vs Cele builds, then using Doom vs them is the only way. Try it. You seem to be a little stuck in the meta builds.

Don’t waste your skills, try to combo off of your reliable CCs like Overcharged shot/Magnet/Crate.

Keep poison up on your enemy.

Don’t waste your heal skill and pick up the turret when you don’t need the blast finisher for extra 1K heal. Also learn as fast as possible when and what condi’s are good to remove.

Grenade 5 can not be blocked, use it on guards and other blocking enemies when you can.

Chains :
1. Elixer S toolbelt > Magnet > Prybar > Overcharge shot/net > Grenade 4 > 2 > 5 > 3.

2. Overcharge shot > Net > Grenade 4 > 2 > 5 > 3.

I don’t think there is “WvW design.” The devs design for PvP and for PvE open world. However that affects WvW gameplay is however that affects WvW gameplay.

As for stability nerf, it’s going to be bad. Looking at past history, we can extrapolate that:

  1. It will be balanced for PvP, and so unbalanced for WvW — particularly bigger vs smaller fights.
  2. Even if they attempt to balance for WvW (by splitting the behavior of stability in PvP and WvW), they will fail on the first try and it will be 6 months until the next balance patch.
  3. And in that next patch, they will try to fix the problem by nerfing other skills — CCs — for example, instead of directly addressing the problem…. creating even more problems.

PvP stability is only used for safer stomps and rezzes in the short term. It would require a massive change for it to affect PvP stability balancing.

Yes though you forget the fact that it removes Immobilize, cripple and chill when used, and that high risk of using Overcharged Shot, because you can’t net shot them and then do OCS. Warriors kind of need stability, stances, and some sort of sustain because they’re melee class and most of their damage requires you to be in range of your target, melee combat?

I didn’t forget, nor am I saying that Warriors shouldn’t have those skills. I am proving a point. The one I made at the end of my previous post…
Are you saying that Engi should NOT have those same sustains?
Why should an Engi be defenseless in comparison to warrior? That is what you SEEM to be saying…
I am not hating on Warrior, just using it as an example.

Do not compare SKILLS to SKILLS without considering the WHOLE.

Example :
The shields of the Engi replaces ALL other classes damage mitigation skill AND CC immunity like Blur, Endure Pain, Stability, Magnetic Shield, ETC.

@Erukk: Randall’s comment seems to be retconned given the Scroll/Tome of the Five True Gods. Chances are that they knew of Zhaitan but didn’t know they were pulling energies from Zhaitan, nor knew where Zhaitan (and the other Elder Dragons) slumbered. (If they did know, wouldn’t they have thought to kill and replace at least one of them with Glint while they slept?).

Why are you so sure they cared about the Elder Dragons?
Only Abaddon showed indirect interest. So indirect that its an assumption.

TBH theres more,

- Overcharged shot; 3s CC on a very short cooldown,
- Magnet; the fact it functions at a 1500 range is bullkitten, even 1200 pull on a short cd is still too powerful,
- Gear Shield; CD can be reduced to 20 seconds, that’s rediculous, should be 30s like warriors get.
- Thumper Turret; way too much HP considering it also can launch twice every 30s,
- Invigorating speed, yep this is for sure rediculous, they can perma vigor quite easily.

Overcharged shot is a self CC. Keep that in mind. If you miss it, you dead… High risk, high reward.
Warriors have excessive amount of other damage mitigation AND stability, engineers have none of those except for shields. So they are not comparable, no QQ for dual Endure pain? No QQ for Berserker Stance? No QQ for like 4 stability skills? Nope…
Thumper sucks.
Perma vigor… You never played Engi before, have you?

Anyway, point is, stop comparing classes overlapping skills without considering the whole.

Being able to remember and change your build in less than 20 sec before being blocked in an inconsistent state because the timer ends in pvp or a group member engages a fight in a dungeon shouldn’t be a required skill in this game.

Yip, happens to me OFTEN. I change my build up A LOT depending on map.

Now imagine when Stronghold drops into the same queue. Wonderful…

Getting my 2 participations is enough of an aggravation each day that I can’t even look at the game when done. I can’t imagine the level of masochism necessary to get 5 wins.

Get the Chest of Loyalty from the end of the Daily Login, pick Ascended Materials . . . it had a Lesser Vision Crystal in there the two times I opened it.

That is depressing…
