The theory is that people are less likely to leave if they have to be in the game anyway. Personally I agree with it.

The edit at 10:17 on 11 August 2014 added the Doom sigil as a variant, which was several days before your post. However, only an idiot would bring Doom over Energy. You replace the Paralyzation sigil with it, since that only affects Earthshaker. Knockdowns and Knockbacks aren’t affected by that sigil.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@Quincy Looking at the edit history of the build, it looks like the build was placed in Testing in Revision as of 15:11, 4 August 2014. It was then placed in Trash in Revision as of 18:31, 7 August 2014. That is in no way 10 days. That is three. And in regards to me not defending my build, I was on my way to Florida, where I am now on vacation. In regards to your opinion on all players who eat a killshot, there are two things you’re neglecting. First: you’re moving back and forth between points frequently. Nobody can keep track of every time you come into a fight. There’s a reason why top players eat so many killshots. Second: I’ve proven that it can work on good players, so the fact that you THINK it won’t is irrelevant.
@Enzo Three days is not “quite a while.”

Mistpedia events also do not allow for switching characters mid-match. I’m not quite sure what Morfeus is referring to.

I’d like to ask how builds are decided to be trashed. I posted my killshot build and it was put in the trash section without any voting. Killshot isn’t optimal and I understand that, but I didn’t think the site was for optimal builds only. If it wasn’t at least a “Good” build, so to speak, then I don’t think I’d have gotten top 8 in the first ToL with it.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
>Yeah then there is always the dummy decapping for no reason whatsoever other than to get a higher personal score….
Was more talking about that. You were talking down to people who wanted to keep playing.
@Langer Dishonored stops Arena play for 72 hours after 3 leaves within a 24 hour timeframe.

Even if I’m in a 4v5, I don’t go AFK. I’d rather it take a little longer and have some fun killing people than just sit around and do nothing.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
It’s horizontal progression, and it’s minor, but there is some progression, yes. I don’t think it was a good idea, but, in it’s current state, it’s nothing too terrible.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
It really depends on where you want the build to excel. If you mean at high levels of play, then turret engineer is mediocre. It’s still not bad, but it’s manageable. If you mean in solo queue or medium levels of play, the build easily gets 4-5 stars. People like to say how easy it is to counter, but the build can work quite well. It’s just brainless and passive.

Depends on when you queue, style. It’ll only match you against bads if there’s nobody your skill level to play against.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
This is natural. In team queue one team tends to dominate at any given time, so fewer people hit number 1. On top of that, most of the players out of the top 1000 decayed there. Solo queue has faster decay, so that’s what happened there.

Look at baby Killchain, trying to improve his content. <3

My issue with site so far: I posted Banner Bunker, people edited it into a condition build. They changed mace/shield to longbow, cleric’s to settlers, and decreased health to get longer bleed duration. At that point, it’s not even the same build. They changed a full bunker build to a condition build, and it still has the same votes as before, so people will think it’s decent.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Rank was never intended to be a representation of skill level. It is merely a representation of experience. Hotjoin is experience. The difference in difficulty and skillful play is represented by the decreased rank point reward between hotjoin and arenas.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Nope. Unfortunately, you cannot.
I wish you could at least select admins for your arenas.

Ready Ups are every two weeks now, IIRC.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
A homepoint bunker needs to be able to 1v1 most classes, not die too fast in outnumbered fights, and be able to rotate quickly. They are the first to rotate to defend home when someone is pushing it, so they need to be able to get there fast and win the 1v1. However, if the other team rotates someone into that 1v1, they need to be able to survive until team support arrives.
This is why something like a warrior is strong with this. They dominate many 1v1s and are tanky enough to survive for a period of time 2v1. If you’re running Hambow, the weakest portion of your home defense would be mobility. You’re slow compared to something like a thief.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Japan Thailand Croatia had some good players, but their comp was weak, and their opponents on Megalodonger were stronger players. That’s why I predicted Megalodonger Confirmed to beat them quite easily. In regards to the match of Wooooooooooow versus Sharks With Lazers, I think it depends mostly on what comp Woooooooow decides to run. I’ll add the players rosters to the teams soon, and then you will see what I mean.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I’m fine with them fixing the holes in the maps in WvW and sPvP, since those can be exploited. However, I wish they’d leave the holes elsewhere. They’re fun to mess around with.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
You need a balance between the importance of short queue times and fair matches. That balance is expressed in how fast the net spreads. If the net spreads faster, you will have shorter queue times, but you will also have more unbalanced matches. It’s possible that ArenaNet is already tweaking this fairly frequently without informing us, but I don’t think so. But, yeah, I’ve had matches that are way too unbalanced with the current set up. If they decrease queue times, that will happen more frequently. Then there will be a kittenstorm of threads complaining about their PuG getting matched up against APeX Prime or Outplayed by Children.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
The point of hotjoin is for players to be able to play without the commitment of arenas. You don’t have to stay in the matches. You can play for whatever time you have. Personally, I don’t hotjoin, but I don’t think it should be removed. If you remove hotjoin, you’ll just have people in Solo Arena complaining about the influx of weak players, since there’s nowhere for them to effectively practice.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
There’s no reason for ArenaNet to put resources into something nobody is supposed to see. You got through by a bug. However, there are methods of getting under the map in many maps. If you get under Hoelbrak, everything turns weird colors. If you get under the Black Citadel, you get some really weird graphical glitches with the currents flowing. It’s honestly not something I’d worry about. It’s actually kind of fun to run around and look at.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
If it’s not based on MMR, people will kitten about unbalanced matches. You can increase the rate at which it spreads the net, but that will encounter similar problems.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Sharks With Lazers will have to beat Woooooooooooooow and APeX Prime to qualify for the finals.

Pfft, as if you know how to play warrior, Rar. You haven’t even accepted your Killshot overlords yet.

I added Banner Bunker and Killshot warrior to Trial for warrior tPvP
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
This is WAY more work than any of the possible fixes…
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@Epidemix This depends. We try to seed as many as possible, but when it comes down to it, sometimes we just haven’t seen people play, and they’ve never been in the top 1000 on the leaderboards. At that point, there’s literally nothing we can do except seed randomly. Setting up the brackets this way is the most fair over all, even if it does result in blow outs in the lower rounds.
Something to keep in mind is that this tournament is single elimination. Something like double elimination makes the brackets less important, which would allow us more flexibility in the initial matches. However, since we don’t have time to do double elimination with 32 teams, this really is the best option.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
In an ideal bracket, the top 16 would make it to round 2, the top 8 will make it to round 3, the top 4 will make it to round 4, the top 2 will make it to round 5, and the best team will win. Theoretically you could mess with the brackets to have this happen, but with closer matches. However, it is impossible to seed perfectly. As long as the seeds are close to accurate, this bracket design is the fairest to all teams involved.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
It sounds like Lopez wants to take up shoutcasting! Welcome to the club, and good luck!
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Each region has 128 teams participating. That’s 640 players per region or 1280 total not counting subs. We had more teams than that sign up, so more like 1500 players signed up.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I think the main problem with complexity is it doesn’t leave much room for extremely clutch plays. If you watch LoL, you’ll see someone Flash through an Ashe arrow to win a 1v1 that snowballs into an Inhibitor push. In Guild Wars you’ll see two people whacking at each other and dodging periodically. It’s hard to have clutch moments like in LoL.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
The winning team gets 2000 gems per player. Second place gets 800.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I think it was Five Gauge who said this recently, but if the map has portions of it that can be abused by a complete build change, that’s an issue. For Spirit Watch, it’s high mobility orb runners. For Skyhammer, it’s people changing to CC builds to get free kills.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Skyhammer and Spirit Watch are weird. They both have the three side points and a massively more important secondary objective. That means that you need to split to four “points” at pretty much all times. That makes rotations a good bit harder, with communication being more important. For that reason, they might be better in team queue… wtf am I saying. The maps suck. plsno
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Mgorem mains warrior, but he’s not too bad at necromancer, I guess. Also, Cynz, when I banned Supply Crate in FC 1v1s, there was a good amount of controversy. On the one hand, it made some 1v1s for engineer pretty faceroll. On the other hand, it made others almost impossible. The game just isn’t balanced well enough around 1v1s to say adamantly that something should or shouldn’t be allowed. A lot of the FC rules came down to making the matches entertaining more than anything else. That’s where the amulet and trait bans came in, at least.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@Liewec There is just as much meta “abuse” on NA. However, some people get bored with it and run different stuff. It can work if you do it well enough. A good example is Eurantien running a really strong Power Ranger.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
The rubber banding off knockbacks is especially frustrating when trying to decap a point. It can be game changing.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I know Sidly generally runs Engineer, Rezz generally runs Ranger, and Yuyu generally runs Warrior. I’m not sure about the other two.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
All of them… They hover at about the top 50-100 IIRC.

Increasing the size of asura, letting us display all players as human, streaking effects. There are ways to fix it if it’s acknowledged as an issue. And it IS an issue.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Japan Thailand Croatia is Mario, Yuyu, Sidly, Rezz, and Remix (I don’t recognize Remix).
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
If I use my Norn and fight an Asura Warrior using an axe, he can literally hide in my body so I can’t see any of his animations. #esports
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@Evan What’s being implied here is one of two issues with asura. The animations don’t actually show where the attack hits. It’s the same issue with Plague hitting targets outside of the circle. The game is supposed to be highly visual, so it’s an issue when the visuals don’t match up with what’s actually happening. The other issue with asura is that the animations are harder to see, giving an obvious and enormous advantage. It also makes the game harder to spectate.
@nearlight The best way to fix it, in my opinion, is to give people the option to display all models as human. Then people can play whatever race they want, but it won’t give them an advantage over anybody else. It would be similar to culling, but even more extreme.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
You think that they can beat Megalodonger? That’s Kaypud, Rar, Quilja, Supcutie, and an alt (we’ll let you guess who that one is). I’ve got nothing against Japan Thailand Croatia, but they’ve got some real competition.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
People have been abusing it forever… It’s a real problem.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Don’t get your hopes up for GvG. In-game rankings are a possibility for the next feature patch, I suppose.
