What are your thoughts on mixing Nomads and Zerker for more survivability?
Because I can and making the golds not that hard.
Good morning folks I’m looking to put together a set for open world/casual 5 man run PVE and WvW, naturally I’m looking for Tanky survivability with out completely hitting like a wet noodle either.
I was thinking either All Soldiers with Zerker Hammer and accsessories.
Or all Nomads with Zerker Hammer and accsessories.
I thought you could pay to unlock them.
The release of a new traditional expansion with a new continent, new 5 man content, new Heavy Armor Proffesion, and new playable race.
Would you like mounts on top of that? Oh and maybe capes?
I’m not that greedy.
The release of a new traditional expansion with a new continent, new 5 man content, new Heavy Armor Proffesion, and new playable race.
I no this is speculative but I figure we should keep the hope alive by asking ANet one of the age old forum questions.
When are we getting the announcement for the GW2 expansion?
Outfits are starting to grow on me, that being said you should increase your variety multiplied by 100, and enable us with the ability to dye outfits.
Please remove the RNG from Weapon Skins and just add them to the store with a set price.
Please introduce weapon particle effects that we could buy separately and apply to weapons like dyes to armor.
The point of parties is to have some place to go to get drunk with out spending a fortune at the bar while having a convenient couch to pass out on.
To make it harder for you to tell that I never use Zerker gear, that’s why there’s no DPS Meter.
Well I generally speak with my wallet so with that being said each time a new zone was added to the game this living story I bought the lowest among of gems possible to show some support for the amount of content provided; prior to that I paid for the box and that was more or less it.
If some one put this kick starter together specifically for funding for a traditional GW2 expansion I would sooner put my money there than blindly spend $50 in the gem store like a roulette table; remember if the goal is not met then you should get the money back so if ANet told us to stuff it we would get the money back and have sent a strong message as to what we want for content.
That being said I am fine with Living Story if over the course of 2 years we get as much content as a WoW/Rift/EQ2 expansion.
They left it on the table evidently.
Why would people pay money for a kickstarter instead of just buying gems? A game developer such as ArenaNet already has a huge ‘kickstarter’ on their back. NCsoft provides it and they have investors that are already putting money into the company so they can earn more money from it. Obviously investors are in it for profit and fans are in it for the game, but as I said, just buy gems instead.
On another note, if you want to help the developers you could send ArenaNet a postcard with your thanks or a cake.. I am sure that they would appreciate such a gesture. It’s also morale that can help a company perform better. Throwing more money at something isn’t always the solution.
I would support this because I’m not too confident that our gem store money is going to ANet and not some other random NCSoft pipe dream like Wild Star; I would donate money to a kick starter if there was clear language in it that stated that it could only be used on a boxed expansion and could not be touched by NCSoft under any circumstances.
There is no Meta, Ante dissolved their dungeon team awhile ago so future dungeons are off the table. Basically use what ever armor you want personally I prefer Soldiers armor with Flame Legion Runes, with Zerker Wep/Trinks, I use Obals Hammer build.
Well not all events show up on the map, some do when wps are disputed, world bosses show up, that’s about it unless your close by.
What I’m suggesting is when you hit map every single event is clearly shown on not just the map you’re in but all maps if you zoom toward another map in map mode.
How about instead of spoon collections we get better map functionality.
It gets to be pretty annoying that I have to either ask in map chat. Or play JP hopping just to find events that should have always been shown on the map from day one. For example Rift always had this functionality, WoW allows Add On developers the option to make Ui improvements like this.
Thank you I look forward to seeing this in the next feature pack (but I have a sneaking suspicion we will get funny hat collections instead )
As I’ve said before ANet clearly buried the Meta when they dissolved their 5man team clearly stating that Meta type content is no longer on the table. All new PVE content seems to be focused on open world encounters that feature the newer mechanic regime introduced in S2 which favors execution over speed. From what I understand most open worlders scoff at zerkers because they spend most of their time laying on the ground pointing there hands at champions.
If it means content development closer to WoWs but with 2 week patches instead of the long content droughts so be it; perhaps something more like Vanilla Rift.
How about we make it less like wow and rift.
I think he means as far as development effort and direction, not actually literally turn GW2 into WoW but the QoL features that it has. Imagine if Anet did their spin with the core game that they have.
Let’s jot down some examples of a guildwars 2 equivalent of what it could have with the development effort of blizzard.
- Imagine if your personal story instance was actually an empty plot of land that you could customize and build to your liking, turning it into a war base with your own followers. As you progress through the game, dungeons, personal story, achievement through living world, new features and different types of npcs can unlock that provide their own additional benefits like a farm plot, npcs that mine, crafters that slowly craft the materials you need to make gear while you go and do an explorable dungeon or work on your achievements in the living world.
- Imagine if said explorable dungeons have varying levels of adjusted difficulty for different skill groups, with higher difficulty, cosmetic prestige that showcase your triumphs through harder levels of difficulty representative of each dungeon
- Imagine that we got new sPvE explorable dungeon content
These are some really extreme arbitrary examples but you see where this can go. I believe the hope and dream is that if there was a method of stable and higher levels of income, the finances would allow for said dreams to come true.
Personal opinion, highly unlikely even if it were the case.
EDIT: also I got another couple
Imagine if armor transmutation and changing your hair wasn’t locked behind the gemstore but rather normal NPC services available in towns for small bits of cash.
Some one gets it, or imagine some of the more ambitious things Rift did when rolling out content prior to storm legion with world wide events, then leaving the permanent content that it led up to with random spawning events for people to still get the flavor every once in awhile of the World Wide event that heralded the permanent content.
Kind of like a mix between season one and season 2

I’m curious guys how many of you actually participate in SPVP, I don’t see the appeal simply because there’s a serious lack of maps; you would think that if ANet truly wanted to make SPVP more interesting to potential participants and spectators they would offer more map/objective variety.
I’m under the impression that most of the players GW2 has are interested in PVE and WVW; perhaps ANet might be more interested in investing resources where player interests lay. While I would prefer more PVE content I strongly suggest you create new WVW maps with different unique objectives, perhaps add a world boss element, or tiered events like Dry Top in addition to the PVP aspect.
i confess i created the characters Furor and Prolapse so i could make fun of people that do not know what furor means, and think prolapse has something to do with your hind end. I then felt bad for being an kitten , but the names had grown on me and i am now stuck forever with both of those names in every MMO i play.
on that same note, i have created a character named Capprion in every game i have ever played..and other than in AO and EQ have not played any of those characters more than 5 minutes….do i win the “i am strange” contest?
Actually you can have more than a prolapsed rectum, for example you can have a prolapsed uterus.
I some times join zerker only groups wearing Soldiers gear, most of the time they never notice.
There is no more Meta, ANet dissolved the dungeon team so that form of content is a dead end.
The new Meta is open world events with LS, WvW, and their ESports pipe dream.
With that being said you can play this now trivial content how ever you like since it’s no longer on the table.
Feel free to start your own casual runs, why wait on one.
Those writers that you mentioned are probably in charge of the advertising/hype dept to fire us up for the ‘very big things’ such as the spoon collection, and Doritos commander tags
Hell even proper expansions can get burned through pretty quickly, taking my time I leveled my DK to 100/played through Nagrand up to the Green Jesuz death match with Non neck Hellscream, at least these small episodes provide enough open world content to keep you occupied longer.
Purchase a crate of Nomads gear thinking that I was getting a set of 6 pieces only to get the recipes which I had to relist at a loss.
Be that as it may you’re not paying for it unless you forget to log in, then if your talking 2.5 seasons that’s still only 20$ which is reasonable in price for 2.5 seasons.
As much as I would like to see a traditional expansion you have to keep in mind that ANet could likely handle 2.5 living seasons per year; if one season follows the current trend of 2 zones with a new set of gear/weps per zone then over the course of 2 years you would see 5 zones with a 5 new sets of gear to work toward which sounds like an expansion to me.
Sounds like a very small expansion to me. The 3 zones (southsun, dry top, silver wastes) so far have been very small in comparison to the zones included in the game. Also no new dungeons, no new classes, no new races, no new permanent dungeons for ages, no new weapon choice, only new healing skills noone uses, some useless new grandmaster traits).
I wouldnt have paid more than 20 USD / 15€ for this kind of expansion.
Skritt
You could make Skritt work lore wise by having all playable Skritt groups of 3 or four with the armor spread out by all of them and having one Skritt each handle one of the single hand weps or have 2 carry a 2 hand Wep; I say a swarm of Skritt because they only technically get smart when they’re in a swarm.
I kind of dig seeing all those spell effects, makes those zergs seem more epic with all those spells firing off.

I just read an article recently that you guys limited the Gem <> Gold conversion options; that seems rather counter intuitive towards people that might be interested in using the Gem store.
Hey guys at ANet I want to start out by complimenting you on a well made product; you may not have added as much as some of us would like but it is what it is.
With that being said I’m wondering why you don’t have such a wide selection in your Gem store; if you had more armor skins I would be more inclined to pull out my credit card to buy gems if there was more variety.
Now I’m going to mention another game not as a form of criticism but as an example of things could be approached differently. If you go to Rifts cash shop you have dozens of different armor skins that you can mix and match; now you guys do make up for this some what with your dye variety which Rift leaves a lot to be desired.
All that I’m saying is that if you guys want me to spend money in your shop then stock it, no one goes to a store with no variety.
PS they’re also coming out with a second type of something you might want to start developing, I would spend money on your version of this even though Rifts giving it away for free; again not a criticism just an example of a company that does things differently that might help inspire you to try new things such as expansions.
Thank you again for releasing such a well polished game.
If I remember correctly I thought that ANet was considering making it possible for guilds to make their own overflows thus creating a work around for instanced raiding.
I also seem to remember a Wooden Potatoes video where he speculated that a new PVP map might have a PVE boss in the center of the map so perhaps you might see an evolution of WVW as well into Raid content.
If you could tie it in to WvW some how, to build upon the Alliance/Guild server idea you’re coming up with all the better.
I’ll drink to that toast!
Too bad it’s not an armor set.
As some one that plays a male Norn most of these weapons look bad for my aesthetic taste; the only skin I really showed interest in back in the day was the Phoenix Hammer since it actually looked like a Hammer as opposed to a staff.
Well season 2 is permanent content with improved story telling, I’m pretty sure that was brought up last time.
Gem Store purchases with free Dlc content patches; the only problem is they have not released a new gem armor set in months, outfits are one piece so they lack customization, weapons are locked behind a gambling wall, and everything else is basically happy meal novelty toys.
I see the point then regarding the weapons, but I would still like some more armor selections to spend money on; otherwise these novelty items like minis and gathering tools don’t give me any desire to pull out my credit card.
I’ve never run into this problem on my server Henge of Denravi, we have a happy medium where we draw the event out as long as possible for champs but we always complete the event.
I’m rather partial to Zerg content. Most of my game time is spent in Cursed Shore, FSG, Dry Top, and the World Boss tour. The open world Zerg makes me feel like I’m almost raiding except with out the commitment to organized runs, or the toxicity of WoWs looking for Raid.
If you want me to buy gems then try releasing some new armor sets; I have no intention of ever buying one piece outfits. Might I also suggest that you offer weapons that are not tied to a lottery system; I spend my money on solid purchases not risks.
Sincerely,
The guy with money.
Good afternoon fellow Guildheads since this whole CDI thing is coming out I wanted to put out some food for thought regarding content updates that might be within the budget of ANet since I doubt we’re ever going to see a more traditional expansion (that’s not a criticism just an observation.
I my self personally enjoy Open World event chains such as-
-Cursed Shore with the sprinkled in Champs.
-FSG with Coil (when it is run as intended to completion) again with it’s entourage of Champs.
-Dry Top with it’s unique Tier event design.
ANet, perhaps you could beef up the other zones as well, for example take Skrittsburg and beef it up to a Temple type feel; or some of these other areas that do not have World Bosses but could still have more epic event chains.
With that being said to avoid event fail farms there are a few things that you could do to help ensure players actually finish event chains like Coil.
-Put timers on these events to prevent endless Champ Spawns.
-Beef up the rewards for finishing them by offering a handful of Champ Bags, and Craft Bags upon completion.
If my grammar sucks I apologize I literally just woke up, and am in the process of drinking my coffee.
P.S. I forgot this is the forums, I have to say something negative apparently so let me give this a shot . . .
Fight the power, and stop ANet’s evil shadow government conspiracies; they have aliens on ice and we know it!

I finally switched to your Hammer Build and I have to say I’m impressed, my virtues seems to be refreshing quicker, my utilities refresh quicker, seems as though I can even spam my blast finisher all the time; plus it feels like I’ve got more survivability with your build than with the AH build I was putzing around with.
The only thing I changed was the trait that increased Great Sword damage to the number 3 trait that increased Protection since I use Hammer exclusively.
PS off to farm some more to save up for my Mjolnir ( the real Hammer legendary).
I want to tank my groups from lvl 1 to Endgame.
I agree with the sentiment of the op, I have owned this game for over a year and have not spent a single cent in the cash shop; IMO if Anet actually wanted to earn any of my money in the cash shop they might want to offer the same level of cosmetic variety that Rift provides (I’ve actually spent close to 100$ in their cash shop between my account and my wife’s account).
