So what was the whole thing on reddit said by Linsey Murdock that it’s not going to be Lake Doric?
Is Anet staff angry that we figured out the new location, thus trying to cover it up???
Or are they unaware of their own content releases? Seriously can anyone elaborate on this??

She said no such thing. What she said was that the map that we saw leak in China would never be implemented into the game. And technically she was right, as this map was built from the ground up. This is not the same map that was leaked in the chinese client.

With how much WvW players complain you guys should be thankful ANet continues to even work on WvW honestly. You complain when you don’t get stuff implemented and you complain when new stuff is implemented.

I can only speculate it’s to incentivize players to keep playing for now, because it’s off-season now and we didn’t get any balance patches; with new LS out, they want to keep PvP population up. A sad attempt really.

I ’m fairly certain it has more to do with people continuously asking for new sources of AP

FWIW, legendary materials include mystic clovers, and while there are other ways to farm for those in-game (pvp and wvw reward tracks), they are more costly than things that laurels purchase.

From a purely min/max gold perspective, legendary crafting mats.

the thing about this though is that you can’t directly turn the clovers into gold. The only way to turn them into gold is to make a core legendary and sell it, which also requires a significant up front investment that a lot of players don’t have lying around. Laurels can be turned straight into gold

That would be really cool, as well as eating and using(?) animations for the food and utilities that we have. You don’t have a combat use for them, but I imagine that roleplaywise it would be nice to be able to eat stuff.

I do have a question though, do you want this to apply to all seats in the game? Or only to new seats released with/after this change with this in mind? Because the former is significantly more work that would involve going through and finding every single seat in the game and updating it (as currently they are just a box, maybe with a rectangle behind it for the back of the seat), and I can’t see them going for that considering how few people would take advantage of it. But I do think that you have a shot at getting this implemented if it would be restricted to just new seats that they would introduce with this update.

If you have no interest in Legendary crafting, then laurels are the best option. Tomes are always nice for leveling alts, but if you are struggling to get those 6 levels over the course of a month they won’t help you our that much truth be told. Ascended mats are a nice option as well, but you can convert laurels to gold indirectly through purchasing crafting mat bags. I believe you end up earning about 1 gold per laurel, which you can then use to buy the ascended crafting mats if you really want them.

its not just my group since its something that will take x hours to complete it would be better if more ppl were able to run it freely on release day. No one likes to be late in the fun.

I mean lul so many ppl took day off today to raid because the release was in the middle of the week. A release during the weekend would be better for the bigger picture.

If you can’t stand to wait 2 days then its on you, and not on ANet, to fix that issue.

Ok. So due to how GW2 works, there isn’t really a site like that, because there isn’t anything similar to WoW in terms of gear progression in GW2. Ascended armor is the best you can get, but its only a little bit better than exotic, which is extremely easy to get. Just playing through the personal story and map completing Frostgorge Sound, and the 3 Orr maps should give you enough to be almost fully exotics.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor

That is a link to the official wiki, to the page on ascended armor specifically. It has links that tell you how to get each attribute set and whatnot. For the attributes you want, berserker is fine for open world PvE for power builds, dire is better if you want to use a condition build.

We shouldn’t have traits that make all of your attacks unblockable, especially if they are passive procs.

Perma stealth thieves. Its pure bullkitten that someone could decap/cap a point, or even just contest it for that matter, if you can’t even see them. Being forced to lay down an AoE skill, which not all classes even have one that can cover an entire node for that matter, just to “fight” because you can’t see them is stupid and broken.

You aren’t “forced” to put down an AOE just to fight, you can hit a thief in stealth with any skill if you aim it right, even ranged AA chains. Also, the thief cannot fight you back lest he’s risking being revealed and bursted down, so you can just cleave them and whiltle them down just as you would any other “bunker”, since most build surely can out-DPS SR’s healing. Or, you can force them off the point or out of stealth with controll skills .

How, exactly do you propose to “aim it right” if you can’t even see them? That’s not aiming. That’s blindly swinging at the air and hoping to god the thief is dumb enough to not be watching you and walking in a circle around you.

@Menyus is on a much better track here. If you were allowed to contest a point in stealth, you should only be able to contest it for 1 second after going into stealth. No capping, no decapping in stealth, but you could prevent someone from the other team from capping it for 1 second after entering stealth. Give this a 10-15 sec ICD so the thief can’t just stall forever by popping in and out of stealth.

Underwater combat in PvE would instantly be 10x better for me if the leashes on mobs was 1/5 what it was on land, and if the aggro range was 1/2 to 1/3. It sounds harsh, but I’ve had a single mob follow a lvl 80 char halfway through the ocean, parallel to the shoreline, in Cursed Shore. Halfway. That was easily twice the distance I’ve had mobs chase me on land when I was 4-5 levels under them. Its just ridiculous how long the aggro range is for mobs underwater because it can always follow a straight line instead of following the terrain. Same thing with the aggro range. Its annoying as kitten to have them aggro onto you, from all directions, from so far away when you are just trying to swim through. And with a lot of movement based skills disabled underwater, it makes it all that much more tedious to just swim right past them.

So decrease the leash range significantly, cut the aggro range in half. Underwater would then be tolerable to me. The combat would still need work, but it would at least be tolerable.

I didn’t realize that shield bash was used as a block. The list of unblockable attacks is actually pretty small if you think about how many skills are in the game, and of the skills on that list, quite a few of them only the conditions applied are unblockable.

In game that list feels much larger however due to skills like Signet of Might and Phase traversal which make all of your attacks unblockable for some time. And the worst offenders are traits that make attacks unblockable (Signet Mastery, Malicious Reprisal and Soul Marks). I do think that we have too many traits and skills which make attacks unblockable currently, and wouldn’t mind seeing some durations reduced by 1 second, and some traits changed along with whatever re-balancing that would require. But the list of straight unblockable attacks seems fine to me as it is, maybe one or two skills could be removed but I don’t think they need to be.

Haven’t had the chance to watch the video yet, but this seems like really strange timing. Helselth seemed so kitten excited for the direction PvP was headed in GW2 with season 5

The game is getting great for the pvp “casuals”. After 4 years we got a functioning and visible MMR system, decent gold per hour. A daily/weekly ingame tournamet system for like mini gem prizes on AcademyGaming level of play is all whats missing.

The esport (real money) scene however didnt have anything recently. And nothing regular is assured.
They liked 100$ per week + 1.000$ month system more than “Anet randomly once a year or two drops a 50k or 150k or 200.000$ tournament”.

Yea, I got a chance to watch the video after class was over. Its sad that they are leaving, because it seems like Helseth really kittening loves the game. Which means that he’s leaving because he feels he doesn’t have a choice.

Are macros legit in PvP?

in PvP

Posted by: OriOri.8724

OriOri.8724

Okay so multiple skills on 1 button is not okay. Well I’m seeing that in some PvP matches for sure. A lot of DHs are using it, and probably other people playing other classes too. My main is mes and I sometimes come across other mes who’s build I know and they are definitely using macros. Because I know the skill sets I know it is isn’t possible to do certain combinations as quickly as they do for insta kills for everyone they meet in 1v1. When you meet people who can pull off long combos in about 1 sec before you can react consistently that’s very likely a multi-skill macro at work.

Hmm not really. Maybe these players just have better keybinds than other players, as well as multi button mouses that can significantly increase the amount of keys you can press in a short period of time…..In a fast based action combat like this game, an optimal setup of the keyboard and the mouse is very profitable. Not denying of course that cheaters exist but with all this visual noise in the game, appearances can be very misleading as well

You still have to press buttons on a mouse. The situations I’m talking about are skills being performed far beyond human reflex times of pressing buttons. Skill executions are right on top of each other, which to me means a macro is being used. Sometimes including a proc’ing action. For example you have to guarantee an interrupt to get quickness followed by insta kill burst damage combination. I’m pretty sure there must be a way Anet can determine if a macro is being to execute multiple actions consistently and without fail every time.

Its not macros, its well placed keys and just being really quick. Its a lot easier to get those combos off if you setup your keybinds correctly, so that you can have 3 or 4 fingers all pressing the keys for those skills at the exact same time, while still moving. Its not easy (maybe not even possible) with the default keybinds, but with custom keybinds it is possible to get off those mesmer power shatter burst combos without a macro

Unfortunately, Anet has decided that skill = the ability to copy builds from websites – and the punishment for not doing so is crippling your group and severely lowering your chances at ever seeing the content.

ANet didn’t decide that, players arbitrarily decided that. Be upset about the meta all you want, but don’t act as if it isn’t self imposed by the players

means every time someone does daily, it HARMS every other player’s economic power, ever so slightly

How about everytime someone vendors the loot they get instead of selling it on the trading post? That harms every other player’s economic power ever so slightly also yet you haven’t recommended removing vendor value from loot.

I vendor all my sigils. I’M GOING TO RUIN YOU ALL MUHAHAHAHAHA.

LOL! I guess I’m helping you then, it’s too cumber sum to dump them on the TP and even if you could batch drop them all the return is meaningless, those things are worthless it’s not like they are superior vigors or anything, oddly if you compare them from a GW1 perspective would be highly more valuable if you could equip them, I guess someone in the last 250 years worked out how to mass produce them on scales not see since God invented dirt.

I think one of the greater benefits traders and especially speculators have for the economy as a whole is keeping unwanted supply in game. Taking your worthless sigils as example:

During their first year of existance, Superior Sigils of Mischief dropped like candy and nobody wanted them. They were basically traded a little over vendor value for a whole year. If none of the speculators would have put in buy orders for those in that time, players would probably have just sold them to a vendor (not in this case, as the sigil has no vendor value) or simply destroyed them. In any case, those sigils would have been destroyed and taken out of the economy.

But as plenty of speculators put in buy orders at low values, they probably saved hundreds of thousands of superior sigils from being destroyed.

That supply hoarded by speculators considerably eased the demand spike during wintersday 2015 and also 2016 and is probably the only reason why superior sigils of mischief this year stayed below their forge value (value of mats needed to forge them) of 20g each.

As you can see from my screenshot, I sold around 16k sigils in the last 90 days for an average of 1.17g, which means the supply I bought and hoarded for more than a year, enabled 320 players to craft their essence of mischief for around 60g instead of paying 250g (5g average price for sigils during wintersday).

Without that supply from speculators, all those sigils would have to be forged from scratch, which would have consumed 20 mystic coins for each sigil.

It would have taken 320k mystic coins to create my supply of sigils this year, just imagine what that extra demand would have meant for MC prices.

Conversely, if these traders hadn’t kept this massive supply of sup sigils of mischief in the game and instead let people vendor them all, then ANet wouldn’t have removed the sigils from the drop tables of wintersday gifts due to the sheer abundance of them on the market. And since ANet wouldn’t have removed them, all of the millions of players not in the “1%” would be better off for it this year due to sigils still being insanely cheap.

You can try as hard as you want to justify why you guys are “good” for the economy, but its all bullkitten and you aren’t fooling anyone. These sigils were a problem precisely because of people like you buying and hoarding millions of them in the game, which prompted ANet to remove them from drop tables. Telling us how you lessened the problem this year that you helped to create doesn’t suddenly make you a good guy LMAO

@kdaddy – It makes sense because if you stop playing PvP your ability to play at the same level decreases. It happens with everything, if you stop doing it for a while, your skill level falls. Is 3 days too short of a period before decay sets in? Yes, it shouldn’t set in so quickly. Should decay set in if you continue to play unranked? No, it shouldn’t, since you are still playing PvP and keeping your skills up. Should it be changed so that you can’t farm MMR through it? Yes, absolutely. What they should do is check your account and see how much total gold your account has, and if you have more then 10k gold, then the TP fee for all items jumps from 15% to 20%. If you have more then 50k gold then it should go from 20% to 25% so on and so forth, then I might believe the 1% is noble.

and yes I know you could just use alt accounts to list items to avoid the increased listing fee or just invest gold into items to lower your accounts gold count, just like RL people do with offshore accounts in the Cayman islands but hey its more work for you. GGWP

This is incredibly easy to game by holding the bulk of your “money” in items with relatively stable prices.

Remove Leather from Low Level Crafting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: OriOri.8724

OriOri.8724

The problem with having leather drop from all armor weights is that it would crash the prices by the sheer number of salvageable drops that we get in the game. Unlike ore/wood, they don’t have that many sinks. Silk and thick leather would hit vendor prices by people doing any of the HoT metas. Technically, silk is already almost there.

How does leather have fewer sinks than ore and wood?

  • Well for one, legendary weapon gifts don’t use any leather other than T6.
  • Gift of Metal/Wood use multiple tiers.
  • Unlike armor skins, there are many craftable weapon skins that are very popular which of course use wood and ore.
  • Precursor crafting also uses ore and wood in very large quantities.
  • Precursor forging uses a lot of T5 wood and ore

This list isn’t everything.

You’re right, I did forget about precursor crafting.

The real problem with DH is that it’s such a simple build it causes the people who play it to be in a higher placement than they should be.

So when they try to play something else they get destroyed because they are wayyyyyyyyyy out of their league. Most DH players generally belong 3~4 tiers lower than they are.

I witnessed a lot of this when I was in silver climbing my way to gold. Around silver II there were a TON of DH players. But they weren’t actually that smart. For instance, I would play Warrior and pop might signet and they would still be wasting all their blockspam moves during my might sig and I would just destroy them. It was painfully obvious that they would still be in bronze if the DH easymode build didn’t exist. These players are then forced to keep playing DH because as soon as they stop they fall right back down to bronzieland, and people generally hate being in bronze since it carries the stigma of being considered a “bad” player.

Thus the true problem with DH = It doesn’t matter if it’s OP or not, it needs a change because it causes problems with MMR. Players should be encouraged to learn the game and get better, not get carried by a build that even a trained monkey could play. Otherwise they will end up with way higher ratings than they should which de-legitimizes the entire ranking system.

Exactly. DH and other cheese builds allow some players to climb way higher than they should be in PvP.

I’m so sad light armor looks the way it does right now… so… ugh…

as far as i know we dont know what light and medium armor looks like do we?

We have the envoy armor, and the heavy preview was fairly similar to the heavy envoy armor, so people are assuming that the medium and light armors will be pretty close to the envoy armor as well. Frankly I don’t blame them for that assumption as its fairly logical.
