The rifle pierce is blocked by a single block. With how prevalent guardians are in WvW, that’s a lot.

Megalodonger Confirmed is a VERY strong team, as you’ll see when we add the account names. No Clue is also quite good, as Eurantien has said. Team Holy, Japan Thailand Croatia, and Tournament Ticket all have some good players, but I expect Megalodonger and No Clue to be going to the finals.

I generally run Merciless Hammer over Defy Pain on my Hambow. However, that’s because Cleansing Ire and Merciless Hammer are so strong, not because Defy Pain is weak. My suggestion would be to swap Cleansing Ire to Grandmaster and Defy Pain to Master, but that’s just me.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Your killshot is more of a one-trick pony. I think mine is the closest you’re going to get to a tournament-viable build with rifle. I can win most 1v1s because of my stances (elementalists still give me trouble because of the sustain). If you want to see some gameplay of my build in action, watch the Obeesports vs Team Teamwork matches from the first Tournament of Legends.

PvP: Pls no buffs to healing power. Bunkers last as long as they should already.
PvE: Buffing healing power changes nothing. Content needs to be more difficult to encourage people to use different stats.
WvW: I don’t kittening know, but it’s pretty bunky there already. I don’t think healing power buffs are a good idea here either.
TL;DR – Anet pls no healerino bufferinos

That’s what I run in PvP, but you’ll find that, in general, rifle is just inferior to longbow. Rifle is useless in WvW (single-target) and PvE (you stack at melee, so GS or axe is better anyway). Longbow is strong because you can swap to it, quickly pop out three incredibly useful skills, then swap back to your primary DPS weapon.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
A couple things about your build.
1) You’re running 5 signets for the Deep Strike bonus, and while that might benefit your own personal offense, the warrior has much more useful utilities in a group setting, especially considering that hammer isn’t as high DPS as a greatsword, that extra precision isn’t going to be as effective.
2) Unsuspecting Foe only works on stunned foes, not knocked down or knocked back ones. This means that the only skill that benefits from this is Earthshaker. It was strong in PvP before they moved it because you could chunk someone for most or all of their health in one go, but in PvE, where sustained DPS (as in boss fights) wins out, it’s not overly useful, especially with Defiant.
3) Your damage isn’t even comparable to a greatsword warriors. Let’s compare it to the 6-6-0-0-2 pure greatsword build. From the get-go you’re giving up 300 power and the 15% damage from Berserker’s Power. 300 Power is 11% of your 2623 power. Then you’re also missing 100 more precision, or about 3% crit chance. You also have 100 more ferocity. That’s about 25-30% less DPS before you even factor in the fact that greatsword does more damage.
Now let’s look at what hammer brings:
CC – Near useless due to the ease of trash mobs and the defiant stacks on bosses. Let’s also mention that Staggering blow will knock the trash mobs away from your group, which is generally a bad thing.
Weakness – Somewhat useful, but you don’t even get close to dying if you know how to dodge.
Cripple – Greatsword has this too, not that it’s all that useful in PvE.
So, while I agree that you can play how you want, don’t try to pass it off as something it isn’t. You’re playing an inferior build because you like the playstyle, and that’s OKAY. Just acknowledge it. Sure, it’s stupid that you can run no survivability and clear everything easily. It sucks that the Damage/Support/Control trinity doesn’t exist, but you need to accept that.
Also, lol @ five gauge <3

Rotation is the word used for what I described. PvP at the moment is mostly conquest, so conquest is what people will learn. That doesn’t mean you can’t learn how to fight, too, with the team fights and smaller engagement, as well as the weekly 2v2 tournament.
Just because you don’t like a game mode doesn’t make it bad. I understand that a lot of people would prefer deathmatch or something like that, but you’re oversimplifying the mode because you don’t like it.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
The goal in PvE is to make every run identical. In PvP, that’s unrealistic as to not even be a goal. The complexity is on a different scale when you have to react, instead of repeat. I’m not saying PvE doesn’t have good things, but still :P
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Wat. The reason PvP has depth is the human factor. So you’re saying it’s just as deep, except for the factor that makes it deep.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Zombi, you’re obviously best Teef NA. What’s with this necro kitten?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
The highest before the patch hit was 74 IIRC.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Necro is definitely still viable, but I feel it’s not as much mindless condition spam as it used to be. You have to be more strategic with your cooldowns now. That’s my opinion as someone who doesn’t play necromancer, Noscoc would have a better opinion on that.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
To your first point, the main thing is rotations. You watch when they rotate and ask yourself why. They just left before the fight ended. Why did they do that? Oh, their team had the advantage, and one of the opponents had just rezzed up, so they backed out to defend their homepoint. Stuff like that. There isn’t a player in this game who can’t learn SOMETHING about rotations, even the all stars, but the top players are definitely the ones to learn from.
To your second point: aren’t there people who play sports, but don’t enjoy watching them? I use the word some because I know that not everybody enjoys watching streams. It’s personal preference.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@The Primary Some people find watching streams entertaining, especially the top players. You can learn from it, and it can be fun, just like watching any sport.
@XacTactX Unfortunately the vote ends tonight, so we can’t reschedule this PARTICULAR event, but maybe we’ll do something similar in the future.

We’re starting now! Lag is gone!

Yeah. I’d say mesmer’s in a stronger position than ranger at the moment.

Hi everyone! I’m Olrun of Mistpedia. I’ve heard a lot of people on the forums and in-game talking about how they didn’t recognize anyone on the poll for Gamescom, so I decided to do something about it. Tonight (7/16/2014) at 9 PM EST we will be hosting a dodgeball-style All Star Match. Basically, teams will be chosen by randomly selected captains from the pool of all star players who show up. This will give players an opportunity to see these all star players in action, hopefully leading to more informed voting and give us a taste of what might happen at Gamescom. The matches will be streamed and shoutcasted by Sireph on Twitch.
Players who have responded include:
*Ak
*Blu
*Hiba
*Kaypud
*Kensuda
*Marvin
*Morfeus
*Phantaram
*Zoose
and several others who are unsure if they can make it. Today is the last day of voting, so come watch your favorite players duke it out and remember to vote!

Look at the picture. He has 23 matches played. Please explain how that should be at the top of the leaderboards, especially when 8 of those are losses. It would be understandable if he was 23-0, but he’s not.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Then you’re playing against bad rangers. Good rangers will swap to the second weapon set as the situation calls for it.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
You can sell them for thousands of gold and get those weapons then.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Ranger can work, but it’s definitely the weakest class right now. They might be less useless than in other game modes, but that doesn’t make them strong. Something to keep in mind about the SB vs LB debate is that the LB is a power weapon. The SB is good at stacking up bleeds, so people tend to use it more in condition builds, which are more popular on rangers. The only player who runs Power Ranger in high end play is Eurantien, but he pulls it off really well.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
First place: Each member of the first place team will receive their choice of a legendary weapon, one PvP tournament-exclusive armor set, and the First Place Trophy Finisher.
Second place: Each member of the second place team will receive a precursor of their choice, one PvP tournament-exclusive armor set, and the Second Place Trophy Finisher.
Third place: Each member of the third place team will receive three individual pieces of the PvP tournament-exclusive armor set, and the Third Place Trophy Finisher.
1st/2nd is the difference between a Legendary weapon and a precursor.

Do you not have a hobby, Swagg? I think that’s more upsetting.

Helseth himself will tell you that he can’t do what Blu does. He has great insight when he’s casting with someone else, but he needs someone casting with him to fill in the gaps.

BTW Anton, Moobs is at 149 on team queue boards right now. Just an FYI.

VOIP programs are the most effective method of communication mid-game. There are ways to get around them, but they are all sub-optimal. I don’t care what you say, it’s faster to say ONE than to type 1. People don’t do that, though. Why? Because it’s less confusing mid match to say what you mean, albeit in a concise manner. It’s just a hassle they didn’t want to deal with, and there’s no reason they should have to.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
A good player running turret engineer could cause problems even against strong players. It’s not optimal, but, just like most troll builds in the game, it can be effective at all levels by leaving the burden of skill on the other player. They kitten up once, they die. You kitten up twenty times, you still kill them. Nobody’s perfect.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
If you actually win the tournaments (esports) you’ll consistently get a lot of gems. Other than that it has nothing to do with esports. I do wish rewards for successful tPvP were higher, but tPvP isn’t esports at all.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I mean, you’d know the teams playing if you actually watched any of the streams. You can’t expect to know the top DotA teams if you never watch them play or talk with people who do. If you asked me who the top hockey teams were in the US, I’d be hard pressed to name a team other than my home town Capitals.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I’ll be the mascot, since I’ve participated in so many tournaments, even if I haven’t won any. GO TEAMS!
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@uberkingkong That’s not quite true. I played Guild Wars for years and logged thousands of hours almost exclusively in PvE. I started playing Guild Wars 2 the same way, pretty much all PvE. However, a couple months into 2013 I started playing PvP and I loved it. I now have the 19th most team queue wins in NA. If that doesn’t prove that PvEers can become PvPers, I don’t know what can. Sure, most of the PvEers who try out PvP for the rewards won’t stay, but I truly believe that some will.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
The new rewards are actually more money than the old dyes.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
lmao, Backpack confirmed hacker.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Johnny, that’s not why they run that. Immob stacking is a valid strategy without the bug, and stacking it has no effect on whether or not the bug triggers. Immob stacking is a completely different balance issue and is not a bug.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
… I’ve been rank 80 since the patch hit, thank you very much.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I see someone complain about the bug about once every three games. It’s a serious enough bug that it can and has changed the outcomes of some of those games. Yes, I think it should be fixed.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
The bug occurs when you are CCed at the same instant you stun break it. You’re stuck in place, as if immobilized, until you do an emote that moves your character, such as dancing or sitting. In the middle of a fight, the time that it takes to do either can kill you, especially on a squishy class.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I think the main reason that exists is as a buffer for people who afk during queues. If the timer was reduced, I’d assume that more matches would at least start as 4v5s.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Everyone should be able to be reward for high skill play. If they release difficult PvE content, that should have higher rewards than the grindy dungeons. If you’re winning in team queues, you should be compensated accordingly. People should play what they find fun, but what should be rewarded is skill.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
PvE is boring to you. Most of the people who play PvE find it fun. I used to as well. We should be able to be rewarded for high skill play, not just boring play.
