Pretty sure I never asked for it.
Solution is way more simpler than what was proposed above. Simply remove the time-gates and add tier loot based upon the time the raid takes down the boss.
Simple. Elegant. I like it.
Doesn’t work because there’s no value to the “limit” placed unless you get absolutely nothing after a certain time and if that’s the case then you’re back at square one. So either the lazy gain rewards or the elite overprofit. This model hasn’t worked well in other games either.
Having a baseline reward for completing the raid at all, and improving rewards for improved time could work.
There is nothing, “lazy,” about less, “elite,” players spending hours grinding their way through content that other players can complete in a fraction of the time.
It is also not, “overprofit,” for a skilled team to earn greater rewards for performing better at the raid.
No. Because what you’re looking at is the integrity of the system from an honest vantage point. Players aren’t honest though, take the “elite players”, throw in some gold for the run, give the lesser players the ability to get through the thing for “base” rewards, and voila you’ve got an overprofit problem on two ends.
That’s exactly how it works in almost every system where there is someone who can profit off of another person’s ineptitude and that person can profit off of their professionalism. Let’s say that we have a team of 8 players who are OP, they know their stuff, and they can easily earn mid-level rewards by themselves and then you have the two who pay to get in to get the mid-level reward and then you’ve got the raid itself.
The elites get mid-level rewards + gold (or whatever the currency they want) and the “less than useful” get more rewards than the honest casual team because of the set-up. I can guarantee that’ll be the outcome.
I hope ANet reads this and releases a lower difficulty map, hell make an open world zerg map that functions the same way as the current open world metas with the same open world rewards; if Trion can figure it out with their even more limited resources ANet has no excuse.
Let’s stay on topic here.
It’s all good, I’ve been saving up for something that the title means “great in number.”
Funny his last video he said he was done moving.
Assuming the season drops this month, likely on or after the 11th when the current pvp season ends, they are cutting it pretty close.
They have got to do something, they should fee fortunate that there are some people that are frustrated enough to make noise on their forums, most people just pack up, leave, and take their Gem Store money with them.
I’m sure it comes as no surprise to you ANet that your lack of new consistent Open World content is slowly starving the player base of most of us that play your game because we no longer wanted to raid in other games.
Remember Woodenpotatoes, here’s a link to his Youtube page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtxzg9BoyjI
Notice how your once prolific, as a matter of fact only prolific Bard has fallen silent?
if that doesn’t tell you folks some thing here’s another canary in the coal mine, an opinion piece written at Massively OP.
http://massivelyop.com/2016/06/29/flameseeker-chronicles-re-engaging-lost-guild-wars-2-players/
We get it, we know that the content is probably not in the oven but cooling on the counter so why not be so tone deaf or coy about it?
Sincerely just one of your customers, that doesn’t raid, that didn’t spend any money in the Gem Store this pay check, we’ll see when I get paid again in two weeks.
What’s the problem, nothing personal but I’m sure there are more than 9001 players that use Outfits because I see them every day while running the Meta events in Maguuma including the ones that I use.
I wish we had the ability to take our customized skins and save them to template we can switch to at no cost just like swapping outfits.
I’m kind of hoping they go back to making cosmic themed tools.
They are a bit overdue for an outfit, but they may be saving back for the next big patch, which should be in either two or four weeks.
That explains it, probably pouring cosmetic resources into the LWS3 sets.
So close yet so far.
Are you guys going to release anything worth buying this week, you haven’t had a new Outfit since the April Patch, a set of Weapon Skins you have to gamble in order to obtain, random node packs, a reskinned finisher in the form of a gathering tool.
You’re way over due for an Outfit of the same detail and quality as the Sentinel Outfit (not like the Gwen one which looks more plain than Brienne of Tarth), and a set of BLC Weapon skins that we can obtain the correct way and that goes with the Outfit.
PS Please give the Gliders a rest unless you plan on matching it to the new Outfit.
While I appreciate that ANet has been at the forefront of their game by supporting and representing them in game through DE2.
How ever why is there no recognition of couples that engage in power exchange relationships?
Raids have made me bitter as well, but at least the HoT maps haven’t gotten that stale for me yet since I’ve been working on Alts after getting sick of the overly difficult open world, now since April they are at my skill level.
So I tried this build
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Reaper_-_Offensive_Blood_Support
Got my back side handed to me by an Old Tyria World Boss if you can believe it.
Granted I’m used to running a power build in Valk gear, so I just swapped Spite out for Death Magic, probably putting out crap damage but at least I stopped getting downed. With Blood Minion, Rise, Suffer, Locust for movement, and Flesh Golem. I guess if it anit broken don’t fix it.
I’m beginning to think Vipers is a waste of money, that was roughly 100g I put in a pile and burned.
It’s not a waste, you just have half the gear for it. There are several good condi builds for necro. It’s kinda their thing. Just not with GS.
Problem is I had more heart set on playing the Reaper as it is thematically meant to be played, with a Great Sword; some one really needs to make a Pyramid Head mask for cosmetics.
So I’ll just bank the armor and go back to my power valk, minion master.

Hello folks I’m trying to Frankenstein a build together with my available gear. I plan on doing open world and 5 mans.
This is my Gear.
Ascended Berserker Great Sword
Ascended Berserker Accessories
Exotic Viper Armor
What are your suggestions, I’m hell bent on using a Great Sword; I’m assuming my build will use Blood/Reaper/Death Magic?
I’m not sure where to go with this.
Maybe I’ll just do 5 mans, I’m with a chill patient guild; I have no doubt that some day they will dumb that raid down once it becomes obsolete.
Is there any one selling raid spots, I figure it would give me a chance at ascended drops and give me an opportunity to learn the fight; what’s the going rate?
Seriously?
You should have seen what the cost was at launch, if you picked up all of the skill points in the older maps you would need only a handful of skill points in Verdant Brink, plus they made the new areas way less punishing with most skill points soloable.
Spinal blade back piece as a glider skin?

Go with something unique though, have the blades deploy like a helicopter.
No worries then, I’ll just pop into the gem store once every couple of months when they offer something cosmetic I’m actually interested in. Frankly I don’t want to sit down with an spreadsheet and figure out how many boosters I should buy per month so I just won’t bother spending anything since I can afford to convert gold into Gems.
However it’s appealing to me personally to see a list of benefits that are constantly on to justify the expenditure that requires no thought like a Rift or ESO membership.
Is what it is, sporadic financial output while relying on whales, or having some financial stability by offering a VIP subscription for those people willing to spend money on perks.
If it leads to more revenue then it leads to more resources which leads to faster PVE content.
<mike dropped, stage exited>
If this gets flamed so be it, but for any one familiar and appreciative of the monthly perks you would get from games such as Rift or ESO we see the obvious value, nobodies saying that every one else would lose what ever situation they’re comfortable with what I’m suggesting is that while being a Patron you get certain things on loan or a short cool down that people buy piece meal with short term remote access items; I fail to see how this would hurt any nay sayers.
If you have anything negative to say direct it at the concept, my target audience haw a red icon above their names.
hmmm interesting idea. something like “premium membership” or something.
wherein you get some perks, but not to the fact that people that dont subscribe are at a disadvantage.
Exactly, I don’t know why the first responder got so defensive.
I have a suggestion, I was thinking that you guys could probably get some more revenue if you offered a Patron Membership.
Patron $10 to $15 per month.
Offer perks such as
Remote Bank, BLTP access.
Free Waypoints
Increased gathering rate.
Magic Find Bonus
Some sort of generic not fancy Infinite Gathering tool.
Maybe either a discount or Gem voucher.
I suggest this because you guys don’t always put things in the store I’m interested in buying, I realize that content isn’t free people have to get paid, the more revenue you have the faster we get content updates and the bigger they are.
Just some food for thought, you can still keep offering the daily log in rewards and keep things the same for non Patrons, I just want a consistent way I can show support except through sporadic purchases.
Get rid of Raids, make new maps, make new challenging map metas, make new 5 mans, oh and in case you didnt see it the first time stop wasting resources on raids.
PS Stop making Raids
For your reaper to be used in raids you will need Condi gear either Sinister or the better version Viper’s. Power reaper isn’t used in raids. For support you could level a Druid for heals and getting healing gear is realistically inexpensive
Would the Zerker ascended pieces be ok to mix with the exotic healing gear, and what would you suggest Zealots, Clerics?
I’m partial to the Druid simply because having that Raven Staff would be cool as heck with my Norn.
Hello folks I currently have a lvl 80 Reaper and a lvl 80 Dragon Hunter, I also have enough tomes saved up to either have a lvl 80 Druid or a lvl 80 Scrapper.
The only Ascended gear I have are a Great Sword, a Hammer, two Rings, one Trinket, and a necklace, all Berserker.
My Reaper is using all Valk gear except for the ascended pieces, I’m not sure what’s on my Dragon Hunter, and obviously my other two potential 80’s have nothing.
What is my best option to get my foot through the door, I like the idea of Support, I used to Tank in WoW, of course there’s also DPS?
Look folks, I don’t raid unless I’m doing Raidfinder some where else I can’t mention because of potential editing, the third season content needs to drop soon because that vague thing I mentioned above will be releasing a big pre expansion event for their open world.
To add insult to injury you just released skins I’m moderately interested in that can only be obtained by gambling, I don’t spend money on chance.
Nothing new for me to bother buying Gems for.
I wonder where I might be spending my money this pay period?
I don’t really care either way if they give an easy mode or not. If they did, I doubt I would ever play it. No reason to. What I don’t understand is those against it, I mean if you have no intention of running easy mode then what difference does it make to you if someone else does? Listening to people complaining about something they have no intention of doing sounds childish. imo the bottom line is there are those who don’t want easy mode for a reason, they want to be viewed separately from the casuals.
If the value a person places on themselves is how others perceive them in a make believe world, you’ve got bigger problems than not wanting easy mode.I don’t care whether an easy mode exists or not, but I don’t want one to be added in for two reasons:
1.) Easy mode inherently has no replay value. It exists to be beaten and then ignored, like SAB infantile mode of dungeon story modes. Which wouldn’t be a problem
If easy mode had no replay value why do people keep doing the mapmeta events them hmmm?
Easier raids for casuals?
Easy: Dungeons/Fractals.
Boom, problem solved.
The raids have 5 man versions available in Dungeons/Fractals, that’s interesting because I never read those patch notes, never saw that mentioned in an article.
Why do we need easier raids? Making an easy mode just completely defeats the point of them.
Most of the people that I have spoken to that complain about raids, have a pretty bad attitude towards wanting to even try something new.
Remember when Raids first were released? Remember when 99.999999% of the GW2 population hadn’t set foot in a GW2 Raid before?
Well.. everyone has to start somewhere, it’s just that the people who are doing weekly raids now actually got off their behinds and went straight in for beating the raids.
If you want easier raids, I’d suggest just do dungeons or fractals with a small group of friends. You’d be missing out on 90% of the fun if they were made easier. The whole point of raids is that they are challenging, without that challenge, what’s the point.
How so, it wouldn’t share the same loot table; it would share the same loot table as the 4 open world expansion maps? Explain how this would ruin your precious experience other than opening content for 100% of the player base. You sound like one of those ‘people’ I was talking about that want this content to be exclusive and clique-ish.
I believe easy mode raids are called dungeons and fractals.
Interesting, when did the raid become available in Fractal form, or 5 man form; I didn’t see any patch notes about this, do you have an article to reference?
Something tells me you just typed that out with out thinking.
I thought most people were asking for an easier version, so that you elitists can continue to use your special bathrooms and water fountains, we’ll settle for some thing stripped down and low class as far as the rewards.
We’re talking video games here, not racial segregation.
I’m talking class segregation, the comparison is sound; when ever MMOs start focusing on Raids then they start making these showcase dungeons which creates a sharp division in the community between those that raid and get content, and those that don’t or now can’t because they joined the game of musical chairs too late in the game.
For example back during the first Raid it was acceptable to have Exotic Armor and Ascended Accessories/ Weapon to start; now even if you join a guild Raid Teams are set, they want experience, full ascended, link APs.
Yeah nobody wants to raid with us second class citizens so we get the rusty water fountain, and the busted up bathroom to make all of you look and feel better.
i´m actually starting to get a little angry at people who aks for making everything super easy…like the raid would be even hard!! Sry but for real. i´m an on and off player, less than 5k AP 1500h playtime in total since gw2 launch and oh i have 2 playable characters at 80 wich are not even fully ascended. And still i clear the raid every week. If we re somewhat quick we need like 2 hours for wing 1+2 together and the first boss of wing 3 was pretty easy aswell. we dont raid more than 2x a week 2h a day wich results in 4h raid a week. The raid allready IS! super easy and if you cant make it that way..you actually dont even deserve it. You want even more casual super easy content? there you go. dungeons. there you go fractals are your casual raids aswell. oh wait.. actually almost everything in the game is pure casual and easy to solo, besides raids that need somewhat of a coordination but are far off being hard either and you want the only thing that is somewhat not easy to be easy aswell if the rest of the entire game is allready focused on your needs? Sry but i actually really think this is super
selfish. If everything in the entire game would be super hard, i would even from a different perspective aks for making parts! not EVERYTHING! easier to balance it. People who dont want to do anything and to get better need some areas to autopilot and other people who at least wanna try to step up .. need their areas aswell! You know whats wrong about that? Your own mindset.
You DONT need to achieve or need to be able to get EVERYTHING in a game that is created for different audiences and different kind of players and if you really think that if one of the few things that is somewhat harder should be easier just because you cant make it, you basicly want the game to be a bad experience for every player that is better than you as you totally ignore their needs and only focus on yours.
As i said, i played 1500h over the last 1388 days. thats close to an hour per day and you call that “hardcore” ?
I thought most people were asking for an easier version, so that you elitists can continue to use your special bathrooms and water fountains, we’ll settle for some thing stripped down and low class as far as the rewards.
That’s a relief
Hey Folks,
My wife has not logged in to the game for awhile, she forgot her pass word, she also has an authenticator but she had to reinstall the app, she lost her serial number. She sent a ticket in with her user ID, name of a character, email, credit card info, everything ANet asked for other than the Serial Number.
Is she screwed?
I can also provide a screen shot with us together if that helps. She has a few screen shots of her own on her own computer.
What a mess.
First world problems.
Many non-raiders attitudes on the forums:
A bakery has my favourite cake in stock today. I buy it, eat it and am happy.
The bakery does not have your favourite cake in stock today. They will be in stock tomorrow. You are unhappy.
You tell the baker that they should stop making my favourite cakes and ONLY make your favourite cakes in an attempt to never make it go out of stock again. I disagree with you.
Is it not worse to nullify some people’s enjoyment to ensure that other people don’t have to wait a little while for their enjoyment? I think so, and am disgusted by the people advocating it, I’m glad Anet ignore them and are already working on a new raid.
Well good for you most of us haven’t had any new PVE content since October just to satisfy a minority, if they were smart they would release a Story Mode version since now unless you’re in a set group or with a guild open minded enough to take novices and you have a stable enough schedule to accommodate then you’re SOL and GW2 is no longer your game.
All this to do as my guidlie Vayne put it to make GW2 look Legitimate in the eyes of the general MMO community.
Let me repeat, there needs to be a Storymode Version of the Raid period.
PLS take a look first on the forums if you write something like 1 post below your post I found this
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Raid-lore-for-non-Raiders/first#post6194807
Also about lore in raids.
Now let’s get on topic.
Yes there is a lot of lore in raids if you look at the right places. But all this lore is still there when you go in a cleared instance. There is no lore while defeating the bosses. There are no npc’s between raid bosses. Every npc you can talk to and that maybe change what they say when you cleared the raid is at the start of Spirit vale and everyone can get there. Even if you don’t take any armor/weapons/trinkets/food etc. with you.
Just ask around if someone wants to open a cleared instance for you and Everything lore related should be open for you to explore. There is no need to make a story instance for the raids. Sometimes I see people offering in lfg for opening a cleared instance. I think many players will open an instance for you. As said before I have a friend who made a blog post about lore in raids and she never ever killed one of the bosses. The only thing she did was kindly ask to someone if they could open a cleared instance..
Edit: Everything lore related is what you can find in the surroundings, notes laying on the ground, etc.
Spoiler alert. The story of raids itself is just your party trying to rescue captured people. nothing fancy about it. and you can already now this just by entering the raid instance even when not cleared or without experienced people.
Nothing fancy, other than picking up the story of where the bandits left off and the reemergence of the White Mantle.
I don’t have a stable enough schedule to dedicate my self to a raid team. Most guilds that raid have set teams. PUGs do not want unskilled newbs.
I have a real problem with you putting lore behind an activity that has been known for years to exclusive in the MMO industry as opposed to inclusive.
Hiding lore behind Raids didn’t do Rift any favors.
Oh wait even they learned from that mistake nvm.
You should have a story mode that can accommodate people capable of doing current open world content. I’m not asking for the same quality of drops, just make the drops on par with Maguuma Meta events.
(edited by Oldirtbeard.9834)
Thanks for nothing.
I’ve got a black refractor in my back piece, I tried using the upgrade extractor from the gem store for 250 gems and it won’t let me extract it; am I just SOL?
In pvp its not meta because its pretty easy to focus down and its slow. In wvw roaming id argue its the best build out there.
Power reaper is probably one of the only classes that can take a zerker amulet too which is nice.
I’m actually a PVEer, Open World, 5Man/Fractals; skill level is too low for raiding.
I was wondering if Power reaper is still a thing? I used my 80 boost on a Reaper and I thought common knowledge was to get Valk armor and cap Precision through the build. Instead of Shouts I’m going Minion Master with one shout for Rise. Any build suggestions because apparently Viper is a big thing atm and I have no idea how to get it? Do I need to get a set of gear then with Power Condition Vitality?
Here’s a new Combo
I like the idea, but i think it would risk to decrease the number of players visual in the different maps. This might be the major problem. Maybe just give the WP, nothing else. That way people may still visit the maps.
I like this idea.
The villian of GW3 will be the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.
I’m holding out for the Monster Under the Bed as the next big bad. He terrorized me as a child and I think he’d make an excellent villain for gw3.
Jared Fogel it is, ascended cooking confirmed.
What dye combo is that, the red really sticks out? I’m using Shadow Abyss, and an Enamaled Light Blue but that blue dye does not pop, I was trying to get it to work with my Spectral GS to make a Tyrian version of WoWs Lich King.
Midnight Fire (top left), Midnight Fire (top right), Autumn (bottom left), Sunset (bottom right)
