What elite spec do we want next?

I would like to see a Elite DPS spec that is focused on not using Phantasm, it would have a mechanic that consume your phantasm and lock that phantasm counter so you can’t summon it while it is locked, and it would give you some kind of buffs to compansate for the phantasm loss. Each shatter skill would give a differente kind of buff and lock the phantasm counter. So you could mix the buffs or for example have the 3 phantasm counter locked for the same buff to get a better especific effect.
It would be an enchanter type of espec, it would consume the phantasm to enchant you or your weapon with effect/buff. New weapon would be axe or piston MH

People saying that an easy mode will make raid worst, but you dont see people complaining about level 90+ fractals, or about wanting a Tier 4 chest for doing a level 10 fractal. They know that if they want better rewards they can get better at fractals by doing the lower level ones (instead of dying non stop to level 100 Mai Trin) and then try the higher ones. Now imagine if the only fractals we got was the 90+ ?? People would complain about it.
Nobody wants to get rid of challenges, just to have difficult scales on all modes of the game;
Fractals have 1 – 100, Open world you could say that you have HoT and Pre-HoT, dungeon story mode vs explorable mode, pvp you have ranks. Now raid is the only mode in the entire game that you have only one mode. They could add an easier one and even a more difficult one for the guilds that clear it with 6 people.

People don’t fail raid fights because of the timer, so I’m not sure how a special raid instance without any timers would help things.

People fail because of enrage timers, i already been in a lot of pubs that failed.
Nobody wants to practice in a wipe party, and without a timer i can go with a meta build and pratice my rotation, mechanics without worrying if my party members are using the right build. There are a lot of people that still doesnt raid but would love just having a more relaxing and fun way to do it.

First i would like to say that i already did the first wing of the raid, but everytime it was really stressfull and time consuming not because of the fight itself ( because the fight is really fun ) but looking for X class / build, having to kick someone for underperforming and making everyone lose time etc.
So i was thinking about an entry level raid, that would be just like the one we have now but without the timer ( and obvious without any of the current raid reward ), the reward could be something like just a Tier 4 fractal chest, with this players could see all the raids fight by themselves.
Why this? Without the timer everyone can practice the fight instead of watching a youtube video ( and making easier to find good people for the normal raid ), can see the history first hand and with the tier 4 fractal chest can even get a ascended item for helping them trying the normal raid later.

Torch#5 should reveal stealth, you use a torch to see in the dark right? So it make senses and would be really good in pvp

Timed boss meta events

There are some events like the Legendary vinetooth boss on Auric Basin that have a timer on it, with few people this events are 100% fail rate because the boss has too much HP.
My suggestions is that when the timer ends the event doesnt end as long as the boss is on combat with someone, this way small group can finish it if they dont wipe

I really like they, as a warrior with shield + reflect trait, is funny to see they rapid fire on stealth just to come out of stealth dead from their own arrows

The bigger question is: Why still play without expansion? Go work some extra hours until you can buy it. I never understood people that played 10+ hours a week games like FFXIV or WoW without having the expansions. The game worth 10 hours+ of your week but dont worth 50$ a year and a half?

No, it is not possible to use elite specializations in PvP if you do not own Heart of Thorns.

Yes, elite specializations are far superior to normal professions, and have no drawbacks whatsoever.

No, you cannot choose to join matches with other players who do not own the expansion.

Yes, this does mean Guild Wars 2 is now technically Pay-to-Win.

So much lies lol, so a Elementalist, Warrior, Thief or Guardian dont have the most evident drawbacks for getting elite ?? (the others have too but less evident)

I dont think condition damage is a problem, builds that can stack a lot of burning damage dont have condition to cover it. So one cleanse and the 9 burnings stacks are gone.
I found funny that people cry about burning guardian, but never about direct damage, I play most GS/Hammer warrior, and when i stun/knock down than 100B from GS and they go from 100-0 no one complain, but if I play a burning guardian and setup 6-8 burning stack they have time to cleanse but dont and die, everyone complain .

It would be cool, but it would take even more time from then, i prefer much more that they start to work on the next elite espec than waste time in story for it, and if you main one or two class you would only see a small % of these new stories

Actually the only thing they need to make it bigger is just make it WAY MORE enjoyable to watch a match.
You can have the perfect game in balance, but if nobody wants to watch it will fail, now even it has some unbalance but people want to watch it will success.

Chill mate.

I just figured that another 3 expansions are unlikely if the 1st one took over 3 years and its not out yet. Perhaps they will make it more of a focus, in that case, it may last, but I can’t see it running another 9 years before they want to make GW3. It’s not that it isn’t doing well, they will just want to upgrade to GW3 in a while. I would like it to be around a long time.

It took 3 years because expansions were not in their original plan (they wanted only LSs), now that they want expansions it will release much faster, i think like gw1 the next one will be 1,5 year from now

lol warrior is a machine of cond remov and boon stripping? You sure are trolling. Just remove PS of Warrior and see how many comps will favor warrior in PvE. And in PvP try to 1v1 a good D/D Element and see how powerfull and how much sustain you have.

Me and some friends really like the XP aspect of masteries, because it will reward you no matter what you do as a level 80. For example if i want to stay at maps that arent SW on my lvl 80 i’m punished because i get little reward from my time spend, but after masteries at least i will progress there because every thing in this game gives XP, everything…

So masteries will make things far more enjoyable for everyone who wants to play in their own way and still get a “good reward”

I can guarantee that B&S will not be that popular, not because its bad, but because its really heavy on the action side, more than TERA, so having 140-150+ ping is a HUGE disvantage on the pvp, even on the most difficult PvE content there, and depending where the servers are even if you live on US you can get a ping this high imagine now who isnt in US? Its popular on asia because there its really easy to get ping under 15.

As someone said:
- Torch should be added to Dual Wield, for some much-needed synergy
- Fast Hands should be baseline
- Bloody Roar and King of Fires are both GM for a condition build so one will be never picked, Bloody Roar bleed on enter B mode should be merged with King of Fires, and Bloody Roar should be taunt and give maybe toughtness ( so it would be a Tank GM choice )
- Dead or Alive should give 2 seconds of endure pain because it heals you so little that you probably die again after it procs, or activate Blood Reckoning on proc as it would be more in line with the Berserker Theme
- Smash Brawler really needs a total rework, almost useless because you can only use on trash mobs and if only they die really fast ( so you dont need it anyway as they are droping fast ), maybe some sinergy with Axe and GS for this GM ??
- Heat the Soul need condition duration with condition damage, warrior burning last so little that is hard to compete with any other good cond build

PleaseDont make HT too hard!

Anet – please take note of the general attitude of this and the reddit thread.. if those are your intended Hero Point numbers then I’d say you need a serious re-think. Maybe you’re going to adda ton of new HP’s in HoT but even still.. those numbers are insane. No one likes hero challenges btw – they’re boring as hell. Doing thousands of them before we can have fun? No thanks.

I actually find HP really fun, by far the best part of any map for me ( better than vistas, POI, hearts and events) i like to fight some elite mob to get the HP, so “no one likes” are really wrong.

On Topic – The aggrieved parties about this nerf do not have sound logic. You all use the defense that dungeons “are not the most lucrative” and “sw afk farm is better” as a defense to stop the nerf of gold rewards in dungeons. AT THE SAME TIME you all say that dungeon content is “core to the game” and “ANET hates their players for ruining this excellent content”, yet you now declare them dead from a nerf to their GOLD amount. Not a nerf to unique rewards or moving those rewards somewhere else, just a reduction of gold rewarded.

So which is it? Either dungeons are good core content which is fun in and of themselves OR You admittedly run them because they really are the best pure gold source and are super duper easy to farm.
The real problem is most of you cant admit to yourselves that you just want easy gold and dungeons are your current place to get it.

Its fun content but even if it was the best dungeon in all MMO from all time if it has 0 reward after running the same dungeon 100 times you would not want to run it again even if that is really fun. Content need to be fun AND have a reasonable reward, dont say otherwise, 0 content can live long only by being fun.

A good way of adding gold sinks instead of removing gold sources, would be bring back costs for repair, and this way people actually would care about dieng and will incentive more defensinve builds too.

Hey John, I was wondering if anyone had proposed this particular idea.

Put the daily dungeon chests on a weekly reset like raid rewards will be, instead of nerfing the gold output directly. Alternatively could do both, but just not nerf the gold output as harshly.

This way players can still do the dungeons to get a decent amount of cash, but you don’t have people doing CoF1 once per day every single day. They either have to spread out and do other paths during that week, or be satisfied with what they got from the easier paths until the reset. Figure that would do enough to deincentivise doing dungeons all the time for income, since Fractals would still have daily rewards.

This would be a better idea, we who still like dungeons would run it at least 1 time for week, and then we would focus on Fractals. This helps it become less repetitive also, because only doing fractals arent that fun ( at least not if ANet doesnt add more ).

You can still be hit if you stealth, you cant cap or decap while stealth.. if all you do when dying is stealth and run away you will lose, because the other team are getting objectives, stealth is annoying just as mesmer clones, but is pretty balanced, if you cant kill someone because they stealth and run away guess what? You still won because you are making points for your team while he is not.

And speedyfox you say that games like TERA are a lot more fair, it just show how ignorant you are. In TERA if you dont spend money its just almost impossible to get an item to +15, and a +15 item just boost your damage by an insane margin, so yeah not p2w at all, and you can spend real money to buy cash itens sell, and buy all the top itens, really fair.

GW2 just follow GW1 bussines model, its by far the less p2w game out there. All other you need to pay a monthly fee or if its f2p there dozen of things you can spend cash that boost you ( premiun account its the most common) all the things you dont see here. So just quit gw2, its not f2p anyway, not p2w, its just b2p as it always has been

Its b2p, not p2w because you are not supposed to stay free forever (f2p gw its just the best trial that exists), if you never intend to buy HoT or any other expansion that launch just quit the game.

I really dont like enrage timers, just because you cant take fun builds to raid with your guildies because you will hit it. If the boss have difficulty mechanics that will kill you why enrage?? As you take long to kill it you will have more window to die to these mechanic so its not like it was easier.

I really like the revenant class, but one thing that i didnt like much about gw2 was that you never had and option to change a weapon skill, now with revenant the legendary system works like a weapon for utility where you cant change the setup.
My suggestion without breaking the class core, is that you can change the utility for the one of your other legendary equipped so you can have a bit of costumization ( you would still be locked to the 2 legendary utility just like it is now ), so if i want to stay on shiro but want just 1 skill of the dwarf i dont need to swap legendary wait 10 seconds swap back, and players on pvp dont instantly know all the skills i have equipped.

There is no grind if Ascended is the end gear forever. How much time since ascended was released?? You can always take your time to get it so no grind ( on other games if you dont grind they release a better tier then you are more behind ). Just because you cant get it the moment you hit 80 ( exotic anyone get full set the moment they hit 80 ) doesnt mean they are grindy. The only grind there is are legendary and they have the same stats that ascended. If you really care about raids, really challenging fights you would have ascended already ( you can get rings, ascesory, amulet with laurels for just logging in the game for gods sake )

TL/DR: Ascended is not grind gear, only legendaries are.

I’m leveling my mesmer only doing Paths on AC and Manor, i just make party with titles like “P1, anyone welcome, lets have fun” never got kicked , never, and the runs dont take that long, on AC i usually kill spider before advertasing and on Manor just reach the Barn, and as a mesmer i can use portal to help party members who have difficult on some skips (like the bandit cave on manor )
Now if i try to join an exp of course i will get insta kicked, and you know why people often want level 80 ?? Not because of experience, but because of broken downscale, let me explain:
A level 50 with level 50 gear will do just fine on AC. Now a level 65 on level 50 gear will get killed in 1 shot. People who are leveling often dont keep the gear level the same as his level, and the downscale system dont care about it, so if you are level 65 using level 50 gear your gear will get downscaled to oblivion.
