You can just keep doing the Dry Top event to get giant kills, no?

There are a total of 3 events that spawn giants.

The giant in DryTop is THE WORST one.

If you do it THE MOST efficient way possible it would take you MONTHS of 6 hours a day. Before megaserver you could use server guesting to speed it up but those days are gone.

The official statement was that things “happen” in the instance while the cutscene is rolling that require time to “get in place”. Unfortunate but legitimate.

So cele is just meant to be a middle of the road supa adaptive build? Is that its purpose?

Pretty much that, its one of those build with VERY few weaknesses.
So you have more room for error.
However that WORKS in PvP due to the capping requirement, in WvW it isn’t as successful because its LESS tanky and deals LESS damage unless you are in an extended fight(and get a chance to build up might), in which case you are more likely to be swamped by more enemies without a reliable disengage.

This. Any decent player WILL clear burning if he can, if not, he knows he has a problem. So duration matters little, a 20secs CD or even 25 makes sense.

You have 4-5 conditions on you. What ability can cleanse at least 4 so you’re sure to get burning off and has a cooldown of 10 seconds?

Skill. Knowing WHEN to cleanse and when not to. Burning will likely not be one of the buried condi’s.

So DPS spike classes (thief, mesmer, warrior, and some eles)? Hahaha, you seen Static Discharge engi builds? And Warriors arn’t bursty compared to most other classes.

Anyway, you are using PvE as a benchmark and yes while it is zerk “meta”, that isn’t the case in all game modes.

Uhm, not if you don’t have any other exotic armor on that character, but doing it isn’t EFFORT, just takes time and why SHOULDNT you do it?

If you are planning to use it for roaming solo in WvW, then don’t bother, Cele Engi isn’t great for solo roaming.

My idea to nerf both traits:

Make IP a adept trait but reduce the duration from 4s to a 2s burning. Put accelerant-packed turrets as a master.

Making accelerant-packed master again turret engi will lose the knock backs or will have to sacrifice the damage or boons from turrets.

IP going from 4s to 2s would reduce its dmg by 50%. Making meta cele engi and condi engis a bit weaker. Also been an adept trait would give other builds more viability.

Win win situation. Nerf cele/condi 2 kit engi and turret.

Another alternative would be keep IP as master but reduce duration to 2s and make it aoe.

Your IP changes are pretty much HUGE buffs. It would be a case of anet trying to nerf something but they are so incompetent that they actually buff it. Like with the thief initiative changes. It is pretty common they try to nerf stuff and actually buff it actually. As they over-complicate things.

The duration of IP is irrelevent. If you dont cleanse a 3-4s burn you will die anyway. So it wont be any change from the current 6s burn (with condi duration).

The only way to really nerf it would be to increase its icd to something like 30 seconds.

Lol you see much more engis than medi guards. From the cele classes engi was the least affected by might+sigil of battle nerf.

True. It also means that it’s the class which is the most hybrid by nature. You can play cele engi without might, because it is good in itself, which is how it should be. Engineer is also the only one of these three builds that is so weak against conditions.

Very good point.
Compared to all other Cele builds, Engi condition clear is pathetic.

im not comparing it to release, i am comparing it to the months before npe.

but more telling than anything is the holiday season, it should have made more money during the holiday quarter than the quarter just before it, to actually make less is a sign that the users are either decreasing or less willing to spend money, even during the holiday season (which is the buying season in US) keep in mind profits include gem sales, and you see less interest.
Both are signs that users are not as satisfied with the product as they once were.

everything was on sale (including the game itself), in order to make the same amount of profit they should have sold twice as much. Do you really think that there’s that many MMO gamers that never got GW2 in these 2 years and would still love to buy it?

Spend a little time on Reddit GW2. You will see even AFTER the sale there are still A LOT of people joining.

I’m still convinced there must have been a reason why Abaddon wanted magic to remain wild and free. I think he knew about the dragons. Remember the text on the ceiling above his statue? “Beware of ….”. He knew, and somehow he was convinced magic could not be allowed to be concentrated into the bloodstones (maybe because they would it too easy for the dragons to consume?). The other gods on the other hand didn’t believe him, and he was forced to wage war on his own kin.

What else could convince the God of knowledge, the wisest of them all, to wage a war he was sure to lose (1 vs 5)? Surely he knew he wouldn’t stand a chance.

Yes.

I personally think it would be sad for Orr not to change a bit if ever LA will be rebuilt.

But the thing to consider is, what about others who haven’t finished their personal story? Should they see a recovering Orr even though Zhaitan is well alive on their arc?

As mentioned, most PS instances start from Fort Trinity airship since NPE. So most of the time you aren’t running through Orr anymore, its instanced instead.

There are a lot of in the air bugs, this is the least of them.

For example Ranger Elite Entangle will hold you in mid air and you can not cast or attack or do anything. Its a known issue but hey.

So with NPE most of the starting positions of the story missions that take place in Orr start of at the Pact Airship at Fort Trinity.

While I personally do not think this would happen BUT…

Doesn’t it seem like this could be the first stage for cleaning up Orr to fit with current events in the rest of the world?

Flame Turret is open for discussion, i choose it for moare burning and smokefield.
Runes for moare burning and protection.
Im not sure about Cele Ammu, but I like the stat spread.
Toolkit for Pull, Block and Confusion.

Grenade kit + Incendiary power renders flame turret completely pointless.
If you plan to focus condi, then Rabid is the only good choice.
Cele is LESS tanky and LESS condi damage, but it scales well with power and just adds a BIT of extra condi damage for that little bit of after pressure.

They had dx8 in the original campaign and updated to 9 for fractals. They could do the same. The argument of being more accessible for older machines is null since you can usually just switch between the two renders like in WoW. Dx9 is extremely old and it’s a bit ridiculous not to have the option for at least dx10.

To be honest CONVENIENCE and COSMETICS are what makes ANET money.

The only gripe I have is that bag slots are a bit pricey compared to OTHER convenience items.

The issue with turret engies has been visible on this forum for quite some time and every time someone made a thread about it, he was met with those answers. Suddenly, we have like 5 new topics daily about it and it’s a viable spec capable of contesting high tier players. This is what I don’t understand, the sudden change of community’s reaction to it.

I’ve been recently playing this very spec and while it’s easy to play (like most bunkers/bruisers), it is very fun to play (people like to cc others). From your answer I take it you were playing like most do which is to camp one node. I do this a bit differently, preferring to be a bit more roamer with a flame turret instead of a rocket turret (due to lower cooldown). I’m not sure which playstyle is more beneficial to your team but it most likely depends on the enemy skill and coordination level.

Then you are considered a decap engi, NOT a turret bunker Engi, NOT the Engi people are constantly complaining about. And no ITS NOT KITTENED “contesting high tier players”.

Condi’s and full turrets do not go together. Even dual pistols do not apply enough conditions to make a dent in your enemies defenses.

Swap the rifle turret for grenades for better results.
Also trait for more Condi’s, and less traits for turrets.
Also changed your Rune. Rune of Balthazar is ridiculously good on condi engi’s/

Too bad Anet can’t nerf noobs that need to L2P.

Yeah, it’s impossible for anything to be over tuned. I’m growing pretty bitter of this Engineer community. Every single one including top tier has absolutely no perspective of the potency of things they can do. I mean, IP for example. Every engineer is so sure it’s totally fine.

Back when Dhuumfire was nuts the necro community was just as in awe as everyone else and begging for it to be contained. I’ll just leave you guys to your agendas and let you continue your illusions that it’s just your own skill allowing you to play effectively and that it has nothing to do with ability potencies and I’ll play turrets because it’s fun and interesting to me regardless of my feelings that it is a bit too good in ways.

It’s not really worth arguing over, but I’ve not seen a class so dismissive…

IP is one of the only things I feel need a nerf, i have been saying it for a while. Please do not generalize.

For starting out I’d recommend a dual-kit condi build. Either nade/toolkit/x or bomb/toolkit/x, with rabid amulet and pistol/shield, preferably balthazar runes. You can move on to pistol/pistol after getting a hang of the build, then cele rifle later. 6/0/0/6/2, 6/0/0/4/4, or 6/2/0/4/2 generally, though bombs can take 2 out of explosives for a bit more flexability.

Condi doesn’t play anything like cele, but it’s more forgiving and it’ll give you a chance to learn all your skills, what to dodge, what to interrupt, what builds to avoid, etc.

I agree, Dual kit condi will provide a decent challenge with not to much frustration.

Yep and because of that, scaling is not the problem. But lots of other things are! See above!

People will be people. Larger events, Vinewrath included, hardly ever fail.
So no problem.

Have you been lately in silver wastes at around 5-6pm on Sundays? When all the casual gamers are on. On a non-organized server? You can see a lot of failures there.
I have seen like 10-20 ppl lying around not WPing during boss 2 fight in one single try (most of them dead within the first 120 seconds of the fight).
And like 3 vw event fails in a row. Maybe you were lucky with your servers…

Arguing that events hardly fail is btw not solving the issue of the discussion here, it’s more not wanting to accept other arguments.

Stop being bad and you’ll realize that turret engi isn’t that good.

Turret engi is actually a decent choice even for low-top tier.

In NA where you play there’s already a team running 1 if not 2 turret engis.

If people don’t play it it’s mostly due to it being a low morale build, like phd said.

Static Discharge burster
Dual or Tri kit condi. Can be overwhelming with all de buttons.
Meta Celestial Rifle.
Celestial HGH elixer
Decap engi (all about the knockbacks and taking point under there nose with them flopping about).

What I find funny is that bunker guards are a lot harder to kill, yet no complaints? Hmmmm….
